IE7-Firefox viewing differences

http://www.circl.pitt.edu/newsletter/2008-1/more_safar_center.html
In IE there are spaces around the images which I put in under
V space and H space in Dreamweaver 8.
Those spaces do not show in Firefox.
Does anyone know how to add spaces in with firefox, or do I
have to do it in html?

Start by running through and fixing these errors -

  • Flash and IE7 & Firefox ~ Display PROBLEM!!!

    Hi Everybody,
    Hope some one can help:
    Recently, in IE7 and Firefox, I noticed my Flash SWF files
    which had black Bkgrnds [ya know, on the stage] didn't show as
    "black" but as a white or "no" color.
    Yesterday [11/28/07], Firefox did an update to version
    2.0.0.10 and the problem was resolved, temporarily. IE7 [ver.
    7.0.5730.11 w/no update versions to download].
    Here is the URL:
    http://www.bowzerbird.com/
    This is my home page: the bkgrnd of the SWF should be a dark
    blue but is white[ish?]
    http://www.bowzerbird.com/index2.html
    [The SWF on this page should have a black bkgrnd]
    I just checked in Firefox, and it's not right either. Just a
    few moments ago [yesterday], it was perfect and now, say 10 minutes
    later, the bkgrnds are "weird." I think I'm in the Twilight Zone.
    I created several SWF's for my site in Flash versions
    5-MX2004. Sorry I'm still behind the times. Can't afford the
    upgrade right now.
    PLEASE HELP ME!! WHAH!!!
    Does ANYONE know what is going on?
    PS ... Just tried an experiment! From Dreamweaver, I opened the
    HTML files in IE7 and Firefox, AND the pages display correctly!
    From my hard drive displayed from Dreamweaver in the browsers, the
    SWF files look perfect. So, why when they are viewed from the web
    [cable connected], do they display a light background color instead
    of the intended black background color???
    Ellen

    Hi Robert,
    Thanks but still have a question: Why up until just say, two
    weeks ago [that's when I checked my web site, approx.] did the
    Flash SWF files display correctly: ie. with the black background
    and now display with a "white" or no background?
    Also, like I said in the previous post, why when I "preview
    in browser" from Dreamweaver does the SWF file preview correctly
    with the black bkgrnd BUT when viewed on the Net when I'm
    connected, does it display incorrectly??
    Are the updated browsers [IE7 & Firefox] problematic?
    Could it be something in the "internet options" that needs to be
    corrected?
    Also, what did you mean by: "One of the best ways to put
    Flash on a web page is SWFObject. You can download the free
    JavaScript library for SWFObject here:"
    What is "SFWObject" and what does it do? Why did my Flash SWF
    files display fine just two weeks ago and not today.
    PLEASE HELP! I just don't get it and I thought I was soooo
    computer savy!! Oh, BTW, when I created the SWF files originally,
    in Flash I simply set the bkgrnd for the stage to be black:
    #000000!!

  • View differences in firefox + IE

    All my pages look great, and centered, in firefox, but in IE
    there is always a large empty area on the right side, as if the
    page is centering left. Is there a simple answer to this? Or a
    tutorial you can recomend?

    You need to send a link to the page.

  • After updating IE7, Firefox 3.6 no longer store history--back button in Firefox can't access previous pages.

    Yesterday a security update for IE7 was automatically downloaded into my computer. Now the history feature of Firefox is working poorly. Often it doesn't save previous pages for the back button to access during an online session. The few times I've been able to navigate back to a Google search page, the search terms I've used previously are absent. However most often today, the browser doesn't even acknowledge that there were previous pages and the back button remains grayed out.

    I got an email saying that Cor-el had posted a reply to my question. I don't see it on this page. Was it deleted?

