IE browser windows crash at Flash player websites

My computer seems to be running much slower at sites where Flash Player is used.  Myspace crashes/automatically closes very often.  I have downloaded Flash Player 10.  I have no idea where it is on my computer though.  I am using Internet Explorer 7, but was thinking of using FireFox.  I downloaded FireFox and went to YouTube and wasn't able to view any movies.  So I've downloaded Flash Player 10 a couple times and nothing is working.  I have run CCleaner, Malwarebytes, and have given combofix logs to other forums.  I have (hopefully) pinpointed the problem to being my Flash Player.  Thanks in advance for your help!

I suggest that you start afresh, by following these steps
download the FP uninstaller from http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html (save to disk);
download the offline installers
for Internet Explorer http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe (save to disk);
for all other browsers http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe (save to disk);
close all browser windows and run the downloaded uninstaller;
reboot windows to remove all residual FP files;
with all browser windows closed, run the downloaded installers.

  • How to report a crash with Flash Player

In this thread, I'll be describing the different processes for reporting crashes in Flash Player.  We're committed to finding and fixing these bugs and we appreciate any help you can give us!
In general, when reporting a crash, please create a new bug over at bugbase.adobe.com and a new thread so that your issues won't be lost in threads that can sometimes span many pages.  When creating the bug, please include the following information:
    1. A brief explanation of what you were doing when the crash occurred.  Screenshots and or video of the steps required are always welcome!  Cell phone captures work great.  Many times we can pick up on small subtleties with a simple picture.
    2. An exact URL where the crash occurred.  Even though a crash might appear to happen in many places (like all videos on youtube for example), it still helps us to have an exact URL so that there are no ambiguities in our testing.
    3. A crash log!  See the posts below for details on creating crash logs for your particular browser.
    4. Your current version of Flash Player
    5. In some cases, computer hardware and drivers can contribute to a crash.  Getting your system details is always helpful.  Here are some simple steps to gather system details for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
    Thanks!
    Chris

Internet Explorer for Vista and Windows 7
    1. Download the files "Enable Crash Logging.reg" and "Disable Crash Logging.reg" attached to the bottom of this post.
    2. Double click the "Enable Crash Logging.reg" file.  Click Yes to the Registry Editor dialog.
    3. Restart your system
    4. Open Internet Explorer and try to navigate to a page with working Flash content (for example, go to our About Flash page)
    5. Reproduce the crash
    6. Once Internet Explorer has crashed, open an Explorer window and type the following into the navigation bar: %localappdata%
    7. Navigate into the CrashDump folder
    8. Select a recent iexplorer.exe.<somenumber>.dmp file and copy it to your desktop
    9. Now that we have a crash log, we'll disable crash logging by double clicking the "Disable Crash Logging.reg" file downloaded in step 1 and selecting OK.  Note this step is optional.  You are free to leave crash logging enabled.  With it enabled, Windows will save your last 10 crashes for future reference.
    10. Restart your system
    11. Include the crash log you saved to your desktop in your bug report
    Internet Explorer for Windows XP
    1. Display hidden files and folders in Explorer using this Microsoft document
    2. Open Internet Explorer and try to navigate to a page with working Flash content (for example, go to our About Flash page)
    3. Reproduce the crash
    4. Once Internet Explorer has crashed, open an Explorer window and navigate to the following folder:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson
    5. Locate the file named "user.dmp" and copy it to your desktop.
    6. Include the crash log you saved to your desktop in your bug report

  • Fake Flash Player Website

I just want to report a fake Flash Player website I was redirected to while in the middle of reading an article on a blog.  The website is as follows:
    easyinstantupdates.be/f3/45a1fe9cfc437806baabec9a08484289/?subid=77bb65d6281f6654ee5cc4f6f 3168355&transaction_id=bf0ca036-0f77-4d53-b87b-295e4d01eebc&rand=545c50d803146&source=mbs- f3
Luckily, I noticed the url ahead of time.  I went to the official Adobe Flash Player website and it said Flash Player on my Chrome browser is up-to-date.  Also, did a who is domain search and the information about the registrant and the registrar was very sketchy.

