IE8 and Adobe

I've got three users all on windows 7 32-bit, and they have the lastest version of adobe reader installed.  When I click on a link to a pdf it act like nothing was done.  It doesn't open a page it doesn't open adobe it just doesn't do anything.  I've uninstall adobe a few times. I've turned the the link helper addon on and off.  If you copy the link to the pdf and paste it into the address bar it loads fine.  I happens on multiple pages, an example is http://www.mkbattery.com/pvsolar_products.php if you click download nothing happens.  If you right click it and click save target as it allows you to save it.  I'm not sure what else to try any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Reg: Support Pack supports Windows 7 , ie8 and Adobe reader X

    Hi Team,
Could anyone advise me what is the SAP Support pack that support Windows 7, IE8  and  Adobe reader X?
    Thanks in advance.

The installers for all Windows versions are the same.

  • Mozella 3.6 will not run well with Adobe Flash Player 10.1-- IE8 and Adobe Fpash Player 10.1 does work

I use filehippo.com to automatically update my applications. So I have Mozella 3.6 and then recently downladed and installed Adobe Flash player 10.1 or the latest version.
    I then proceed to http://www.africam.com/wildlife/lc_player_chat.php?sh=nk-1
and found that the picture will not show- I get a running circle and then a brown square instead of the pic.
Now using IE8 and the same version of Adobe Flash Player I get the picture.
This worked in Mozella before the last update of Adobe.
Can you give me any direction to fix this?

Hi, not sure what that is about. Did you use the Adobe Uninstaller first and follow the instructions?
I would download the Uninstaller and SAVE it to your Desktop:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html
Then I would download and SAVE the Installer to your Desktop:
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html Use the EXE Installer for Windows/IE
Once you have that done, then Close all browsers, disable any messenger services in the system tray(area near the clock)
Run the Uninstaller and when it is finished, Reboot(restart) your computer.
Then run the Installer and reboot when it is finished.
Then test here and you should see the Flash logo animation and the version of Flash Player that is Installed.

  • IE8 and Adobe Forums Link

We have been testing IE8 in our department and I needed to pose a question to the Acrobat Reader forum. I have since found the resolution. Before doing that I had to uninstall IE8 and take it back to IE7. I could get to adobe.com OK, but when I clicked on the support link to get to the Forums, Internet Explorer V 8 never fully displayed the page. There were items downloading that never downloaded and I finally had to use Task Manager to close the IE8 Windows. I did this several times before returning to IE7 just to get to the Acrobat Forums.
Are there some settings that need to be changed. I tried compatibility mode and that didn't work.

  • Cant type # $ or % in IE8 with Adobe PDF Explorer bar open

I have found that when I turn on the Adobe PDF Explorer bar in IE then close IE and open IE again that I can not type certian characters in any IE fields. This is an issue as serveral of our search databases use these characters as wildcards.
We are currently using Windows XP Sp3 with IE8 and Adobe Acrobat 8.1.3.
If I close the PDF toolbar then it will work fine again.
Please, no sugests to upgrade to the latest vesion of Acrobat, we have recently spent 6 months looking at migrating to version 9 but due to bugs and the changing to its basic functionality it is not a viable option. Of the 4 major issues I logged with Adobe support they were not able to resolve any of them.

Im happy for you Bernd, the asumption is that it works for a lot of people. Start with XP sp3 with IE6 and upgrade 6 to 8 and then install Acrobat 8 and patch it to 8.1.3. Oh and dont login at each stage to test it.The biggie is do not use an account that has local admin rights when you test it. I think that I will need to call gananigans on ya. I can see why you have 5,500 posts.

  • IE8 64 Bit and Adobe Reader X

I'm having a problem with IE8 64 bit and Adobe Reader X when opening embedded PDF's.
If I use the 32 bit IE or any other browser, it opens in the embedded client no problem. But when you attempt to open it via 64bit IE8, big red x.
The two Adobe addons are present in the 32 bit version but not shown at all in the 64 bit version. Attempted multiple reinstalls, restarts, with no luck. Tried adding to safe sites as well.
    Thanks!

