Idvd stops at "one minute left"

I am trying to burn a dvd slideshow that is no more than 15 minutes long... And it took about two hours to burn, which is fine. However, my mac says 1 minute left, which it has been saying for the pas 45 minutes. I'm stumped? If it is any help, about 2 hours into burning, the dvd ejected, and I reinserted it- then it said 46 minutes to go. Thanks for any help in advance.

After it ejected (the first time) from iDvd on its own ...... did you then test / try to play the finished Dvd using apple's dvd player or any set top dvd player?
Or did no data actually burn to this dvd?

    Hello,
Well my problem is pretty simple, I am trying to create a simple DVD in iDVD with a *.mov file and a *.m4v file.
Everything goes well and pretty quick untill the last step (multiplexing and burning). One one line of the sceen it says "done" one line below that it says "about one minute left" and it stays there, the burn never finishes.
It counts down very good for the last 5 minutes left, and than it stops at "about one minute left".
Does anyone have an idea what can solve this ?
    Thnx.

I burn at an as slow speed possibly eg x1

Back again. Here is what I have found to work. I also have and use a LaCie DVD-R/RW DL external drive and a LaCie external hard drive as well. Since yesterday I have tried a few ways to burn a themed iDVD project having four 56 minute movies on it, amounting to 226 minutes onto a DVD DL disc, capacity 240 minutes. Apple tech support really didn't know what to do but gave me a very good tip. I had two options left. Apple tech support's tip was to try disc image. One of the replies on a thread with this subject said not to, but my experience today is good. Put your project onto "Burn to disc image," under "iDVD, file." Yesterday encoding took me 23 1/2 hours. Overnight for iDVD disc image, encoding took 21 1/2 hours (again) while I slept. This morning I tried to copy/burn disc image to a DVD with Roxio Toast 7, and it stopped near the end of the burn with some kind of "error" message. So then I tried Utilities> Disc Utility> Burn icon, and followed it through. Be sure to click the DVD DL drive in the window "Burn disc in:". I had one other problem though. At the end of a 46 minute copy, it started to verify, and at the end of verify it rejected the burn. So I tried again, and when "verify" appeared, I clicked on "Skip." The disc finished burning and is doing fine and well. A long and tortuous process, but at last something works. I made several additional copies using Disc Utility. Best wishes. Chuck, Chicago.

First, I do not think that mixing widescreen and standard makes a difference in iDVD.
Second, you should use a better brand of DVD disk. Also, many of us have experienced fewer problems on playback with DVD-R disks. Recommended brands here are Verbatim, Maxell and Taio Yuden. Memorex and TDK are not consistent and may not give you a correct burn. They apparently have fewer layers in the composition of the disk. I have always used Verbatim DVD-R disks and have not had any burn problems.
Also, choose a slower burn speed, 4x or less.
Third, to determine if the iDVD project will burn properly, create a disk image file (from within iDVD, go File->Save as Disk Image) and test it. Mount the disk image and then open DVD Player (in Applications) and view your project. If it plays correctly, you can then burn the actual DVD disk from the disk image file using Disk Utility.

I did everything I've seen suggested, but a friend (who used to be an Apple Genius) suggested that I do a safe reboot (by holding down the shift key until you see the spinning gear on grey background, then release, then restart when your start-up screen appears).
It worked, and I got a clean burn from iDVD.
Hopefully this can help other people.

Well, I finally got it, and it was odd enough to post here incase anyone looks this topic up again. Many things were tried, including burning the uneditited film, the edited film without titles and chapter markers, abbreviating the chapter markers in case length was the issue (remember the old iMovie used to truncate them when moving to iDVD?). In the process, I noticed that one, and only one, chapter marker was on the same line as the title marker. All the others were on the line above. The only way I seemed able to change that was to clip a few seconds of film. After that last clip, the offending marker took a place on the line above, as were all the others. That run published, compiled completely and burned. That's one for the books.

Quit all other programs and open Disk Utility
Select your "MacintoshHD" drive on the left and indented and click Erase > Erase Free Space > Zero and let it complete.
Also run First Aid > Repair Disk and permisisons.
If Repair disk gives a error, you have a bigger problem, if repair permisisons fixes and completes, even if it fixes the same thing twice if you click it again, it's ok. Apple just changed things.
You should be able to download the file sucessfully this time, if not, take it to another location with better/faster internet.
If not then run through this list

  • Problem with one minute left

Hello- Thank you in advance for your help. Several times now when I am burning my movie, it gets all the way to the end. My screen says: Creating Your DVD, Multiplexing and burning..., it says done underneath that but it says Time reamining: about one minute
However, the DVD has popped out with that screen up. When I put it in it plays parts of the movie, the beginning, but it freezes part way through and when I go to scene selection it will only play the first scene. What is happening? I put my screen saver to never go off thinking it might be that. I also just cleaned out the DVD slot by spraying it. Thank you. Thank you!

