Ie8 and reader

have ie8 i could not use reader, one of the fellows at adobe said to cream all adobe products and then re-install(dont worry will be posting this also in reader forum)m biqw U have ie closed, download the stand alone app, and yet I cannot use reader from ie8. When I follow the instructions for reader, it shows that the version for the reader, does not show, under the add-in manager, and when I try to open a pdf on the web it refuses to show. If I save it then I can read it just fine. I have seen articles which I have been seeing for a while, saying there was a installer error for adobe, however still will not install and actually work So now I do not know what to do to get it all working again. Kind of frustration when adobe says do this, then cannot get a clear answer without spending 39 dollars to fix flash player, and 39 to fix reader. I am disabled and unable to spend 80 dollars just so I can view PDF's for my disability insurance stuff. Adobe used to make a very seamless product but I am very surprised at how poor the information as to fixing the problem. Help me please

PDF doesn't open in IE8 and IE9(RC) with Reader X

Hi,
our customers are experiencing difficulties in open pdf-files from our https-server.
When they're clicking on the link they get a grey blank page instead of the document.
The links are working fine with other browsers (tested with Chrome, Firefox, Opera) and lower versions of Reader (<=9.x) The problem occurs only when using IE 8 or 9 and Reader X.
Is it a known problem and is there a solution?

Just to say I am having exactly the same issue on my MacBook Air. I can't remember what I did but after this happened a few times, and once I had clicked on the Japanese pop up, I managed to do something that now means I get the pop up in English, saying 'Adobe Reader blocked for this website'. When I click on it it asks me to trust the content and then I get a bar with the text in Japanese. Eventually the pdf does open. However it's very irritating that I have to trust every pdf individually which I never had to do before the latest upgrade, and I don't understand why I get messages in Japanese. I will be interested to see whatever answers other more technical people may provide!

I just updated an existing slide show that was created several months back. Since loading my new set of files to our web server, we keep getting the following error in our server log files when someone loads our page in IE8 and IE9:

One of our programmers tracked the error to this line of code, but we're not sure what's causing it:

The errors aren't showing up on the client side, only in the server access logs. Every time the page is loaded with IE8 or IE9 and the Muse.Utils.addSelectorFn with the #slideshowu70 line is hit, it generates four errors in the server access logs.
Our admin guy pulled the errors from where it was clicked on from the Adobe forum. He said it also appeared that you tested it with www added to the url (if this was when you were testing it)...

The reason we find it strange is because it did not result in errors with the previous version of the slideshow. The only thing that changed this time around is that I removed some slides and added additional ones, but I noticed that there is a lot of difference in the code and even the scripts that are used. And I did copy over all of the scripts, css files, etc., so it's using all of the new source files.
I was hoping it was something that you guys had noticed if you review the access logs when you're testing. While it works perfectly on the client side, the IT guys do go through our access logs, so it would be nice to eliminate the errors.

Some web pages come up blank, generally following a link, that have opened without issues in earlier FF versions. Pages open OK in IE8 and/or in Chrome. Have tried the cookies clearing etc as suggested elsewhere, without success.

I'm running FF 3.6.8. Certain websites (no apparent pattern, no secure sites) come up blank (white screen), showing "Done" on the footer. It generally happens when clicking on a link in another web page but no login or similar is involved to get to the intended site. Have cleared the cookies and followed the advice for a similar issue stated elsewhere on the Help forum, to no avail. Have also not added any add-ons since that recent FF upgrade.
The affected sites have come up without issues in earlier FF versions, and they do load in IE8 and in Chrome. A representative example is shown below. - Will appreciate any helpful comments and recommendations!

Bookmarks in ie8 and safari do not sync to iphone and ipad

Hello everyone, hope someone could help me..
I really want to sync my bookmarks from my PC to my iphone and ipad but it doesn't seem to work. I already tried the following but they all failed:
1. Clear Sync history
2. Clear cache, cookies and history from iphone/ipad
3. uncheck sync bookmarks in itunes, then sync. then re-check then sync again.
4. I tried deleting all bookmarks in IE8 and then re-creating them, then sync afterwards
All these methods failed. Everytime I try and sync itunes with my iphone/ipad, the sync is successful but bookmarks is left out. No syncing happens for bookmarks. Apps, music and contacts sync work fine though..

