IE8 and prior not showing Edge Websites. Whats the best solution?

Whats the best solution to have Edge websites appear on IE8 and Prior internet Explorer versions.?
Is it too weird to Design the whole website in Adobe Edge? should I just use this sofware to create partial animations for webpages?
I see lots of arguments around SEO too. Very confused if I should trust Edge to replace the HTML5-JavaScript-CSS3 handcoded websites.

Hi, Departure-
There are a couple of options for displaying to users of IE8 and below: you can display the down-level stage (which, by definition, displays to browsers that do not support Animate content), or you can turn on the Google Chrome Frame, which is available in the Web section in the Publish Settings dialog.

GL posting clearing item amount and do not show doc status on the header

Hello,
GL post clearing amount both side and increase the no of items in the GL balance display. Inaddition, these clearing line item document header does not show document status field. I have another GL which does not post extra two lines and clearing item document is empty and header shows document status as A (cleared item).
Could you let me know what the difference and what need to be changed to make it not to post clearing items + and - and show doc status.
Both are same FSG and only difference tick mark not done for balance in local currency.

Firefox downloads but does not install on my Win7 64 bit laptop and does not show any files in the software list of programs installed.

I have installed and uninstalled several times with no success. I had a previous version installed in April 10 but it will not reinstall or run. This problem started about a month ago, in early July.

Ipod touch not recognized and will NOT reset, therefore none of the "regular" solutions apply. The apple logo comes up, it boots to "connect to itunes" then stays there forever. Unintallling reinstalling itunes components also failed.

I have tried all the regular solutions so please don't clog up the post with those suggestions. This problem has been presented many times in many different ways and NEVER solved. I bought the Ipod touch 3g on ebay so it may have been jailbroken or attempts made in that regard. What I want to know is:
IS THERE A HARDWARE PROBLEM THAT CAUSES THIS SYMPTOM, because I always hear the line "ipod firmware is indestructable" even if jailbreakers have messed with it. I believe the only logical choices here are either ONE: the firmware on the ipod touch CAN be altered to make it inoperable, or TWO: There is a specific hardware malfunction that results in this symptom. It would be nice if someone knows for sure one way or the other. I am too far from a dealer to plug it in for analysis. I am in Cedar Rapids Iowa and to my knowledge the closest hookup is DesMoines, about 120miles.

Thanks, you brought up an interesting subject---exactly WHAT happens when the battery is completely drained? And what's the best way to drain it? Do you usually HAVE to do a restore after a dead batt? If so, maybe this is the solution. because it seems to think it has booted properly, and yet it won't continue past "connect to Itunes screen, then it soon goes into hybertation and power save just like normal. Is ALL memory taken out of the device, like draining a cmos on a desktop, I have been contemplating draining the bat just like holding in the power button to drain a cmos. The only other logic that makes sense is the usb interface (as you mentioned, "iPod is not immune to hardware problems") I bought TWO new cables, to no avail. MAYBE it is a mechanical connection issue and not a software one, I guess I'll try that too.
edit: sorry, missed this in your suggestion...as mentioned here, it does NOT stay on, but goes into power save so batt won't drain that way.

Whats the best solution/workflow, iTunes & NAS?

I have struggled with my decision on what the next step is for itunes storage, here are some of the items of consideration:
*Managing the library*, break up or keep it all together?. Ideas that are being discussed: lag in large itunes libraries, breaking out files on to externals, removing files and only importing when required, storing movies on Apple TV (Gen1).
*AppleTV, Gen1 vs. Gen2*, AS the 2nd Gen rolls out what has changed?; Full streaming, no storage, transfer speed, resolution, advantages of the new box...
*Storage on a USB/Firewire external*, So many choices?; Size, connection type, sound, reliability, speed requirements for streaming (audio vs video).
*Storage on a NAS*, requirements?; raid or not to raid?, 3rd party software support for Itunes library, SMB vs AFP?, is this the right solution?; should Mac mini (with or without server os?) with external firewire be considered first?, will the future of itunes support different library configuration?.
Right now i'm leaning towards a Mac mini server with attached Promise SmartStor (firewire 800) and more then likely with the Gen2 Apple TV.
+(I haven't decided if i'm going to bypass appleTV and directly connect the MAC mini to the TV yet... there seems like there are more advantages to this then not.. and if i really wanted to, i could partition and boot as a appleTV... with all that said, my entertainments centre would look a lot cleaner with just a little black box tucked away somewhere...)+
Thoughts?, Advise?, Experiences?, Predictions? are all welcomed!...

"storing movies on Apple TV (Gen1)." Bad idea. If ATV1 is ever pointed to an itunes library then all that storage is LOST.
I have a huge itunes library with no lag. I have a fast Mac Pro, lots of ram and fast hard drives. What do you have?
ATV2- frame rate is higher 30/fps I like ATV1 with hard drive. I travel and take it with me leaving computer home.

external device....do not use usb too slow , slower than FW 400. Use FW 800 I use Nexstar MX raid enclosure, two 2 terabyte hard drives set in jbod, not raided. Never a problem of connection.
itunes and NAS one mac at a time on this one and slow to transfer files, especially large volume.
Mac mini...I'd like to go that way because of the 1080 resolution to ATV but my hesitation is if no 5.1 channel sound then forget it. The ATV1 does 5.1 channel sound.

