IE7, Flash 8 - IE hangs running Flash

We're running a Flash presentation that loads in IE7 (for a
Kiosk - not connected to 'net). After 15 minutes or so, it quits,
getting the error message that Internet Explorer is hung..... any
ideas? I'm up against a deadline, if anyone needs some extra
karma.

Okay...after four hours or so of uninstalling/reinstalling, I
finally figured it out. Vista wanted me to run it as an
administrator. For whatever reason, that must've been what was
causing the weird lock-up. It works fine if I do that. Funny thing
was I wasn't running it as administrator last week. Must be a
stupid Microsoft update.
Oh, well....

  • IE7 Flash not working in Vista - Work Around

Thought that I'd pass this on as it may help some people.
It's a less than ideal solution, but it may be a work around until
someone comes up with a better solution.
I've been having problems running Flash (in particular
    http://www.afl.com.au/) and have
tried uninstalling and confirming all files are removed in
C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash, as well as the registry updates
that you may have read in other postings here. None of these have
    worked for me...
I found right mouse clicking on the IE7 shortcut and choosing
the "Run as administrator" then going to the site in question all
    was fine... it works!!!
I'm not totally sure whether this is a Flash issue, though
the web site advises that it is. BTW my account does have
    administrative privileges.
    Hope this may help...

    Another alternative to the above...
Note: For the above solution you'll need to do this everytime
you open up the browser if you're planing on running flash. If you
get sick of this you can right mouse click on the IE icon and
choose "properties" and "advance" and check the "Run as
administrator" checkbox. The issue then is Vista's UAC will pop-up
everytime you open IE. Again not a nice solution.
I hope Adobe fix this shortly.

  • Problems- IE7 & Flash

I know that IE7 has some issues, and thought they may have
    been resolved.
    Having this problem at
    http://www.superzoo,org
These are comments from Windows user:
Can't click the attendee/exhibitor button until the movie
runs all the way through once.
It appears to only be the first time you load the page. I
    just tried from
home computer which had not loaded the page and same problem
    - would not let
me click on exhibitor or attendee button until well after the
    dog and laptop
showing SZU. Once it let me click, it lets me click right
    away next time I
    load the page.
    This problem is IE7 only.
Using GoLive for the site. Never have experienced this
    problem before.

I can't see much in the code that is causing the problem -
there could be a variety of things that is causing the overwrite of
the button functions - without having the fla and your html file to
look at, I can only offer some suggestions...
First possibility is to build those two buttons into your
flash movie - probably the easiest solution as it would only
require adding some width to your swf file to accomodate, and
removing the buttons from your page. The "on/off" state graphics
are already built, so you would (in theory) import those in, and
assign the"rollover" and "get url" function to them.
It could also have something to do with the heirarchy of the
items on the page - try a google search of "z-index" for css and
you could try assigning styles to the items on the page based on
the instructions you'll recieve form many sites that offer the css
code to accomplish. Also try searching for references to "swf
transparent" - it may help but no promises...
One thing to note, my comments about the preferred program
for generating html pages isn't entirely biased (though I've tried
both and do prefer the interface of DW). It is a fact that Adobe
discontinued GoLive because it didn't do as efficient of a job
generating clean, cross-platform code - it couldn't compete with
Dreamweaver, so they bought their competition. The opinion I was
trying to convey was based on the technology behind the program,
not the "ease of use" aspect...
That said, your version of GoLive also predates IE7, and a
whole host of new browser updates, so much of the "code-generating"
technology built into it is outdated. You can also choose not to
believe it, but I took the time to check on my pc, and the page
doesn't function correctly in FireFox, Netscape or IE6 on my end.
It did work on my mac in Safari and the mac version of FireFox, but
there is still some inherent problems for the PC to read the code
    correctly that goes beyond IE7.
Last note - asking for GoLive advice on a Dreamweaver forum
is like asking pizza hut how to make a pizza that tastes like papa
john's... not many people in here that are very knowlegable to
    GoLive issues...

  • IE7,  Flash movie only loads once...

