IDVD question from a total newcomer

Hi folks,
I have a Mac G4 that I bought second hand. It does NOT have iDVD on it, and I want to buy it.
Does iLife 06 provide the software or is it just an upgrade? I ask this because on the description it reads...
"iLife '06, the must-have update to Apple's award-winning suite of digital lifestyle applications, delivers major upgrades to iPhoto, iMovie HD, iDVD and GarageBand, plus an innovative new application called iWeb for creating stunning web pages, blogs and podcasts."
Any suggestions?

IBook questions from a total noob.

Well, greetings to all of you! I am the most proud owner of an iBook "Snow" Dual USB, 500 mhz, 320mb RAM, 10gb HDD. I won this on eBay 3 weeks ago for $15 with a supposedly dead HDD and since it was local there was no shipping charges! Since I'm actually using it to type this, the hard drive is in fact fine, a bit small but fine. There is no Airport Card, but I see from the antenna it is possible to put one in there. Anyway, my question has probably been asked a billion times, but from what I read nobody has an explanation just a simple "No". Obviously I want to upgrade the Hard Drive, BUT, if I'm going to be in there anyway I want to put a combo drive in. However, I've seen 700-900mhz Logic Boards on eBay, not cheap but not outrageous either. I want to swap out the old 500mhz one with a 700-900mhz replacement. The Form factor is the same, all the screw holes are identical, other then the possible display incompatibility I see no reason why it can't be done. Please, explain to me, in vast detail, why this cannot be done and cannot work. Other then the amount of time....I see no issues. Thank you for your' time, I look forward to the responses! =^)

See now we're getting somewhere, obviously there's more to it then just swapping out the Logic Board and having it just work. Yet apparently it can be done. Of course, it would seem to be more of an annoyance then it is worth, but I figured to try and squeeze a bit more juice from this apple...ha ha ha. I had figured if I was going to have it apart to put in a replacement Hard Drive, then why not just go ahead and go for the full monty, right? I suppose a stick of 512mb RAM and a larger, faster spinning hard drive will be all I'll be doing to this machine. The simple fact that I only paid $15 for the unit and $35.00 for the OS X 10.3 Panther CD's and it works has me thrilled, really! It is my first Apple computer and I love being able to mess around with it, but I'm quickly becoming aware of the severity of it's limitations. Many of the applications I see require either OS X 10.4 Tiger, or it'll work with Panther but I need a G4 800mhz cpu....etc, etc, etc. I guess it's hard to take on the world when one is only 3 feet tall, figuratively speaking. But I'm glad to have an Apple computer and I'm only sorry I wasted so much time with Windows PC's and that I shelled out for Crappy VISTA and went back to XP!!!! Grrr.

Question from a total newbie - cleaning up a few quotes.

Forgive my complete ignorance to the vast world of audio, but the fact remains - I have a problem that I could really use some help with.
I'm working as a volunteer videographer doing docs about humanitarian work in the Domincian Republic, and in all of our underfundedness, I only have one lav mic system. It's better than just a cam mic like before, but one person is always way below on the waveform than the other.
I know my computer can't do magic, but if you have any suggestions on what to do in Soundtrack Pro to make the issue less noticeable, it'd be greatly appreciated.

A good first steip would be to normalize the audio. When your file is open in an audio file project, normalize is under the "process" menu. This will bring the highest level of audio up to whatever you set. If the audio is real low, I would keep it at the default 0db. This won't balance everything. You may still have to edit specific areas and bring the audio up, or down, to make it all match. But it's a good quick method of getting low audio up towards normal. One caveat, this will also bring up any secondary audio . . . background noise, whatever, if it's there.

How can I allow a customer to enter an amount in a box and subtract it from a total

I'm new to lifecycle so I need some help. I figured out how to create the form I wanted but there is one thing I am stuck on and I know someone knows how to do this. It's probably so easy but I am stuck. If you go to the form I created you will see three drop down menus. If you just make a selection you will see the total show up in the "total package cost" box. I want to be able to manually enter a "discount" and then have that subtracted from the total. The script for the "Total Package Cost" is this.rawValue = NumericField1.rawValue+NumericField2.rawValue+NumericField3.rawValue. The "Discount" box is NumericField5. What should I do allow me to enter a number in the discount field and have it automatically subtract from the total field? I hope that's no too confusing. Earlier Questions from 2006-2008

Hi all
I am member since 2006. In my control panel I see questiones posted in 2009 and I am able to trace earlier questions from 2006 to 2008 which were defnitely more than 20 questions with around 90 posts in total.
I tried to search by "Suresh Bansal", still I could not find my earlier questions. They had useful tips and remarks.
Previous interface allowed to access all earlier questions at any time. Kindly guide as to how find our earlier questions

If you are referring to search by "user ID" functionality, I recall having read some threads in the feedback forum. You could try looking up those.
AFAIK, it does not work since the Jive upgrade done last August.
Your only option is to scroll through all the threads that are listed under your name.

