IDVD6 Buffer under-run through View Image
Higtherto a fair run with iDVD6 but suddenly, no matter what I've tried, when I eventually have run through the creation in iDVD then saved to Image View the complete disc build carries right through to the end then closes with the box message tellingme it has failed through buffer under-run. A waste of approximately 11 hours.
I'm employing OSX.3.9 for the job with my undermentioned spec. The film is a holiiday one of 58 mins 30 secs, and I'm working in PAL with a Pioneer 109 and -R disc.
Maybe I should know what is buffer under-run and maybe it's something I'm doing along the line but I haven't a clue.....

Apologies - read it as 'when burning from' and confirm that I get as far as having already saved as Disk Image.
I've a number of times gone over the lengthy process of saving from FCP through FCP Movie then iDVD to Disk Image followed by spasmodic print results to disks during this present difficulty. Last night I had one result from Toast 6 and another result from Disk Utility followed by a string of complete failures in the way I have already reported - that fatal "The drive drained its buffer without underrun protection."
I've used Disk Warrior's Optimiser to optimise both my HDs which showed a noticeable difference to the storage graphs. Turned the computer off and on again. Resaved the film in the way described. Gone through the process with Toast and Disk Utillity, and produced one good disk from each. All followiing attempts have ended in failures as described and those attempts have included switching off and on again, not just restarting. My startup disk has 42gb free space and the storage disk containing the edited material has 47gb free space.
So yes - the problem shows from the Disk Image starting point. When I got a result from Toast 6 followed by another one from Disk Utility I thought I'd cracked it. Maybe there's a clue in noting that the failures occurred again after once more using Disk Utility.

I've downloaded successfully my project in imovie (40mins) and while burning in iDVD, after 4 hours, in the step 4, the following error message came.
"Errors were found during the burning process. The recording device found illegal request. Buffer under run.(0x21, 0x02)"

Instaled QT-Pro in my production machine that is not connected to the internet. When starting QT it kind of sticks on the "Loading" screen. If I click on the screen It says "Switching". I can still open a movie though and play it but when I try to export it as anything it gives me a Buffer Under Run error and crashes.
Where should I look? I have reinstaled it and the same file works fine on my other machine.Finaly figured out my problem after doing some searching. At least with me anyway I had the videos I was working on in the root directory of the drive I was using. Apparently QTP likes them in a folder. Now it all works great.

Toast--Buffer under run protection--does it work?
Lately I have been having trouble with the "device has drained its buffer without under run protection" error. I usually can deal with it with several things I try, but for the last couple of projects I can burn only one or two disks before I start getting this problem. Then I can't burn until I let the computer rest overnight, no matter what I try.
I have heard that Toast has a buffer under run protection option. Does it work? If it does, I'll down load it.Hi R
Even Toast™ are dependant on the free space on internal hard disk. Even more so
if You use it for capturing material from DVD discs - then to add to the strain
say that it should be changed to fit a new DVD.
Say from a DL-disc to a SL-dito.
Don't be amazed if the need exceeds a 60Gb need.

[tuner card] cx88 alsa buffer under-run (on xc4000)
I'm having really weird bug and I don't know where should I look for help.
I own Leadtek WinFast DTV2000 H Plus card with Conexant CX2388x PCI bridge and Xcieve XC4000 tuner.
I'm using it with mplayer to watch analog cable tv. I'm suffering from buffer underrun caused by alsa driver (cx88_alsa). What's more interesting it's occurring more often when I'm watching channels only on specific frequencies (mostly high). The side effect of this is that mplayer (also mplayer2) has a memory leak which causes to drop frames after aprox. 10 minutes.
When I'm having underruns dmesg shows something like this:

I've figured a simple workaround but it's causing sound stuttering on high frequencies (because of more buffer underruns). Disable audio in mplayer and run:
sox -t alsa hw:1,0 -t alsa hw:0,0
I've found similar problem but no one has found a soultion: http://www.digipedia.pl/usenet/thread/17087/5974/
I've tried also applying workaround from https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/836062 post #5 but it doesn't work.
I really don't know where should I report this bug. Any help will be really appreciated.

Just to let you know you are not alone. I have the same issue with Leadtek WinFast DTV2000 H (rev. J) card. It's card=82 on the cx88 driver support list on v4l site.
I'm seeing the same messages on Mythbuntu Lucid 10.04 I just noticed it today troubleshooting some tunning issue. I found some other people having same issue dating from 2007 and 2009 with some other cards too, not sure if the same driver though.

