IDVD vers. 6 and 8 simultanously...?

iM08 keeps the old version of iMHD6 ... (for good reasons)...
now, my question:
IDVD08 has some minor flaws (manual chapter markers), but offers some new, very useful features (new encoding, manual burn speed.. )
anyone tried a peaceful co-existence of both versions on one Mac?
does simple re-naming (iDVD_old) do perserve vers6 from being erased?
would be a second user a usefull workaround ...?
I'm a bit shy to 'overwrite' my whole, stable suite of tools..

More than likely its a hardware issue, I have never encountered such a problem and best bet is to just go get it replaced. If you have insurance on your device apple will replace it as long as there was no water damage, if you dont have insurance they will charge $200 more or less. Hope you get it fixed

How can I uninstall iDVD '08 and install iDVD '06?

There's a reported bug among iDVD '08 users where burning
large projects are resulting in audio synch problems near the
end of the burned DVD.
In other words, the audio slowly goes out of synch towards the
end of burned projects.
This is a problem inherent with 'DVD '08.
I tried uninstalling iDVD '08 and replacing with '06 but it doesn't
work. You try that and iDVD will not launch at all.
Even tried to partition my drive and install iLife '06 to the partition
but the system will not let me.
Anyone have a solution how to completely uninstall iLife '08
components and install iLife '06?

I upgraded to iLife 08 from 06 (bad move). I couldn't install iMovie because my Mac is too old (must be Intel-based or comparable). iDVD didn't work--the document window was always black, even with a theme selected. The Virtual Band function in GarageBand did nothing whatsoever. I trashed the '08 applications, moved all Preferences files to my desktop, reinstalled iLife '06. Now, iDVD won't launch--just flashes the menu bar and exits back to the Finder. So, I have several DVD projects on my system that I cannot finish because I cannot reinstall iLife '06 (like the originator of this problem, "How can I uninstall iDVD '08 and install iDVD '06?") I hope someone has an answer as this is frustrating and costly to my small business.

IDVD 6 and Mac Pro

I've successfully burned many DVD's on my old G4 using iDVD 4 and iDVD 5, and they always played well on my JVC DVD player, and they still do. I just burned a DVD on my new Mac Pro using iDVD 6 and now it won't play on my DVD player. Says, "No Disc". It does play on my computer. What am I doing wrong?

burning from a disc image will work with the media you have chosen (verbatim) but please remember to also lower the burn speed with apple's Disc Utilities or Roxio Toast to 4x or slower (slower is better).

Idvd #8 and widescreen still doesnt work!?

ok, i shot some HDV 1080i, downconverted it as sd widescreen, edited in imovie as widescreen, exported using quicktime as 16X9 853X480 dv video, imported that into idvd widescreen, and the preview shows 4X3. HOW HARD IS IT FOR THIS TO WORK CORRECTLY? Does apple actually expect us to all just buy apple tv's instead?

I just updated to iDVD 08
I have anamorphic 16x9 QuickTime .MOV files I created from my Final Cut Pro project file. These do not appear as widescreen in a WS iDVD project. That started all of this.
I've created a new copy of the video using Anamorphicizer -- no luck
When I run idvd-ws-fix from terminal,
I created an image file from iDVD and mounted the image file as TEST_DVD. In terminal I ran the script:

The script ran fine and created my-newl-disc.img in the applications folder where I had stored the script folder.
HOWEVER, when I mounted the new image and played it in the MAC DVD player, my anamorphic video was still crushed to 4x3. Very frustrating.
I then opened a .IFO file form the new image TS_VIDEOS directory in HexEdit. When I look at 00000200 all I see is a row of zeros.
Next, I mounted the image again and copied both TS directories into a test directory. I changed permissions in both AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS directories to read & write, apply to everything (requires your user password to confirm).
I opened the VVIDEO_TS directory in myDVDEdit. I edited: VMG Menu; VTS Menu 1; and VTS 1. In each case, using the VMG or VTS menu tab, I changed Aspect from Auto pan Pan&Scan Letterbox to 16x9 for both VMG Menu and VTS Menu; and from 4x3 to 16x9 for VTS 1. myDVDEdit stated that the video aspect ratio is not the sasme as the stream one. Do you want to correct the VOB files? I hit CORRECT.
When I opened the VIDEO_TS folder in DVD player, my anamorphic video finally played wide screen.
I ran this test again from a new disk image created from iDVD. I mounted the image, copied the TS directories in to a second test folder, changed permissions on both TS directories, then opened the new test directory in myDVDEdit. I made all the changes noted above and hit SAVE.
I opened the new test VIDEO_TS directory in DVD player and my anamorpohic video played wide screen.
I believe I had tried this before with no luck because I failed to change VTS 1 to 16x9.
Next I burned a DVD from the image file using Disk Utility.
When I played it with DVD player -- back to square one! The anamorpohic video played squished as 4x3. Did the same when I played it on my setup DVD player attached to a 4x3 crt TV.
I opened the VTS01O.IF, in HexEdit, scrolled down to 00000200 and found the first entry was 4F. I changed this to 4E and saved the file. Did the same for BTS010.BUP. I left the VIDEO_TS.IFO file set to 00
I then burned a new DVD. No luck.

