Yes, I remember starting at a job 9 years ago where they were
all on
Netscape 4, but then they didn't have an IT guy, so didn't
know there
was something else available. Over the years I was there I
introduced
them to IE6, and then when Firefox arrived I quickly moved
them over to
that. Not all companies work like that, especially the big
ones, it can
take a lot to get a default browser changed.

A bit like Ajax, don't make it essential, but for those who
want to use
JS its there, and for those who don't, the site still works
and doesn't
fall apart completely.

PDF forms not displayed in IE8
Hi!
IE8 is out and our portal based on LiveCycle workspace is unable to render PDF to clients. What I can do is switch IE8 to compatibility mode. But it don't seems to be good solution for this kind of product.
Also Firefox 3 has problem with submit buttons. I cannot say to my managers that people should use old browsers
Please let me know about some solution.
Thanks,
--- JaroslavWorkspace and Acrobat do NOT get along with IE8, even in "compatibilty mode." I've had a lot of session issues in Workspace running IE8 as well as PDF rendering issues. I'm not saying it isn't possible to use IE8, but it may be easier to just switch browsers. I've found IE7 and surprisingly Google Chrome 2.0 work very well with Workspace.

Does IE8 have anything to do with the oporation of firefox
Iam using firefox 5 but I keep getting auto updates for IE8 I mean all the time . can I remove IE8 with out hurting firefox, when I try a massage says it could affect some other programs but I dont even use it
Wow seems like some physical damage to the iPhone whether this is a manufacturing defect or misuse it would need to be evaluated and determined at either an Apple Store or Service provider. And yes this is most likely causing the camera not to focus.

No it doesn't, and nor should it. It fixes general errors in
Spry. Spry is a
lab experiment. Someday it will probably be very good. IE7
Beta caused a
panic and lots of folks did some "beta fixes"... and then had
to undo and
redo a lot of work upon the final release.
I strongly advise anyone seeing issues with a page in IE8 to
simply log in
to Microsoft's beta forum and report it. If you attempt to
fix a bug now,
you might be setting the stage for a broken page when the
finished version
of IE8 ships.

Windows Internet Explorer for Mac
Hello
I was looking for a Microsoft Internet Explorer version for Mac OS X, but I don't want to use Boot Camp. Ideas?
Message was edited by: Erik95BEOr try and see if Opera, or Safari 3.2. I assume you've tried changing User Agent setting? and that doesn't work? you need to reload or logout and log back in - may need to delete any cookies they may have left behind, too, before it will work.
Enable the Debug menu or Developer menu in Safari. In Opera, there are site specific preferences and you can set Opera to present itself as Internet Explorer.
Most sites that act this way are in for some "forced" upgrades probably when IE8 comes out and aren't ready. -
"This document could not be checked out." SharePoint 2010 checkout action using IE8
I am setting up a two-server farm, and most everything works, except the checkout action for a document. This problem occurs in both site collections, one of which requires checkout, and the other does not.
Here are the options I've tried:
Snow Leopard, Firefox 3.0.1 - works
Snow Leopard, Safari - works
Win 2003, IE 7 - works
XP, Firefox - works
XP, IE 8 - "This document could not be checked out. You may not have permission to check out the document or it is already checked out or locked for editing by another user."
In IE8, I am able to open a document as read only then use the button presented by Word to check out the document. I cannot use that as a workaround, as not all users have a version of Office that will allow checkout in that way.
Checkin works fine. I need to resolve the checkout error.I was having the same problem mentioned here. I noted that this problem only appears when I use the FQDN in the URL ex 'http://hostname.domain.com/default.aspx'. If I access the Sharepoint site using the URL 'http://hostname/default.aspx', then
I do not have any problems checking files in or out.
I ran into this same error pattern when trying to do a document edit (library is set to force a check out), or do a direct check out via the ribbon menu or item context menu. Oddly enough when we would use the 'Edit Properties' ribbon button (which forces
a check out) we did not get an error and the document's status would change to 'checked out'. Below are the two messages we would receive when trying to do a check out:
IE error message - "This document could not be checked out. You may not have permission to check out this document or it is already checked out or locked by another user." - Click OK
IE Error message - "The document could not be opened for editing. A Microsoft SharePoint Foundation compatible application could not be found to edit the document." - Click OK
After trying several different suggestions I realized that I wasn't having the problem when I was accessing the site locally via FQDN but only when I was using the Public Site URL (via https). Turns out we were getting the error because we did not have
an AAM currectly setup. Once I changed our AAM for the Internet zone with the Public URL value instead of the FQDN the error went away.
Hope this helps anyone else trying to track this down. Oh and this was SP2010 w/SP1 (Patch version 14.0.6106.5001) on Win2008 R2 with clients running both Win7 and WinXP using IE8. -
"out of memeory" error with Adobe Reader x & IE8
Hello,
Getting an "out of memory" error with Adobe Reader X & IE8. This is a locked down bank environment so upgrading to a higher version of Adobe is out of the question.
I looked around on the web and noticed that many people are experiencing this "out of memory error" but no fix has been provided.
Can you help?Thanks for the reply and suggestion - unfortunately, I get this error when I open Adobe Reader X itself in addition to launching a pdf within IE9 (my OS is Win7x64 Ultimate). I can launch Adobe Reader X, but when I open any kind of PDF file (local copy, remote, web, etc...) the error dialog box pops up. Everything seems functional with Reader, it's just a frustrating (er, irritating!) thing! I think after the weekend I will 'give up' and remove the Reader X and go back to my 'old' (but functioning!) Reader - thanks for the comment and suggestion tho!