Some of them solved their issue by unloading the cards ALSA driver cx88_alsa but not sure if that is a good idea since that module is used by snd_pcm and will probably have audio impact.

The card is sharing the same IRQ 21 for all three devices I guess DVB, analog TV and radio.

I'm using this card on MythTV setup for watching and recording DVB-T TV and can't say I've noticed any sound issues during playback. But what I've noticed is that the card can't tune some DVB channels here in Australia after I upgraded to MythTV 0.25 and Mythbuntu 10.04.
If you ask me this issue should go to the v4l list since I think is driver related.

My portfolio site has thumbnails (buttons) that bring up
images when rolled over. I have them scripted as "onRollover"
"GoToAnd Stop" to a flagged frame.
Sometimes, but not always, when I log into the site, the
flagged frames, or images, run through the whole gamut before
settling down to the first one. Or, they may do this when I roll
over just one thumbnail button.
I have a "stop" n the first frame of a timeline action layer.
Anything else?

I have written an application program using j2sdk1.4.1 that needs your help.

Location of the text file I created: C:\mainClassInfo.txt
STEP-2: Then I went to C:\Examination and executed the following command(by using 'Command prompt'):--------------------------------------------------------------------

Then, I thought, that as all the files & folders the application needed to run properly were packaged in the jar file; I should delete all the contents of the folder 'Examination', so that no one could see or use anything of the resources easily. I did that.

Thereafter, I tried to run the application again and there a problem occurred! The application was running, but the images, those were to be used and shown by the application were missing somehow!!
Moreover, when I kept a copy of those 2 folders('Images' and 'Sounds') into the C:\Examination and ran the application again all the images came out normally!
I just can't understand why it's happening so mysterious?
I don't want to leave anything of the resources in an open place; I mean, outside of the jar file. The images should be used and shown by the application.
Help me please!The Image class itself does not have any methods for loading images from files so you must be using something more. Most methods for loading images from files have an overload that lets you use a URL, so you just need to use that method with a call to getResource like in the other thread. If you can't think of anything else, you can use ImageIcon to load an Image (the Image is returned by a call to ImageIcon.getImage). See also "how to use icons" from the swing tutorial:

Thereafter, I tried to run the application again and there a problem occurred! The application was running, but the images, those were to be used and shown by the application were missing somehow!!
Moreover, when I kept a copy of those 2 folders('Images' and 'Sounds') into the C:\Examination and ran the application again all the images came out normally!
I just can't understand why it's happening so mysterious?
I don't want to leave anything of the resources in an open place; I mean, outside of the jar file. The images should be used and shown by the application.