IDVD- Copy and Paste

I was working in IDVD yesterday and I wanted to cut and paste some of the photos from the slideshow to move to another slideshow. I went to edit, selected the slides and it highlighted them. At first I tried to copy them and move them to the new slideshow and it didn't work. I went back and tried to cut the photos and was unsuccessful, however, it kept tricking me to think I could do this action because it would highlight all the photos and when I picked cut- the pictures were gone. When I went to paste I had no luck. Does anyone have any experience with this?

ODP.NET needs to be installed on the client. OraOps9.dll is part of ODP.NET, not the Oracle Client.
Also, if an application is built with the 10g ODP.NET, can it be run from a machine with OraOps9.dll?
If an application is built with 10g ODP.NET, it can be run with 9.2 ODP.NET as long as you do not use any 10g APIs. The new features in 10g ODP.NET are included in the doc and the ODP.NET FAQ for your reference.

Is this an NXT robot and are you deploying your code on the robot? Are you running the robot from a VI on you PC using blue tooth, etc... ?
If you are running both VI's in LabVIEW you can use parallel loops. If they have to communicate with each other, then you have to decide which approach to use with parallel loop communication. Like simple variables or more complex choices like queue, etc...
Can you provide more information about your system and version of LabVIEW?

Triggering and simultaneous measurements

Hi everybody
I've written a Vi to to acquire data simultaneously from 7 devices. I'll be using cDAQ9178 with NI9203. The vi will acquire current values 4 to 20mA. Could you please check the attached file and let me know if I need to improve it.
I have some question and I should be grateful if anyone can help me to answer them.
1. How to open the binary file from write to measurement file by EXCEL?
2. Is it better to use write to spreadsheet for data logging, if yes how to include the time column??
3. I'm going to use external signal for triggering through PIF0 port, is it Ok to do that through dag assistance?? I've not tried yet but it seems straightforward?
4. Finally I have another vi for valve control that should be triggered with the measurement vi, is their any way to do that?? I was thinking about notifiers but I don't know how to use them ?
Sorry for asking to much I really in urgent need of all of this. I should finish my data acquisition system by Tuesday

If you select TDMS as the file format in the write to measurement file, you should be able to open it directly from Excel if you install the TDMS Excel Add-In. Be aware that at 1kHz data rate, you will exceed the capability of old versions of Excel to read the entire file in about 65 seconds. Newer versions can read more, but anything over a couple thousand points gets difficult to analyze. That is about my limit. Over this, I go to something else for analysis, such as LabVIEW or Mathematica.

The write to spreadsheet file is very inefficient for data logging and cannot be recommended. Given your data (an array of waveforms), TDMS is your best bet. The write to measurement file Express VI is the easy way to do this. I, personally, prefer the control I get from using the TDMS API directly. Note that under the hood, the output of the DAQ Assistant is an array of waveforms with individual t0s and dts. The t0s are all different due to the fact that your 9203 is a scanned device, not a simultaneously sampled device. It scans at 200kHz, so the differences are not large, but they are there. I would convert the DDT into an array of waveforms, then use the native TDMS API, but I have a lot of experience. Since you are in a hurry, the Express VI using TDMS is probably your best bet.
3. I'm going to use external signal for triggering through PIF0 port, is it Ok to do that through dag assistance?? I've not tried yet but it seems straightforward?
That should work fine. Given your continuous acquisition, the trigger will only start the acquisition, not gate it or trigger it at later times.
4. Finally I have another vi for valve control that should be triggered with the measurement vi, is their any way to do that?
We do not have enough information to answer this question. Specifically, how is the valve being triggered (boards being used, hardware interface, software interface). The ideal way would be to run it through the same cDAQ 9178 so that it can be synchronized through hardware. Software synchronization cannot be guaranteed better than about ±50ms. Read up on how to synchronize things through DAQmx and you should be good.

Burning downloaded iTunes TV shows in iDVD 2 and iMovie 3

I'm very new to burning CD's on my computer, i've never done it before, although ive known I have the capability. What im trying to do is burn a DVD of my downloaded TV shows from iTunes, but I dont know where to begin really. I tried uploading the file directly into iDVD which didn't work, as well as importing it into iMovie so i could put it in iDVD afterwards and it said the file could not be "parced". As i said I'm new to all of this, and might not be able to do it at all, but I would like to know if through new programs i would be able ot burn a DVD of the shows i have bought from iTunes.

Are there any other programs you know of that would work??

In product cost by period you are generally using product cost collectors. The preliminary cost estimate is the estimated cost for the product cost collector prior to manufacturing. The cost estimate is calculated when the product cost collector is saved and the estimate is based on the costing variant that is assigned. Simultaneous costing happens as a result of manufanufacturing and the confirmation process. It represents the cost of the materials, activitities, and overhead that are actually charged to the product cost collector. Typically, with product cost collectors materials and activities are backflushed. The amount of the backflush can be based on the preliminary product cost estimate or a standard cost estimate. Simultaneous costing uses a different costing variant then preliminary costing, so valuation strategies for materials, activities, and overhead can be different for both as well.