IE8 and embedded forms display is out of focus
We our using IE8 in our company and all the forms maded in Formscentral are embedded in our website.
Since very recently the display of the fonts is"out of focus" this only happens in IE8 in Chrome and Firefox the display is correct.
Some of the forms are fital for our business.
Can you assist?I figured out the problem. It's just Internet Explorer being Internet Explorer as usual. I noticed that the "preview form" function works great in IE, so I looked at the source and saw that I was missing the Doctype in my HTML file.
You need to insert the following into your HTML pages where your form can be found:
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd">
My form now looks normal in Internet Explorer after this. -
I have a HP 2740p notebook with multi-touch support. With IE8, I can zoom-in/out the web page with two fingers, but I can not with Firefox 4. It seems that FF4 only support basic touch (scroll with finger)
Some prefs have been reset to empty values.
You can check and change these prefs on the <b>about:config</b> page
browser.gesture.pinch.in cmd_fullZoomReduce
browser.gesture.pinch.in.shift cmd_fullZoomReset
browser.gesture.pinch.out cmd_fullZoomEnlarge
browser.gesture.pinch.out.shift cmd_fullZoomReset

Business Catalyst Check Out scripts not working on IE8 or lower
Hi there Guys,
I have currently fixed a lot of incompatibilities on the Business Catalyst check out,
but I am currently working on compatibilities for IE8, 7 , 6 I have managed to load most of the plugins all
over the site but I am having problems on the Check Out area of the site.
I am not sure what can be blocking the scripts from loading!!
SITE: www.simplyscotlandshop.com
I am struggling to get a proper debuging using IE10 so If there is any testing reliable tool for IE older versions that's be awesome.
Thanks NowHi,
Best way to confirm that the issue either lies with BC or local is to remove the template from the shop and see if the issues resolves.
If working fine then I would suggest looking into your template to see what conflicts might be causing this. If the issue doesn't resolve even w/o the template assigned then I would recommend reaching our direct support ASAP so they can investigate and test further. -> http://helpx.adobe.com/contact/index.html (Select Business Catalyst and proceed)
Here's a neat page with debug tool references that you might want to seek to help determine conflict in various IE versions.

Within the page for New Twitter, it is constantly refreshing the page. If I'm reading, it refreshes and I lose my place. If I'm typing a tweet it refreshes and deletes everything I've typed. I do not have any add-ons installed; basic list of extensions (Java Consoles; multiple versions), though I MS .net framework 1.1 has had trouble updating and is currently disabled and so is my Norton AV toolbar.
Again this only started happening 7-10 days ago, and I wonder if there was an update to Firefox or an extension/plugin perhaps causing this. Have had to resort to using Twitter on IE8. :(Does it help if you make the Find bar (Ctrl+F) or the Add-ons bar (Ctrl+/) (Firefox > Options or View > Toolbars) visible?

Pulling my hair out over IE8 issues with spry menu bar
Its a classic story, but for the life of me, I can't figure this out. I've seen it in a hundred different forums (all slightly different versions of the same problem) . I've put together a horizontal spry menu bar (version 1.6.1). It works fine in Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc..., but goes nuts in IE.
layout and positioning of the submenus cascades horizontally, goes far right, etc.
A sample of the menu sits at http://www.alaskanrafting.com/mockup/newindex.html
I'm sure it's just a line or two in my CSS, but I sure can't find it.
the CSS sheet would be at http://www.alaskanrafting.com/mockup/SpryAssets/SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css
If anyone has any pointers, I would greatly appreciate it.
ThanksTry adding/modifying the following
ul.MenuBarHorizontal ul li {
display: block;
float: none !important;
width: auto;
white-space: nowrap;
border-bottom: solid 1px #EEE;
There needs to be an !important for the float so that it overrides the JS.
