IE8 crashes when iTunes is installed

Hi
I have tried to download iTunes several times recently, and each time it installs OK, but when I tried to load up IE8, this doesn't work and gets a exception window. Each time, I have done a system restore, and it then IE8 works fine.
Has anyone had this problem and how was it fixed.
Thanks for your help
Fraser

Sounds like a plug-in error with IE8.
Have you tried going into your Start -> Programs -> Accessories and looking for the shortcut link that opens IE8 with no add-ins?
The only thing that iTunes would include is QuickTime, but I've never experienced this peronally... Additionally, the QuickTime add-in has to be enabled to work in IE8, unless you authroized it in the past through your other version. I would evaluate your plug-ins enabled and think about disabling the ones you don't use and then see if you can start it via your normal icon.
Additionally if your IE8 doesn't start in this mode, then I would think there is a different error and non-related to iTunes, but just coincdental that they are acting up at the same time.

  • PC crashes when itunes is installed and I connect my iphone

I am running Windows XP Home and just reformatted my hard drive in an effort to figure out why my pc would crash every time I hooked up my iphone 4S via USB. The pc screen would go black immediately and then the pc would reboot.
I have service pack 3 and all my windows updates are up to date. All my drivers are also up to date. I have not installed a printer, web cam, or other imaging device. I could now plug my iphone in via USB and windows xp recognized it as an image device and opened a folder with all of my iphone photos inside it.
However, as soon as I installed the latest version of itunes and tried to conect my iphone to synch, my pc crashed as it had before, with the black screen and reboot. As long as itunes is installed it does this every time.
I uninstalled itunes and my pc went back to recognizing the iphone as an image device and opens a folder with all of my iphone photos inside it.
Any thoughts on what's happening here?  I am stumped and don't know what else to try.  Thanks!  :-)

Is your computer a laptop computer or a desktop?
Look at the underside if it is a laptop and you should find the make/model. Look at the back if it is a desktop.
Even more basic, is it a Mac (Apple computer) or a PC?
To find the OS if it is a PC, do a restart when it reboots it should say WindowsXP or Windows Vista, or Windows 7. If it is a Mac click on the Apple in the top left hand corner then click on About this Mac. A window will open and you should find the OS version number, like 10.4.11 or 10.5.8.

  • My 4S crashed when wanted to install 8.1.3

My 4S crashed when wanted to install 8.1.3, and now I can't restore or update from iTunes 'Cos it says:
"there was a problem downloading the software for the iphone. The network connection was reset.".... and also I get "error 3253".
I'm on windows 8, and using the latest version of iTunes.
    can someone help me?

    You can try 2 things.
    1) A hard reset. Push down the "Home button" and "On/Off" button at the same time until your phone restarts and when you see the Apple logo release the buttons then try again.
    2) Download the ISWP file directly to you PC and restore the phone. (Hold down the Alt + Shift key when clicking "restore" in iTunes and you can find teh file via Windows explorer.
Let me know if this helps

  • IPodService module crash when iTunes 10 is in installation process

OS: Win XP pro with service pack 3 32bit
iPodService module crash when iTunes 10 is in installation process. System says that they can't run module. iTunes is run but work incorrect (for example I can't postpone my purchases from the phone to iTunes). I think that the problem of incompatibility of iPodService module with Servise Pack 3.

I am having the same problem. I am running Windows XP SP3. I got the same message about not being able to start the iPodService. It offered me the chance to ignore the problem so I did. Big mistake. iTunes seemed to work ok until I tried to upgrade to OS 4.1 on my iPhone. Apparently the service was needed for that because the ugrade failed and my iPhone is completely hosed. I can't use it at all.
I uninstalled iTunes 10 and tried to find iTunes 9.2.1 on the Apple site but can not find it anywhere. I can only find the Mac version. I found the Windows version of 9.1.1 iTunes. So I downloaded and installed it.
When I started iTunes 9.1.1 it complained that the library file was created with a later version of iTunes (makes sense because I had version 10 installed). So I deleted all the itl files. This blew away my library of course which ***** but I figured I could recreate it.
So when I hooked my iPhone up, I tried to do a restore on it so I could get my iPhone going again. No luck. I got a message saying that it rquires at least iTunes 9.2.1.
So now I am COMPLETELY SCREWED. My iPhone is dead in the water. My iTunes library is gone. And I see no way forward.
iTunes 9.1.1 won't work for restoring my dead iPhone
iTunes 9.2.1 for windows cannot be found anywhere on the apple site as far as I an tell. (would love to be proven wrong on this!)
iTunes 10 won't install on my machine.
I looked at the system event messages in windows XP. In the application events I see:
Faulting application ipodservice.exe, version 10.0.0.68, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.5755, fault address 0x0001b21a.
    and
Product: iTunes -- Error 1920. Service 'iPod Service' (iPod Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
In the System events I see:
The iPod Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
In the security events I see no errors or warnings, just info messages. None seem to be related to the iPhone or iTunes.
I disabled my Symantec Firewall and Antivirus. Did not seem to help the iTunes install. I'm gonna try again just to make sure