  • IE7/Firefox keep looping in CS3 (ignores AS3 cmds)

    I created an index.html and index.swf and placed them with
    the AC_Runactivecontent.js on the server after they worked fine
    locally. Now they run fine on the latest Opera and IE6, but with
    Firefox (1.5 and 2) and IE7 (WinXp) the flash keeps looping forever
    and I cannot touch any of the buttons or controls (also seems to
    ignore the AS3 commands including stop();) ?! Please help as I am
    new to Flash and CS3 especially. Oh, and it also runs fine on
    Vista's IE7
    You can check the results at
    www.alifcc.com
    I'm using the UIScrollBar component, and following is the
    actionscript used:
    stop();
    function oncontactClick(evt:MouseEvent):void {
    gotoAndStop("contact");
    function onaboutClick(evt:MouseEvent):void {
    gotoAndStop("about");
    function onsolutionsClick(evt:MouseEvent):void {
    gotoAndStop("solutions");
    function onclientsClick(evt:MouseEvent):void {
    gotoAndStop("clients");
    contact_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,oncontactClick);
    about_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,onaboutClick);
    solutions_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,onsolutionsClick);
    clients_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,onclientsClick);

    It turned out to be because of a conflict with the Real
    Player 11 Beta plugin.

  • Cant play Quicktime files in IE7/Firefox After upgrading to Quicktime 7.5.5

    After upgrading to 7.5.5 I cannot view quicktime files on the apple site using internet explorer 7 or firefox 3.01.
    I've uninstalled/reinstalled/rebooted etc but no change.
    Any clues? am I all alone here?

    Anyone with answers please reply because I am suffering from the same problems after reformatting and reloading OEM software and upgrading to current. I thought she had gotten infected from chain emails because of repeated blue screen shutdowns only to find that Quicktime 7 is causing the conflicts.

  • Spry submenu not showing up on IE6/IE7/firefox

    The Horizontalmenu Spry is working good when I create it as a
    blank html page. But when I created spryheader as a template, the
    submenu is not showing up on hover on IE and firefox. Wonder if its
    a z-index problem.
    Using spry 1.6.1
    Did anybody face the same problem and found a solution?

    Maybe you tweaked something, but it shows up in Firefox 3 and
    IE7 for me. In IE7 though, the menus don't drop straight down, but
    I think that might have to do with the widths you have set for you
    menu items, but not certain.

  • Hierarchy Viewer difference in behaviour between ADF 11.1.1.5 & 11.1.1.6

    Hi All,
    We are having some problems with the Hierarchy Viewer and we were hoping that someone might be able to shed some light on this issue.
    In ADF 11.1.1.5 we have used the attribute displayLevelsChildren which shows how many levels of children would be displayed (if those levels are available of course). We have assigned a value to a select one choice that would set those levels and allow for our user to customise this value and see the levels on right hand side.
    You can see the behaviour that I am referring to in the following demo:
    http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/faces/feature/hv/hvGroupNode.jspx
    I know that this is an 11.1.2, but this has been the same demo for quite a while, when you change the Show Level on the left, the hierarchy viewer gets updated.
    I have created a simple app that illustrates the problem, and when I run it under 11.1.1.5 it performs as expected, while when we run it on 11.1.1.6 it doesn't refresh the levels

    Hi,
    the only change is that 11.1.1.6 supports HTML 5 rendering. So you may want to check if the rendering is in Flash or HTML5. If the rendering is in Flash and the mis-behavior shows then the only suggestion I can give is (in case you have a support contract) to file a service request with customer support

  • Firefox views my web site differently from Chrome or Safari

    When I view my web site as
    https://signature-book.com or
    http://signature-book.com or
    http://www.signature-book.com
    everything looks correct
    But when I view it as
    https://www.signature-book.com
    It views in magnified view
    Chrome and Safari view these versions the same.

    this is not a common bug - your website is already showing to anyone on a 100% zoom level per default. most probably you have mistakenly altered that setting locally while visiting your page in the past (for example by holding the ctrl-key while scrolling)...

  • Div drops down in Firefox, Views fine in IE

    I tried posting this yesterday with no luck.
    www.stainlessrhino.com (I took off the hideous rhino/sound)
    Site views fine in IE - in FF, no matter how I adjust the 3
    divs, the right nav div drops below the other two divs. There is
    plenty of room for all three divs to line up - I've tried adjust
    the Percentages, tried using fixed px and nothing seems to work.
    Any ideas?
    I know the page doesn't validate - 99% of errors are related
    to the shopping cart software I used. I hate that. No way to alter
    it tho.
    Thanks

    Your above posted link isn't working.

