IDVD slideshow in manual advance mode

Has anyone found a solution to using manual advance for slides in iDVD slideshow. My slideshows created in iDVD will only advance or reverse using the arrows on the minicontrol panel that take you supposidely to the beginning or end of the slideshow. Inotherwords the arrows on the screen do not work nor does the left/right control on the panel work. Interestingly when you press the doublheaded arrows to go to beginning or end it does show on the screen a chapter number as each slide advances. Since I haven't seen any messages on this subject recently, I assume it is a known problem with no solution at this time. Any insights appreciated.

That's pretty much how the slide show works with iDVD although different brands (and models) of DVD players may use different buttons.
The arrows on the screen created by iDVD aren't "hot" - they are just there to act as a "prompt" to the viewer to push a button on the DVD remote. iDVD has a provision to not include the arrows.

  • IPhoto slideshow manual advance transitions

What I need to obtain is to perform slideshow with manual advance (using arrows, not using time interval), but with other transitions than basic.
I can set the time to the high value, then start the slideshow and advance the photos manually. But the transitions when the time expires is which I chose, but when I use arrows, it is always basic.
Even the freeware win apps allow slideshows with manual advance and more sofisticated transitions, but iPhoto doesn't.
Maybe this is good idea for new feture?

  • Slideshow Manual Advance Making Audio Pause

I have a slideshow as a part of a DVD I am working on. My customer wants a piece of audio to play in the background and have the user manually advance through the slides. The problem is, that when I have the Manual Advance button checked it pauses the audio when either Fit To Audio or Fit To Slides is checked. Either way the audio is not seamless.
Does anyone out there know that I am missing something here or do you know of a workaround?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you for the fast response. I figured as much because I try everything before I go to a discussion board with my problems.

  • Can I make iDVD slideshow go backwards?

In my first test DVD, I created a quick slideshow and opted for manual advance. I used the rotating cube transition. No music.
In iDVD in preview mode, I can make the slides either advance or return to the previous slide, depending on whether I press the --> arrow or the <-- arrow on the on-screen controller.
The finished DVD will not, however, allow me to go backwards on any of the DVD players in the house (including my Macs using DVD Player). Pressing the back arrow simply takes me back to the transition into the current slide, with the result that it continues to show the current slide.
Is there any way to do what I'm trying to do?
My only thought is to opt for no transition, but I'd prefer to keep that.

Yes. Just go to Map View once you launch iDvd and simply drag and drop the QT movie presentation / slideshow to the first / top box and then select the loop function within iDvd. This will allow the dvd to play in Kiosk mode. For example:
click on the "i" shown in blue above, dialog box appears, and place a check mark in the upper box.
Hope this helps but if not just come on back.

  • "Persistent" audio in slideshow with Manual transitions

    What I want:
    Add music to a slideshow, which will loop as the slideshow plays;
    AND
    Slide duration = Manual
    WITH
    Dissolve transition.
    Is this possible?
When I add audio to a slideshow, the "Manual" option under the "Slide duration" dropdown grays out. I can arrow through the slideshow, but the transitions disappear and the audio skips around.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Scott
And welcome to apple discussions. As soon as you add an audio file to a manually advanced slideshow w/in iDvd'09, guess what happens?
It automatically becomes a fit to audio slideshow.
Can't do this within iDvd via the traditional approach of making a slideshow within iDvd only (sorry). I'm assuming you already know how to make a slideshow advance manually with dissolve as the transition.
Here's what I suggest if iDvd'09 is the only app at your disposal currently.
Workaround: Go ahead and make the manual slideshow normally (no audio). Now add any music files you wish to the dvd rom section of the dvd. If you plan to use the laptop as the presentation hardware connected to an LCD projector to TV out; then launch iTunes also from the music files contained within the dvd rom section and then go back to iDvd slideshow feature and play your manual slideshow as you wish while music loops in the background. In other words, you'll have to use iTunes and iDvd simultaneously to meet your objective as stated above.
If you'd like I can test this feature later w/in DVDSP.
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/dvdstudiopro/intuitive-design-environment.ht ml
Might take me a while to post the results though. Roxio Toast might also be worth looking into for slideshows.

