Right, ok. Are many using this at the moment?
The progressive HTML5-ers are using shiv files or some description.
Is it completely without any issues if we move from html 4 to 5 now then?
I'm sure shiv files have their limitations but most reports/blog I see online are reporting good results (or they're not howling loudly about bad results).
Only one issue for me then DWCS4. Don't think its worth the upgrade to DW5.5 at the moment needed to be able to see html 5 in design view. Probably wait for DW6 and get up to speed with html5 in the meantime as I don't fully know the new tags yet

    You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
    Back up all data before making any changes.
    One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
    If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
    Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
    Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
    In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
    Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
              Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
              Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • Web Browsers Problem

    I have the MBP 2008 model and the problem is when I want to browse the internet I can't. It seems as if it can only load sites with https://www.example.com and it won't load sites with http://www.example.com. Can anyone tell me the issue and how to resolve it?

    It's not completely uninstalled.
    Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
    Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
    Here are some general guidelines. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickYourMac.” First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickyourmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickYourMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickYourMac.” If not, open “BrickYourMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
    You may have to log out or reboot in order to complete an uninstallation.
    If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase your boot volume and perform a clean reinstallation of OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
    Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" that purport to remove software.

  • Internet Yahoo Mail, eBay, other sites, problems w/internet

    Problem:
    Bought a new iBook G4....I updated all programs and OS from Apple web site. While surfing the internet I get "document contains no data" message when trying to access pages including my Yahoo inbox, sending messages, searching on eBay. Sometimes I get a "error, 0no server response" from the web site.
    Conclusions so far:
    1) Yahoo.com is not the source of the problem, I can access my account from work with no problem.
    2) My ISP is not the source of the problem, I used my friends computer which uses the same ISP and has no problems accessing Yahoo, eBay, etc.
    3) I have used different broswers (Netscape, Firefox, Safari) and there is no change in the problem.
    4) So that only leaves the OS on my computer as a source of the problem. I have called apple support and they have no answers for me either.
    Please help me solve this issue....thanks!!!

    Same problem. I can't check my Yahoo inbox or compose. Very strange, but it gets worst.
    The problems began when my ISP switched my public IP. I have two macs, both exibit similar problems with yahoo using all available web browsers. (problem not confined to a particular browser) Using my wireless I'm able to receive one of my neighbors connection from a different ISP and I have no problem getting to my Yahoo inbox (not a browser problem). I get a tech over, he scratches his head, plugs in his computer to my broadband and gets through no problem to yahoo and his inbox. No routers are used, tried connecting both with firewall on and off. I have to rule out a IP issue with Yahoo because the tecs computer went through no problem.
    Need help.

  • I can't use the scroll feature built into my touchpad on my laptop, it works with everything else, including a pdf within firefox and the old 3.6 version of firefox but not in the new one. Does anyone know how to fix this?

    The touchpad has a built in feature where when i move my finger over the far right, it scrolls instead of using the mouse. It has been faultless with everything before now, but doesnt work on webpages in Firefox 4, but does in pdfs open within firefox. I can only assume therefore it is the browsers problem not mine. The touchpad is a synaptics pointing device. If this is a browser problem then looks like firefox 4 wont be for me :(

    Apparently it's related to the Firefox plug in.
    This isn't exactly a solution but more of a way to avoid opening PDFs with Firefox's plug in.
    1. Highlight "Tools" from the Menu Bar in the top left of the screen (or click "Options" if using the Firefox Compact Menu)
    2. Select to "Options
    3. Select "Applications"
    4. Look for "Adobe Acrobat Document" under Content Type and to the right under Action select "Use Adobe Reader (default)" instead of the using Adobe Acrobat in Firefox
    5. Open a test PDF. It should open in it's own window now.
    Again, not a complete solution but something that'll at least let you scroll with PDFs open.

