IE 6 won't locate class file???

Can someone tell me what's going on here:
I've created a simple Hello world applet and compiled it.
When I use the appletviewer to view the html page I've created for it, it works fine, no problems.
However if I try to view it in Internet Explorer, I just get a grey box where my applet should be and and the message "class HelloWorld not found" in the taskbar.
I can't understand why it'll work in the appletviewer and not in Internet Explorer.

<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE>A Simple Program</TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
Here is the output of my program:
<APPLET CODE="HelloWorld.class" WIDTH=150 HEIGHT=25>
</APPLET>
</BODY>
</HTML>
I don't think it's a problem with the HTML because it if it did, it wouldn't work in the appletviewer either. I think it might have something to do with with how IE locates class files?

  • Jsp file not able to locate class file in JWS 2.0

    hello all,
    i am a beginner at jsp...
    my problem....
    i have created a jsp file which accesses a SpellCheck.class file..
    i am using Java Web Server 2.0...
    and in the classpath i have set the classpath variable to c:\javawebserver2.0\lib. I have placed the class file in this directory.
    Now when i run the jsp file it gives the following errors...
    C:\JavaWebServer2.0\tmpdir\default\pagecompile\jsp\_wordpro.java:73: Class pagecompile.jsp.SpellCheck not found in type declaration.
    SpellCheck help = null;
    ^
    C:\JavaWebServer2.0\tmpdir\default\pagecompile\jsp\_wordpro.java:76: Class pagecompile.jsp.SpellCheck not found in type declaration.
    help= (SpellCheck)
    ^
    C:\JavaWebServer2.0\tmpdir\default\pagecompile\jsp\_wordpro.java:81: Class pagecompile.jsp.SpellCheck not found in type declaration.
    help = (SpellCheck) Beans.instantiate(getClassLoader(), "SpellCheck");
    ^
    3 errors
    i guess this is happening because it cant find the .class file.
    MY QUESTION IS:
    where should i place the class file so the the .jsp is able to locate it??
    the code of the jsp is as follows:
    <%@ page language="java"%>
    <jsp:useBean id="help" scope="request" class="SpellCheck">
    <%
         System.out.println("Working with the bean");
         help.setWord(request.getParameter("word"));
    %>
    </jsp:useBean>
    <html>
    <body>
    You entered the input,
    <b> <%= request.getParameter("word")%></b><br>
    The processed output is:<br>
    <%= Integer.parseInt(request.getParameter("mode"))==1 ? help.reverse() : " "+help.check() %>
    </body>
    </html>

    just place your class file in JWS2.0/classes directory
    and restart you Serverhi
    yes ive done it...
    1. ive placed the .class file in JWS2.0/classes directory
    2. ive placed the .jsp file and the .html file in the JWS2.0/public_html directory... it still does'nt work...

    Half of my pictures look blank after importing my Apeture library into my new iMac.
    How did you transfer your Aperture library to your new mac? From a TM backup? Did you copy it?
    I get I dialoge box that says there are no referenced files associated with this picure but I spotlight finds it in a split second.
    When do you see this message? Are you trying to reconnect the versions to the original files with the "Locate Referenced Files" dialog?
    but I spotlight finds it in a split second.
    Where does Spotlight find the originals? Inside the Aperture library or in a folder outside?
    Please explain more.

    I am working in linux. I have set the classpath inside .bashrc file.
    I have also tried from the command prompt but no use.Have you tried? java -cp .:<any other directories or jars> YourClassNameOr specifying the classpath in your project if you are using an IDE? Many environments will ignore your system classpath.

    How can I download a previously downloaded purchase to my iTunes library on my laptop when the listing for the song in my library won't play because it says it cannot locate the file. Yes I have searched my iTunes folders and also done a full windows search. The track plays on my iPad and my iPhones but will not play on my laptop!?
    It has an "!" To the left of the song title in my library
    My worry is that if I sync my iPad/iPhone then I will lose the track on those also!

