IE5.5 won't run Java

I suppose I should attempt a repair, but does anyone know why Java simply does not run on IE sometimes? Ever since I installed W2K a couple of months ago, Internet Explorer has not been able to run ANY Java applets (like AOL AIM Express). I just get a blank box where the applets should be. Is downloading J2RE 1.4.1 my only option?

Se if the MS Java virtual machine is present and activated. (Look for a file named java.exe; if it's a Microsoft file, probably your jvm is not enabled.)

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • Java apps won't run, Java preferences won't launch

Since the flurry of 2012 updates, Java is completely broken on my Mac Pro.  Java dependent apps don't start and Apple Support says to enable the apps in Java Preferences.
Nice idea, but Java Preferences WILL NOT LAUNCH either.
There were plenty of tools to address flashback and they DID NOT break normal day to day operations.
I downloaded the package from support to try a reinstallation, but it says "A newer version of Java is already installed" and offers me the option to Close.  No reinstall, nothing.
Apple support is at it's usual level of service on this issue, completely INVISIBLE.
What has happened to the Apple I used to know?  If any of the smart folks on this forum have a working solution, please share.  Deleting preferences doesn't do squat btw.
    Thank you.

  • Network diagnostic tool won't run

Thought I'd run the NDT to see if if could tell me why my upload speed was 25 Mbps on a 75/75 connection.  It just says testing in progress and has 4 steps that say not started.  Nothing ever changes.  There is a mention of a Java applet however I never got prompted for installation of such an item.  Is that the issue??
Or is it possibly because the Verizon router isn't the gateway router to the network that the PC is on?

Yes, the issue is apparently Java.  More specifically Java and Chrome, according to the Oracle site Chrome won't run Java any more, at least that is what it said when I tried to update Java to 8 v45.  Update it in IE and NDT still wouldn't run in Chrome but runs OK in IE.
My upload speed looks even worse today, apparently am now 78/5
The top line of the web 110 detailed analysis is odd - 10Mbps Ethernet Link found
I'm guessing my upload issue is this
This connection is receiver limited 4.14% of the time.
This connection is sender limited 93.26% of the time.
Anybody know what sender limited means?

  • Java applets won't run on Safari???

I have reinstalled Java twice, and it still won't run any Java applets. It just sits there with the cup logo and the arrow on either side. It works fine on Firefox but not Safari. Help?

    Hello
I'm piggy backing on this thread because I too have had problems with Java and Safari
Java runs fine for me in Firefox, however.
I went to a federal website
    https://blrscr3.egs-seg.gc.ca/gol-ged/gov/browserdetection/BrowserCheck.html
that uses java and received this message
" Java applet unable to load
To use this service, you must either install a recent version of the Sun JVM or enable "Scripting of Java applets" if it has been disabled."
so i looked for an update and have downloaded and installed release 6, (at least, it said that it was installed, but have never been able to figure out where)
when I check Java preferences, the choices are J2SE 1.4.2 or J2SE 5, and when I've switched to 1.4.2 I still have no luck.
When i run firefox, i get the java console opening, but it doesn't open with safari, and I can't find the option for this to turn on in safari
i have restarted both safari and my computer and no luck. I have repaired permissions and no changes have taken place.
    Any more suggestions?
    (thank you, by the way)

All you need to do is make certain it's enabled in both Java Preferences (found in /Applications/Utilities/) and in your browser preferences.

  • My accounts program won't run without legacy Java SE6 runtime since I upgraded to OS x Yosemite but I can't download it

My "Solar" accounts program won't run without "legacy Java SE6 runtime" since I upgraded my iMac desktop to OS x Yosemite but I can't download it, nothing happens when you click on the link to apple support

Okay, I'm not a Genius, but, I'm smarter than the one I spoke to at the Apple Store. They told me that they couldn't help me with Legacy Java SE6 Runtime. Adobe has the worst support in the industry so don't call them.
If you have a Time Machine backup, go to one that pre dates your install of Yosemite. Go to the System/Library/Java and drag copy the folder to your internal hard disk. Now you will need the Administrator password. Once copied, drag the old Java folder into your System/Library folder and when asked to replace, click OK. Restart your Mac and you will have use of your software that requires Legacy Java SE6 Runtime.
I'm totally done with Apple since they are trying to box me into a corner. Have fun kids.

  • Java won't run after latest update

I just installed the latest update for Mountain Lion and now my java won't run.  I have tried all of the hints from Java's site and am stumped.

This explains why. You need to download the latest Java from Oracle's site.

  • Java JDK 7 u17 won't install and Eclipse won't run past boot logo.

Java JDK 7 u17 won't install and Eclipse won't run past boot logo. Eclipse Classic used to work fine for awhile. I haven't used it for a month or two and tried to boot it, Eclipse won't run past boot logo. It looks like JDK is not even there anymore. JDK won't install successfully. I have Mac OS X 10.8.3.
I tried removing Java, re-download JDK multiple times.. same results.

Paul Adare is correct in saying that you cannot "upgrade" from 32-bit to 64-bit. You can, however, backup your files and reload them onto your PC.
Given that you are able to boot Windows 7 after the failure to install Windows 10 Technical Preview, it is apparent that you are not formatting the drive during your clean installation. There are a number of potential issues an existing configuration can
cause, such as preventing Windows Setup from registering boot files, modifying partitions, or moving an existing installation and data to the windows.old folder. I would recommend removing the partitions from your drive (note: this will erase any data remaining
on the hard disk) during installation to ensure that Windows Setup has a fresh hard drive to install to. If you continue to experience errors, two other factors to take into consideration are:
Does your system use a storage controller that requires loading a driver during Windows Setup?
Is the hardware malfunctioning? Do the hard disk and memory pass testing software like Windows Memory Diagnostic or chkdsk?