Every time that I play a tune from my itunes the file duplicates itself into my 'MyDocuments' folder. If I delete this the song is erased from itunes totally. Ideas??

You are of course deleting the tunes from within the iTunes interface.
The settings that I am referring to are your device settings for the iPad. It should show in the left column of iTunes when your iPad is plugged in.
Go through your playlists and make sure that the tunes(s) are removed from any playlist. You can prevent the sync as noted above then do a sync and the iPad should update with the content from you Mac.

Why can't I post a question from my new system?

Hello All:
I was just trying to post a question from my new mbp but it wouldn't allow me to do anything. It continually gave me a message highlighted in 'red' that i was;t allowed to modify or post anything. I've been asking questions for quite a while and have never seen this. I also happen to have my older bmp, also logged onto the 'Apple Discussions' site, open beside me. Can anyone explain this to me please? BTW, my new system obviously has Yosemite on it while my older bmp has Lion. Thanks in advance, to all those who respond.

Here is my ASC work flow...
1) I login.
2) Block the automatic 30 minute logout.
     Unless you do something every thirty minutes you get logged out. The forum software waits to tell you this as long as it can to keep you in suspense ;-) . Filling out a reply is the exception to the thirty minute window.
        Start an auto reloader.

Firefox = ReloadEvery: "Reload web pages automatically"
Others = Reloaders | Cerberus - Support Center
You need to pick a page that will reload over time without stalling out. It's ASC. I've found my profile display the best to use. I get my Profile page after some logins. It's ASC. Change rccharles to your apple id.

Reply technique
Open a new browser window. Pick some discussion. Open a reply window. As long as this reply window is open, you will stay logged in. The 30 minute times is reset as needed by the ASC software.
3) I open another window to do my normal ASC browsing.
4) I have a FireFox bookmark to goto the discussions that I have participated in. I've modified it to add on the content stuff.

There is absolutely no way to put in my password on my ipod. Its literally in pieces. i have the ipod itself, and the thing underneath it, but no screen, its not like its cracked, its actually gone and i can see the inside of the ipod. Purchasing iLife 11 on disk is an easy thing to do. ILife 11 will include iDVD.
If you have iDVD on another Macintosh you can transfer it to your new computer. That procedure has been discussed here many times, if you do a search you will find that procedure.

I have 38 movies showing in my library but only 23 are showing in the Movies tab on the Apple TV. After researching this a little, there are only 23 movies showing under Purchased in the Quicklinks of my i-Tunes account. The majority of my collection are digital copy downloads that came from DVD purchases. Some of the missing movies were added in the past couple of months, the rest are a year-or-so old. I have done some looking around at questions from others, but I have not found an answer that will fix my situation. How do I update my library to get ALL of my movies to reflect that they were "Purchased"(as it says they were in their Properties)?

Thank you for that post, and the advice. I just happen to be one of those who it does work for. I've been around long enough to know that CC isn't going to work for everyone(the large publishing/radio/web company I work for isn't upgrading to CC because of the costs involved). But it does for me as I potentially venture out into the full-time freelancing world and away from the more structured big office environment. I can't make decisions based on what is best for anyone else, or what will hurt or help Adobe. Just what affects me, and that's all.

Or you can actived the right button on your magic mouse and click on they icon in the dock. then you select "stop" and it's out of your dock.

What version of iPhoto and system are you running? What mode are you in, i.e. Events, Photos?
If it's the Photos mode the number at the bottom will represent the number of photos displayed in that mode or the number of photos selected in that mode. The number will match the number next to the photos mode only when there are no photos in that mode that are selected.
If you click on the Events icon and then back on the photos icon the numbers should match.

I concur with Harm's recommendation. The Quadro 1800 is obsolete: It is based on the equally-obsolete GeForce 9600 GT but with only a 192-bit memory bus instead of a 256-bit memory bus. As such, the only memory configuration that was available on the Quadro 1800 was 768MB. Unfortunately, Premiere Pro CS5 requires a minimum of 765MB of free, unused graphics memory just to even enable GPU accelerated mode at all even with the hack. But since Windows itself eats up some of that 768MB, you'd be left with less than 750MB of free, unused graphics RAM with that Quadro 1800. As a result, Premiere Pro CS5 will be stuck in software-only mode even with the hack if you have the Quadro 1800 as the primary card.