I am embarrassed to admit that I fell for this. I was multitasking and inattentive. Earlier today I had been prompted by a legitimate Flash reminder to upgrade my player, which primed me to agree with the installation. When I realized the mistake, I force quit the process and may have canceled the installation before it was completed.
I am not entirely sure what it installed in my brand-new Retina 5K iMac (I know... I want to kick myself too) but it appears to have installed a folder named InstallMac and an application named "Reset Search". (I verified it by Date Modified.)
I deleted the folder. I am unaware of any other changes this may have made to my system. It appears to be Adware, but Chrome and Safari appear to not have been infected.
Any other ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
This is where I got the file from (Clicking on the link will not download the "dmg" file, but the browser will prompt you to):
    [removed sketchy links]
I was reading a news story on The Guardian when I was prompted.

  • Flash player opening in new window even for flash in websites

Ok, so ive searched the net and not found a single person with my problem, if its something easy ive missed im sorry. Flash player opens in a new window for every bit of flash. Like if I go to hulu and start to watch a movie it will not load in browser but open a new window on the desktop and begin playing. If I go to a website that has a flash based set up like the air forces website just the backround will load and the flash thats supposed to be on the page tries to load in a new window like hulu but since its not a movie it doesnt work. It does this for everything flash, meaning if I go to a flash heavy website I see only the html parts and end up with tons of blank flash windows in my task bar I cant bring up. Im running firefox but it does it for ie too so I dont think its a browser issue.

That resolved the issue. Thank you so much.

  • Crash of flash player plug in

Hi, there! I have an issue. When i watch videos on "Youtube" Mozilla Firefox like freezes often (i get stuck with open browser, can't even switch between tabs). Then, message pops up saying smth like plugin crashed, reload the page. That happens very often, and is really annoying. Ways i tried so far to solve the issue. 1. installed latest versions of both browser and "adobe flash player, but still nothing.").. Can you help me? thanks!

    UserAgent for the OP is - Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100405 Namoroka/3.6.3 - he might be running a 64-bit 3rd party build.

  • Windows 8 - No Flash Player Works

Windows 8 doesn't allow Adobe Flash PLayer to work at all. Whats the deal?

I had the same problem.  Flash would work in Chrome but both the Metro and desktop versions of Internet Explorer would not play any flash content.  I wasn't even able to see the flash movie on the official Adobe page...
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html
So I knew it had nothing to do with "Compatibility Mode" or some rogue websites that just didn't update their pages (vimeo video's wouldn't work either).  I keep hearing the latest Flash version is buggy and since it's not as simple as uninstalling and reinstalling, I had to find another solution
So after trying all the steps here...
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-8.html
I was still lost.  Of particular interest was step telling me to update to the latest version of flash.  When I tried, I was told that the Windows Update was already installed.
MY SOLUTION (Sorry if the steps aren't exact, I'm at work and did this last night)...
    1) Hit "Windows key + r" and type "appwiz.cpl" This will bring up the Add/Remove Program window.
    2) Click on "View Installed Updates"
    3) When you try to install the latest version of Flash via the link above, the error message indicates that update is already installed, when this happens, take note of the update number (something like "KB#######")
    4) Find this number on the list of installed updates, right click and choose "uninstall"
    5) You will probably have to restart after this.
    6) After restarting, attempt to reinstall flash via the link above
    7) Again, you will have to restart.
    8) After restarting, you should be good.
    Hope it helps!!!

  • Working Flex builder application crashes after flash player version 11.7.700.225

I had developed a application in flash builder 4.6 at the time of development in that time latest browser 11.2 it was working smooth and fine all functioning is well. But now after new flash player release after 11.7.700.225 application doesn't show text and Clicks anso doesn't work. Please suggest me a solution what has been changed in version 11.7.700.224 and 11.7.700.225 due to that my application crashes.

JavaScript and Cookies are enabled.  my cookies list shows at least 3 associated with hulu.  Funny thing is, if I grab the up/down control bar on right side of screen with my mouse, then hulu plays in a somewhat chopped frame by frame. As soon as I let go, the frame freezes yet audio portion continues.
I don't know what a munged Hulu cookie is, however.

  • Update to Flash Player 11 has caused our Flash content to crash the Flash Player plugin. Why?

