IE7 Embedding problems

I embedded the code onto a website, and I get the following
error
"Could not access file. The file may have been deleted by the
owner or you do not have permission to access it."
The problem is that this error only happens on IE, I have
tried accessing the same website from multiple computers using
FireFox, and it loads just fine.
All the computers in which this error has been happening have
been updated with the latest Flash revision (9,0,124,0).
What could be causing the problem?

ok, nevermind, for some reason, it stopped working after a
while.
I still don't understand what might be causing it, I can see
it in other browsers (Firefox, Opera and Safari) but I still can't
see it on Internet Explorer.
Is there some bug? has there been anybody else also
complaining about this problem?

Font embedding problem PPT plugin Acrobat 9 Pro

Hi,
having just updated to Acrobat 9 Pro I encounter a font embedding problem when using the PowerPoint plugin (PPT2007) to create a PDF of my presentation. I am working under Windows 7 (64Bit) and use fonts from Mathematica (Wolfram). The generated PDF shows problems displaying the fonts, indicating that they have not been embedded (although font embedding of these fonts is set in the options). The problem does not occur if I directly print to the PDF printer - here all Mathematica fonts are correctly embedded (but this has other disadvantages since videos/animations are not integrated). The problem seems to be specific to Acrobat 9 since under Acrobat 8 everything worked correctly as well.
Any ideas/solutions for that issue?

Perhaps you may need to upgrade to version 9.2 (Acrobat support of Windows 7 begins at this dot release)?

Dreamweaver CS3 Scripting Youtube embedding Problems

I use embeds from youtube on my site. They are usually no
problem. Today I
upgraded from Dreamweaver 8 to CS3. When saving my files and
uploading to the host, CS3
created two scripts that it said were necessary for
standards-based sites and
applications:
AC_Activex.js
AC_Runactivecontent.js
CS3 indicated that they must be uploaded in "Scripts" folder
to host. Now all my
embeds show up as a red x in IE7. Oddly enough they work in
Monzilla. Sounds like a version problem doesn't it? Although of
course my host (Bluehost) says it ain't their problem.

From the looks of your code you were embedding Youtube links
as if they were Flash. However, while they are Flash, Youtube has
its own system for embedding. I believe Youtube does provide you
with code to do this. However, this plugin should do it all for you
from within Dreamweaver.

Font embedding problem when re-saving pdfs in Preview

I love the new features in Preview. Especially, being able to reshuffle pages and to be able to add and delete pages to documents, and the improved annotation features.
This is what I did and encountered this problem. I have a pdf that I annotated and added pages to.
I re-saved the document under a different name. On Leopard, and also on a Tiger computer, the document looks fine.
I sent it to a client on a PC and the PC complains with this re-saved document that it "Cannot extract the embedded font 'HEMGNF+Sabon Italic'. Some characters may display incorrectly." This cryptic 6-letter name of the font can change by the way, in these PC-messages.
This only happens when I re-save the document in Preview.
Anybody else who's had this?

Update: Reader 8 on a PC displays everything fine, so it's a matter of updating

Font embedding problem in PDFs

Since upgrading to Leopard from Tiger-
We are losing fonts embedded into pdfs, either saved through Preview or Adobe Indesign CS3.
The preview of pdfs, both in the finder windows and in Entourage email attachments are missing fonts too. Sometimes opening them resolves the issue, but not usually.
This has occured to both User and System level fonts.
We have cleaned the font caches, but this only provides a temporary fix.
We have tried not using our Suitcase Fusion and just letting FontBook manage the fonts on this machine, the problem still manifests itself.
The only change in the equation from a perfectly operational machine was the change from Tiger to leopard.
Any thoughts/help = greatly appreciated.

Font embedding problem when exporting to PDF

I'm trying to export a 100-page catalog from InDesign CS4 to PDF. I've used Lucida Sans Regular throughout as body text. When I go to export, it says that this font can't be embedded due to licensing restrictions in the font. Thoughts? I've exported this catalog to PDF many times as changes get made and I update it regularly throughout the year, and I've never had a problem with this font (or any for that matter!)

It might have been more appropriate to post in response to you, Emily. At the bottom of my post is a solution you can use, but it involves changing the font in the final product. I also like Lucida Sans, and I've had this exact problem that I never experienced before the upgrade to CS4. Unfortunately, the problem is not limited to Lucida Sans.
I see you posted the original question back in August. I hope this is some help to you at this late date.

Flash & IE7 Weird Problem

Help!!!
I'm having a problems getting a site to work in IE7. It works
fine in Firefox, but in IE7, not a chance.

Once in the site, go to the Gallery. Click on any of the two
thumbnails on the left. A window will open with a short blurb and a
choice of 2 or 3 links. Select the slideshow. The slideshow will
load up and start fine. Close the window and click the other
thumbnail. It won't load up (To be clear here, both the thumbnails
have an "on release" javascript in them), Nothing! Click on any of
the other links on the top... About, Contact, etc. They won't load
up either. As a matter of fact, you won't even be able to refresh
the page. This does't happen in FireFox. It works beautifully
there, just as it should.
Is there a fix for this IE7 Problem? Is it a simple
JavaScript that I need?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

LiveCycle Designer 8: Font embedding problem

I use LiveCycle Designer 8 to create a form, but it doesn't wanna embed various fonts. Favorite font to use would be the Meta Font (Type 1 or TTF), but neither gets embedded.
Is this a bug or a restriction of the font itself?
Is there a solution to this problem?
Wish things would be working out as with the Distiller...sigh.