  • When itunes is installed missing file -45075 appears, any suggestions

When itunes is installed missing file -45075 appears, any suggestions

    Me too.
I have looked at 2-3 other posts, and they still fail to resolve this.
I have reinstalled iTunes; I have repaired every other Apple component and ......
    Same message every time.
I am running fully updated Windows 8 (not 8.1 yet though)
Looking at the number of posts in this discussion group, it does appear to be something that Apple could take a more proactive lead on.  Either a more meaningful error message, or ideally a fully loaded iTunes installation.
COME ON GUYS - help us out here.
If it wasn't that I NEED iTunes to manage and backup my phone, I'd uninstall the %^$*&^ lot.   That said, my 4G upgrade to the iPhone 5S is now in serious doubt ... maybe a time for a complete change.

  • Blue Screen Crash when iTunes version 9.2 accesses iTunes store

I have posted on a previous issue regardng blue screen crash when upgrading to iTunes v9.2 but have done a few other things to try to locate the problem.
Firstly, as this is a shared computer I used a colleagues login details to login into their desktop. Then opened iTunes from there. It opened perfectly normally and found and played music stored on the computer. However, as I had noticed that iTunes was crashing when I was logged in as it was trying to access the iTunes store I then tried to accesss the iTunes store from within iTunes on my colleagues desktop. Hey presto, blue screen crash with the following error:
    * STOP: 0x0000007E (0x0000005, 0xBF271800, 0xA811350c, 0xA8113208)
    * ati3duag.dll - Address BF271800 base at BF16B000, Datestamp 46eb3954
I then restarted my computer, unplugged it from the network and started iTunes in my desktop. It started normally with no problems. I even synchronised my iPhone without any problems to my music and Outlook (Calendar & Contacts).
I removed my iPhone, then tried to access the iTunes music store and guess what it went half way through the process and gave the Blue Screen error again.
Just for completeness sake I did the same thing using my colleagues desktop iTunes access and iTunes did the same thing again (without synching my phone obviously) and when trying to access the store it gets half way through, hangs and then it crashes.
    Any ideas???

You're having trouble with the drivers for your ATI Radeon video card or display adapter, lord.
If you've got a name brand PC and the video card or display adaptor came installed with the PC, head to the drivers and downloads page for your particular model of PC at the PC manufacturers website and try updating your video driver or display adaptor driver.
If the PC is custom/home-built, or you've added the Radeon to the system yourself, head to the AMD support website (AMD now owns ATI) and look for updated drivers for your particular model of video card or display adaptor.
If you're already up to date on your drivers, or updating didn't help with the BSOD, try heading into your Device manager and reinstalling your video drivers or Display adaptor drivers.
Do any of those measures give you any relief?

  • Extension Manager 2.1 for Mac crashes when trying to install any extension

    Hi,
I have the Adobe Extension Manager 2.1 installed on a Mac running Mac OS X 10.5.6.  I updated all the latest Adobe and Apple software.
I tried to install MXP files for Adobe AIR, jQuery, and Drupal, but doing so crashes the Extension Manager.  I tried uninstalling it using the Photoshop installer (which is what installed the Manager initially), but this didn't help.
The Manager also crashes when I try to open the Help > About the dialogue, both from the main window and from the menu bar.
Can anyone help me with this?  Thanks in advance!
    Rémi

Reading the thread linked below resolved my problem.  I only had to uninstall Safari 4 Beta before I could use the Extension Manager.

  • Itunes crashes when iTunes Match runs its Step 3 (not before) - any ideas why and how to fix it?