How to view image properties in safari
I would like to view properties of an image on a web page in Safari and cannot find this option anywhere. I think it used to be under "View".
Control click the page in Safari then click Inspect Element.
Select Images on the left.
Click through the images in the list. You'll see image properties on the right. -
How do you weed through duplicate images?
I love that Aperture allows tasks to be done many different ways. I'd like to hear some ideas on how to do this -
I am going through and finally getting my old photos from 2002 to current managed in Aperture. Many of the images are a mess on CD backup and more recent images are from the pc (I could get these from an EHD or in iPhoto). Long story short, I have LOTS of duplicate images from one disk to another. I mean the same photo two or three times.
My library has a top blue folder for the year. The projects within there are almost all by month year (i.e. Apr 2003). As far as I can tell, all of these images are the same - but one project might have an image that another one doesn't have. Should I worry about this or not? I am very detail oriented and anal about it - so set me straight if I need a slap into reality
Should I just go through my library and view by date and delete the duplicates without regard to which CD they came from? What would you do? How do you weed through duplicate images in this regard?
I'd love to hear your thoughts!I almost thought you hit a winner there... even for general use. I started to read it and realized the import window cannot be resized. Why did I think that? Well, in general, have you ever imported from your camera and then took more pictures? Do you always remember what the last downloaded image was? Wouldn't it be great to resize that import window and see the actual library underneath to check??!
Anyway, my imports are done so .... last night I did a few months worth and I was in date view within 2003 (not the smart folder at the top under Library) and went through using the 9 key to reject the images that were duplicate. Some of them I could go to the project and reject in larger groups, but mostly it was one by one. It is a painstaking process, but ensures I have every image. Once I know I have it all, I will delete the rejects.
Keep in mind - my duplicates are not in the same project - they exist in multiple projects, sometimes two or three.
No other tips out there? I was sure there were enough power users that would have some secret tip to make life easier with Aperture. -
Anyone know how to do a running average of images? I could convert images to 2-D arrays and stack in a 3-D array. I can't think of a way to add the images once in the 3-D array without a loop that would slow execution speed to a crawl.
This example demonstrates how to use a running average to remove transients from captured images.
1. Set up an acquisition and create a storage buffer, a working buffer for the current image, and a repository for the running average. The running average is a 16-bit buffer to allow for up to 256 8-bit images to be averaged together.
2. Create an array of buffers to hold each of the images being averaged. This array works as a shift register to subtact the oldest image (step 4) and add the newest image (step 6)
3. The calculation determines which index of the array to access. This index is then indexed for use in this iteration of the loop.
4. For each iteration, first subtract the oldest image from the repository. You cannot subtract images that have not been stored, so subtracting occurs on the second iteration of the loop.
5. The newly acquired image is converted to a 16-bit image and stored in the current index of the array.
6. Add the current index to the repository and display the image. 16-bit images are dynamically ranged when displayed so that the image displayed is the average of all images added to the repository. Steps 4, 5, and 6 repeat, subtracting the oldest image and adding the newest image to create a running average.
7. 16-bit images are signed. This step subtracts 2^15 from the repository the first time through the loop and allows access to the entire 16-bits of resolution.
8. This step scales the histograms so that the histogram for 16-bit (average) and 8-bit (current) images cover the same range.
9. Dispose of the buffers and WindDraw windows.
10. This loop calculates the frames per second being handled. Notice the use of notifiers to end this while loop when the main loop ends.
NOTE: You must have IMAQ Vision installed to run this example. The maximum number of buffers used should be no greater than 255 for 8 bit images.

Problem with iPhone mail viewing images

Since I upgraded to iOS 5 I cannot view images attached on any mail. I'm using GMAL as my mail account.
Is anyone having the same problem?

Thanks for the quick reply. I clearly changed the passcode in my iPhone and must have in my Mac. They are both running off our private secure network (appears with the lock), so I must have saved the new passphrase. Can't think how it would work otherwise.
I have logged into the Linkysys console and confirmed the passcode. Problem is that when we enter this my husband's new iiPhone, it just doesn't work. Comes back with a message that either the account or password is in error. I've checked the spelling on his account name, compared all setup data to my phone, and the only difference is the password, which I can't see.
So, my problem is both mail on the iPhone and WiFi because my husband's phone won't switch over when he enters the house, as it should from 4G. Do you know of any of these programs that will allow you to "reveal" your actual pass phrases/words for an application? I didn't realize that the characters might be of different lengths than the passwords themselves, which makes sense. However, it doesn't explain why mine would work and my husband's would not. I tried going into the Linsys console through my iPhone hoping that it would reveal what password I was using and it gave me the one for the network -- same one that will not verify on my husband's new phone. Could anything else be interfering? I've gotten his other mail accounts set up, but Comcast (being our ISP and his primary email account) is by far the most important and just not cooperating?

Can not view images of Patents (i.e., D/359,691) on USPTO.gov Patent search, it tells me I need a plugin (Quicktime) which I updated already.
In the "Quick Search" I give terms & it compiles a list. I then go through to each doc and look to view the doc and associated drawings. I'm not sure what else to say at this juncture.

Is there a way to view image numbers (metadata) on the iPad Photo app, distinguishing those taken with the internal camera from those downloaded from external camera or copied from an email?
sberman: My iMac is running iTunes 11.0.2 already. As well, the Photos tab in the iTunes window shows that "Sync Photos from" is un-checked. And in the box to the right of it is the greyed-out empty folder that I previously synced to in order to remove photos from the Camera Roll.
Ralph9430: I did a reset (Home + Sleep) earlier when I was trying everything I could think of. I have also re-synced a couple of times. No luck.
Thanks anyway. I was hoping someone out there would tell me they've experienced the same problems (non-functioning DELETE button, and persistent data in Photo Library), even if they haven't found a solution. Then I could assume it's a iOS 6 bug. All I can think of to do next is a full iPad restore. -