  • IDVD slideshow audio sync off on burned DVD

Others have listed this problem, but no apparent solution. If this is a bug, has it been fixed in iLife'09?
Specifically, a slide show with a mix of photos and video clips late in the slideshow, all imported from iPhoto, advances the audio associated with the video clips several minutes relative to the video. The problem only shows up when the disc is burned, it is fine in preview mode,

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Do you have the slideshow setting set to mute the added audio when you play the video clips?
You might consider assembling the slideshow iniMovie HD 6 where you can precisely align the music where you want. Save and close iMovie and drag the project file into an iDVD slideshow (so you can scale the movie to the TV safe area).

  • Trying to use Adobe Encore to create a manual advance keynote BD-ISO

    Hi All,
    Background:
I'm a media designer that produces corporate media content for a recruiting firm.
    Objective:
I'm  trying to devise a way for presenters in our sales offices to run  standardized group interview and training HD keynote shows without the use of a DVD player or a laptop on their LCD screens.
Laptops=  every manager needs an apple computer and keynote software to run the  content + its messy to have to manage wired connections to the mounted  LCD panels all the time.
DVD Players= any updates that  are required to this content from time to time make the idea of  re-shipping physical DVD's logistically undesirable.
    Proposed Solution:
Perminently  integrate a BD-ISO (menu) compatible HD media player into our office  setups that will run manual advance Keynote BD-ISO's (created in Encore)  where any new updates can just be downloaded from a central server in  the form of a Blu-ray master iso image by the end-user, dropped on their  USB flash drive, and played through the media player.
Here's the workflow I've come up with (Problem to follow):
    1. Design a 1280x720 keynote presentation in Apple iWork's Keynote '09
    2. Export a timed (Intervals: 5 sec/between each slide & 2 sec/between each object animation) h.264 | 1280x720 | 29.97 quicktime .mov file
    3. Create Blu Ray Encore Project (1280x720, h.264, 29.97)
    4. Import .mov file as timeline
    5. Insert chapter markers at the beggining of every animation/transition (On diagram below- I'm talking about Ch. 3 & 5)
    6. Insert a second chapter marker directly before each of the  previous set of chapter markers as close together as encore will allow (On diagram below- I'm talking about Ch. 2 & 4)
    7. Set "end action" on each of the second set of chapter points (Ch. 2 & 4 below) to "Link back to here" so that the still image hold that occures after each "keynote animation" (thanks to the 2 sec hold time I set in the Keynote export- see step 2 above) is isolated so the playback loops on that chapter (which is a still frame because of the 2 sec pause between animations as set in keynote export).
Note on this technique: Idea is to set up the timeline and chapter end actions so that the playback loops on a few identical frames that exist between the two "extremely-close-together" chapter points (creating a "pause" effect) until the end user hits "Next Chapter" button on remote to jump to the proceeding chapter that contains the next keynote animation or tranistion.
    Diagram:
    (timeline->    ...---------------Ch.2<-- -->Ch.3(beggining of  animation)-------------------------------------(end of animation)Ch.4<-- -->Ch.5------------------------->)
    8. Set "First Play," "Title Button," and "Timeline End Action" to Ch.1  of the timeline (so it starts there when ISO is activated and loops  back to there at the end of the presentation).
    9. Export as "Blu-ray" Image
    10. Load iso file on a USB flash drive, plug it into BD-ISO (menu) supported media player, and run the ISO and Voila!! = HD Keynote presentation running from BD-ISO file on a media player. PERFECT SOLUTION....
    PROBLEM:
One of the most marketable (due to affordable price-point) BD-ISO (full menu support) media players is the HDX BD1. When I run the ISO file on this unit, it will play the first chapter, and pause and loop on chapter 2 like it is supposed to, creating the pause effect; But when I select "next chapter" it says "cannot_execute"- and I cannot proceed to the next transition/animation. I've previewed the setup in the encore preview feature and it behave's perfectly.
I'd be quick to say its a hardware issue but I've checked out several YouTube videos with people demoing this exact media player running and navigating feature film BD-ISO's (selecting "next chapter" and all) without any issues at all.
I've mastered something similar to this technique using DVDSP on SD DVD's, because DVDSP allows me to infinitley pause playpack ON each chapter point, not even needing the use of the "loop" feature I've set up in encore; But Adobe Encore doesn't offer a "pause" end action so I've come up with this as the next best thing. Although it doesn't play back properly on a full BD-ISO NAVI supported media player.
    QUESTIONS:
    1. Based on this setup, is there anything obvious I'm missing in Adobe Encore that would eleviate this playback problem on the media player?
    2. Is there another authoring workflow within Encore that would allow me to acheive Keynote motion graphic, manual-advance slideshows?
    Thanks for help in advance.

