IE6 on XP malfunctioning after Java 2 SE v1.4.0_01

Okay, here goes. Please bear with my ignorance.
Java 2 Runtime Environ, SE v1.4.0_01 was accidentally installed on my DELL XP, when v2-something was already installed. Well, at first it caused my browser, IE6.0.2600.etc. to simply shut down when accessing a webpage with java script. So I unintalled, and I believe it was in this order, the v.2 first and could not at first uninstall v.4. Finally, after reinstalling and uninstalling (as the uninstall .dll wasn't functioning), and installing Microsoft virtual java machine (per a tech-head's suggestion) the browser has now returned to semi-normal operation.
I now get many scripting errors on various pages, causing inoperative links and many links (apparently java written) seem to be only a 'one-shot deal'. In other words, on webpages that have a clickable link, most times I have to refresh the page in order for it to work. Then I come to find out that my Windows Media Player 8 won't work properly either.
After doing a restore to a point prior to the initial v.4 install (with no success) and an attempt at uninstalling and re-intalling IE6 (right!) I have spoken to DELL tech support (as Microsoft will not directly support an OEM without a fee) and they want to do an XP re-install!
I'd really like to avoid this, if possible, as I have done various tweeks to XP, and since it was one the Java products that caused this problem I was hoping someone out there could help me.

Seriously doubt that much can be done. The original install of the SDK was probably fixable, but with all the subsequent activity... If you want to live with the problems while you work on clearing them, there's a slight chance that you'll be successful. How old is the system - sounds fairly new - do you have a "few" things installed or a "ton"? Dell stores an image of the original software on the hd and has a painless way to restore to the "as shipped" condition ( I speak from experience, I did it, worked like a charm) Hard to say what to do, I'm glad I opted to chuck the mess and start over (my problem came from a really fouled up web server installation)

Issue with Default Variable in WAD after Java Patch 7.01.7.31

Hello all,
I'm running into an issue with the Web Application Designer Template execution for a particular default variable. This started occuring after Java Patch 7.01.7.31 we had implented over the weekend.
The issue is when Executing the WAD Template, we have a selection screen with a variable with default values assigned to it. When leaving the default values and hitting Ok to execute through the screen does not register and stays as is and I get a message at the top with the following: Characteristic Prob % Number has no master data for "1.00" or you do not have authorization.
This only seems to occur for this default variable on info object Prob % Number, the other default variables seem to work fine. Also another note when clearing out the values it returns data and executes through. The value 1.00 is also a valid value in the cube and also in the output display. If we run this report in the BEx analyzer, the selection screen executes through with the default variable perfectly fine, this is only an issue with the Web Application Designer Template.
Has anyone ran into this? I've searched and have not found any notes as of yet.

Using ML 10.8.1 and Safair 6.0
After Java patch 1.7.0_07 ENable applet plug-in and Web start checkbox is gone! The check box to enable Safari to load Java pages is 100% gone, missing, just not there anymore.
When I go to the Java test page it shows that I have Java 7 loaded. Has anyone else run into this problem or have a solution to enable true load loading in Safari and bring back the Enable applet plug-in and Web Start application check box in ML...

I found out something very interesting. I noticed that another page would show up for less than have a second before the ML Java Preference would show up. I did a video recording of this and moved frame by frame. I show that the page / pane showing up had the following option:
Run applets: in their own process
within their browser process
Both boxes for the two are unchecked.
Then this page would disappear and nother would show up without the option / check box
Enable applet plugin and Web Start applications

HTC Incredible 2 malfunction after recent S/W update

So my phone started malfunctioning after a recent OTA update. The first thing that happened was the picture IDs for all my contacts would not display in messaging. Not a big problem but is something that I like. Shortly after that the internet would work but would also frequently disconnect from the mobile network. Then it got to the point to where I could not send messages unless I reset the phone over and over. That was the breaking point so I called and received a CLNR. This phone had no service at all and after a long call with tech support they decided to send me another one. Thankfully this one works fine except the picture IDs still do not show up in messaging although they do show up in my contact list. Like I said this is not a big deal and does not affect the functioning of the phone but it is a feature I would like to have working. I was curious if anyone else has had this problem after the update? According to Verizon they told me there were no known problems and they were unsure why that was happening. I know it wasn't just my device since I received another one that does the same thing(my current device also has the recent update and I was unable to reverse it even by doing a factory reset).

Don't drive yourself crazy trying to find a fix for this one! You're completely right in your observations. This has been confirmed as an issue, and it will be fixed in a future software update. I don't have an ETA for the software to be available, but I did want you to know that we are aware of the issue an we're working on a fix. Something went wrong in the new software update that prevents the picture from syncing with the messaging app.
Please feel free to download a 3rd party messaging application that has this functionality while we incorporate the fix. Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Portege R700 - after Java update UMTS/3G is not found

Portege R700 Win 7 Prof.Pro x64.
After updating from java 6u20 to 6u23 the wireless manager isn't able to find the UMTS/3G device. Afterswitching back to pref system recovery point, the UMTS/3G device was detected by the wireless manager correctly and everthing works fine, but the recovered java 6u20 doesn't work in the system and even in the browser (ff 3.6.13 32bit).
What can I do to get back correct function?

What does this mean exactly? Do you get an error message?
Maybe you have to update the 3G driver with new Java version. Have you already tried that?