  • Spry Navigation 2.0 - Spacing for div for nav bar

    Hello:
    I am once again working on an navigation bar that renders somewhat differently in various browsers (problems with IE 8 & 6).  The navigation is to fit into a div that is bordered by a gold coloured border top and bottom (top border is attached to the header).  The problem is one of calculating the appropriate height based on the settings for the custom nav css file.  I have taken the font size, padding (top and bottom) and border (top and bottom) together with padding on the overall container of the nav bar.  Accordingly I have set the height of the navigation container div at 41px.  In most browsers this works fine, however there are some glitches that cause excess white space to appear either above the navigation bar or below it, thus separating the border from the navigation bar.
    The url for the site is http://socls.org/PCLC-testing/CorePages.html
    I have included the css for the custom nav settings, and the css relating to the navigation in the general css file as well as a screen shot of IE 8.
    Thanks for any help in advance.
    Steve.
    The custom nav css is as follows:
    @charset "UTF-8";
    /* CSS Document */
    /* BeginOAWidget_Instance_2141544: #MenuBar */
    /* Settable values for skinning a Basic menu via presets. If presets are not sufficient, most skinning should be done in
        these rules, with the exception of the images used for down or right pointing arrows, which are in the file SpryMenuBasic.css
         These assume the following widget classes for menu layout (set in a preset)
        .MenuBar - Applies to all menubars - default is horizontal bar, all submenus are vertical - 2nd level subs and beyond are pull-right.
        .MenuBarVertical - vertical main bar; all submenus are pull-right.
        You can also pass in extra classnames to set your desired top level menu bar layout. Normally, these are set by using a preset.
        They only apply to horizontal menu bars:
            MenuBarLeftShrink - The menu bar will be horizontally 'shrinkwrapped' to be just large enough to hold its items, and left aligned
            MenuBarRightShrink - Just like MenuBarLeftShrink, but right aligned
            MenuBarFixedLeft - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedLeft', and left aligned.
            MenuBarFixedCentered -  - Fixed at a specified width set in the rule '.MenuBarFixedCentered',
                            and centered in its parent container.
            MenuBarFullwidth - Grows to fill its parent container width.
        In general, all rules specified in this file are prefixed by #MenuBar so they only apply to instances of the widget inserted along
        with the rules. This permits use of multiple MenuBarBasic widgets on the same page with different layouts. Because of IE6 limitations,
        there are a few rules where this was not possible. Those rules are so noted in comments.

                                                    MenuItem, and MenuItemLabel
                                                    at a given level all use same definition for ems.

    /* IE6 rules - you can delete these if you do not want to support IE6 */
    /* A note about multiple classes in IE6.
    * Some of the rules above use multiple class names on an element for selection, such as "hover" (MenuItemHover) and "has a subMenu" (MenuItemWithSubMenu),
    * giving the selector '.MenuItemWithSubMenu.MenuItemHover'.
    * Unfortunately IE6 does not support using mutiple classnames in a selector for an element. For a selector such as '.foo.bar.baz', IE6 ignores
    * all but the final classname (here, '.baz'), and sets the specificity accordingly, counting just one of those classs as significant. To get around this
    * problem, we use the plugin in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js to generate compound classnames for IE6, such as 'MenuItemWithSubMenuHover'.
    * Since there are a lot of these needed, the plugin does not generate the extra classes for modern browsers, and we use the CSS2 style mutltiple class
    * syntax for that. Since IE6 both applies rules where
    * it should not, and gets the specificity wrong too, we have to order rules carefully, so the rule misapplied in IE6 can be overridden.
    * So, we put the multiple class rule first. IE6 will mistakenly apply this rule.  We follow this with the single-class rule that it would
    * mistakenly override, making sure the  misinterpreted IE6 specificity is the same as the single-class selector, so the latter wins.
    * We then create a copy of the multiple class rule, adding a '.SpryIsIE6' class as context, and making sure the specificity for
    * the selector is high enough to beat the single-class rule in the "both classes match" case. We place the IE6 rule at the end of the
    * css style block to make it easy to delete if you want to drop IE6 support.
    * If you decide you do not need IE6 support, you can get rid of these, as well as the inclusion of the SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js script.
    * The 'SpryIsIE6' class is placed on the HTML element by  the script in SpryMenuBarIEWorkaroundsPlugin.js if the browser is Internet Explorer 6. This avoids the necessity of IE conditional comments for these rules.

        position: relative;

    Hello Again:
    Based on some recalculations I realized that with a font size of 17px, 6px padding (top and bottom = 12px) and 3 px border (top and bottom =6) that the height of the nav container should be 35px;  I have change the general style sheet to reflect that change, but still have rendering problems accross browsers.
    To perhaps add clarity, the following is a screen shot of how it appears in most browsers, and how I intended it should look.
    Thanks (again) in advance for any help that can be offered.  Steve.

  • Firefox freezes for me, every few mintues.

    Every few minutes, Firefox (version 6.0.1) freezes. I get the swirling circle for a couple mins, and then it goes back to normal for a little while. I've tried updating my plug-ins. Updating Firefox. I tried starting Firefox without add-ons. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it. Nothing has helped so far, except for using IE instead. Which I don't want to do. I checked my task manager to see if I was running anything that has a lot of usage (Firefox is using like... 600,000k) there's nothing unusual there either. I'm at a loss on what else to do, other than change browsers.

