IE01 equipment no validation

Dear all
I have issue in IE01. I need to validate the equipment number as per the number range.
For example: My equipment no will generate from BDPH123 like that. person gives Instead of BDPH if they give any other character it should rise error message. It should not allow to process.

Hello siva,
practically it's only the numerrange definition to the equipment-type. You can find that in transaction OIEN.
But i guess your organization is using external number ranges, because the internal one's would be strikly numeric.

Using BAPI to upload Equipment Master (IE01). Fields that are uploaded are Equipment category, valid to date, Equip. Description, object type, Acquisition value, Acquisition date, Maintenance Plan, plan section, catalog profile. Input file is accessed from application server. Error log file is created at application server.

Start up Date => Date from which the Equipment is used for operation or in any activities. This will be used for MTTR / MTBR analysis, as Thyagarajan told.
Valid from date => Date from which that equipment is valid for the existing structure. In case, if Superior FL / Equipment has been changed for the equipment, valid from date will get changed according to that.

IE01 Create Equipment with reference

Hello,
I have an existing equipment with an asset# attached to it.
I then create another equipment (IE01) with reference to that equipment. This will automatically bring in the asset# to my new equipment but I don't want.
So, is there any User-Exit or BADI that I can remove this asset value at the point of saving (IE01) or even before that? I have tried with some User-Exits (IEQM0001, IEQM0002, IEQM0003, IEQM0007) and BADIs (BADI_CCM_FULLY_EQUI, EQUI_UPDATE) but it doesn't work.

On Initial Screen IE01 = Equipment Cat
Then In General Screen = Description, and other data optional and required.
Locatin Tab = Main Plant and Location
Organisation = Cost center
Structure = if this equipement is under any other equipment or function location then click on right hand box and mention the fnction location or equipment.
Now you can save.

Interface between Legacy and SAP for Equipment Master

Hello
I got a requirement where I need to develop a interface between legacy system and R/3 system for Equipment Master Data update in R/3. I am thinking of getting a Idoc file from Legacy and then update the changes or any new creation of Equipments in R/3. I found a standard BAPI for this BAPI_EQUIPMENT_CREATE/CHANGE. This BAPI use a strcture BAPI_ITOB for data record of IDoc. But I got more data from legacy except what we have in BAPI_ITOB. I got Partner Data, Classification data also for Equipments. I am thinking of copying the BAPI to a Z function module and modify the Idoc structure , message type and all to capture all the data and then do a update in same way as standard transaction IE01(Equipment Create) is doing in Batch Input. Do you think if there is any better way of doing this? I am not used to transaction BAPI . just wondering if we Can use that in someway to include our modification?

20,000 is on quite higher side for IDOC.
IBIP help doc says it needs 2 Kbyte for each record, i.e. 40 Mb for 20,000 rec. that should be ok. Since it has structures for Partner & classification data , I don't think u need to modify the BAPI.

Deleting Equipment Usage List - Table EQUZ, Field DATAB

Hi Gurus,
An equipment was inadvertently uninstalled from a location and then resinstalled again. This resulted in a new Valaidity Date being created.
We have a third part tool, that uses the Validity From date for its calculation. It seems unlikely that the Validity From date can be changed as this tracks the usage of equipment.
The option I have is to delete the entry from the EQUZ table. The challenege is that Validity To can not be modified as it seems to be a primary key in the table.
How advisable is to delete the entries from the EQUZ table and insert a single entry into the EQUZ table.
To Illiustrate the point:
Desired State - Equipment A:
Validity From - 31.11.2007 Validity To: 31.12.9999
Current State:
Validity From - 31.11.2007 Validity To: 20.05.2010
Validity From - 20.05.2010 Validity To: 31.12.9999

Hi,
It is probably best to adjust the latest EQUZ record (validity to 31.12.9999), change the valid from field back to original 31.11.2007 date. Then delete the earlier EQUZ records.
It is not an ideal way to fix the situation so ensure you document and keep copies of these records as they are now.

Data load error during updation of master data

Dear all,
While updating the master data from the PSA , the following error is appearing and the load fails.
"The time interval ['20050313'/'20050313'] & (from/to) for the data
records 1 & and 2 & overlaps in characteristic 0EQUIPMENT &."
What could be the reason for this error and how to correct the same.
I am able to understand that the valid from and the valid to date are same. in R/3 whenever a change record is created for the equipment the valid from and the valid to date will be the same as shown below.
Creation of record (for example today) valid from :- 02.06.2008 and valid to 31.12.9999.
Change of record (for example tommorrow) Valid from :- 03.06.2008 and valid to 31.12.9999
In the above case the valid to date of the creation data will automatically change from 31.12.9999 to 03.06.2008.
How could this be solved.

Hi Magesh,
Please look at /BIC/*Equipment table in SE16.
Find the record with a key = ********* and notice what values have Date_from and Date_to fields. The interval they determine, overlap with ur date_to and date_from.
You need to supply correct date_to & date_from values.

Note: this is a common scenario in time dependendent master data.....it happens because you have two records for the same values of master data and also they have overlapping time interval.....you cannot have two values of master data at the same time.