    I've run into a problem, I can't figure out...
I have a flash movie, that the first time you load it in IE7,
    everything works.
    http://www.floorplaninc.com/viewer.php?propertyTourID=797
Now, if you close the ie7 window, and keeping another ie7
browser instance open, then try to open a new window and go to this
page again, it times out and never loads. The php that calls the
swf never loads and the swf is never even requested by the browser.
Now. If you close all your ie7 windows, and go to the url, it
will load again. But if you repeat the scenario above. Opening a
    new window, it won't load.
I have found that if you reload the page enough times (say,
you were testing different HTML in an attempt to figure out what's
not working), it will eventually start working. Once this happens,
it will load in new browser windows consistently... Until you
reboot. Then you're back to square one: loads the first time, not
subsequent times until you close all browser windows.
I'm competely at a loss... Has anybody had this happen to
them before? How do I make it stop happening. I can alter the flash
movie, I just don't know -what- to alter.
I'm using both loadVars and loadMovie to load the data and
the images used in the swf, respectively...

If you have an swf, the same swf, set into each html page, then that swf is going to play when each page is loaded. If you only want to see the .swf play when the user gets to the home page, then only put the .swf into that page. Use a static image or a different .swf for the other pages. If, for whatever reason, you want to keep the .swf at the top of the browser window regardless of the page the user is looking at, then you might want to use a frameset or dynamic html to keep that section of the html page from changing.

  • IE7 & Flash Movie not displaying FF works fine

    Hi,
I have an issue with IE7 and my Flash video movies. When I
use IE7 (7.0.5730.13) the 6 videos (flash movies) on the page do
not display all 6 BUT in FF they all display and my navigation menu
works fine. The video boxes/placeholders change when I refresh the
page in IE7, but again, not all 6 show like in FF and the menus
    won't work properly.
Any help! Please use common/dummy talk so I can fix it. The
    page is:
    http://www.ferndalehistoricalsociety.org/history_video.html

The movies are MASSIVE. I Think you are just not waiting long
    enough. It
took >15 minutes for FF to show all of the video frames.

  • Flash Forms Not Rendering in IE7, Flash 9

We're having a problem with flash forms in IE7 and Flash
Player 9 not rendering the entire form. The form works fine in
Firefox 2. It looks to be a problem with how the Flash player is
able to pull back data in IE7. Likely this pertains to how IE7
    handles security of plug-ins.
Oddly, we've noticed that uninstalling the Flash 9 player and
then reinstalling results in the form rendering correctly the first
time, but on subsequent views the form no longer renders correctly.
Specifically, we're not seeing data that is being called via
Flash remoting in cfselect tags (state and country information).
And we're not seeing text rendered that is in cfformitem tags. Our
    dev url is:
    http://hopeequity.beaconfire.com/loggedout/index.cfm?event=StartInvesting_StartAGroupStep1
If anyone has an idea of why IE7 might not be able to render
the form correctly, or might have security-related issues with
remoting and Flash 9, please reply.

I was granted access to the manuals on our prod server (the
site is set up where you have to log in to see the manuals). The
manuals are behaving differently on the prod server than in our dev
server. The following is happening on the prod server:
    - the flash menus are appearing on our prod server in FireFox
    only.
    - I had reported in our dev area that when I right clicked on
the left hand side where the menus are to appear in IE that the
Flash menu displayed. This is not the case in our production area.
    - I get the "This page contains both secure and nonsecure
items" when viewing the site on our prod server through IE
I've asked them what version of RoboHelp they are using and
no one seems to know. It seems they don't regenerate their help
    files (manuals) very often.