  • Java runtime environement won't run

I have a Lenovo T430 Thinkpad.  I have Java (7u67) installed.  The applet will run through the browser (firefox), but JRE won't run through the command line.  I have a program that uses Java, but that program won't run because JRE won't run.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck.  I'm running Windows 7 enterprise.  Any help would be appreciated.

    ic, thanks for the clarification.
In my classpath, I didn't include the path to java's core classes/packages (java.awt, javax.swing, etc.), how would it know?

It complains that nttp is not found. I guess it knows where the core java classes but beside those, I need to include any other packages/classes within the jar file itself?

  • Freemind won't run after install, can't find Java

    Hi,
I attempted to install freemind using the following command:
    pacman -S freemind
It installed along with the relevant Java dependency.
When I try to run freemind I get the following error:

    I get the following error:

    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClassInternal(ClassLoader.java:320)
Could not find the main class: freemind.jar. Program will exit.
Any help would be much appreciated

I can run Freemind - no problem. I have (previously) installed Java using jdk package
    There are two possible problems:
    1) Program's execute file is /usr/share/freemind/freemind.sh - it's shell script, so you will have to run it from terminal using command
    bash /usr/share/freemind/freemind.sh (it's how I ran it)
Remember - you can't (usually) run Java programs from *.jar files, because Java has to have declared some variables first (that's what that shell script  is for - Windows are using their typical exe files for running Java programs )
    2) You don't have correct Java. There are two types of Java: opensource (openjdk) and "original" Java from Sun. openjdk is (fully) opensource, but lacks some of Sun's Java features, but because it's opensource, it's generally favourized (hope that it's the correct word) in Linux and Java-dependent packages in Arch usually installs that.
Try uninstall both Freemind and whatever Java you are using now and install first java from Sun (packages jre and jdk, jdk is mostly for Java developers and should not be needed to run programs) and then install Freemind.
Edit: It's possible that you will need to restart computer after installing Java (but probably not)

  • EJB 3.0 App won't run on OAS 10.1.3.1 AIX5L

    Hi All,
I'm developing Application with Struts + JSP + EJB3.0 with JDev 10.1.3. It runs well on embedded OC4J with JDev. And it runs well also on Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1 + Windows XP Prof. But when I deployed it on Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1 + IBM AIX 5L which is my production environment, the application won't run.
I try to narrowing down the problem, so I create a simple EJB3.0 Application. It consist of 1 Entity from Table (JPA/EJB3.0) and the entity has queryFindAll() method. One simple Facade Session Bean EJB invoke it. 1 JSP file call a class that do the context lookup to SessionBean EJB.
This simple application runs well on both platform, i.e Windows XP Prof and IBM AIX 5L.
But when I try to create an application that has complex relationship, i.e has relation many-to-many and one-to-many, the application wont run on OAS 10.1.3.1 on IBM AIX5L. Instead, it runs well on OAS 10.1.3.1 on Windows XP Prof.
this is the error messages in log.xml from OAS 10.1.3.1 on IBM AIX5L:
    [SessionEJB:public java.util.List tintin.model.SessionEJBBean.queryBiOfficesFindAll()] exception occurred during method invocation: oracle.oc4j.rmi.OracleRemoteException:

This loader has been closed and should not be in use.
What could be the root cause of these errors? I've tried to compared all components that are installed on WinXP box and AIX5L. I can't find any clue of it.
Could someone please help me? Thanks...

I found Error Code for TOPLINK here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/doc/10131/main/_html/errcode007.htm
but it is strange, that my error exception is TOPLINK-7158:
    7158: ERROR_PROCESSING_NAMED_QUERY_ANNOTATION
Cause: Error encountered when building the @NamedQuery annotation from entity class ClassName.
Action: Ensure the correctness of the annotation specification.
how come that error only occured in OAS 10.1.3.1 on AIX 5L, but it didn't occur in OAS 10.1.3.1 on Windows XP Pro?
Is it really the root cause or OAS throws wrong exception code? Could someone from Oracle help me please?

  • Cannot open MSWord while running java application

    Hi everyone
I'm not sure if anyone has encountered this problem before.. I'm running a java application under Windows NT and when I try to open an office document it won't run until that java application has been shutdown. I don't even get an error message for this. Nothing happens at all until the application is shutdown and then MSWord just opens as if nothing had ever happened.
Anyone have any ideas as to what this problem might be?

    As a guess.....
    1. Run a "hello world" java application. Use task manager and take a snap shot of the processes window.
    2. Run nothing else but the java application. Use task manager and take a snap shot of the processes window.
    3. Compare the two and eliminate any that are the same.
    4. Run nothing else but word. Use task manager and take a snap shot of the processes window.
    5. Compare it with 3. Note the ones that appear both times.
    6. Run the java application - use task manager to kill what you found in 5. Run word.
Step 6 will probably cause the java app to fail in some odd way. But now you know why it doesn't work.
Of course if nothing is the same in 5 above then that would be odd.