Adobe Reader X and Adobe Acrobat X are 32-bit applications, and as such they do not install plugins for Internet Explorer x64. They will run happily on a 64-bit operating system but in Windows you must use a 32-bit browser to view PDFs which are flowed into the page using <embed> tags. Direct links to the files will be fine, as they will download and open in the desktop version of Reader if the browser doesn't have an internal handler, but embedded content requires a plugin.
There are no plans for a 64-bit version of Adobe Reader at this time.

  • File does not exist: /www/public_html/null, referer:  - error in log file from IE8 and IE9

I just updated an existing slide show that was created several months back. Since loading my new set of files to our web server, we keep getting the following error in our server log files when someone loads our page in IE8 and IE9:
File does not exist: /www/public_html/null, referer:
One of our programmers tracked the error to this line of code, but we're not sure what's causing it:
    Muse.Utils.addSelectorFn('#slideshowu70', function(elem) { new WebPro.Widget.ContentSlideShow(elem, {autoPlay:true,displayInterval:6000,slideLinkStopsSlideShow:false,transitionStyle:'horizo ntal',lightboxEnabled_runtime:false,shuffle:false}); });/* #slideshowu70 */
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

The errors aren't showing up on the client side, only in the server access logs. Every time the page is loaded with IE8 or IE9 and the Muse.Utils.addSelectorFn with the #slideshowu70 line is hit, it generates four errors in the server access logs.
Our admin guy pulled the errors from where it was clicked on from the Adobe forum. He said it also appeared that you tested it with www added to the url (if this was when you were testing it)...
    [Mon Feb 04 13:58:57 2013] [error] [client 121.242.198.2] File does not exist: /www/public_html/null, referer:http://stingrayboats.com/

The reason we find it strange is because it did not result in errors with the previous version of the slideshow. The only thing that changed this time around is that I removed some slides and added additional ones, but I noticed that there is a lot of difference in the code and even the scripts that are used. And I did copy over all of the scripts, css files, etc., so it's using all of the new source files.
I was hoping it was something that you guys had noticed if you review the access logs when you're testing. While it works perfectly on the client side, the IT guys do go through our access logs, so it would be nice to eliminate the errors.
    Thanks for looking at it!

  • Windows vista, internet explorer 8 and adobe reader 9

I have windows vista, internet explorer 8 and adobe reader 9.  When i open pdf files from a website i cannot save the document.  I don't get an error message, it just does not open.

Have you tried capturing these application in separate packages?  I have been successful in capturing IE8 in one package and Adobe Reader XI in another package and then using the OptionalAppLinks option in the IE8 package to point to the Adobe Reader dat file.  Just make sure that both packages work outside of the applinking.  Also, you can try to install Adobe to the native machine and see if the embedded pdfs work in the virtual IE package.
These are just the troubleshooting steps that I would take to narrow down what is causing the issue you are seeing.

  • Anyone have a slideshow that works in both IE8 and Firefox?

I have tried the widgets offered by Adobe. They don't work in IE8 and I have tried all the fixes from the Adobe Labs.
Doctype....If I change the doctype as recommended, then I get a white outlined box in the middle of the photos which I can't remove. If I change the doctype, then the slideshow won't work in Firefox.
Meta...If I add the meta line as suggested, no change at all.
Outline remove....I saw this on the forums, but could not find the line in any of the CSS code.
Other slideshows...I have tried downloading Easy Rotator and can't register and when I go to their website - can't put in a support ticket. Obviously they have problems running their business so I would like to find something and someone simple if possible that works!
Any one have any recommendations?  I just need a very simple straightforward slideshow - nothing fancy - for my online catalog.
    Thanks!
    Janet