Login issue in R12 after Java Upgrade

Hello All,
After upgarding Java on Application server to JDK7, I am not able to go past the logon screen of oracle application in R12 using the IE-8 web browser, got with below error, whereas i am able to work as usual in Firefox web browser, also found that some others are able to access applications including forms who are having smillar system configuration as that of mine, like OS, IE version.

IPhone 4 total malfunction after iOS 5.1.1 update

I updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1.1 on Friday, it worked normally for about 24 hours, and now all of a sudden it is completely unusable. If I press the home button absolutely nothing happens. But if I plug it into the charger and then press the home button, the white apple appears, and it boots to the grey screen that you get with a brand new phone. When I then swipe the slider I am asked for a passcode, so I enter the one I used when the phone was working normally. I then get the screen that says to connect to iTunes. Problem is that I'm traveling and so for the moment cannot connect to my iMac at home. (I have a PowerPC G4 laptop with me that can't go beyond OS 10.4 and iTunes 9.1.1.) Can anyone shed any light on this? Is there anything I can do now or do I have to wait until I return home? Or is the phone totally toast or what? I've read some stuff about SIM cards being corrupted with this update. Would a new one restore the whole phone?

Exact same thing happened to my Iphone 4 on August 4th (366th day of 1 Year Warranty). When connecting to ITunes, Restore fails and a message pops up in Itunes stating that "There is a problem with your IPhone" and directs you to Customer Support. I took the phone to Apple Store, the Geeks there experienced the same problem and were unable to resolve. They suggested that the phone needed to be replaced at cost of $159.99 eventhough it started to malfunction 1 day after warranty expired. Endless amount of pleading/arguing failed to sway them into giving me a free replacement. Phne still not working. Would changing the SIM help?

Some pages don't render properly after Java update for OSX 10.6.8

I can't seem to get T-mobile.com's website pages to render properly anymore. So far, this is the only website I'm having this issue with, though there could be more I'm not aware of.
I go to www.t-mobile.com and this is what I get:
I think I might be missing a plug-in, but not sure; if so, I don't know which one or how to get it.
This only started happening after the latest Java update for OSX 10.6.8, which I installed on Feb. 24, 2013. All of T-mobile's pages look like this, except if I go to www.my.t-mobile.com's home page. Then I get a normal page, but after I log in, I get more wierd rendering issues again. So here's the page that appeared normal today:

I was so lost but then I decided to try a work around to get my online bill and managed to get it, but I don't want to see the pages like this. So help please?

So, here's more on my point...
I put in the 3 captured screen shots in my original post above. I used Grab to copy the web pages, saved them to my desktop as .tiff files and dropped them in for others to view. This morning, I went to look at my post and instead of seeing the screen shots, I see 3 tiny blue boxes with question marks. When I left click on the boxes, nothing happens. When I right click on them, I get options that are not helpful:

I checked my Safari Preferences and I see I have checked, under Security, Enable plug-ins, Enable Java, Enable JavaScript.I have to have Java enabled to run a few things.
Did something get corrupted in Safari?
Am I'm missing some plug-ins?
How do I get them back?
I'm going to search the internet. Well, after doing the search, I still don't think I've got what I need. Thinking I might need to reinstall Safari. If this is the case, will I loose all my Bookmarks?

Java broken in Firefox after Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 3

After having updated my mac this morning with the latest Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 3, Java in Firefox is no longer working. When I open a site that contains a java applet (like javatester.org) I get the following output in the Console, and then Firefox hangs.

Problem solved!
For some reason I had an additional "Java" Folder (/Library/Java) with a different Java sdk. After removing this folder and (just to be sure) replacing it with a symlink to /System/Library/Java everyting works again.

Applet does not start after Java 1.5 installation

Hi,
When I go to my webpage where I have an applet that requires Java 1.5..the browsers are prompting for Java installation (ActiveX component install on IE or Firefox plugin for JRE installation). But once the Java install completes the applet does not start automatically. The same code used to work nicely with Java 1.4. The applet used to automatically start and run once the JRE install completed. But with JRE 1.5 it does not start. If I do a refresh on the browser it again prompts for java installation. If open new browser window and go to the URL the applet starts. Please let me know how to get the applet to start automatically after JRE 1.5 installation.

Recently I have done system copy for XI system. I have imported the java import after importing the abap stack into the target system as java add in abap.The import phase finished successfully and java engine is also working well.

Query Functionalities affected after Java patch application 20

Hi ,
We applied Java Patch 20 to our Development System.After this application we are getting Error in running the Bookmarks,error while creating complex formula and the functionalities like Back to Start,Back one Navigational Step are not working properly in BI 7.0 Queries.

We have run with this patch for a long time now and have never encountered an issue like this.
Are you using JInitiator or the Java Plugin (recommended)?
Have you tried clearing the JAR cache on the client? Your FMB's also might be corrupted somehow - have you tried rebuilding them on a Developer Suite with the exact same patch level as the Application Server?
You could also try the new super-merge patch 7703734, which supersedes the previous super-merge 7482020, and see if that helps in any way.
If that doesn't help, you should log an SR on Metalink and get Support to help you solving this.

Pictures in Scrolling Applet disappeared after Java 10 update.

My home page on my website; [http://mrpitbull.com] has a scrolling applet
that contains several pictures. After a Java update (10) a few months back, the
pictures disappeared. Any computer that has not had the update, the pictures
still appear. I rolled back the update on my system to 9 and got the pictures
back. I figured that whatever problem I was experiencing, others would too,
and a fix would be forthcoming. After a number of months, it is time to
seek some help. Hopefully, someone is familiar with the issue and has a