Hi Debra,
To correct this 'feature', go in Form Properties > Defaults tab, set the Preserve Scripting Changes To Form When Saved option to Automatically.
To correctly using Designer 7.x, youll have to write some script to achieve the same result. Currently, you have a script setting the fields state. All you need is to run the same script when the form is opened. In the example below, a form:ready script will execute the change event script when the form is opened. You can use the docReady event as well.
For example:
RadioButtonList: change event
if (this.rawValue == "1")
TextField1.presence = "visible";
else
TextField1.presence = "invisible";
RadioButtonList: form:ready event
this.execEvent("change");

Powerpoint embedding problems

Hi,
I'm currently having problems embedding a flash movie into a
powerpoint presentation, using steps similar to the ones set out at
this link:

The flash movie will play perfectly until the presentation is
saved & re-opened. When this is done the slide the movie is on
displays nothing but a white screen, although if you right click
while viewing it the normal flash options display. Does anyone know
why this is happening or better yet, a solution for it?

Quicktime embedding problem

I always hated doing site upgrades when the original site was
done by someone else. But sometimes I gotta bite the bullet, case
in point as I'm so frustrated and now turn to the DW gods for help!

problem - if you click on the Demo Reel the page comes up but
no QT video
the seond link works fine the other links work
I redid the embedding and the link works on both the local
and remote files (preview in Browser) but son as I go to open the
page from the url the QT movie is not there. It has to be the
embedding as the other linked pages to that QT show the page but no
QT as well. There are 4 links on the page the only one working is
the second link, the 1st 3rd and 4th were never finished by the
person who originally did the site, I'm in DW CS3
Anyway I have included the html in the page with the bum link
that works under the condtions I mentioned, can anybody tell me
what the problem is here?

Any chance of moving to Flash instead of QT?

Youtube embedding problems

Hello, I am having problems when embedding a youtube video into my website.
I put the embed code in the place I want it, and all seems fine before I preview in Dreamweaver (I previewed in all major browsers and had the same problem)
Once I hit the preview button my browser pops up and takes an extraordinarily long time to load. Minutes compared to the seconds it took before the code was inserted into my webpage. Then once it has finally loaded, I get a big white box rather than an actual youtube video. I am very confused as I can see no reason for this problem.
I have tried both the new and old embed codes and it still gives me this white box. Any help would be useful.

I find that by adding width, height, frameborder and allowfullscreen, the Validator arcs up. Use CSS instead.

Odd Flash Embedding Problem

I am using Flash with SlideShowPro (component) installed, no
actionscript.
My XML file and my images are in a sub folder. The Flash is
not working. I copied the swf into the subfolder the XML is in.
When I open the root level page which has the flash embedded on it,
it pulls up the flash SWF, but does not recognize the xml file
that's in the sub directory. It tries to get an XML file from the
root level, instead.
If I run a page from the subdirectory, it works correctly,
which tells me that the XML file is properly configured when
sitting in that directory.
What do I have to do with the embed statements (or anything
else) to make sure it takes the XML file that is in the same
subdirectory as the swf file, rather than trying to find an xml
file on the root level?
I don't think I can have the swf on the root level, because
it asks for an XML file and there are many different subfolders for
which this has to work. If there is a way, I'd be glad to hear of
it.
The subfolders are all dynamically created, so I can't
preconfigure with separate names for the swf or xml files. At time
of dynamic subfolder creation, I copy in the SWF file and the XML
file is created into that folder.

I'm really desperate for help here.
My problem lies that I'm trying to use a dynamic situation
and PHP.
The PHP creates a folder in images/pictures, copies the swf
file into it, and creates an XML file in it...so, we'll use the
example of 10.
So now we have the houseInfo.php page on the root level with
the swf on it, and the images, actual swf file, and xml sheet are
in images/pictures/10
(remember, it's dynamic. So the number could be 14 or
24...depending on which houseID is in the database)
I can't use a php statement in flash, so I can't make the
flash dynamically grab the correct xml sheet from
images/pictures/10...
So I tried using this method:

By this method, the SlideShowPro doesn't have an xml file
path declared in the component, but rather I have this in the
actionscript:

Embedding problems in Illustrator CS6

Hi I am having a very strange problem in illustrator and I can't work out what is wrong.
Before in a previous version when I embedded a barcode into an .ai file the barcode was fine but now in my new CS6 the stroke sizes go "mad" and resize?
Is there some sort of setting I am not selecting? I need to embed ALL images / barcodes into the packaging design as I need to send it to china for printing. (and create outlines - but can't do this until the barcode has first been embedded)

Hi I do the following, which always works for me now:
Select - Edit - preferences - general - tick the "scale strokes and effects" - make sure this is on
File - place - and then just by unclicking the "link" box before I place the barcode image, it brings it in already embedded and then i can resize it and outline as normal.

IE7 CSS Problems

IE7: styling missing from header, footer and central column;
central column alignment out of wack with relation to left nav and
too close to footer.
Is the problem mine or IE's? Either way, what do I have to do
to fix it?

The problem is with the way you are defining and naming your
