IE7, Vista & Flash Player 9

Hello,
I am new. I have been trying to install the Flash Player but
I get an error msg that reads, "Network Error." I have Internet
Explorer 7 and Windows Vista Home Premium. Does anyone know where I
can download it properly? I also downloaded and ActiveX file for
FP9 and a plug-in. Neither work. Can anyone help?

Hello! I, too, am new here. I have no trouble installing
Flash 9 into IE7 with XP Pro, but ever since I got Windows Live /
Windows Live Mail, IE7 crashes and tells me only that Flash 9d.ocx
was running at the time. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Vista flash player install issues

Hi All, this is my first post on here and as most people, only here because I am in need of some help. I have been trying to update/ install flash player onto my system Vista home prem 32 bit after a failed update around 4 weeks ago. I am told that I do not have admin rights to complete the install, which I do! I have tried may different help tips including safe mode (pc and firefox) new account on both with admin rights and runniong exe as admin all to no avail. I will admit being a bit of a fumbler when it comes to this sort of thing but I am trying. Any help greatfully received. All was going well until the 11 update, since then i have uninstalled all prev versions I tried to re-install again today and now, despite being told the install did not finish, that  flash player 11.4 r402 has stopped working, which in turn freezes my firefox until closed but repeatedly pops up.
    Thanks

Which installers have you tried so far?  Please try to do a clean install and let me know if there are any files/folders that are unable to be deleted.
How do I do a clean install of Flash Player?

    Flash10b.ocx

    Flash Playerのトラブル以外に最近遭遇するトラブルはありませんか?
    問題を切り分ける意味でもお試しになってみてください。

  • Adobe Flash Player Enterprise Install Issue

Couple months ago we deployed Adobe Flash Player 10.0.45.2 (ActiveX) to our enterprise.  Recently, our users have been calling the help desk stating that when they visit sites that have flash content, it asks them to install flash (however flash player is already installed on their computers).  I'm in charge of packaging and deploying at our company and this is the first time I've seen these after heading up multiple flash updates.  I've recently upgraded a few of our training rooms to Adobe Flash Player 10.1.82.76 and so far have not been able to replicate this issue with the new version. My concern is that after we deploy this new version to our whole enterprise, the issue will appear again.  So my question is, has anyone else seen this issue and/or know why it's occuring?

  • Adobe Flash Player 10 Fix for WinXP and Vista, IE7, IE8, Firefox, ect.(New Fast Fix)

(This is a possible solution for most users) I have found that inside the folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash (WinXP Home/Pro) (Computer > C: Drive > Windows > System32 > Macromed > Flash for Vista) there should be a file named FlashUtil10b.exe (IF NOT YOU SHOULD UPDATE AS SPECIFIED!) (or FlashUtil10a.exe or for older versions something similar depending on your version), which is the update utility for flash player. Click on this and if it updates, you will have to restart your computer. This should fix any missing files, and update you to the latest version.
On a side note to all those who read this, I downloaded and installed 5 different times, the same version, from different websites, all for the "new" flash version, and they didn't work (this also included trying to update Shockwave player itself). Apparently, going directly to the website and downloading a new version of Adobe Flash Player, and installing, doesn't uninstall the older version, (though it says it does nor does the uninstaller work directly from the website) nor fixes the problem. I assume they are aware of this problem, because they included this bug fix in revision 10b. This fix should work for those of you whom cannot view/see flash images as well. There also appears to be a bug/reference problem with the installation of IE8 giving the error "Missing Shockwave Decompression XTRA", when trying to play a Shockwave/Flash file, which seems also to affect Firefox and other browsers. It doesn't recognize that the folder or files that it needs in it, exist. I never had his problem before, until IE8 was installed. I checked which version I had in the system32 folder and found this updater built in to Adobe. Version 10a does NOT automatically update, but version 10b includes this fix. I currently had version 10a when I received this error, and began digging for a solution. Doing the update as described above fixed the problem, and updated it to version 10b.
The new flash version 10b has some new features, such as volume control, auto-updating, and several rendering options for those who may have a faster or slower computer/video card.
I found this works great for XP users but unsure of the Vista users. The process is the same  for Vista and the update should still work the same, as long as you run it as Administrator, I assume. I have this also posted on wwwdslreports.com at http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r22115254-IE-IE8-and-Adobe-Flash-Question and here http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r22361930-Adobe-Flash-Player-10-Fix-for-WinXP-IE 8-Firefox-ect. It appears to work for everyone so far. I have not heard of any problems from users with this problem running the RC (Release Canidate) for Windows 7 yet.
I hope this works to your benefit.
Please leave a reply to help Adobe and other users know if this fix worked for you or not. If not, please explain what you did, and the effects your seeing, including operating system, site of the flash file trying to view, browser type (ex. IE6, IE7, IE8, Firefox, Opera, ect.), and I will try to help you as best I can.
(I would strongly recommend those not using IE8, or Firefox 3.5, get the updated versions)
If your looking for uninstallers go to this site: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
If your looking for a true full install, you can download this developer version for Windows and Mac: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/updaters/10/flash_player_update2_flash10.zi p (44MB) (If you download this, I would recommend you still follow my instructions for the Flash Utility before restarting your computer.)

