IE Support for Discoverer4i Plus Java Client

Hello all.
I have Discoverer nicely installed. I tried using the IE Plus client and the application comes up, but I get a ClassLoader error? I try the exact same thing with Netscape and JInitiator, no problem. I tried this with IE 5.0 and 5.5. Seems the JVM may only be up to 1.1.4 if you look at the discoverer help about screen.
Any ideas or workarounds? Can I use JInitiator in IE as well?
Thanks,
Brad

Brad:
Check that the version of the JVM (Java Virtual Machine) is at least 5.0.0.3186. As an alternative, you can as you stated use Jinitiator within IE.
To do this, use the 'NETSCAPE' welcome page from the IE browser.

  • Does Active directory support for linux/mac/ubuntu clients?

    Hello everyone,
    I am pretty new to Active directory and my company has few requirements which he need to achieve by implementing Microsoft Active directory. I tried reading some blogs/documents on google but was not able to get the clear understanding. So would request
    you all to please help me in getting the correct answers.
    1) Does AD supports linux/mac/ubuntu clients getting authenticated from it?
    2) Does AD supports root/non-root privilege login which is like admin/non-admin rights in windows for linux/mac/ubuntu?
    3) Does Password policy works well on linux/mac/ubuntu cleints?
    4) Does AD support auto-loading application after successful login in linux/mac/ubuntu clients? For eg: Logging into jabber client as soon as user logins IN.
    5) Can AD trace and log the authentication information for linux/mac/ubuntu clients?
    6) Does AD support rules based login for linux/mac/ubuntu clients?
    7) Do we have high availability in AD runing Active-Active?
    8) can we push patched/security policies via AD on linux/mac/ubuntu clients?
    9) Can we schedule crons for linux/mac/ubuntu clients via AD like we have task schedules set-up in Windows?
    10) Can linux/mac/ubuntu cleints be included part of GPO?
    11) Auto-backups or auto mapping of shared drives by AD on widnows/linux/mac/ubuntu cleints?
    12) Can we capture licenses etc(Server management) thing in AD.
    13) Does AD support communication over SSL.
    14) Does AD supports SSO authentication for linux/mac/ubuntu clients?
    Thanks guys in advance

    While I cannot speak for mac clients, there is a labour intensive method that allows linux distros to be able to connect to AD in a windows environment.  Take a look at
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2008.12.linux.aspx
    for tips.  Please note, it was designed with the Fedora/Red Hat Core in mind, but ubuntu distro's will also work, you just need the appropriate packages.

  • SUP JAVA APIS FOR MBOs for consumption from java client

    Hello,
    I am trying to develop an android application using SUP,since SUP does not support android code generation.is there java apis provided by SUP so that android can connect to SUP,is there any documentation for these apis as well.
    regards
    kaushik

    Hi Kaushik,
    I thought Sybase will provide support for Android devices from SUP 2.0. But from the documentation, it looks like they still dont provide any support for android devices. Please check the link below.
    http://infocenter.sybase.com/help/topic/com.sybase.infocenter.dc01283.0200/doc/html/asc1229701492397.html
    The links explains about genearting object api code for various platforms but Android is not included in that. But since Android and Blackberry are both Java based, I still feel you should be able to select blackberry as platform when trying to generate code and work with Android environment. Since both are eclipse based, try and it should work.

    I have ebcc on linux. The main thing that you will have to change is the jvm. This
    will probably void your warranty though :-). Basically, what we did here, was install
    it on solaris. Move the whole thing to linux. Remove the ebcc jvm directory. Then,
    make a soft link to the installed jdk.

