IE, ActiveX and installing Flash Player

I'm stuck in a loop. I hit a page that reqires the flash
player and it doesn't show the content.
Then I install the flash player, then it tells me it needs
activeX. I try to install that and it never works.
It keeps prompting me to install ActiveX...
What a pain. Anyone else having this with the glorious
IE7?

yes, absolutely the same thing. I can't download the flash
player all I get is the little white and red box in upper left hand
corner. I tried to go to microsoft, or active X site and same
thing, cant have one with out the other to work but neither will
dl. I went through all theinternet security options and I cant
change my settigns from med-high to med. I am the administrator,
and it;wont capply the changes i make there . I enabled the active
X download box and the other one as well and still no changes to
apply. If you find out how to fix this write me back.

  • Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX and Adobe Flash Player Plugin

    Windows 7 64bit / IE8
I uninstalled Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX and Adobe Flash Player Plugin thinking they would be reinstalled together when I installed the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.
Now I only see the entry for Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX 10.2.159.1 listed in - Uninstall or change a program.
I was wondering how to get the Adobe Flash Player Plugin?
    Thanks.

These are the files listed in the folder.
    Flash10p.ocx
    FlashInstall.log
    FlashUtil10p_ActiveX.dll
    FlashUtil10p_AciveX.exe
I originally uninstalled Flash Player 10 ActiveX and the Flash Player Plugin
thinking they would both be reinstalled with the newer version. When I installed
the newer version of Flash Player 10 ActiveX I noticed the Plugin was missing
and wondered what happened to it. I didn't know it needed to be downloaded
seperatly and I also didn't know what it was for exactly. As it is right now
everything works and since I'm not using any other browser - downloading
the Plugin isn't required. At least now I have an idea what the Plugin it was
intended for and know it's not needed.
    Thank You.

  • Problems downloading and installing Flash Player on Windows 7.

I have windows 7 and when i went to update my current version of Adobe Flash Player i would go to the page and only a few things would show up.  For example: It would say to press the Install Now button to go ahead with the download but that button would never show up.  So i uninstalled the flash player all together.  Then when i went to this page the Install Now button would show up.  So i would go along with the instructions of selecting yes on both prompts for the download.  And when i hit yes the second time nothing happens.  I went through some troubleshooting with my internet options and my Active X controls.  I'm not sure what to do at this point.

  • Can't download and install Flash player on Win 7, 64 bit machine

Firefox and Adobe Flash Player do not play well together.  It would be great if they could seamlessly update and be done with it...
I have manually uninstalled the FP with the adobe uninstall utility
I have tried downloading with the on-line flash player install but it hangs after downloading ~100kb.
I then attempted to download the manual installer for FF at:  http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_play er.exe
Incredibly slow download, 205kb after 20 minutes from a broadband internet connection.
How do I resolve this?  Who do I complain to, Adobe, Firefox or both?  Updates should not be a problem with new equipment...

    MyIdaho wrote:
    not a valid Win32 application....
That indicates that the download is corrupted; you have to download it again!
The downloaded file (plugin installer) should be 2.65MB = 2,724KB = 2,788,816 bytes.
Can you download the installer from another computer / network connection, then transfer it to your computer with a memory stick or other media?

  • Please help me download and install Flash Player!

One day, I had no problems viewing Flash on my computer. Then
one day last week, it told me I needed to download Flash Player 8
to view The Vine on E!Online. I haven't been able to download Flash
Player 8 or 9. Or anything from this site, for that matter.
    I went here (
    http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&promoi d=BIOW),
clicked download. Clicked the yellow strip that appeared to install
the Active X control or whatever it's called. A pop-up asked if I
wanted to install or do not install. I clicked install, then
nothing happens. No download box shows up or anything.
I've un-installed my flash player (if i even had one) and
have tried so many times to download a new flash player.
    PLEASE HELP!

ive uploaded the exe file to my server, so
    go
here and save it to your comp, unzip the file, and run the
    program.

  • In regards to upgrading and installing Flash Player?

I came across an "outdated flash player" reminder when I went to play a video. I went to upgrade my Flash Player thru Adobe, I went thru the proper protocol downloading and installing the upgraded application. As it is installing, it stops at 25% of the installation and will not continue nor finish the installation. When I cancel and retry the installation, it does the same thing.  I need to know how I can complete the install of the upgraded Flash Player or if anyone has had the same problem?  BTW, I am on a Mac OS X, 10.10.2

  • Keep trying to download and install flash player

My flash player quit working, so I upgraded it.  A few days ago, it just dies.  I can't find it anywhere on my computer.  So I tried to download and install the newest flash player.  It initializes and begins installing.  Then stops and asks me to turn off Internet explorer, which I do and click RETRY.  I then get and ERROR:  Application is currently in use.
What is going on?  If i tell it to install Chrome, it stops that and says it is already installed.  I can't find this program either.  It was obviously installed when I last updated flash player.  So why can I not play any videos now?

  • Cannot download and install Flash Player tried numerous times and it says installed

Adobe Flash Player / Version: 11.9.900.117
Laptop running Windows 32-bit XP / English M.S.I.E.

Download the Adobe Flash Player installer directly by right clicking the following link: Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer) and selecting "Save target as".
Save it to your Downloads folder - DO NOT run it yet.
    Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening anything else, go to your Downloads folder and run the installer.
If IE still gives you trouble, see: Enabling Flash Player in Internet Explorer  and ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer  to be sure it's enabled and ActiveX isn't blocking content.

  • On my Yahoo emails and certain websites I get an error message. I download and install Flash Player and I still get the error. How can I fix this? It's very annoying because I have to use IE instead.

When I use IE I don't have this problem. It's only with Firefox.

Update your Flash Player which is way out of date, even your newer one won't work well with Firefox and many security updates have occurred since..

The current Flash is Shockwave Flash 10.3.181.26 You have both Shockwave Flash 7.0 r19 and 10.0 r45 -- you will probably have to uninstall the 7.0 version through the control panel, do that first. Use the Adobe page to update as you are less likely to get crapware install suggestions from that page.
Afterwards run a plug-in update type in about:plugins into location bar and hit enter at the top of the list is a link for for plugins test which you should check out<br>

When installing updates, watch out for crapware installs, the checking and the updates are supplied by the plugin makers -- not by Mozilla.

  • Download and Install Flash Player

    Hi, everyone!
I have run into several instances lately where the download
and installation of the Adobe Flash Player does not work. I have
tested this on 4 machines (3 laptops and 1 pc - all Windows XP
Professional). They have been in different environments. In every
instance, I can see the Flash example on the download page and get
a successful installation message. But, when I try to run a
Captivate movie (.swf), I get the "Windows cannot open this file"
    association message.
I have talked with others, including Adobe folks at the ASTD
Conference in San Diego, and no one else has encountered this. Does
anyone have a suggestion as to what is going on?
    Thanks!
    Bob

    Hi Bob
Here is my guess. If you are simply double-clicking a .SWF
from inside Windows Explorer, you are relying upon the Windows file
association to determine what to do with the .SWF. I'm guessing
that just because the player is successfully installed in the
browser, it doesn't mean an association has been created in
    Windows.
I might suggest creating a File Association in Windows that
would point to Internet Explorer if you double clicked a .SWF from
Windows Explorer. Then IE would open and probably display the .SWF
    without complaining.
    Cheers... Rick