    Hi Chad,
The most probable explanation is that Encore is creating incorrect navigation commands. It is well known and documented that Encore Blu-ray navigation works only for the simplest cases.
This should be easy to fix using BluStreak Tracer, Rivergate Software's upcoming post-authoring solution:
    http://blustreak.dvdafteredit.com/blustreak-tracer-macintosh
If you will prepare a small test case (1 GB or less) and post it on an FTP server, I will take a look and attempt to update it for you. You can contact me through our web site's contact page.

    Larry

  • How to control attributes in 'Add Fields' in af:query Advance mode

    Hi,
The VO attributes those set Queriable=false doesn't appear in the Add Fields dropdown in ad:query advance mode.
But I have few attributes in a VO those required to use in VO query so I cannot set those attrbutes Queriable as false.
Also observed that QBE doesn't work for the attributes whose Queriable set as false.
So can someone please suggest me how to achieve below,
VO attribute which having Queriable=true but doesn't appear in 'Add Fields' dropdown in af:query advance mode.

    Hi Naresh
    Thanks for your reply.
In ViewCriteria -> UI Hints we can set attribute Rendered Mode as never, but that perticular attribute still appear in 'Add Fields' section.
I think renderedMode=never means that attribute doesn't appear in Advance or Basic mode user need to manually select that attribute.
So please suggest me how to achive my requirement.

  • Adding/DELETING Titles & Comments to Individual Photos In An iDVD Slideshow

I am running iDVD 6.0.3 where I have 85 titled photos [selected, not imported, from Media/Photos into iDVD] already entered into an iDVD slideshow. I would like to have a title on ONLY the FIRST photo. The iDVD "Help Menu" makes it sound like this wish of mine would be possible as it states: "You don't have to include text for all the images. Only text you add will appear in your slideshow; the placeholder text will not appear."
I do know HOW to add a title and/or comment to the FIRST photo, but how do I DELETE the title and or comment from the other 84 photos? Do I have to go through each one and MANUALLY delete each title? That seems like a LOT of trouble, and perhaps I am just missing a way to do this more easily???
I know about using the gear shaped Settings feature to check "Show titles and comments", but that is where it includes the titles that are already on all of the 85 photo from when I chose them from the Media/Photos pane; unless, it seems, that I were to delete the other 84 titles and/or comments INDIVIDUALLY.

Yes, you are right, I could make a "title photo" in iPhoto from a card I could design [I do not have Photoshop Elements] and use that for the title. Thank you. It just seems like this same thing should be able to be done within iDVD itself with the way they have the directions written in the iDVD "Help Menu".
After I made my original post on this topic, I think I solved my own question using a round-about method. I had to use the "batch change" to "no title" in iPhoto BEFORE selecting my 85 photos in iDVD slideshow. That way all of the title/comment areas were blank when I brought them into iDVD, and then I could just add titles or comments to the exact individual photo of the 85 that I wanted to label. So I was able to accomplish what I wanted it to do. It just seems, however, that iDVD should have an option in iDVD to add title/comments to individual photos without having to take the titles off all of the labels ahead of time in iPhoto. If the iPhoto program can allow the titles of photos to be removed as a "batch change", it seems that iDVD should have been designed with that same feature! Or maybe I am missing something here?

