IE Tester vs. Adobe BrowserLab

Which website tester is more accurate out of IE Tester and Adobe BrowserLab?
I sometimes get different results, but usually when I test IE6 (I don't know why I care about IE6, but this may be the last project I worry about IE6).
Here is what I get with Adobe BrowserLab (looks as it should)
Here is what I get with IE Tester (notice the red outline).
I tend to think IE Tester is buggy (especially on the IE6 tab) because it crashes at random times (sometimes when it's just idle in the background).
What other browser testers are there out there?
Are people still designing for IE6?

I wouldn't be afraid to express what's on your mind. If it's coming from a place of experience, that's accepted. I only have issue when people randomly throw out their opinions and have a). no idea of what I'm talking about and/or b). have no idea what I'm talking about. I don't think it's a matter of code (because it's a simple background image inside a div). I'm not sure there are enough variables in that to think it's a matter of code. I just think it's a matter of IE Tester being buggy. Like I said, I've really only noticed the differences when I use the IE6 tab, but again like I said, I'm not going to worry about IE6 after this project (or maybe not worry about it now). Last I checked, IE6 had a market usage of around 3%, and I'm sure my client's target audience would be more "up to date people".
The bad thing about BrowserLab is the fact they are going to discontinue their "free service" sometime this year, so I better start looking for alternative ways to test websites on older browsers.
Maybe one day all the browser developing geeks will meet and come up with a more standard and compatible platform. It's ridiculous to have so many variables to accommodate when designing.

  • Adobe BrowserLab missing IE6

Just last week I use to have IE6 as a browser listed in Adobe BrowserLab.
    Now it is missing IE6.
In Adobe BrowserLab > All Browsers it no longer lists IE6.
    It starts with IE7
    How to get it back?
    David
    From Adobe BrowserLab help
    Change the default Browser Set
In BrowserLab, click the Browser Sets link at the top of the application window.
Select the Default Browser Set if it isn't already selected.
Add or delete browsers from the Browser Set by making selections in the Available Browsers column.

    Hello terrymeh,
We have removed IE7 from BrowserLab, which you can read about on our blog: http://blogs.adobe.com/browserlab/2013/01/01/browserlab-update-removes-ie7/
In that blog post, we direct you to information that explains how you can use IE8 to test IE7 too.

  • Adobe BrowserLab plugin in FF

When i enter url in Adobe BrowserLab then not able to perform any action in the page. url looks like it is screenshot. like when i enter google.com and try to search any term then not able to perform that action.
Can anyone please suggest me what to do?

First off, this is the forum for Adobe Shadow, a different (though somewhat related) tool from BrowserLab. The BrowserLab forums are here: http://forums.adobe.com/community/cslive/browserlab?view=discussions . I'll be moving your question there.
As far as your question goes, yes, BrowserLab functions by taking a screenshot of the web page and returning that to your local computer. BrowserLab is a tool for visual testing of your web pages, it doesn't allow for direct interactivity with the page. There is a way to do some of that if you make use of the BrowserLab for Firebug add-on for Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/adobe-browserlab-for-firebug/
You can interact with your page locally and ask BrowserLab for screenshots of that same state in other browsers.
    Hope this helps,

  • Testing WebDynpro Adobe Interactive forms Using eCATT or any other testing

    Hi All,
We are testing WebDynpro Adobe forms (Java). is there any methodology to test Interactive forms not normal webdynpro applications. Especially Interactive form with UI fields like dropdwons, datepickers dropdown values are from BAPI/RFC's  in these forms we will perfom actions like send data to backend and display PO created in onther view.
once we repaly the test script all the drop down values are not updated this test scenario we tested with LR.
Is there any procedure to test this scenario using eCATT or any other testing Tool.

    Hi Vara,
You can develop Interactive forms using WD ABAP also.

  • Can I create a custom setup test for Adobe Connect Pro?

I was wondering if there was a way to create a custom setup test for Adobe Connect Pro?  We are using Adobe Connect to teach some web courses and we need them to complete the Adobe Connect test as well as some other software setup tests.  Due to the fact that we are using a company wide account for Adobe Connect the "Send Results" button on the setup test doesn't reach me (I am the one in charge of making sure all students have taken all the setup tests).  Typically we have them take a test and then return back to the main 'test' page where they select whether or not the test worked.
In the end I figure I have two options:
    1. Change the test so that it emails the responses to the email of my choice, i.e. a custom version of the setup test. (Not sure if this is possible as we use a company account)
    2. Completely remove the "Send Results" button from setup test and just rely on the student manually entering whether the test worked or not.
    Please help!

