IE works, Firefox doesn't
Using Airport Express, Macbook laptop, HP laptop with XP (SP 2)
Express is up and running, Macbook gets the connection just fine, and has no issues at all.
On the other hand, the HP laptop has issues. It can see the wireless network and connect just fine. However, some programs act like there is no internet connection. Firefox won't work, and neither will AIM (neither 6 nor 6.5). What's weird is that Internet Explorer works just fine.
Any ideas?
A few months ago someone suggested there were settings in FF and AIM that needed to be changed, but I don't think that's the case. AIM even has an auto configuration mode, and that failed.

I don't know if this is the issue, but you might check to see if Firefox is up-to-date. Filehippo has a program that scans your computer and checks for this: http://www.filehippo.com/updatechecker/
I know that it prompts me quite often that there is a new update for Firefox. Download it to your desktop and run it from there.

I opened Firefox. When I try to get into any website, the error message 'unable to connect" appears. I switched over to Internet Explorer and it work fine - I can connect to the Internet with no problems. So, what's going on? How can I fix it?
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

When I click on the 'help' key in the elements 12 program it wants to open it in Firefox2. Firefox doesn't work on my Macbook Pro Air. I use Safari. How do I get it to open?
Hmm, that is very strange. I agree with MichelB that it's probably best just to get the PDF, but you can try going to your username>library>preferences and deleting:
com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist

To see the library, click the Go menu in the Finder and hold down the option key and it will appear below the little house for your user account. While you're in there it wouldn't be a bad idea to go to the Saved Application States folder and delete anything pertaining to PSE.
Repair permissions and see if that does it. -
I have an HP ProBook 4520s. I have been using HP Protect tool's Password manager to store and manage my passords for all Login websites in Firefox 3.6. As a result, I just swiped my fingerprint to log on to any website.
After I installed the version 4 of Firefox, my all my login details do not work anymore. I have tried to reset them but I repeatedly get this error: "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (dpql) isn't associated with any program."
something like this would have been passed onto the address: "dpql://c:\program%20files%20(x86)\hewlett-packard\hp%20protecttools%20security%20manager\bin\dpminionlineids.dll/qlinkload.htm#id=2".
Although the password manager works with Internet Explorer 9, I need it to work with Firefox 4 as this is my preferred browser.
Please help. Thank you!I guess this means that IE is more user friendly for HP Password Manager finger swipe recall of passwords, a favorite of mine. I still don't see a post from Firefox as to why they haven't produced fix. So I'll switch to IE until things change. I don't see value in downgrading to a Firefox version that's no longer going to be supported.

CostantinoAre you printing from the Flash right-click menu or through Firefox? I don't think Firefox prints Flash regions when you print the entire page.

I am using Firefox 3.6.13 on a 2009 Mac Pro computer (OSX 10.6.6). Up until yesterday when I clicked on a link in an email message Firefox opened a new tab and switched to that particular website. Since yesterday Firefox doesn't do that. I have Firefox set up as my default browser. I tried to change my default browser to Safari, then everything worked fine. Clicking on a link in a message a new tab has opened in Safari with that particular website. My problem is, that I like Firefox a bit more than Safari and I'd like to know what to do to restore that functionality to Firefox.
It's a good idea to try disabling Flash completely and see whether the problem continues. If it does, then my guess is incorrect. To test that, open this tab:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category
Here you can locate Shockwave Flash and use the Disable button. Keep this tab open for easy access when doing your test.

I started update connected to my work computer....it started update and now it is asking me to connect to Itunes, which I have but my work computer doesn't have my Iphone information, it says I have the latest software, my only option is to "restore phone" which I don't want to do here at work as none of my apps or music are showing up ..... I can't use my phone now when I start up it says connect to itunes.....

That "test" page should be viewed in Internet Explorer and not with Firefox, as it may use ActiveX which isn't compatible with any Mozilla product.

Firefox doesn't play video and audio, cann't download anything!
A very strange problem occurred a few days ago. I didn't pay attention on it at first ( I thought it was caused by my provider) but now I found that it's a real problem. Firefox doesn't play video or audio. For instance, it starts loading and that's all. The same is with playing music. In addition, I can't download any files and view a big image as quick as early.
What is more interesting sometimes Firefox just begins to work in ordinary way.There is no single codec for movies that have .avi extensions. AVI is a container format, not a specific type of file. An AVI movie may use one of the Indeo codecs (there are at least four that I'm aware of, none of which have been ported to Mac OS X) or one of the various flavors of DivX, among other possibilities. You'll have to find out what codec was used for the movies you want to view to determine what you need. Note that not all codecs for the various .avi movies are available for QuickTime.
If you want to try "hit and miss", you can try the codecs at http://www.divx.com/ and http://www.3ivx.com/ and see if one of them will work for you. Perian, which rolls several codecs into one package, might also work.
If you just want to play the movie any way you can, you can also give this player a try:

Bug? firefox doesn't load clips!
Hi everybody...
I have this terrible problem...
I'm developing a site entirely made with flash (customer's
request...), and I rely on flash's ability to loadClips (movies)...
It already works on Internet Explorer, Opera, and other
browsers, but with firefox... it is like it doesn't even send the
request to the server to load the clip, since I put some listeners,
and the onLoadStart() isn't called...
I'm using the MovieClipLoader object to make the loadings...
so... does anyone have any idea on what's going on? any solution?