I would recommend all users having problems try the above solution first.
I have posted this on a couple of websites, and so far it has fixed everyones problems.
Firefox 3.5 Beta 4 has Adobe Flash Player coding built into the browser so that it not only loads faster but works better.
You still need to have the Adobe ActiveX plug-in and Adobe Flash Player for both browsers.
I would also recommend you download Shockwave Player 11.
IE8 has tried this as well, but it still has a couple bugs in it.
If you have IE8 or FireFox 3.5 Beta 4, and you are still having problems, then I recommend that you go to www.windowsupdate.com and get all of the latest updates (including SP3), then try this fix again.
Your auto-updater built into windows (If you even have it on) doesn't always pull down every update available for your computer. It only pulls down the manditory ones.
Sometimes you HAVE to go to the website and manually get them yourself. I recommend when you go to the website, you click on custom install and pick every last one of them to install, which includes, hardware and software fixes for your computer.
What a lot of people don't know is that when you have installed and tried all of the recommended fixes that Adobe gives you, and it still doesn't work, is that you are having registry conflicts within your Operating System (OS ex. WinXP, Vista, Linux, ect.), and that it is not the Adobe software at all.
Those are usually repaired by making sure your computer stays up to date.
The fact is the computer world is changing so rapidly that everyone can't keep up. You have to check for updates weekly.
If you fall behind on those updates, then you start having problems with your computer and/or software.
One problem then can turn into many and people get frustrated when something all the sudden just quits working.
Take a day or two at least once a month, and make sure you update and maintain your computer.
This includes disk defragmenting, disk cleanup, and making sure you have all the lastest updates.
You can get to Disk Defrag, and Disk Cleanup by going to Start, All Programs, Accessories, then to System Tools.
I would do Disk Cleanup first, then Defrag.
I hope you take this advise into consideration, and that it is very helpful for you.
If you find this useful, please come back and reply to this forum, and let everyone know so that others will be encouraged to do this.
Thanks and goodluck, from another user like you.

  • Flash Player for IE7 and Vista

    TRY THIS
it may solve the problem. I have just upgraded to vista and
when I tried to install flash player nothing happend, then
I went to vista's discussion forum and found this.
    "go to
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/downloads.html
and then click on Download the Windows Flash Player 9 ActiveX
    control
content debugger (for IE) (EXE, 1.18 MB)
    It worked for me !

Thank you for posting this. I have tried everything else here
and to absolutely no avail. Doing this stopped the annoying
security pop-up telling me to run Microsoft Add-On for the Flash
Player on every single flash site..... this gets unbelievably
annoying as a flash developer with over 20 different clients and
having to check content on their sites.

  • Flash Player Works in IE7

    Thanks to User 'Bovo71'.
Many of you have experience that it doesn't work in Vista
    IE7.
Pls go to 'start' - 'all program' - IE. Right click chose
    'run as administrator'.
    Then everything is ok.
This is not best solution as i believe there exists conflict
between IE7 and FP. But it works well anyway.

I have been working on this issue for 6-7 hrs and can't make
it work, studied many forums inc this one and tried many diff.
recommended solutions, but to no avail....so I am posting to plea
for help to end my misery and frustration....here are the details
    for u techies :)
    -running IE 7 Vista home
    - works in firefox, not IE7
    - youtube won't work - shows the usual error message about
    javascript etc
    - tried the usual uninstall, reinstall combos, in admin and
    not in admin mode etc
    - however i find when i right click and run as admin flash in
    xanga works....however not youtube
    -i suspect admin permissions issue?
-i find i cannot install flash 9 via website, it just doesnt
load and the pop up doesnt occur...so i installed standalone and it
    is able to install
    - i have no third party firewall etc, i turned down security
settings to minimal in IE, rid of pop up in IE and ensured usual

Windows system registry, we have been using the following
    instructions to resolve these issues.
Please download the following to your desktop.
    http://www.supportflash.com/reset_min.zip
    1. unzip the “reset_minimal.cmd” and the
    “subinacl.exe” to the desktop
*** Make sure both files are on the desktop***
    2. Close out all applications
    3. Run the “reset.cmd” file
    4. It will open a DOS like terminal
    5. When it is finished it will say “press any key to
    continue”
    6. At this point you can download the latest Flash Player
    from here:
    www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer
thanks Darren, however it didn't work for me, is there
something I did wrong, some q's here
    - do i uninstall flash b4 doing the reset min?
    - do i run as admin for reset min
    - do i need to run the other file in the zip file?
    - attached dump of the reset min not sure if ok, it shows no
    privledges etc
    - if all steps are fine, then when I went to adobe site, it
won't download, just the loading bar then goes to next page with
browser showing errors on page and no installation confirmation
    flash.

  • Problem with Flash Player in IE7 / IE8

    I'm stumped.
    I've got a problem running Flash content in IE7 / IE8. I had
Adobe Master Suite CS3 installed on my laptop, and had no issues
running Flash content in any browser including IE7 when this was
installed. I've recently un-installed it and can no longer run
Flash content in IE7. I've tried re-installing Adobe Flash Player
from the Adobe website and, whilst the browser window is open, I
can run Flash contect with no issues. However, when IE7 is closed
and then re-opened, it stops running Flash content again. No errors
are experienced, just a black space or a "you must have flash
installed to view this content" message where the Flash content
should be. If I re-install again, I can view the content until I
close IE7. I've tried upgrading to IE8 but I'm getting the same
    problem.
I have FireFox 3, Opera and Google Chrome installed also, and
have no issues playing Flash content in these browsers.
    Please help!

    All sorted now...
Removed Flash Player and its ActiveX control. Completely
reset IE8. Re-installed Flash Player 9. Now working.
Should have done this hours ago!