  • Support for itunes plus file transfer / playback

    The lastest Nokia Media Transfer application for the mac allows the transfer of itunes plus (.m4a extension) files, these are purchased itunes tracks without DRM. From what I understand apple have modified the tag data on these files which prevents them from being played on a Nokia phone, the Mac transfer application will process these files to modify this data and allow the tracks to be played.
    My question is, will windows users get a similar application, to avoid the use of third party / manual operations, to allow these files to be transferred directly from itunes to my Nokia in the same manner as the mac application?
    Its usually the mac being the un-supported OS but appears to be windows in this case !

    yeah, Apple have their own way of working with aac/mp4 tags. They add extra bits that other players, unless programmed to read, won't understand, and at worst they won't play the file at all. There is another standard, the Nero standard, and they are similar but the Nero version is more universally recognised. There isn't an ID3v1/ID3v2 for MP4 files, yet. Although, like I said, since 90% of the world uses the Apple method of tagging, that is close enough to being a standard.
    It's not that Nokia don't want you using iTunes, or like you said, they would force Mac users to use a Nokia music program. I think it is just that the whole "PC Suite" philosophy is geared around the Windows Media Player way of doing and tagging things. And since WMP doesn't recognise m4a files, neither does the Nokias. To get around this, instead of fixing their mp4 codecs to recognise Apple formatting, they made a transfer program that swaps the tags to a Nokia-understandable format. Which is just silly.
    I've tried the Suite Music Manager, I have. Honest opinion - use Windows Media player instead. BUT I don't want to use that either, I have a huge collection ripped/catalogued in iTunes, and I shouldn't have to go about fiddling with tags and swapping software/workflows just so my phone can play it. I don't need to with MP3 so why should I need to with AAC/MP4? It would only take a few lines of code in the phone's AAC codec for it to read these tags, surely thats easier than making transfer programs and Music Managers?
    The arguement "Nokia want you buying from the Nokia store rather than iTMS" doesn't hold water either, because I'm never buying from either, as long as I can still buy CDs from the shop.
    Like I said, this whole thing may be fixed with the new N95-8 etc. If its not, and Nokia have no intention of fixing it, then my next phone will be an iPhone. I don't WANT an iPhone, but this whole thing is a deal-breaker for me.

  • Windows AD with Kerberos authentication not supported for NW AS JAVA 7.1

    The Admin guide for BO 3.1 states that Windows AD with Kerberos authentication is not supported on NetWeaver AS.
    Can anybody suggest & confirm on this???

    I know we haven't been receiving cases for it, but I think in theory it should work fine. BO doesn't really care what web/app kerberos comes from as the manual authentication uses the java SDK (i.e tomcat 5.5 would use Sun JDK 1.5), and SSO kerberos (vintela) uses 3rd party libraries. It's possible our 3rd party libraries may not support netweaver yet. If I hear anything else I'll post.

    Hi Abasith,
    Good day. As per our project requirment, we need to have 2 versions of Application. One in English & Arabic. Our Idea to implement Arabic is to have a properties file.(Resource bundle). But I cannot see the Arabic letters in property file created using Arabic. So we moved to Word pad & saved the document as Arabic. I am able to reach the properties. But when i use to get the string from there I m getting an exception No resource bundle found for locale.
    This is my code.
    public class Test1 {
    public static void main(String s[]){
    ResourceBundle resource_bundle; // The Resource Bundle super class
    Locale locale;
    locale = new Locale("ar","AR");
    System.out.println(locale.getCountry());
    try {
    resource_bundle = ResourceBundle.getBundle("tryone_"+locale, locale);
    //System.out.println( resource_bundle.toString());
    System.out.println("Resource Bundle here "+resource_bundle.getKeys().toString());
    Enumeration en = resource_bundle.getKeys();
    while (en.hasMoreElements()){
         System.out.println("Elements "+en.nextElement().toString());
    System.out.println(resource_bundle.getString("Myname"));
    System.out.println(resource_bundle.getLocale());
    } catch (MissingResourceException mre) {

  • How to insert message in OC4J JMS from standalone java client.