How do I paste .mov video in to iDVD 3 and burn?

I have a nearly 2 GB video .mov file I want to burn to a DVD so I can play it in my television DVD player, but when I paste the file into iDVD 3 and put the disk in to burn it does not work. What am I doing wrong?

• Time = Movie duration + Menu time (can take 15 min or even more. I have movies on 500Mb that do not fit and on 50Gb that fit's nicely)
iDVD - cares about Video codec
.mov is no video codec - it is a container as -avi, .mp4, .m4v, .wmv etc and can hold codecs that works nicely and most often not.
• Open Your movie in QuickTime-player. OK - then here open Inspector (cmd-I) and read Video format/codec: nnnnnnnnn
What does it say ?
iDVD 3 - is so old that I no longer have any Mac that runs it - so I'm limited to test out where the problem lies.

Sure.
In the Layers pane, IF all of your layers are already in a single Group (if you're really a beginner, then you probably just have the one group), all you need to do is select the Group "layer" containing your design elements and clone it (type - k) -- you'll get a new layer in a new group if it's a top level group of the project called Clone Layer. (If you have more than one group, select all of them --- however, if there is an FCPX Placeholder-drop-zone-looking-layer with a label like Effect Source or Title Background, don't select that -- you'll need to command-click select just the layers that make up your logo design). [You can alternately select *everything* and command click the layers you do not want to include in the Clone.]
Creating a clone of anything in no way changes that object or objects. A clone is like a composite viewer for objects/layers -- like a tv screen is to broadcast signals...
Uncheck the Cloned Group (or selected objects - if still selected, unchecking one will uncheck all of the selected layers) to inactivate it (this will not affect the clone visibility.)
Select the Clone Layer.
Use the Properties > Transform tools to scale and position the clone layer (changing the blend mode to something like hard light, overlay or similar, and adjusting the opacity makes for a nice "watermark" [corner logo]).

I have iDVD 5 and a usb Plextor PX-716A DVD Burner. I am trying to burn an iMovie HD project and when it opens iDVD it gives me the message "iDVD cannot be opened because the required hardware could not be found." I believe it is just not finding my USB drive. So, How do I configure iDVD to work with my USB drive.

Hello Aaron,
iDVD 5 does not natively support external burners. A workaround is to create a disk image (File > Save as Disk image) in iDVD. This creates an .img file on your HDD, that can be stored for future use and gives you the option to preview your DVD on your Mac before burning to disc.
Now use either Disc Utility or, if you have, Toast to burn your DVD at slow speed. 4x is acceptable, 2x (... or even 1x) is better.

My first two thoughts
• Shared to Media Browser - BUT as Large or HD - try Medium !
• audio from iTunes - use to go silent
- in iTunes
- Create a new PlayList with needed audio
- BURN this as a standard Audio-CD (.aiff) - NOT .mp3
- use the files on this CD in Your Movie project - I ALWAYS DO - and only use .aiff ever - never .mp3'
My notes on this:
No audio on DVD disc.
Most common origin.
1. Imported audio from iTunes.
• In iTunes copy out as an Audio-CD .aiff (Same as played on standard Stereo CD - no .mp3)
• Use this in Your movie project
2. Low - Free Space on Start-up/Boot/Internal/Mac OS Hard disk makes it hard for iMovie to work as intended.
Down to 1.3 GB and it doesn’t work - especially audio don’t migrate over to Media Browser
(iM’08 & 09)
3. Material in iMovie’08 & 09 - Shared to Media Browser and here selected as Large
large.m4v. It silenced out this project in iDVD. By making a slight alteration - provoking it to ask for a new Share/Publish to Media Browser and here selecting 640x480 - and audio was back when a new iDVD project was created including this movie.
Minuscular - - 176x144

Large - - - - - - 720x540 960x540
HD - - - - - - - - 1280x720
4. Strange audio formats like .mp3, .avi etc.
• Change them to .aiff. Use an audio editor like Audacity (free)

Had the same problem; some Googling around gave me a kludgy, but effective fix
Downgrade Perian from recent versions back to version 1.0.
That worked for me, and so far I haven't encountered any deficiencies — except it takes more advanced versions of Perian to enable QuickTime to handle subtitles in .srt format — that I have noticed.
7. GarageBand fix.
In this set audio to 44.1 kHz (Klaus1 suggestion)
(if this don’t work try 48 kHz - me guessing)
Before burning the DVD.
• Do a DiskImage (File menu and down)
• Double click on the .img file
• Test it with Apple DVD-player
If it’s OK then make Your DVD.
Burn at x1 speed.... (or x4)
• In iDVD 08 - or - 09
• Burn from DiskImage with Apple’s Disk Utilities application
• OR burn with Roxio Toast™ if You got it