  • Manual advance? Not always.

    HI,
This is my first attempt using Encore DVD2. I am playing with some of the features and am having a problem with slideshows.
I want to have a biography section on the DVD I am working on. The bios range from 2 to 3 pages each. They are snapshots of a timeline from another program, stored as BMPs and imported to Encore, apparently as PNGs. If I set the manual advance button for the bio it seems to apply the manual function to only the first slide and then after you advance to the second it displays the next slides for only the default 6 seconds and then goes to black. It won't even do the end function of going back to the bio menu. I did find that on some bios, if I click next chapter in the preview it will pop back to the last slide and if you click again, it will, sometimes, go to the menu like it directed too. Oh yeah, if I turn off the general manual advance and apply it slide by slide I get the same result.
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? I am waiting for the Adobe Classroom in a Book on Encore 2.0 to show up and it might answer some of this, in the meantime I'm hoping someone might have some thoughts on this.

    Jeff,
Thanks for answering, sorry I took so long to read your response.
I am not advanced enough yet to do anything esoteric. I'm just proud that I can start the program.
I checked the overide for all the menu buttons and everthing says "Not Set"
In the Slideshow options I have
Unchecked... Fit slideshow to audio duration, Loop audio (I have no audio behind the biographies, Random Pan and zoom.
The checked item is Manual Advance.
I have the slide duration set to 6 seconds (default I think)
    There are no transitions selected.
No matter what I did, when I previewed the slide show, only the first slide was manual advance. I tried different slide durations, including 0, just to see what would happen.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.
I'm hoping my Classroom in a Book book shows up soon.
    Thanks

  • SRW2008P - QoS Advanced Mode is greyed out

    Hello,
in the QoS-section of the SRW2008P web-interface I can choose only between Disable and Basic, Advanced mode is greyed out.
I've created a new ACL but QoS Advanced mode isn't available.
What can I do to activate it?
    Boot Version: 1.0.1
    Software Version: 1.0.4
    Hardware Version: 00.03.00
Any help much appreciated, thanks in advance!

    Hi Martin
There is a old english expression, Brad " let the cat is out of the bag"
The light version of CLI isn't support by Small Business Support Center (SBSC) on the older model SRW.  But as Brad intimated, it works fine.
Martin, if you  need support by SBSC on the older SRW2008P, the folks at SBSC will most likely want to share the GUI during a webex session and  look at the GUI configuration.
If you have to try LCLI, well  I  better tell him how to exit out of the un-supported LCLI.
    The way to exit out of this unsupported CLI and  to 'exit' back from configuration mode  to the user prompt and type;
    'debug' and then 'menu'
Just for everyones information, when we refreshed the  SRW2008P  with new product  p/n SRW2008P-K9-NA (North America variety) the product management team gave it a supported CLI with version 1.1 of the firmware.
This newer SRW2009-K9_NA (300 series switch),   also has a CLI manual that can be downloaded.
The SRW2008-K9-NA is the new 300 series switch technology and the resfreshed version of the old SRW2008P,
    So
    old EOS/EOL switch     order p/n  SRW2008P
refreshed  switch         order p/n  SRW2008P-K9-NA (SG300-10P with two extra active ports.)