Document PRT

Dear Team,
I am trying to create the document PRT in CV01n. While creating the document in CV01N for PRT, which indicator specifies that it is a document PRT?
while creating PRT in IE01 (equipment PRT), i am specifying the equipment category as "P" to indicate PRT. Similar way, how to specify the document PRT while creating the document in CV01n?
Is the document PRT created based on the document type selection in CV01n?
If so, in SPRO->Cross Application component>DMS->Control Data->Define document type. While creating the new document type in SPRO, which field indicates this document type is relevant for PRT?
Is it possible to provide the grouping key 1 and grouping key 2 details for document PRT as well like other PRTs?

Thing is it's all SAP definitions...
But to answer your question- in CF01, SAP has not provided any field on initial screen to distinguish the PRT's & hence a Grouping Key is made available whereas in CV01N, a Document Type itself distinguishes the data you're creating in SAP whether it's PRT document or something else and hence SAP doesn't felt any need of field like Grouping Key in CV01N.

Doubts on calibration process

Hi,
I AM DOING CALIBRATION PROCESS FOR THE FIRST TIME. The process i followed is:
IE01:Equipment
IP11: Maintainence Strategy
IA05: Task List
IP42: Maintainence Plan
IP10: Scheduling Of plan
IP30: Job Planning
Above this i have assigned Inspection type 14 to PM order type for calibration.
My doubt is:
1) Is the process that I am following is correct.
2) If yes, then after I schedule the orders by IP10, Do i need to relese the orders manually in IP10 or do the orders are made & released automatically when I execute IP30. Please let me know what is the process.
3) If i reject the MIC in result recording does the order still get the status of TECO as it gets when i accept the UD.
4) Do the maintainence orders get generated automatically after executing IP30 automatically.

Following is the pre requisite for calibration orders.
Maintain the inspection type 014 in customising (done by QM consultant)
Assign Inspection type 014 to order type PM05 in customising.
Maintaing the following master data:
Create Master inspection charecteristics
Maintain sampling procdedure
Tasklist with inspection point as 300 for equipment
Assign inspection charectersitics to operations
Maintain catalogs for results recording / usage decision
Create Maintenance Plan
Schedule the maintenance plan
Calibration orders would be generated
release and inspection lt will be created
Check through Tcode QA32 and process the inspection lot - results recording, usage decision

EQUI table Create/Update (URGENT)

Can anybody suggest a BADI which is getting triggered when new entry for serial number is created and because of this new entry is created in EQUI database table.
Either by 1) IE01 equipment create
              2) IE02 equipment change
              3) VL01N - outbound delivery
              4) MIGO - Goods issue or goods mvmt.
In anycase this BADI or Enhancement point need to trigger.

Validation Errors with new Install of W7 x64 Ent Debug Checker On New Equipment

I am receiving multiple Errors. I am trying to use the Windows 7 x64 Enterprise which happens to be the Debug Checker version OS as the host machine. I have only built the machine, and tried to load the Drivers.
I say this due to the starting issue that upon the loading of the entire driver set, (for the MB, Seagate Harddrive, and Vid Card), I would get the BSOD. I identified that the Bluetooth driver was the issue. I then did not load the Bluetooth
drivers for the MB on the 5<sup>th</sup> or so install of the 7 Ent os. (Tried Server 2k8 r2. Which is not compatible with the MB Drivers.)
I have not received a single Update either. The Auto update feature claims that I am up to date. I do not believe this due to the fact that any fresh Install of any OS has about several decades of updates and reboots to go through.
Upon trying the suggestions on the forum about turning off the IE Addons, the errors remain. Also the results of the sfc /scannow are copied below.
My Questions
I am seeking assistance on solving the Errors that have refused to leave me alone , to put it humorously and am asking for your insight and wisdom. Will you take a look??
Do I need to go to Win 7 Ent or Ult x64 that is not a Debug Checker version.
Are there other Microsoft download Registery file checkers besides the MGA Diag tool that are freeware that I can use to check, for corrupted registry files.
Or do I just need to take it to the stores (Fry’s and Microcenter) that recommended the equipment and have them just reload the software and allow them the headache of solving the error issue, by paying them to install the drivers and have ALL of the
drivers work. (including the blue tooth)
The Goal is to turn it into a Active Directory Server using Virtual Box with Server 2k8 R2 running in the virtual box environment.

I have performed the Chkdsk and the memory Diagnostic tool as per the suggestions.
The Memory Tool did not find anything amiss.
As per another thread I am going to try flashing the bios as well with the updates.

Create new Equipment (t-code IE01) for existing asset

HI Expert,
I have an enquiry on equipment creation via t-code IE01 for existing asset. There are synchronization between Asset Master and Equipment Master which mean both sides will be updated during the creation and changes of master data.
I have create new equipment master via t-code IE01 and has tagged to the existing asset. However after save the creation, new inventory number was generated to the asset master and had overwrite the existing inventory no. Is it because of the synchronization or it is a system standard?
Your answer is highly appreciate.

My configuration is "Direct Synchronization After Saving" for both master data (asset master & equipment master).
However, I did not assign the Inventory No Field in asset master as a synchronization with equipment master, so how come system can re-generate new inventory no and overwrite the existing inventory no in the asset master? and what the solution if we do not want system re-generate new inventory no in asset master since it has been effected on the printing barcode sticker for the asset.