The timecode effect can only show whole frames so there is not a setting for 23.97. I'm not at my editor at the moment, is there an option for 'drop frame' in the timecode settings, this is how timecode is displayed for non whole number frame rates.

  • Hi, It's my last day test on adobe elements 12. I want to buy it now but It's looks only posible to buy the Adobe elements 13 version. If I buy this 13 version, I'm going to loose all the projects I did before with the elements 12 test evaluation? Thanks!

Are you currently working on a tryout of Premiere Elements 12 downloaded from Adobe?
If so, you do not have to buy from Adobe. You can purchase the version from an authorized reseller of
    the product.
At that point, you can leave the 12 tryout installed and just install your purchased serial number from
the authorized reseller or uninstall the tryout and just install the purchased product with its serial number.
When you open a tryout 12 project file (with Adobe watermark) in a purchased Premiere Elements 12, the
    Adobe watermark should disappear
    a. if you use Timeline/Delete Rendered Files
    or
    b. do nothing...so of us have found that just opening the tryout file in a purchased product removes the Adobe
    watermark automatically.
    As for
If I buy this 13 version, I'm going to loose all the projects I did before with the elements 12 test evaluation?
Are you talking about the Adobe watermark? You will not lose the projects, but whether or not the Adobe watermark
is removed in a purchased version which is not the version in which it was created is of concern.
I will see what exploration and experimentation on that I can do.

  • Is there a possibility for a one-day-test for "Adobe ExportPDF"

    Hi
    before I order "
    "Adobe ExportPDF"
I would like to test this service /OCR-Engine.
Does anybody know how good the OCR is for documents which have been scanned in with a flatbed scanner and tranfered into PDF with 300dpi?
Does it recognize german documents? Could I test this for one document, before I buy the service for one year?
    Thanks
    Jochen

    Hi Ajlan,
    thank you for your reply.
Is the Adobe ExportPDF service (engine) equivalent to Adobe Acrobat XI
    pro software?
Or is it different. I ask especially, if the Adobe ExportPDF service
give me back a word/spelling checked/corrected PDF or just as in Adobe
Acrobat XI pro, whereafter I have to do the correction myself.
    Thank you
    best regards

  • Adobe Browserlab - Tells me network connection settings won't allow connection

I can use the Dreamweaver --> File --> Preview In Browser menu to test from so maybe it's no big deal but was just wondering if I was missing something by not having Browser Lab and if I am how do I modify my Mac Network connection settings to get Browserlab to work?
       me again  -- Dave V.

    In this one http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/846/cpsid_84665.html
    On Mac OS X
    Do the following:
    Quit all CS5 applications.
Open the Apple Property List Editor (supplied with the Apple SKD) or other property list editor application..
    Open the file [Startup Disk]/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.AdobeOnlineHelp.plist.
Select Root to see the subentries.
Locate the string object AdobeOnlineDefault. if the key does not exist, you'll need to create it.
Double-click this string value and set it's Value Data to "0" to disable CS Live access.
    Save the com.adobe.AdobeOnlineHelp.plist file.
    Quit the plist editor.
I put that value to 1 instead of 0 and it made everything work. The CS Live button in the Tool bar in all Adobe applications is for access to various online Adobe services, BrowserLab among them. I don't have Property List Editor but used Prefsetter and it worked. I've for a long time had my Adobe applications saying that they are not connected to the internet. But doing this setting today solved it for me. CS Live is not only for groups. I am a one-person operation but the CS Live button is the easiest way to reach those services you want. Provided the application don't says that it is not connected to the internet... The Adobe technote describes how top turn it off, not how to turn it on. And it is only the AdobeOnline Default that needs changing. Nothing else.

  • Testing out Adobe Photoshop

I recently had a project for someone that I had to take a picture and insert it into a word document but it was harder to do then it sounds. I opened a image of this persons motorcycle and had to cut it out it from the background and from other objects.
I used a number a tools that include the brush tool and the eraser. As I finished up, I saved it as a picture and inserted it in a word document. When I was at this stage of the project, I change the image so the wrapped text would be behind the text and placed
it so it looked professional. This was my first time using Adobe Photoshop and it only took me two days. The winner for this project would get something of value, so wish me luck; Until next time.