  • Help! Magic iDVD slideshow controls instantly vanish

I’m working with Magic iDVD & trying to figure out how one actually controls the:
    1. slideshow volume
    2. slideshow duration's
    3. and also how one would adjust the transition type (page flip, droplet, etc.)
I actually see how to do this BUT the adjustment preview windows simply doesn’t stay visible long enough to address any actual adjustment.
In fact the controls are only visible for a split second only immediately after I hit the preview button and nothing on the menu bar seems to allow for these controls to become visible until one finishes making all the necessary adjustment. However I was able to see (or rather take a quick peek) at these controls in the preview window after hitting the preview button on the bottom left corner of the window.... but like I said only for a split second.
These controls vanish so quickly that I can’t even capture a quick screen shot of them on the computer however I was able to take a snapshot with my digital camera. Here are the controls that are visible but only for a split second apparently. My question is ... How do I make these controls stay visible until I finish addressing all the necessary adjustments without it vanishing first?

You are doing something wrong. I just tried 'Magic iDVD' and everything worked fine.
You must, however, recognize that the photo 'wells' in the Magic iDVD set up page are NOT for individual images! Each 'well' is a slideshow. Drag all the images for one slideshow into the same 'well'. Then drag the audio for that slideshow into the same 'well'.
After you have entered all the elements you want to use, hit the 'Create Project' button at the lower right. This will create the actual iDVD 6 project you can edit further (as you would with a 'normal' iDVD project).
BTW, I don't understand your screen shot. You have the map view slideshow edit screen and the Preview Control 'Remote' on the same screenshot. You can't edit the slideshow in the Preview mode. Go into the map view, select the slideshow you want to edit and double-click on it to open it in the edit mode.

  • Simply setup client features with server installed in advanced mode...

    Hi,
If I setup my server in standard "mode" I see that Leopard clients discover my server automatically and the server try to set all clients fatures (Mail accounts, Ical server, etc.).
There is a way to activate this useful fature ALSO with a server installed in "advanced" mode?
My server need to be installed in advanced mode because it's an open directory master with a DNS that serve all my lan.
    Thanks in advance...

    Hi Kranthi_06,
According to your description, you have an environment with reporting services installed, the info given by the client they are using reportingservices with sharepoint integrated mode. In SSMS, you can see two databases with names reportserver$DEN2010 and
    reportserver$DEN2010tempdb.
In Native Mode, in the SQL Server Installation Wizard, if we select Install and configure option, the ReportServer database will be created automatically through Setup. If we choose the Install only option, we must use the Reporting Services Configuration
Manager to create the database manually. By default, the database format is ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB. In SharePoint Mode, we need to create at least one Reporting Services service application by using SharePoint Central Administration or Reporting
Services PowerShell cmdlets, then three databases are created for each Reporting Services service application and the database names by default include a guid that represents the service application. The following are example names of the three SharePoint
    mode databases:
    ReportingService_90a9f37075544f22953c4a62e4a9f370
    ReportingService_90a9f37075544f22953c4a62e4a9f370TempDB
    ReportingService_90a9f37075544f22953c4a62e4a9f370_Alerting
For SSRS 2008 R2 or early versions, we can identify report server mode using the Reporting Services Configuration Manager. For SSRS 2012 or later versions, Reporting Services Configuration Manager no longer supports Reporting Services SharePoint mode. Configuration
of SharePoint mode is completed using SharePoint Central Administration.

  • IDVD slideshow intro

Looking for some info...I got the IDVD slideshow together pretty good but having trouble with the introduction. I'm trying to open the show using text with the marquis then seamlessly move into the picture show. The problem is that this isn't happening. After the marquis intro, the playback stops. Then I have to push the play button again to start the show. I can't get them to link as one continuous show.
    Thanks in advance.

Sorry iDVD doesn't let you change menu functions in that manner.....the themes are neat, but the functions are fairly preset.
The only way to avoid having to use the menu (and push play) to move to the show, it to avoid the menu altogether by using the "autoplay" part of iDVD.
You'd have to add your "marqui" to the slideshow itself........Command-option-4 might grab your marqui as a "still " as it now exists.....add it back to your iPhoto sildeshow. Then use "Send to iDVD" in iPhoto, and just close iDVD when it opens. Then create a new project in iDVD. Go to map view. Then look at your media pane, and find the movie that iPhoto ctreated from your slideshow, and drag it into the autoplay window.