    Hi,
    I have been following available examples for creating standalone java clients to insert messages in JMS queues.
    I am able to insert using java client when the SOA suite and the standalone java code are on same machine.
    package producerconsumerinjava;
    import javax.jms.*;
    import javax.naming.*;
    import java.util.Hashtable;
    public class QueueProducer
    public static void main(String[] args)
    String queueName = "jms/demoQueue";
    String queueConnectionFactoryName = "jms/QueueConnectionFactory";
    Context jndiContext = null;
    QueueConnectionFactory queueConnectionFactory = null;
    QueueConnection queueConnection = null;
    QueueSession queueSession = null;
    Queue queue = null;
    QueueSender queueSender = null;
    TextMessage message = null;
    int noMessages = 5;
    * Set the environment for a connection to the OC4J instance
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "oracle.j2ee.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "oc4jadmin");
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "mypass");

    * Set the Context Object.
    * Lookup the Queue Connection Factory.
    * Lookup the JMS Destination.
    try
    jndiContext = new InitialContext(env);
    queueConnectionFactory =
    (QueueConnectionFactory) jndiContext.lookup(queueConnectionFactoryName);
    queue = (Queue) jndiContext.lookup(queueName);
    catch (NamingException e)
    System.out.println("JNDI lookup failed: " + e.toString());
    System.exit(1);
    * Create connection.
    * Create session from connection.
    * Create sender.
    * Create text message.
    * Send messages.
    * Send non text message to end text messages.
    * Close connection.
    try
    queueConnection = queueConnectionFactory.createQueueConnection();
    queueSession =
    queueConnection.createQueueSession(false, Session.AUTO_ACKNOWLEDGE);
    queueSender = queueSession.createSender(queue);
    message = queueSession.createTextMessage();
    for (int i = 0; i < noMessages; i++)
    message.setText("Message " + (i + 1));
    System.out.println("Producing message: " + message.getText());
    queueSender.send(message);
    queueSender.send(queueSession.createBytesMessage());

    finally
    if (queueConnection != null)
    try
    queueConnection.close();
    catch (JMSException e)
    System.out.println("Closing error: " + e.toString());
    But when the SOA Suite is remote, I am struggling to get the settings correct
    Till now, here is what I have figured out from looking at blogs/tars etc on the Net:
    1. I need to use ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory instead of RMIInitialContextFactory (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14101_01/doc.1013/e13975/jndi.htm)
    2. The project should have a META-INF/application-client.xml file, which may be dummy (http://www.wever.org/java/space/Oracle/JmsTar1). Question is, my code is there in a single absolutely standalone code..how I can use this application-client.xml and where it has to be placed.
    Errors:
    When trying to run exact same code on local server that tries to enqueue JMS on remotee serverer
    Exception occurred: javax.jms.JMSException: Unable to create a connection to "xxxxxxx.yyyyyy01.dev.com/10.42.456.11:12,602" as user "null".
    Any help is greatly welcome.
    As an exercise, I copied this complete code on the server and then ran locally using a telnet client...it worked. So the problem is coming when accessing the server remotely.
    Rgds,
    Amit

    1. I need to use ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory instead of RMIInitialContextFactoryNot necessarily.
    2. The project should have a META-INF/application-client.xml fileThat's only necessary if going the ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory route.
    There are two types of JMS client applications you can write -- a pure/plain Java app, and an "AppClient". That first is your everyday run-of-the-mill Java application, nothing special. That latter is a special, complicated beast that tries to act as a part of the whole client/server/J2EE architecture which provides you with a semi-managed environment. Either can be made to work, but if all you need is JMS access (using plain OC4J JMS factory/queue names and not JMS Connector names), then the first is easier to get working (and performs a tiny bit better as well due to being a lighter-weight solution).
    I think the problem you are having might be: When you use the plain Java client solution, you do not have any type of management, and that includes user management. With no user management (and if the JMS server is not configured to allow anonymous connections) you need to include the username and password in the call to createConnection. (I think it may be that this is actually true in the AppClient case as well -- I avoid using the AppClient model as much as possible so my memory there is weaker.)
    If you prefer to go the AppClient route, I would point you to a demo I wrote which had a functioning example, but Oracle seems to have removed it (and all of the 10.1.3 demos?) from OTN. :-(
    Hmm, it seems to still be available on the wayback machine:
    http://web.archive.org/web/20061021064014/www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1013/how_to/index.html
    (Just look down the page for "With OEMS JMS (In-Memory and File-Based)" -- there is an .html document with info, and there is a .zip file with source code.)
    Question is, my code is there in a single absolutely standalone code..how I can use this application-client.xml and where it has to be placed.The app client in my demo had the following directory structure:
    myjavaclient.class
    jndi.properties
    META-INF\MANIFEST.MF
    META-INF\application-client.xml
    META-INF\orion-application-client.xml
    When you use ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory I think it just looks under .\META-INF for the .xml files.