I took out the options for the end user to pause the show
If that is what you are looking for change the variable autoplay to true:

  • Cannot get IE8 and FlashPlayer10 to get along

While using Internet Explorer 6 I never had any issues with Flash Player.  I wasn't  even aware that it was there.  After installing the new Internet Explorer 8 I began  getting more computer freezes than I can ever remember having.  This happened whenever I came to a website that wanted to use FlashPlayer even though it was already installed.  I had to hit the computer reset button many times.
With IE8 installed I went through the different instructions on the Adobe website.  I downloaded the uninstaller and tried that with no luck.  I downloaded the SubInACL tool from Microsoft and the reset_fp10.zip file from Adobe and tried that according to the instructions.  Still no results.
I then tried to manually adjust Registry Permissions according to TechNote tn_19148. No results
I removed IE8 and everything runs fine.  I like IE8.  Any ideas.
    Thanks,  Steve

We've tested IE8 extensively without any serious issues, but it's certainly possible that something on your machine or in your IE8 install (as Feran suggested) is conflicting.
Follow his advice, try to narrow it down and if necessary open a support case against Flash Player (webcase only) via this technote:

  • IE8 and prior not showing Edge Websites. Whats the best solution?

    Hi All...
Whats the best solution to have Edge websites appear on IE8 and Prior internet Explorer versions.?
Is it too weird to Design the whole website in Adobe Edge? should I just use this sofware to create partial animations for webpages?
I see lots of arguments around SEO too. Very confused if I should trust Edge to replace the HTML5-JavaScript-CSS3 handcoded websites.

    Hi, Departure-
There are a couple of options for displaying to users of IE8 and below: you can display the down-level stage (which, by definition, displays to browsers that do not support Animate content), or you can turn on the Google Chrome Frame, which is available in the Web section in the Publish Settings dialog.
    Hope this helps.

  • Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX and Adobe Flash Player Plugin

    Windows 7 64bit / IE8
I uninstalled Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX and Adobe Flash Player Plugin thinking they would be reinstalled together when I installed the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.
Now I only see the entry for Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX 10.2.159.1 listed in - Uninstall or change a program.
I was wondering how to get the Adobe Flash Player Plugin?
    Thanks.

These are the files listed in the folder.
    Flash10p.ocx
    FlashInstall.log
    FlashUtil10p_ActiveX.dll
    FlashUtil10p_AciveX.exe
I originally uninstalled Flash Player 10 ActiveX and the Flash Player Plugin
thinking they would both be reinstalled with the newer version. When I installed
the newer version of Flash Player 10 ActiveX I noticed the Plugin was missing
and wondered what happened to it. I didn't know it needed to be downloaded
seperatly and I also didn't know what it was for exactly. As it is right now
everything works and since I'm not using any other browser - downloading
the Plugin isn't required. At least now I have an idea what the Plugin it was
intended for and know it's not needed.
    Thank You.

  • Commandmenu items highlight is not working in IE8 and firefox

    HI All
i developed a menu for my project .
in that menu i have some menuitems
when i mouseover on commandmenuitem the item is highlighted .
but this is not working in IE8 and firefox ..
it is sometimes working in iE7 and some times it is not working.
    Can any one help me

PDF documents are hosted in an ActiveX or netscape plugin control which have their own printing functions.
Start>Adobe Reader>Edit>Preferences - to adjust what functionality the PDF document viewer addon displays (menus etc).
    Tools>Manage Addons>Show all addons
make sure you have both the x86 and x64 versions of your PDF reader Active X control installed and enabled. I would recommend also that you update to the latest version of the vendors' (Adobe?) plugin.
Possibly you have disabled scripting of ActiveX controls in the IE security zone that your parent page maps to. Also there is an IE security zone feature that prevents navigation to a domain in a zone of lower integrity.
Tools>Internet Options>Security tab, click "Reset all zones to default".
when asking developer related questions it is helpful if you can include a link to your website.