In rare cases using Black Point Compensation can cause unacceptable results and the effect is usually washed out detail in the very dark regions of the final image. In our experience this problem usually rears its ugly head with some RGB output profiles.
Adobe recommends, and we agree, that in almost all cases, Black Point Compensation should be on when dealing with CMYK files (doing
RGB to CMYK conversions or CMYK to CMYK conversions). In most cases, doing RGB to RGB conversions without Black Point Compensation will produce desirable prints. However, depending on the profile, doing a conversion from RGB to RGB with Black Point Compensation can produce
poor output with washed out blacks.
It appears that this problem with some RGB profiles is dependent
on the software that is used to generate the profile. Apparently there is a Black Tag feature in ICC profiles that in some cases can be used or unused depending on the software that actually creates the profile. For this reason, there is no hard and fast rule that says we should or should not use Black Point Compensation with RGB output. Our recommendation is to turn off Black Point Compensation with RGB output profiles or if possible, try a test with Black Point Compensation
    on and off.
There is one other case where you may want to turn off Black Point Compensation. When you want to soft proof output for a printer that has a low dynamic range like newspaper, where the blacks are
usually not very dense. By turning off the Black Point Compensation, the soft proof is more accurate in predicating the effect of this low dynamic range. Black Point Compensation should be turned off
in the CMYK Set-Up. You can view full information for this problem source www.digitaldog.net/files/Black_Point_Compensation.pdf

  • What is "Test" in Adobe Application Manager?

Today, I launched Adobe Application Manager, because seeing how Dreamweaver was crashing, I thought there were updates. Well, it asked me for my Adobe ID, which it hadn't before, then there was a list of every Adobe CS application of mine, and a Test option on them. Well, I thought, "it's going to check for updates", so I clicked them all. Some had a Test option, while others had an Install option.
Photoshop started to download, but it was really long. Over half an hour. As the next app started downloading, I cancelled everything, thinking "is it redownloading every single program that I have?" and pressed the "Launch"(or is it "Run"? Sorry, my installation is in French, and I'm not sure what it is in English) option that had replaced the Test one on Photoshop. And it... launched Photoshop.
So I'm wondering... What the heck did it just do? Was it unable to determine whether I had those programs installed and thus decided to re-install everything over again, or what?

It shouldn't prevent you from seeing updates.  You can launch the update portion of the Adobe Application Manager by going to Help>Updates in an application like Photoshop or Dreamweaver.  You can then see which updates it is looking for under the preferences section.  Please see below for screenshots of what I am referring too.

  • Question : got stuck on authentification on Adobe BrowserLab

I am currently evaluating dreamweaver cs5.5 (before deciding whether buying or not).
When I want to get a preview of my page in BrowserLab, I get stuck  on authentification with only the blue bar working.
What should I do ? I do not know where to start for a check ? I am a brain new beginner in creating web pages.

    Hi Sophie,
to BrLab I can switch so too, my steps are these (screenshots from my German DW):
    or this way:
From there DW leads me per this blue bar to (I inserted the English/USA-link for you, maybe you can use it directly): https://browserlab.adobe.com/en-us/index.html. From there I'll get this form:
where I can accept or not "CS Services Additional Terms of Use".

  • Performance testing using Adobe flash 9.0

Does anyone know a way to Performance test an application

The number one reason that the ActiveX installer fails to
install on IE are due to incorrect permissions in the system
registry. We have solved hundreds of these Windows system
    permissions with Microsoft’s SubInACL tool.
Note: This is strictly for Windows IE, these issues do not
occur on other browsers such as Firefox.
    www.firefox.com
To fix these Windows system registry permission conflicts you
    can use Microsoft’s SubInACL tool.
Warning: The following solution involves the Windows System
Registry. Editing or manipulating the registry incorrectly can
result in serious system damage which may require re-installation
of the operating system. If you are not comfortable editing the
registry, then take your system to a professional. If you choose to
proceed, then it is essential that you create a complete system
backup and a Windows System Restore Point before proceeding.
Please download Microsoft’s tool to your desktop.
    http://www.supportflash.com/reset_min.zip
    1. Login as the User that has the incorrect permissions in
    the system registry
    2. unzip the “reset_minimal.cmd” and the
    “subinacl.exe” to the desktop
*** Make sure both files are on the desktop
    3. Close out all applications
    4. Run the “reset.cmd” file
    5. It will open a DOS like terminal and start running through
    registry keys

  • I can't open Adobe BrowserLab in Windows 7

It comes up, but the buttons on the right side only show their colors, and no words.

Yeah, that don't look right at all. Within the grey square above the goldish square there should be a goldish colored button. I have no idea what's going on, so I'm going to have to ask a bunch of questions and have you try a few things:
Have you previously been able to successfully use BrowserLab on this machine?
If so, can you think of anything that's changed since it was last working for you?
Did you follow the link to check which version of Flash Player is installed on that machine, and can you let me know what the full version number is?
What browser name and version are you using?
Can you try using a different browser and see if that works?
Can you try rebooting your machine, clearing the browser cache, and try BrowserLab again?
    Thanks,