    If you cannot find the file on your hard drive then once you delete the current broken entry you should be able to redownload from iTunes in the Cloud. This assumes the item in question qualifies. Note that audiobooks, digital booklets, iTunes LPs & Extras, ringtones, selected movies etc. don't.
    If prompted don't hide the item. You may find that you need to close and then reopen iTunes before it will appear for download.

  • In PI 7.1 - Java UDF's Compiled Class files - Jar File location

    Hi All,
    In PI 7.1 Does anybody know where the compiled Java UDF's (which are used in Graphical mapping) class files stored in jar are located in integration server? I want to use this jar file in my XSLT mapping.

    Hi,
    I guess it would be under
    \usr\sap\<SID>\DVEBMGS00\j2ee\cluster\server0\temp\classpath_resolver
    or
    \usr\sap\<SID>\DVEBMGS00\j2ee\cluster\server0\.\temp\classpath_resolver
    Where SID is your XI instance name.
    Thanks,

  • Java .class files - Moving the Main Class .class file to a new location

    Novice question....so much so that I hope it's even coherent...
    In a Java program which references many associated .class files (e.g. bicycleMain.class, bicycleSub1.class, bicycleSub2.class, etc....), do the associated .class files always have to be located in the same directory as the Main .class file?
    What I'm getting at is - If I've developed an application consisting of several .class files on my own Windows PC and I want to put the compiled application out on our Windows File Server so that anyone can execute my application, how would I go about doing this?
    Say I put the compiled .class files in H:\PROJECTS\JAVA\COMPILED\, will other people be able to execute the application from their PCs by simply issuing the command line:
    'java h:\projects\java\compiled\bicycleMain'
    Any insights would be very helpful in getting me oriented. Thanks in advance.

    Interesting...so are you saying the command line might look something like this:
    java -classpath h:\projects\java\compiled bicycleMain
    And if I want other people to be able to execute the application without specifying the -classpath option then they would need to manually update the ClassPath environment variable on their individual PCs first?

    did you create the Searcher class? if so stick it in a package and put it under your web-inf directory. then use an <%@ page import="" %> statement to import the code.
    if you didn't create the class is it in some jar library you downloaded? if so stick the jar file in your web-inf/lib folder.

  • Locating classes given many JAR files

    This may seem a basic thing, but I'm having trouble figuring out how people locate the correct JAR file to include when given just the package and class name.
    In searching for a solution to a problem I'd come across web document that tell me all about a particular class or set of classes that will solve this or that problem. The document goes on to give me the package name that the class(es) belong to. The problem is, these classes are in a JAR file and the document doesn't tell me the name of the JAR file or where to get it - assuming I don't have it.
    Assuming I do have the JAR file, that JAR file is usually in a directory with many more JAR files (for example, WSAD includes a whole bunch of JAR files or me). What's the best way to locate the package and/or class file(s) within all these JAR files? Why don't authors tell us the name of the JAR file these class(es) are in? Does anyone else have this problem besides me?

    Haven't tried. But still worth having a look into this free plug-in for Eclipse.

  • Location of deployed WAR or class files

    We have a Web module deployed on an Enterprise Edition Sun App Server. The OS is Solaris. When deployed the module was targeted to a cluster.
    Where can I find the class files of this WAR module or the WAR file itself? If I go to <appserver-install-dir>/domains/mydomain/applications/j2ee-modules/mymodule/WEB-INF/classes, all I get are property files deployed in the classpath.
    Thanks.

    You can look for the name of your WAR archive in the domain.xml (if appserver 8.x), you would see something like the following, an example here :
    +<web-module availability-enabled="false" context-root="amserver" directory-deployed="false" enabled="true" location="${com.sun.aas.instanceRoot}/applications/j2ee-modules/amserver" name="amserver" object-type="user"/>+
    Note the location variable...
    If your using version 7.x the file is called server.xml.
    These xml files typically are located under /var/opt/SUNWappserver/domains/domain1/config
    Hope this helps,
    Chris