No bookmarks bar folder is created
For perspective, my IE8 has bookmarks both in Favorites bar and in Favorites (apparently they are different). I did this to ensure that it's not just a matter of wrong bookmark location in IE. am i doing something wrong?
Also, when I sync there is this one bookmark (google reader) that keeps on popping up even though I manually delete it in my iphone. It suddenly shows up after every sync.

I want to display a white block in the image. but when run in IE8 the white block appears bigger as compared to when displayed in IE11.
I wanted to know why is this behaviour and if the code is same then the output should also be the same. can anyone help me to understand this behaviour?

Same script gets different results ,just as Greg said this may be related to the different rendering pages methods between different Internet Explorer versions.

Frame issue in Workspace with IE8/XP/Reader 9.4

When a user opens a form from a "to do" in Workspace, the form opens in a frame outside of and superimposed over the normal Workspace interface. This obscures the user action buttons, which stops the process at that user (since they can perform no actions). The "save" button is partially visible and can be clicked, as can the "Task Details" tab.
Any suggestions for how to deal with this framing problem? Obviously the user can access the form from another computer, but if this issue is related to software configuration, I would prefer to resolve it that way, since many users in our environment have this configuration.

I am unable to reproduce the problem on my IE8/XP/Reader 9.4 platform. After updating to Reader 9.4 I did have to re-enable the Reader Internet Preference to allow the pdf to display within the browser. You can check that setting in your Reader preferences but I don't think that is your problem. When it was off I was prompted to intall Reader, it did not try to open the Workspace pdf outside of Workspace.
What is the zoom setting on your browser? I believe there is a problem if the zoom level on I.E. 8 is more than 100%. If it is higher try setting it to 100%, closing your browser and then try opening the Workspace task again.

IE8 and HTML5

I just updated an eLearning lesson from CP5 to CP6 and output it to HTML 5. Aside from a few minor adjustments it worked perfectly. I can't tell you how impressed I was.
My manager ran the lesson in her default browser which IE8 and it isn't supporting HTML 5. Unfortunately we support that version for our products and it's a show-stopper for any HTML 5 delivery. I read a few articles where people seem to be 'coding around' the incompatibilty by adding scripts to the HTML. Has anyone had any success with this? Any suggested solutions that anyone is aware of? Are there any settings in the output that can get around this?

Just to confirm, HTML5 is not supported on IE8, the compatible version is IE9 or higher.
When you play the HTML5 content from Captivate on IE8 (or any incompatible web browser) it itself prompts that it would work on following web browsers--
Internet Explorer 9 or later
Safari 5.1 or later
Google Chrome 17 or later

Looks like you have to upgrade to at least 7.8.2.16.

Looking for spell check solution with IE8 and apex 4.1

Hello: The most recent solution I find to implement spell check in IE8 and APEX is 2 years old - here: http://mattball.wordpress.com/2010/06/07/apex-spell-checker/
It shows how to integrate Jspell with apex. I will likely try the JSpell Evolution since it gives the little squiggle. Does anyone have success with this or another solution? Does it work within tabular forms?

Were you able to get JSpell installed? I am stuck in the same boat - I need a spell checker. The documentation is 2+ years old and on an Oracle 10.1.x database.
I am running Oracle 11g on a Linux installation with APEX 4.1
And I had to reinstall the OS on my development machine because when I installed IE Spell as a test, it installed some MALWARE at the same time. So that isn't even an option.
Has anyone tried any other spell checkers now that Oracle has deprecated spell checking in the Rich Text Editor for 4.1? Even Google Toolbar's spell check doesn't work with CKEDitor 3 as it has been implemented with APEX. On a standard CKEditor (outside of APEX), it works great but not within APEX (thanks Oracle!!)

I am pretty sure they know about this issue and software companies must not hear what the people say. For me it is logic that they watch what happen on the software market and try to adapt own products as soon as possible.
This issue with IE8 is known and soon or later the updated version will be offered on download page but the question is: when?
I cannot understand why they wait so long time. OK, to fix some issue and testing procedure can take a days but IE8 is not on the market from yesterday.
Lets see how long it will be necessary for AuthenTec to fix this issue.

I have read that older versions require the compatability, and the version you specified (and earlier) I think is the version that had the issue. I suspect an upgrade of Jdeveloper is the solution and that may open a whole other can of worms.

CSS Menu drop down part not working for ie8 and flashing shut on iPhone 5 browser

Well to show the menu it runs off opacity, Opacity is not cross browser and IE8 as you noticed will not work with it.
This menu method of a CSS menu is also not mobile friendly.
You will need the MS filters to work in older IE's