  • How to create a Java Client from a wsdl file...

    Hi,
    I am looking for an available option for calling a Cobol unit from a Java application( front end). I've used the MicroFocus tool for creating a wsdl file from our Cobol unit.. Now i want to use this wsdl file for creating a Java Client..
    Can any one suggest a suitable solution (software that makes use of the already existing wsdl file and generate a Java Client for that) ASAP....
    Thanks,

    Hey you can create java client using Eclispe or WSAD or far that matter any other IDE. crate a project save the WSDLs in a package. Right click on WSDL goto webservice option. From there you can generate client.

  • Subscribe OJMS Message from Java Client ??

    Hi
    I am using Oracle 9iAS (9.0.3) with OJMS as JMS Resource Provider. I could able to publish the messages and MDB's will be able to subscribes the messages.
    How to subscribe the above message from External Java Client.
    Can anybody will provide some sample code.
    Thanks in Advance
    Madhu

    The problem here is how to register JMS destination (topic or queue) in JNDI and then to obtain the initial context where they can be looked up. Then the business is the same for an External Java Client as the code that runs in JSP.
    To do it, you may see the code examples in
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/sample_code/tech/java/jms/index.html
    The second example, "JMS1.1 Domain Unification Sample" which is for 10g, does work for me. I did not try the first example, "JMS Sample Application", which is for oc4j 9.0.2 or higher.

  • OJMS and Standalone Java Client

    Hi ,
    any one had luck in accessing the ojms queue from a standalone java application.I am using oc4j standalone 9.0.0.3 container.I was able to do it from a jsp page .
    But when i tried the same from standalone java client , its giving me javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: "No object bound for java:comp/resource/TestRP/QueueConnectionFactories/RPTable". The same lookup succeeds inside the jsp.Is there any additional configuration to be there for the standalone java client ?
    thanks in advance ..
    prem

    Perhaps too obvious a point, but your standalone java client is running in a process different from that of oc4j. How do your java client process connect to oc4j?
    Note that a jsp is running inside oc4j.

  • Java.lang.Error: JAX-RPC 1.1 method is not supported in WLS 8.1 clients.

    We have some web services that run under OC4J 10.1.3.4. We have various JEE 'client' apps (JSF, servlets etc.) that use these web services. These JEE apps also run under OC4J.
    We started a migration project from oc4j to weblogic 10.3.2. In phase 1 we want to move these JEE 'client' apps to weblogic. In phase 2 we want to move the web services themselves to weblogic with adjustments to the JEE 'client' apps as needed.
    However we ran into an issue during this phase 1. Deploying these JEE 'client' apps to weblogic results in an error like this:
    java.lang.Error: JAX-RPC 1.1 method is not supported in WLS 8.1 clients. If you are attempting to run an OC4J 10.1.3 JAX-RPC client in WLS, please see the Web Service Migration Guide for instructions.
    We are including Oracle web services client libraries (http://download.oracle.com/otn/java/oc4j/1013/wsclient_extended.zip) in these JEE 'client' apps's war files because weblogic does not have them.
    What part of Web Service Migration Guide is the above error message talking about? Do we have to re-generate the client side proxies for all these web services using weblogic's clientgen task in 'JAXRPC' mode? Many of these web services are doc/literal jax-rpc web services. Or does the migration guide recommend we migrate the web services first to weblogic? Any other specific information on working around this error message would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    I had the same issue but I just managed to fix it. You must upgrade and/or regenerate you proxy. This creates new classes (possibily in a new package) that you must use in your code. I had this error because the classes directory was not clean after the rebuild and the old classes (in the old package) were still present, so the compilation was successful with the old classes. So clean your classes directories, regenerate your proxy and use the new classes in your code.
