IDVD Will Not Complete Burning

I'm not quite sure why iDVD is having this problem. I have been able to burn DVDs in the past using the app, and all of a sudden, it won't seem to complete fully what I direct it to do. Can someone help point me in the right direction? This the screen I get--the DVD will pop out, and iDVD will stay on this screen until I hit cancel.

I had trouble burning anything with iDVD, yet I was able to save what I was doing as a disk image, and that burned okay. I could burn a CD from iTunes fine. Didn't know what was going on. Someone suggested cleaning the burning drive's lens with a can of compressed air. I also changed dvd brands to Verbatim (usually works fine) and S*ny. tdk may work....anyways, long story short, I'm back in business burning stuff with no problem whatever. repairing permissions and trashing preferences may help, too. Just posting this in the hopes that it may help someone. btw, I have a stock Optiarc drive and a Lite-On

IDVD will not finish burning

I am burning a project with 4 motian menus and about 56 minute movie. When I go to burn it, the whole thing just stops when it's almost done the audio part.
The Project is almost 3 GB. I didn't relize my harddrive needed twice as much extra space to burn so I moved the projects to my other drive that was much cleaner.
So, I've been waiting for this ALL day, I've done it twice and I don't have a DVD to watch. Is there a reason for this? I thought I did everything right.
(I need this to burn as I need my harddrive space back for another movie.)

Even though Apple says 2X the DVD size, in reality you should have more. To create the DVD, iDVD must make a file of the encoded audio, the encoded video, and a muxed file that has them combined. This, by itself, is at least 2X the DVD size. But in addition to that, you want to give your system plenty of room to breathe and swap space for your virtual memory.......so get some more free space. I'd say 20GB free....you might think this is overkill, but it has helped others, so get as much as you can in any case.

iDVD will often seem to hang at this part, you should let it keep trying to finish even if it seems to have stopped.

Or you just plain need more hard drive space. If you want to make movies, buy more external (HFS+ formatted) hard drives. No such thing as too much space......

Idvd will not burn after upgrade to maverick

Hello-
I just upgraded to maverick and now iDVD will not burn a DVD - says it does not have a compatible superdrive. It was working fine until I upgraded. How can I burn a nice DVD now?

Suggestion only. Before launching, did you also check for updates via apple's software updater?

Like it says in the title...My iDvd will not burn a disc...there is an encoding error that comes up after the title screen.
Here is the process that I have been doing.
1. put in a blank disk and with the project already being done, i hit burn (not too hard).
2. iDvd then starts to encode the title.
3. After the title has been encoded, the burning stops and a message comes up saying "there was an error during encoding" and when ever I try to burn the same message keeps on coming up.
I am running version 7.0.4

Try using this workflow:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
Then you can concentrate on the content if you can't create a disk image of the project.

IDVD will not launch to burn DVD

In my iMovie HD 5.0.2, the iDVD will not launch to burn a DVD. I have tried everything. When clicking the iDVD, it says to go to Finder to launch. In Finder, I go to applications and click iDVD and get:You cannot use this version of the application iDVD with this version of Mac OSX.
What are my options???

Just a little confused. I already have iphoto, imovie, garage band etc that would be in a ilife download so what are the benefits? Currently, when I click for software upgrades, there are none. Would downloading ilife really change anything?

If you want to use the iLife programs,per Niels response on your other post, you need to upgrade to iLife '06. Looking at the requirements, iLife '06 is the only version you can upgrade to, as iLife '08 and later require Intel processors for iMovie and other functions. One place you can buy it from is: http://hardcoremac.stores.yahoo.net/ilife06.html .
There are some freebie DVD burning programs available, however, you lose the integration that the iLife programs bring with them.
Roxio makes several programs that will burn DVD's. I've used Toast Titanium for years and can recommend it. See http://www.roxio.com/

My ipod touch is not list as a device on itunes. When I tried do update itunes, I get a ox8007054f error code and the update will not complete.

When saving, try "Save As" but make sure "Include preview in document" is NOT selected.

Welcome to the Apple community.
A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals.

Its been like this for awhile and I can not fix it

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Epson Perfection 1200 scanner continues to function as a flatbed scanner but when I try to scan transparencies/film negs the control panels change in Image Capture but the scanner bar will not complete the overview scan & cannot travel beyond the first 2/3 centimeters. All the communications seem to recognise the scanner and the mode for the intended scan but the necessary overview scan is not completed, nothing comes up on the Image Capture scan window. If I unplug the film adaptor I can get a document scan. When I plug in the adaptor again the Image Capture details change which allows me to select the type of scan required but when the scanner attempts an overview scan it is unable to complete it.
I have had the scanner from new (12 Years) and have previously scanned slides and film with the adaptor but maybe this was before I upgraded my computer (imac 27").
Do I have to buy a new scanner? It seems so close to working correctly.
I have downloaded the Epson recommended driver (5.4) and have Epson Perfection 1200 6.6 Universal showing in the Applications List.
Any thoughts or observations would be much appreciated before I go out and spend money an new hardware.

An app will not completely download from the App Store to my iPhone 5S. Neither can I terminate the download by trying to delete it. The app is useless to me and so I would like to remove the icon from my home screen. How can I do this?

What have you tried to get the app to finish downloading e.g. have you tried logging out and back into your account on your phone, disconnecting and reconnecting to your network, soft-reset of your phone (press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds, ignore the red slider, after which the Apple logo should appear and it should reboot) ?
You could also try downloading the update on your computer's iTunes and see if you can sync it over to your phone (or delete the app its Apps tab when connected to your computer's iTunes and sync the new version - deleting the app will delete its contents).

I upgraded to Yosemite from Mountain Lion a couple months ago, skipping Maverick completely, and I've done any associated updates that Apple told me about. I don't recall which version of Yosemite I have, but I'm sure it is the "latest and greatest".
I've tried re-starting in Safe Mode / Safe Boot and that does the same thing as described above except without the endless restarts. Instead of restarting at some point, SafeBoot proceeds to the white screen and then it hangs until I restart it manually. (I've waited as long os 20-30 minutes with no response).
When I tried the option-command-p-r key combo I never get any chimes or other noises besides the original 1 time boot sound that you would expect to get when starting up a macbook pro.
I was using the mac quite normally (meaning I was doing work I normally do on it and there was no indication of anything wrong) immediately prior to this happening.
The machine is BootCamp(ed) with Windows 8.1 which I use from a VMWare virtual machine instead of natively so that I can have both OSes running at the same time. I also think this is unrelated to my problem. I have been using this setup for more than 2 years.
My upgrade to Yosemite was uneventful and I thought it went well and was very smooth. I don't want to lead attention away from Yosemite, but at this point my problem does not seem related to the upgrade.

Install or Reinstall OS X from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Erase the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
      left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
      the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
      the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
           because it is three times faster than wireless.

My iPhone 4 will not complete a back up. Error - 5000 comes up

Error 5000 appears after "preaparing phone for back up" completes. "Continuing will result in the loss of all contents of this phone" is the message. Phone will not complete a synch and iTunes often goes into "Not responding". I have repaired iTunes by downloading the software from Apple's website. No improvement.
Can anybody offer a solution?

This is a bad situation. Your iPhone is in a state which cannot be backed up, and the Restore will return iPhone to factory specs erasing it. You need to Restore your iPhone to get it working again. If you were experiencing problems before, maybe your iPhone is damaged. If still faulty, and you have Warranty or AppleCare take iPhone to Apple for evaluation. If no coverage and still faulty it may be time for new phone.