    Problem solved (for me) - see [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/862445#answer-245698 Question 862445].

  • Import/Exp error

    Hello Everyone,
    We installed the latest JRE for viewing gannt charts. However, still we cannot view the Gantt charts properly or import MS project files.No resolution was found on searching similar threads. Is ther anything we missed out on?

    Hi Thomas,
    Which browser are you using in order to access cProjects? Please note that the following browsers are compatible with cProjects 4.5:
    MS Internet Explorer (IE) 6.0 SP02 and 7.0.
    If you do not use these browsers, problems may occur in scenarios like import/export (XML, MS Project), using the GANTT chart or using SAP Adobe Interactive Forms.
    For a similar issue, we,for MS Internet Explorer, ensured that the following settings are made under Internet Options:
    ● Deactivate script debugging.
    ● Deactivate display script errors.
    ● Add your local subnet to the Local Intranet security zone.

  • How can I correct the problems I've been experiencing lately  with drop-down menus in general as well as and leading of text. It 's occurring  on both Safari and Firefox browsers.

    The above headline pretty much covers the problems.
    Access to the drop down menus is erratic.  Sometimes it's problem-free, but at other times it's impossible to see the options on the menu, or if they are visible, it's impossible to effect a change by clicking on one of them.  The times I notice it most is when I am trying to change fonts or font sizes, but  it occurs at other times, as well.
    It's also frustrating to have to deal with double spacing (for example, when describing items on eBay).  Sometimes the text flows  normally,  but if I force a  return, the text that follows usually is double-spaced.
    Often,  the justification option does not work either.
    Occasionally, I can  get around one problem or another by switching back and forth between Safari and  Firefox, but eventually, the original problem resurfaces.
    Because it happens on both browsers,  eBay tech support is inclined to think the problem is in my software. (I'm inclined to agree.)
    Although they have suggested clearing  the history in FF, that option must have been relocated, because  it'sno longer under the "Tools"  menu, where it was  in the past. I also can't find  the clear  your cache option on OS Safari or 10.8.3.

    I don't think it'd help much but clearing history is now in the History menu, and setting FF to clear history on exit is near the bottom of the Privacy tab of FF Preferences.
    Also, if you don't have the Develop menu in Safari, open Safari preferences, click Advanced, and select “Show Develop menu in menu bar.” You'll find "Empty Caches" there.

  • Firefox cannot load pages that other browsers can, but the 'help' page for this issue did not fix the problem.

    I am troubleshooting an issue occurring on a family member's pc. Immediately after changing their "search" settings from "Yahoo search" to "Google search", they found that Firefox was unable to load any webpages. After troubleshooting the problem, I found the "Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can" help page, and attempted each of the solutions listed. None of those solutions fixed the issue. Also, I uninstalled and re-installed Firefox; the issue persists. However, the 'new' version of Firefox remembered the tabs left open when the 'old' version was deleted, so some temporary files likely persisted.
    Are there any other steps that can be taken, or is Firefox on this computer no longer an option?

    Start with this;
    Type '''about:preferences#advanced'''<Enter> in the address bar.
    Under '''Advanced,''' Select '''Network.'''
    Look for '''Configure How Firefox Connects''' and press the '''Settings''' button.
    Check the settings.
    Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set
    to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your
    updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow
    Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
    * Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
    * Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
    '''[https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/configure-firewalls-so-firefox-can-access-internet Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet.]''' {web link}
    If there is still a problem, go to that computer and do this;
    Type '''about:support''' in the address bar and press '''Enter.'''
    Under the main banner, press the button; '''Copy Text To Clipboard.'''.
    Then in the reply box at the bottom of this page,
    do a right click in the box and select '''Paste.'''
    This will show us your system details.

  • I can not print from Firefox, but can from all other browsers and applications (such as MS Word, notepad, etc.). I get a print error on the printing monitor like it's a spooling problem.

    This is a recent development but I can not print anything from within Firefox. The print functions open normally, it is going to the correct printer which works..I can print from other browsers and applications. It acts like it is spooling and then a print error occurs and it won't print. I closed and reopened Firefox, opened it in safe mode, cleaned out history/cache/cookies, and rebooted twice. Nothing makes any difference. Also tried printing from the print preview which had the same result. I can print from all other browsers and applications without a problem so it must be within Firefox.