  • View differents between 9 & 10

    When I open a PDF in Acrobat 9 the page window will fill my monitor, as if I have hit the little green plus sign for the document window in Acrobat 10. When I open a document in Acrobat 10 the window does not fill the monitor until I click on the little green plus sign in the upper left of the window. I'm on Mac OS Mountain Lion the latest, greatest. I just don't see anywhere in preferences to make the initial document window open as it does in Acrobat 9.

    Since it opens differently in the two versions, the initial view is not set in the document, but in your your Acrobat. Assuming the process is the same as on a PC, go to Edit>preferences>Page Display and set your default. The document properties will override this setting, but it is what you asked about.

  • Firefox / IE differences! (CSS?)

    Hello all:
    I have been staring at my monitor for the last 8 hours
    working on this and I can't figure it out. Long story short, I'm in
    the middle of creating a simple website and what started as a
    simple desire to use a Dreamweaver library for my navigation bar
    has become a full blown mission of being browser compatible. Please
    take a look at the following:
    jasontavarez.com
    On IE it looks the way its supposed to, but on Firefox (at
    least on my computer) the tables used for the navigation bar seem
    to have spread to its max values. I have checked the code and have
    made it WC3 compliant, but I can't find the cause. I'm not even
    using libraries anymore as I try to figure out the problem but to
    no avail. Any help would be appreciated!
    Happy new year!

    In your code for the naviagtion table you have
    cellspacing="#009933"
    ????...... That's enough probably to make a browser go nuts.
    Change it to cellspacing="0"
    Offending piece of code:
    <td height="20" class="bg_navbar_main">
    <table width="200" height="20" border="0" align="right"
    cellpadding="0" cellspacing="#009933" class="menu">

  • Is there a solution to Firefox viewing some pages in about 120 font?

    One of the pages of a local credit union loads incredibly large. I have tried reducing using view, but it still loads in an incredibly large font size, showing only a very small portion of the webpage, but incredibly large. It shows up when trying to access the online statements. I reported it to the credit union, but they had no problems. They are using IE, which I hate. However, when using IE, I have no problems. • Firefox viewing

    My issue is within web browsers on OS X 10.4.8
    Just as a reference as there are other sites that this happens to; as i do alot of graphic and webdesign - im switching from pc to mac systems and wanted to know why it does this as - it doesnt make any sense as firefox i figured is firefox regardless of system. because i do alot of site development and ive noticed alot of incompatibilities among each browser and want to what kind of steps might need ot be taken or if its just a matter among developers?
    Here is the same site captured using just the defaults in each system:
    XP:
    http://www.loudspeakermusic.com/test/firefox2_xp.jpg
    OSX:
    http://www.loudspeakermusic.com/test/firefox2_xp.jpg
    ive tested it across various Apples [G4, G5, Macpro etc] and PCs and it seems macs resolution towards fonts are very incoherent-seems to be either a firefox issue or a OSX issue???
    seems like the OS has a huge FONT issue and its kind of irritating being a graphic and web developer and considering mac pretty much constructed the way for FONTS that you cant have more then a certain amount of fonts without causing system instability -
    thanks in advanced

    The Browser can only reproduce fonts which are installed on the computer. Macs and PCs have always used different font sets - something ignored by web designers working on PCs.
    When writing web pages you should always specify a font-family, and 'serif' or 'sans-serif' after a specific font. i.e "Arial", "sans-serif"> either in-line or in the style sheet.
    Not all PCs have the same font sets, Macs may have different font sets depending on the OS. There are plenty of font collections available if you need more. Furthermore the font size will be interpretted differently - 12pt on a mac is quite small, so always specify font sizes by pixels not points, or use relative sizes.
    In any web design, if you absolutely must use one specific font and size the only way to guarantee it will show up the same across all platforms and browsers is to embed it as a graphic or pdf.