I work for a health and safety training company and we've create a SCORM compliant course using Flash that has been imported into Absorb LMS (our own instance of it www.astutis-elearning.com).  There are nine modules in the course each developed using Flash Professional CS5.5.
These all worked fine using the Flash Player 10.3 plugin but since the Flash Player update to 11 our modules (not all Flash content) crash the plugin at certain places.  Some modules load fine and then crash later, some modules get through the preloader scene and then crash as soon as it gets to the main menu.  We've done some testing and don't know if it could be a Flash component that is causing the issue.  At any rate, they used to work with 10.3 and they don't work with 11.  We've tried on a number of machines and browsers.  Its the same on all of them.
I am prepared to provide a login for people willing to help to see what is causing the problem.
This is an important issue as we have people who are currently on the course that may not be able to complete the course if they upgrade their version of Flash to the latest version.  I hope I have provided enough information.  Let me know if you need any more.

    Paul and DevChaz,
Like you, I am a Flash Developer at a company that creates eLearning.  Therefore, I assume that the way that we use Flash is very similar.  I was quite excited as I read through this thread since I have been experiencing very similar browser crashes in my newer courses since FP11 came out.  Like you, we have recently upgraded to CS5.5.
All of my crashes are with AS2 courses.  I would be curious to know if yours are AS2 or AS3.
Anyway, I took my use case, saved the flas down to CS4 and recompiled all the swfs.  This did not fix the problem as it did for you (see DevChaz's earlier post in this thread dated Oct 12, 2011 4:46 PM).
I have my problem logged in the Adobe BugBase here:
    https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3018637
    fpMonster,
I have recently added my cs4 versus cs5.5 compiled use_case on bugbase.  I am hoping that you'll look at this use_case and compare it to PaulGray's use_case to see why my use_case does NOT work correctly when compiled in a lower version of the Flash IDE.  In addition, perhaps you could share notes regarding this issue with someone at BugBase.  Thanks in advance.

  • Windows 8.1 Flash Player vs. IE 11 Flash Player

    I have 64-bit Windows 8.1 Update 1.
    What is the difference between:
    a) the Flash players installed at \sysWOW64\Macromed (the 64-bit player) and \System32\Macromed (the 32-bit player) and
    b) the Flash add-on that is part of Internet Explorer 11 (it's called the Shockwave Flash Object)?
On my computer, the Flash players installed at \sysWOW64\Macromed (the 64-bit player) and \System32\Macromed (the 32-bit player) are stuck at version 12 and cannot be updated. The Flash add-on that is part of Internet Explorer 11 is up-to-date at version 14.

    Hi Bulldog,
Thank you for posting the screenshots.
The Flash Player version 12 you have installed is the Plugin for non-IE browsers.  You should uninstall Flash Player version 12 (download available here, Uninstall Flash Player | Windows).  It's very old and contains security vulnerabilities that have been fixed. If you do use non-IE browsers, even occasionally, you should update the version of Flash Player installed, at Adobe - Install a different version of Adobe Flash Player (you'll need to navigate to the page using the non-IE browser so that it offers you the correct version).  However, if your non-IE browser is Chrome, Google embeds Flash Player in Chrome and updates it whenever we have a Flash Player release, the same way Microsoft releases IE updates on Windows 8.x when there's a new version of Flash Player.  Since you're on Windows 8.x you'll only need to download and install the Flash Player if you use non-IE and non-Chrome browsers.
    HTH.

  • Windows 8 + IE10 + Flash Player 11.7.700.224 = ???

    Hello all.
I've read uncountable pages so far, but none of them could represent the issue I am facing.
The investigation goes with the following sequence of installation:
    1. Clean Windows 8 x64 OS
    2. Updated VGA driver
    3. Update for Internet Explorer Flash Player for Windows 8 x64-based systems (KB2847928)
    4. Set IE10 to use "desktop mode" only
After proceeding this way, when checking Flash Player "about page":
When opening "Flash Player (32-bit)" in Control Panel:
    In IE10 Add-ons Manager:
When browsing, it is possible to open Flash content withou problems.
The only annoyance is the ActiveX control is not recognized by the settings manager at all.
This is so obvious, since the application looks for the plug-in instead, as if there were no ActiveX in the system.
Is the ActiveX now "hidden" after the most recent update so that users do not mess around, or is this behaviour somehow awkward?

When I did what you suggested, the videos start to load -- I see about 3 seconds or so and then I get a
"video player error" message on a black screen.  I tried 5 different videos with the same result; some played a few seconds longer than the others.  I also upgraded to Firefox 22, but that seemed to have no effect on anything with this.
