IE11 pop-up window cannot access adobe reader plugin
I am running Windows 7 64-bit and since the IE11 update was installed, I cannot view pdf files from my bank when it launches a pop-up window.
I have installed the latest Acrobat Reader XI and this didn't help.
I have Enhanced Security turned off in IE11.
I have added the domain that is launching the pop-up to my Trusted Sites.
The Adobe Reader plug-in is listed and enabled in IE11.
I can go to another site in the main window and it brings up a pdf file just fine.
(for example, http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/adobe_reader_reference.pdf)
It's something about the pop-up window...
How can I fix this?
An update:
I fiddled with various IE settings - double checked that this was in Trusted Sites - restarted IE11.
All of a sudden, it started working, so who knows what was up. (I thought I'd already done this several times.)
(Still doesn't work on another machine with IE8 on it, but this one has a different problem (Reader XI locks up.)

CHANGED PASSWORD AND STILL CANNOT ACCESS ADOBE READER UPDATE
I HAVE CHANGED MY PASSWORD AND STILL CANNOT ACCESS THE ADOBE READER UPDATE
I think I may understand. There is no password from Adobe for getting an update. So, I think this is the computer's own administrator password, which you will need when you install most software. You chose it when you turned the computer on the first time. And if you forget it you have bigger problems than Adobe Reader.

Windows 2008 windows service cannot launch Adobe Reader
I created a windows service that receives pdf files in one folder and should print them opening adobe reader. In my PC with Windows 7 it works just fine but when the application is deployed in Windows 2008 R2 server then the windows service is not able to
launch Adobe Reader.
I searched on Internet and I found that it might be related to the Session 0 used by the services.
I tried multiple possible solutions without success.
Thank you in advance for any support with this issueHi,
Are there any related error messages logged?
If not, I suggest you use Process Monitor to find out why exactly Windows cannot launch Adobe Reader.

How do I access Adobe Reader XI
I cannot access Adobe Reader since end December 2014 - now using version XI. Shows the following error: AcroRd32.exe. (0x40000015), location 0x00f02f57.
I was able to copy content before Christmas. I see that my pc was upgraded to version XI around 28 December 2014.
Today 7. january 2015, I uninstalled VI and reinstalled it again. There was no change.
I use Norton Utilities as an antivirus program. I do not understand why there has been a change when everything was fine before Christmas.
Please advise.

Stavanger, NorwayHi Pat
I had upgraded to 11.0.10 and I still had the same error message. As soon as I opened Adobe Reader 11.0.10. the error message came up and could not make any changes. Now I have uninstalled version XI and have installed version 10.1.4. I have access to my pdf files now. I use Windows 7.
Can I continue using version 10 instead? -
Hello,
Recently, I have been experiencing a minor problem with the Adobe Reader XI Program loaded on my computer. When clicking the data fields on PDF versions of various forms to enter numerical or text information, a dialogue box with a small white X in a red circle on the left side of the title bar pops open and is titled:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ink\TabTip.exe
There is another white X in a red circle symbol displayed in the message field of the dialogue box along with the following message:
Windows cannot access the specific device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
There is also an “OK” Button displayed on the right side of the lower margin of the dialogue box.
Although the dialogue box is repeatedly displayed whenever I click on a data field, the program still allows me to enter and save the numerical and text information that is entered in each data field.
My computer is a Hewlett-Packard Envy 23-d034 TouchSmart All-In-One Desktop Personal Computer with a Windows 8.1 Operating System that has all applicable Important and Recommended Windows Updates installed. The Adobe Reader XI Program is the latest version, Version 11.0.06, and I have confirmed that there are no updates for the program at this time.
Could you suggest any recommended actions to correct this problem with the Adobe Reader XI Program?unfortunately no. i have a problem in my computer that doesn't let me do that.
this is th entire message though and it appears on the background of the program trying to load. all you can see is the frame of Rreader, and immediatly after that it shuts down -
"windows cannot access specified device, path or file", adobe reader x
hi,
i had an older version of reader (9.something i think) that started making troubles, so i removed it (via control panel) and tried to use reader x instead. but after installing it i tried to run it and got this message titled "c:\programfiles\adobe\reader10.0\eula.exe":
"windows cannot access specified device, path or file. you may not have the appropriate permitions to access the item".
after clicking "ok" the program shuts.
i downloaded this version from adobe's site and registered. i also tried to go back to version 9 but the installation itself wouldn't go.
i'm using windows xp and downloaded reader using chrome. i deleted all previous adobe reader files from my computer prior to downloading, so it should behave as if this the first time this program was installed on it.
how can i solve it? (i've already tried going through the whole process again and again)
thank you for any help.I have found out how to solve this issue..
Took A few days to figure it out and a lot of installs and un-installing
Install CS6 master collection again and restart your machine- Make sure all anti-virus is disabled
What you have to do:
1. Press Start
2. go under "Abode Master Collection CS6 (it should say its empty)
3. now left click the folder "Adobe Master Collection" and open it..
4. it will now come up with all programmes that SHOULD have worked - their thumbnails will not be visible it will look as if its corrupted.
5. Now this is a long procedure- go on the first shortcut, lefts click and go to properties.
6. Then select the option that says "Open File Location" it will then take you to its main folder.
7. Left click the highlighted Programme within the main folder, then go on properties
8. Go on the security Tab, press "continue" then you go on "Add" then type your account name, then "check name" then tick the box "full control"
9. Then navigate to the "compatibility" Tab and select "Run this programme as an administrator (if you don't do this it will come up with another error)
You should now have the thumbnail (picture) for the programme now
You have to now repeat this for the rest of the programmes/shortcut's within the "Adobe Master Collection" Folder -
I cannot access adobe acrobat/reader on my computer, all I get is a message "there is a problem with adobe acrobat/reader please exit and try again 103.103. I never had this before