Every time iTunes runs the iTunes Match, when iTunes MAtch gets to Step 3 - iTunes stops working - ie crashes. Any idea why and how to fix it? The songs are still uploaded to iCloud etc... but it crashe iTunes every single time

I cannot explain the failure, but I can tell you that I have a string of approx. 24 emails with Apple and a combined 10hrs of talk time with Apple customer reps that tried helping me precisely for the issue that iTunes Match would crash at Step 3 without fail. Apple even logged my Console and I was talking to an engineer that literally wrote part of the code for iTunes Match (that was the fourth and last level of customer care I was escalated to). The poor man almost quite his job, and I just about demanded a refund for my $25, since iTunes Match simply wasn't working.
Then I studied at a friend's place, and I noticed that all of a sudden, while iTunes was running in the background, half my library was already uploaded and things were progressing smoothly. It turns out that it had something to do with my modem specifically, as I had already hooked up my computer straight to the modem, taking the router (TimeCapsule) out of the equation. Nothing worked. Firewalls were turned off, no AntiVirus existed, and Apple engineers tried everything possible, incl. remote access on my computer, to get this to work. Nothing worked as long as I was connected to a Motorola Surboard.
At every other network, wether at Starbucks, my university, or at friends places, however, iTunes Match worked flawlessly.
After some research online, it turnes out that a handful of people with Motorola Surrboard Xtreme cable modems had similar issues. Eversince, I simply use my neighbors wifi should I need to upload songs, and I have no issues. Oddly enough, matching (not uploading) works just fine with my Motorola.
Don't ask me how or why, I am interested in computers and work with them a lot, but I am no engineer. I can tell you that simple scientific method pinpointed to the modem, and I haven't had issues since then.

  • Latest version installed, now itunes crashes when itunes store is launched

I installed the two latest updates for itunes an everytime I attempt to launch iTunes store it crashes. I just recentl bought my Windows 8 computer prior the release of ios7 and the new itunes. So itunes was working on tis computer  before. Now that I have installed the latest version of itunes. I cannot launch the store without it crashing. Anyone know how to fix this.

    Hi jleznek5871!
There is an article that deals with uninstalling iTunes in a Windows environment, and I have quoted from it here:
    1. Remove iTunes and related components from the Control Panel
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
As you can see, iTunes and all related components must be uninstalled in a particular order for continued success with using iTunes. You should uninstall and reinstall again if this order was not successfully followed in your last uninstallation.
If you are still experiencing this issue after uninstalling according to the instructions above, you will want to see the following article for more troubleshooting steps:

  • Solution found for Vista 64 Blue Screen Crash when  Itunes Sharing on.

After days of trial and error, I found the problem with my Windows based machine crashing (Blue Screen, IRQL error) when ATV would access ITunes through sharing. FYI, The blue screen error looked like a TCP/IP error.
The problem was with the AntiVirus software. I had to completly remove CA Security suite from my system. After removal, no problem to see library and share music, movies and pictures. Not sure what the conflict is, but apparently Itunes home sharing and Antivirus / Security software do not like each other.

Here's a simple AppleScript I wrote to work around this 'issue'
    -- Safari_Extensions
    -- author: Matt D
    -- email: [email protected]
    -- created: 07.17.2014
try -- ask whether or not to disable or enable Safari extensions
display dialog "Safari Extensions" buttons {"Enable", "Disable", "Cancel"} with icon stop default button 1
set userChoice to button returned of result
      if userChoice = "Disable" then
do shell script "defaults write com.apple.Safari ExtensionsEnabled 0"
display dialog "Extensions Disabled!" buttons {"Ok"} with icon applet default button 1
else if userChoice = "Enable" then
do shell script "defaults write com.apple.Safari ExtensionsEnabled 1"
display dialog "Extensions Enabled!" buttons {"Ok"} with icon applet default button 1
else if userChoice = "Cancel" then
display dialog "You quit" buttons {"Ok"} with icon applet default button 1
      quit
      end if
    end try
try -- Restart Safari with the Extension Flag set
display dialog "Restart Safari?" buttons {"Restart", "Cancel"} with icon stop default button 1
set userChoice to button returned of result
      if userChoice = "Restart" then
do shell script "killall Safari; open -a Safari"
else if userChoice = "Cancel" then
      quit
      end if
    end try
Here's my blog post about it http://oramatt.com/2014/07/17/safari-extension-changer/