My company is in the midst of upgrading from R/3 to ECC6.0. Previously we had an architecture where by client/customers/user agents would interact with a CRM based web IC portal, that in turn would update a production enviornment via a queue based system. I know, messy or what!
My question is this, going forward and wanting to replace the existing CRM system altogether what are the best options alternative to this type of architecture??
I thought a Netwever Portal but am worried that this will mean a 'WAIT' whilst the 'COMMIT' occurs and therefore the system will be overloaded. Is there possibilties of a 'buffer' between the web portal front-end and ECC6?
Also thought a .NET web app with bespoke tables might work with a scheduled job to import data.

Just what it says. I was using my iPod, everything was fine, I locked it, put it down on the table for a few minutes, picked it back up, and when I clicked the lock button the lock screen came up totally zoomed in. ***. I discovered I could move around the screen by touching a direction and it was dragged across. I got to the unlock slider and the little button that you slide across took up the entire width of the screen. Once again, ***. It let me drag it across, but it's impossible to type in my unlock combination as it requires me to click on wrong numbers in order to drag it to the ones I need. I also shut it down completely 3 times. It starts up normal, but the lock screen is frozen for a few seconds, then zooms in way far. ***????? Please someone help me out here, I've never seen any iPod do this...

I looked around and there seem to be some solutions to play mp3 (javazoom, quicktime). What do you recommend? What are some disadvantages? Is there a good tutorial to a good class that enables playing mp3 somewhere (I didnt find one) ?

MP3 codecs have been (temporarily?) removed from the JMF because of the recent dust-up over MP3 patent "enforcement" hints from the patent holders. The only JMF implementation that is not so encumbered is the version for Windows, which actually uses the *ahem* "native" Windows codecs for decoding.
For Sun this makes a somewhat reasonable approach as the patent holders (can't remember who "they" are, but I believe it's a German university spin-off - don't take my word for it, though) can, at their discrection, charge royalty fees on a very ad hoc basis.
Micro$oft, of course, is the proverbial 800-pound gorilla and one could possibly expect them to get more preferential treatment than a "relative" financial light-weight like Sun.
Personally, for playing MP3s, though, I use XMMS. ;D

Whats the best solution to speed up leopard boot times?

hi all. im fed with leopard taking around a minute to fully boot up. It lags on the blue screens for about 15 secs which doesnt help. I do have around 100gb in use on both my mbp and imac's but have only mail and ical as log in items and have cleared the caches as well as doing repair permissions etc. i have nothing on my desktop.
Ive heard that doing an erase and install and manually transferring everything from my external hard drive should help but its so time consuming. if i do it but preserve all the settings instead etc would that help? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Also I have microsoft word student edition which always takes about 10-15 secs to open yet when i try them at the apple store its almost instant and you hardly notice that horrid beach ball? any help here would also be appreciated.

Mysql on Leopard, whats the best solution?

Is there a simple way to get mysql to work on 10.5?
I had it working perfectly on my macbook last year. Since then i've upgraded to a macbook "pro" (waves fingers insanely in parenthesis) and it doesn't work at all.
I think my biggest error was to use the migration assistant, as it seemed like a good idea at the time, to bring in my previous system. Actually it was very good apart from this problem with mysql.
Now when i try to connect to wordpress or drupal in the sites folder i get "Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)"
and i've tried solutions from this site and the Apple KB for months to no avail.
Is there a tried, tested and trusted install of php/mysq that i could follow? i'll re-install mac os if need be but i'd rather be sure.
Simplicity is the most important because i don't have the time or headspace for being "unixman".

I have a similar problem. I restored my iPhone 5 to the latest available OS. After completing the process the phone never restarted. The phone was fully charged when I restored it but now refuses to charge past the red battery icon. I have been able to get the phone in UFD mode several times and have been able to load the new OS on the phone. The Apple logo does come on and the software fully loads. iTunes tells me the phone will restart but never does. I left it to charge all night but it never appeared to load the battery. This morning I went to the Grand Central Terminal apple store for help. A woman at the store plugged the phone in but it never charged. She absolutely refused to believe that I got my phone in UFD mode and loaded any software on. I don't think it is a battery issue. The only solution I was given was to buy a new phone. Repairing it was out of the question. At this point the phone is completely useless. Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a lot of movies on my computer and need to free up memory. What is the best solution, if I think I may need these movies in the future?

I'm an elementary music teacher and my students perform regularly so I have a lot of their performances on my computer. Now I need to free up memory so am wondering what the best solution would be, given that I may need access to these movies again in the future.
I do have an external hard drive, but have never been able to figure out if you can store movies on it, instead of on the computer hard drive.

I see you have another post about deleting movies and iDVD projects. Wanting the video to be available in the future is a significant criteria because video files are very large and are very compressed to fit on a DVD. If you want the video to be available in the future for additional editing (eg, highlights of the year), ideally you'd want to save the video in a format which will easily allow this. To me, this suggests you delete the iDVD projects but keep the iMovie files for future editing. This accomplishes the easy editing objective but keeps a lot of large files on your hard drive (each iMovie/iDVD project will be about 20% smaller -- assuming a 4 to 1 compression).
If you are willing to accept some additional work in the future and are okay with some reduction in video quality, you can pull sections from an existing DVD and use iMovie to combine them. The extra work is required to decompress the DVD, and this is also the reason for loss of some sharpness. This strategy reduces the file size of your combined projects by about 80% if you save disc images (virtual DVDs), or if you save the physical DVDs, you save 100% of the space.
I'd decide about the tradeoffs before jumping into action.