  • Huge IE7-Flash/Shockwave Player Problem

i just installed IE7 (7.0.5730.11) and wanted to try it out
on some demanding pages, like those with flash animations,
shockwave games and integrated media players. everything worked
fine until i went to www.miniclip.com and started the robot rage
    game (
    http://www.miniclip.com/games/robot-rage/en/).
signing in was successful and also the choose robot page had no
problems, but after i chose a robot and got to the workshop every
single click caused an "iexplore.exe - Application Error" - The
instruction at [eg.] "0x77ec3593" referenced memory at
"0x00000010". The memory could not be "read". OK>terminate,
    CANCEL>debug!
i tried it several times, set all possible IE security and
advanced settings to lowest possible, everywhere "enable" where
possible, ran ccleaner (cleaned temp, cookies etc.), restarted my
notebook and the problem still occurs. sometimes it just hapens
when i get to the first page where the shockwave application starts
(there the "send error report" window comes up and the MS crash
analysis tells me that Macromedia has published a new version of
the flash player (i definitely have the most recent one), but
mostly i manage to sign in, choose a robot and then when i'm on the
workshop page every single click anywhere leads to the application
    error.
since the latest flash player/shockwave player issues are
from july 21, i supose the problem is indeed caused by the flash
player, not IE7, since it's not been updated after the end-user
version of IE7 had been released.
if anyhow possible, this issue should be reported to Adobe (i
am not a commercial Adobe customer, so i cannot do that) so they
can fix that and release a new version of flash/shockwave
    player

i apologize, i didn't see that i posted it in the wrong
forum; should be in the flash/shockwave player forum

  • IE7 & Flash Player problems

    Hey all:
In the past week, I've been seeing a variety of my projects
encounter problems with people using IE7 on XP. When they go to the
page, it says there's no Flash Player installed and gives them the
alternate HTML. If they click thru to install Flash, it still gives
them the error, even though the player detect on Adobe.com shows
    the latest Flash player installed.
The only common denominator with these sites is I used the
built in Flash Player version auto-detection HTML for Flash
8(.0.24), so that arouses my suspicion.
Is there a different way to go about auto-detection that will
work on IE7 without breaking any of the other browsers,
    cross-platform?
    Many thanks!

  • IE7 & Flash - Help!

I'm developing a Flash player to stream my radio station
(www.protonradio.com) and its coming along pretty well, except we
cannot get audio play back on CERTAIN systems with IE7 installed on
PC! Music plays fine in Firefox, previous versions of IE, etc...
but for some reason 50% of our users with IE7 cannot tune in.
The stream is a continous sound object we load in, I thought
it might be a security issue. We made sure the swf file and stream
were on the same server/port, and even tried lowering the security
settings in IE, but still some people were not able to play back
the stream. I for one in IE7 could listen fine, so I'm dumbfounded
as to why this isn't working...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi...
I have exactly the same problem, in the same case (streaming
    a webradio).
I really don't understand. Did you finally resolve your
    problem, please ?
    Thank you very much.

  • Spry Menu-IE7 flashes, FF-fine

I have Dreamweaver CS3. Installed vertical menu using a Spry

Only when I move to a submenu item. This does NOT happen in FF,

  • System hangs running Server Backup - Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials

I ran through the Backup Wizard, selected the System, OS, and my Data drives to backup. total output is probably about 400-500GB of data to be snapshot and backed up. It's set to automatically backup daily at 9:00pm, but upon the first backup it just sits
there. I figured I'd let it ride until the next day since I've seen backups take a couple hours before.
Well, It's more than 12 hours since it started the process, and I cannot access my server. It doesn't wake the screen, CTRL-Alt-Del doesn't do anything, and I can't remote in with RDP.
Any advice? I haven't shut it down or forced a reboot yet.

The server hangs when the backup starts, and I cannot see any error message other than after I hard reboot and see the error popup on reboot due to unscheduled shut down. Also, there is an error log in the Windows\Logs\WindowsServerBackup directory. The
log files are empty, though. They are named according to date.
    e.g. "Backup_Error-07-01-2014_02-00-06"
I have reboot the system and the same happens when I try to backup again. I do have data in the backup HDD, as I have since disabled Server Backup. After disabling server backup, the designated drive is now mounted and I can see the log file created in the
    only backup folder on it.
"Backup of volume C: has failed. The operation failed due to a device error encountered with either the source or the destination. If the source or destination volume is on a disk, run CHKDSK /R on the source or destination volume, and
    then retry the operation."
"Backup of volume D: has failed. Server execution failed"
All drives are new, and CHKDSK /R doesn't resolve anything in terms of allowing backup to proceed.
I should also note that the C: HDD is a 512GB SSD with only 36GB of data on it including the OS. D: is a 2TB HDD with only 18GB of data on it. SQL server is active during the backup process, but even ending the SQL processes doesn't change the backup outcome.
Server Backup ends up hanging regardless of everything I've tried.
I imagine Server Backup would kill any processes that may prevent it from accessing data to snapshot/backup, no?
I will add the backup HDD does have 3 files in the F:\WindowsImageBackup\NESServer\Backup 2014-01-07 020006 directory.
    @ 9:02pm 1/6/2014 (9:00pm was the scheduled start), a 2,550,784KB file
    @ 12:45am 1/7/2014, a 11,264KB file
    @ 10:49am 1/7/2014, a 272,384KB file
All three of those files were created from the same backup process. However, checking the Server Manager/Server Backup Tool, that drive doesn't qualify as containing any backup files. "The backup location does not contain any backup. Specify another
    backup location."