Cannot access Adobe Folio Builder using Indesign (CS6) on Windows 7, error message is 'An error has occured while trying to sign in to the Folio Builder Panel' [IMS_ERROR_FAILURE]
Yes, I can open the DPS portal via the Folio Builder panel within InDesign. Although I have created Folios locally within InDesign CS6, the DPS portal is empty and everthing greyed out with just the text "There are no folios to display. Create folios with the folio builder in InDesign".
If I try to sign in within the Folio Builder panel in InDesign, I get the error message [IMS_ERROR_FAILURE] . In addition I am also not able to access the "Help" menu from within InDesign although I am connected to the internet.
To complicate it even further, I am working in the UK whereas all internet control (firewall) and licences are handeled by head office in Germany. I am not sure if this is a firwewall issue or not but if the IT department in Germany could get support from Adobe to understand the access requirements, this may help.
Hopefully using the forum someone out there will know the answer. -
I get the error "Cannot use adobe reader to view pdf in your web browser. Reader will now exit. Please exit your browser and try again" in Windows 7 x32 and Windows 7 x64 with Acrobat pro 8.1.7. This happens when trying to open a PDF file in Internet explorer 8.0.760 or when I open a PDF in Quickbooks 2008. If I answer ok or cancel the file opens normally. If I open acrobat 8 first then the pdf files open as expected. I also tried a copy of Acrobat reader with no difference in the outcome. Since this happens on two different computers one fresh copy of windows 7 x64 the other an upgrade to windows 7 x32 and they used to work before the change to windows 7, I assume there is some kind of incompatibility with windows 7 and acrobat. Is this a known issue and will it be fixed in an update to acrobat in the near future?
tvandersluijs - I'm sorry if that screwed up your machine however:
1. What version of Adobe Reader are you using because as you can see the registry entry is for Adobe Reader 9, if ur using Adobe Reader 8 then u need to specify ur version as PAllens entry suggested - "E.g. "C:\Program files\Adobe\Acrobat [version]\Reader\AcroRd32.exe""
2. I've used this solution significantly because I have come across this specific issue for multiple users.
3. All the registry entry does is tell Windows what program to use by default to open/view PDF documents.
My intention wasn't to screw up ur machine or anybody elses as I said I've used this solution many times however what I've should gave is the disclaimer to backup ur registry before u make mods so u can revert back in case. Also the ony other thing I can think of is that this solution was for Windows XP using registry editior 5, I'm noticing that the title of this thread is Windows 7. -
Hello,
I have problem to install Adobe 9 on two Terminal Server.
Windows 2003 French R2 SP2 with Office 2003 and all Microsoft Updates.
Previous version of Adobe Reader was 8.1.3.
When I install Adobe Reader 9, I have this error message (translated from french):
"Program have not enough rights to access folder: c:\document and settings\all users\application data\adobe\acrobat\9.0. Impossible to install.
Open an administrator session or contact your system administrator."
Of course I'm Domain Admin. And I have access to the folder.
I have try to manually create the folder 9.0 in c:\document and settings\all users\application data\adobe\acrobat\ and it gives me the error:
"Error when creating the folder "c:\document and settings\all users\application data\adobe\acrobat\".
I test with an other admin account, and with the "run as" command, same problem.
I have test Adobe Reader 9 in english: same error:
"Error 1303. This instsaller has insufficient privileges to access this directory: c:\document and settings\all users\application data\adobe\acrobat\9.0. The installation cannot continue.
Log on as an administrator or contact your System administrator."
It's very strange because now, I cannot reinstall Adobe Reader 8.1.3, or 7.1.0. Nothing happen when I click on the icon.
I never have trouble on those servers to install/uninstall applications. And never have trouble to install Adobe 9.
Any idea? I will make some searches about the #1303 error.
ThanksI have try this solution for the same error for other Adobe products:
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb405850
http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=332541
Ok, it works.
I have to apply full rights on folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\application data\adobe for the local admin group, and not the domain admin, and it works. :)

Hi,
starting a couple of weeks ago, we get the following error(s) when running applications from a network share. We don't know what causes this, we are not aware of any major changes in our network infrastructure or client/Server configuration. We did upgrade
a lot of machines to Windows 8, but the issue also occurs on older Win7 computers.
We figured out a workaround though: The applications run fine when launching from a FQDN share (like
\\share.domain.Company.com) and only cause problems when running from
\\share directly. They have worked fine for years without FQDN though.
Any ideas?

It sounds like a DNS suffix issue. When this issue occurs, please try to ping share on the client, then check if the corresponding IP address is correct. If the IP address is wrong, please adjust your settings of DNS to make sure that the client can resolve
the share correctly.
If it's very hard to change the settings of the DNS for some reason, as a work around, we can add the entry into the clients' hosts file.