*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:*
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
    • Program miss-match: iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard

iDVD pref file resides: Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences and is named:

  • Burn DVD frozen at one minute left

    Hi,
I need a DVD for a presentation tomorrow and never use iDVD much, preferring PTpublisher. But it would not import the QT.mov file. iDVD started burning the DVD but got to the "time remaining: about one minute" stage and stuck there. I am burning on my Disk Duplicator since the internal drive says some other application has control - which it doesn't. However there is a blank DVD in there that did not show up on the "finder" (or, in my case, the "loser")
What the heck is wrong with it? I couldn't seem to get it to create a trial disk image either - that I could use with my Discribe and my Bravo II to copy over a DVD image.
I am using a year-old, almost, iMac quadcore with tons of memory and a SSD.
Have to get something before noon tomorrow!
    please give me an idea.
    Barry

    Hi
First step is to split process into an encoding step and a burning step. Seem's like You tested this.
    • Save as a DiskImage - test and see if this is OK
    • Burn this by use of Disk Util tool
If error persist on "Save as a DiskImage" step (encoding process) then
    • trash iDVD pref file
    • secure a minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk
    • repair Permissions
    • go trough material used so that they are in a flavor that iDVD can use
If error in Burn stage - then
    • Use of cheap brands usually do not work - I only use Verbatim
    • Use of DVD-type - I only use DVD-R as they play on more even older DVD-Players - NEVER +/-RW DVDs
    • Burn speed set down to x4 -=> Less burn errors => DVD plays better
    • Still free space on Start-Up hard disk is essential - I never go under 25Gb
If this is OK - then one usually resort to a full new installment of iDVD
alt rout if everything's fails is to use another encoding program as Roxio Toast™

  • IPad Dictation stops after one minute

When I dictate a message on my iPad the connection is cut after a short period ranging from 30 seconds to 1 minute. Is that due to heavy traffic at Apple's end or do I have a wifi or Internet problem on my end?

I think I have at least a partial solution. Restart your iPad. i was only getting 3 to 5 seconds before the microphone turned all purple and stopped recording. After a full restart I got about 25 or 30 seconds before it automatically translated. For example right now I've written all of this second third and fourth and fifth sentences with one recording.
But, BUT-after just two or three hours of using my iPad heavily, the recording time went back down to two or three or four seconds. I then had to do another restart.
When I restarted this time I went in manually and shut down each application that was showing in the bottom bar area. I then re-restarted the iPad.
30 seconds is really more than enough recording time. But 2, 3, 4 or 5 seconds is really very insufficient. Why is this recording time changing? For the first five weeks I used it, it didn't change. Now it seems to be going down quickly.
Is it possible that having 40 or 50 programs loaded is causing this? Is it possible that having nearly 300 programs on the iPad is causing this?
And that brings up a good point: on the bottom bar when you clich the home button twice and then hold an app to cause  the small x's to appear in the upper left corner, you can only shut down one program at a time. So you start from the upper left in the bar which is exhibiting seven programs at one time, the you click and you click and you click and eventually all seven are closed and seven more appear and you close them 1 at a time. ANYWAY TO CLOSE ALL APPS AT ONCE? I can easily have more than 50 programs "open" or is that "active". Will shutting all these programs down give me more recording time? Right now this is recording very well. This entire paragraph was done on just two recording sessions.
Any and all feedback really appreciated. In the past four weeks I've hardly ever use my external Bluetooth keyboard-because I dictate everything.
    Best regards,
    Steve

  • Whenever I play a movie on itunes, it stops after one minute.  How can I fix?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled without any luck.  All the content on my computer will stream through Apple TV so I think somehow the problem is in iTunes.

  • Why does the video I rendered as Quicktime file stop playing at one minute?

Hey guys! I need your help big time!
I am making a slideshow type video of pictures with titles and I am adding keyframes and using the Tweening tool between frames to add transitions to the video. I have added all the tweening slides, and when I export the video I am exporting it as a Quicktime file. When I watch the video all the transitions are good, but the entire video will not play.
There are 9 photos in the video and when I first play the video normally the first 5 pictures and their transitions show up, and then the video "stops" because it has reached one minute ("the end"), but if you let it sit there then the other 4 pictures and their transitions still play but the video is technically stopped.
Then when you rewind the video back to 30 or so seconds the 5th picture that it previously stopped at one minute on occurs at 30 seconds and then the other 4 play correctly with their transitions from 30 seconds to a minute.
I am going to be making several small video files like this and then merging them together to create the full file and before I go any further in the process I need to make sure that the video file Photoshop is rendering for me is the FULL file. Please, if anyone at all knows how to help me with this, then please do!
    Thank you for your help!!