  • Assert error/hangs running the performance sample code

    Hi,
I'm doing some work to understand how fast I can expect Berkeley DB to run and I found the 2006 white paper on [Performance Metrics and Benchmarks|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/berkeley-db/pdf/berkeley-db-perf.pdf] so I downloaded the [sample code|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/berkeley-db/files/perf.zip] and made a couple of fixes to make it run with 4.7.25 (shown at the end).
When I run 'make test' it frequently hangs on the "Transactional Data Store (write, in-memory logging)" test under OS X 10.5.7 and under Debian lenny (kernel 2.6.26-1-amd64).
If I rebuild BDB with --enable-diagnostic I get this assertion error.

    Hi,
I reproduced your problem on Ubuntu 4.2.3 with db 4.7.25 and saw the same assert error as you. From the error message, the program asserts error/hangs at the "Transactional Data Store (write, in-memory logging)", that is calling op_tds() with DB_LOG_IN_MEMORY as the flags.
The problem comes from your change on the sample code that the DB_LOG_IN_MEMORY is set with wrong API. The DB_LOG_IN_MEMORY should be set in DB_ENV->log_set_config(). Please refer to [DB_ENV->log_set_config|http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/berkeley-db/db/api_c/env_log_set_config.html] and its flag DB_LOG_IN_MEMORY.
I change env's setting flags in op_tds() as follows. In this way, the error I saw is eliminated and the program works as expected.
    The original code is:
    PERF_CHECK(
            dbenv->set_flags(dbenv, DB_AUTO_COMMIT | txn_flags, 1) == 0);"
    {code}
    I change it to:
    {code}
    if (txn_flags == DB_LOG_IN_MEMORY) {
            PERF_CHECK(
               dbenv->log_set_config(dbenv, DB_LOG_IN_MEMORY, 1) == 0);
            txn_flags = 0;
    PERF_CHECK(
            dbenv->set_flags(dbenv, DB_AUTO_COMMIT | txn_flags, 1) == 0);
    {code}

  • Automator hanging running sudo???

I have an older server we just upgraded to 10.7.  I had some automator scripts I ran to change permissions.  I opened them to update them and it hangs on the Run Applescipts that have a sudo command in them.  They just hang and never stop.  I even created this simple script to run cd and it hangs.  Yesy in my actual script the password is correct.  Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • Crashing & Hanging - Running generally slow

My iTunes has started recently to run very slow.  When updating iTunes match it uploads ok and then after its finished the 'thinking' symbol comes up and it hangs until the point when i have to force quit.  When i reopen it checks the library and opens fine.... but then repeats the same.
Any idea what the problem could be?  Anyone know how to rebuild/compress the library?

    Hello George,
    > I can find one backgroung job is running and where only SAPMS38L program is active and acceing only one table D010INC
That is a very important detail
Can you please take a look at the oracle sessions, if the session is maybe blocked or reading?
    Login to client 000 => ST04 => Detailed Analysis => Oracle Sessions
Search for the session that is accessing the table D010INC and take a look at the wait event.
If the wait event is "db file sequential read" or "db file scattered read" .. please make a double click on the session and execute the "explain plan" and post the result here..
As you have told us, that your upgrade is taking a very long time.. i have seen such a situation, if the oracle parameter "_B_TREE_BITMAP_PLANS" was not set to false.
    Regards
    Stefan