  • Help, my iPad version 1 has crashed when trying to install OS 5

    Can anyone please help.
I am runing windows XP and recently downloaded iTunes 10.5.
I have an 8 month old iPad version 1, which has been working perfectly up to this point.
I plugged my iPad into the computer and 'sync'd' the content with my PC.
I was then invited to update the operating system to OS5, which I accepted.
This process took about 50 minutes to download, and then it said it was installing the software on my iPad.
I then got 'error message' saying 'Unable to restore Kevin's Ipad - Unknown error'
My iPad was then frozen, and all you got onthe iPad  screen was a picture of the connection lead and an iTunes symbol like you do when you first buy the iPad.
I tried re-connecting the iPad, and usual restarting of desktop PC etc, and it says 'iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes'.
I clicked on the 'restore iPad' button and after several minutes thinknig about it, i get the error message 'The iPad could not be restored. An Unknown error Occurred (1604)'
I am now left with a frozen iPad which is useless and wishing that I had never embarked on the updating of the operating system.
Has anyone got any ideas of how I can restore my iPad, or is it a return to technician for repair?
Would deleting iTunes on my PC and re-installing it do any good??
Any advice at all would be gratefully received. I am tearing my hair out over this as it was perfect before trying to update software.
The thing is still under warranty. Would the warranty cover this kind of problem??
    Many thanks

You said that you keep getting the error code 1604. Did you try putting the iPad into recovery mode and when the error code appears - close iTunes and restart iTunes while the iPad is connected to your PC?
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for error 1604.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • All my tunes lost when iTunes 10 installed

When I installed iTunes 10 a couple of months ago, all the music on my iPhone 3GS disappeared. Previously the tunes were available on the phone (along with podcasts) in what looked like an iPod app (originally all the music was on an iPod). After the new OS was installed, the iPod app disappeared and all the music and podcasts with it. Instead there is an app called Music, but it's empty - and when I try to sync nothing happens. Can anyone help. I'm so sad without access to music on the go. (I also have an iPad and I'm avoiding syncing that to my laptop since losing my music... so it still has the iPod app with music, but sooner or later I'll need to update it.
Help - any ideas would be very welcome. Thanks.
    Kate

Did you reformat when re-installing? In this case -without a backup- your music is lost.
If you didn't reformat your harddisk take a closer look at ./Users/YourUserName/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music
There should be a lot of folders that contain all your tracks.

  • Crash when attempting to install panther and jaguar

    Hello,
Few days ago I suffered a nasty crash (kernel panic I think) from using Windows Media Player 9 and a partially downloaded movie. After that the computer was unable to restart. Blue screen after showing the starting up window and nothing more. (I asked about that in this thread "what are my chances of full/partial recovery?" http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1008280&tstart=0 ).
Managed to get all my personal files off the crashed Powerbook via another machine using firewire disk target mode. Having managed to successfully do that I thought it was going to be plain sailing from then on. I used Disk Utility to reformat the drive including overwriting with zeros, and the Powerbook drive appeared on the other machine's desktop completely empty and looking fine.
Having disconnected it from the other machine, using Panther install CD 1 to install Panther I got a kernel panic, the message in multiple languages including Japanese saying restart computer, soon after clicking the Install button.
I tried starting from the Jaguar install disk 1, choosing Disk Utilities to reformat the drive again (without zeroing it this time) and tried to install Jaguar instead. Soon after clicking Install the screen went entirely black with a bit of white text in the top left: The installer has quit due to an unexpected error (exit code 0). Please restart your computer.
What's going on? The computer was working fine before the Windows Media Player crash (which occured when viewing movie in full screen mode). I've wiped and reformated the disk and now can't install Panther or Jaguar. What could the problem be? Firmware? I'm guessing without knowing anything. I'm v. surprised the problem is continuing after reformatting the drive. That indicates that the crash effected something other than the contents of the drive?! which I thought was impossible.
Any suggestions would be much apprecaited.
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    Thanks for the replies/info.
Yes the Panther and Jaguar install disks are retail versions, not specific machine versions. And the Jaguar ones worked for the Powerbook before.
The Powerbook I have is the Firewire 500mhz one, Pismo I think it's called. The hard drive is a 60GB one. I didn't have to partition it before.
Reviewing all the above, it would appear that the problem is me not being able to use an internal, built in CD/DVD drive to install from this time? The only other thing it could be I think is the crash I recently had has had some bad effect -- but that's unlikely right? So, I need to get a new DVD drive? Or is there any other way to get the OS onto the Powerbook without getting another internal DVD/CD drive? Is there anyway to install onto the PB from another machine maybe?
Does that sound right?: not being able to use internal DVD/CD drive is the source of my current problem?
    Thanks.
