IE8 support?

Our company switches from XP/IE6 to Vista/IE8. We run BI 7 with BEx 3.5
(not using portal at the moment). As of when is SAP officially
supporting IE8 for the BEx Suite 7/3.5? I was not able to find any
information neither in SDN nor under service.sap.com/pam
Thanks + Regards
Gerald

Hi there
thanks all for your help and information.
Here is the official reply I got from SAP concerning this question:
Thank you for contacting SAP Active Global Support.
As you already know, you can check the latest information from PAM aboutthe support of IE, right now it only contains information on IE7
support, if IE8 supporting starts, we will update to the document.
I understand this might not be the exact answer you were looking for,
But we currently only have the above information available for Customerson support of SAP NETWEAVER for Browser support.
I guess, SAP will official support IE8 right before the release of IE9 (I really need this punching bag here in the office...)
By the way, I did some testing of existing webinterfaces and templates here with IE8 and everything worked fine. So I guess you could say: Dump IE6 and go for IE8 or FF3.

Gerald

    Hi Experts,
Currently my company has given me the task to check the issues of IE8 support for Siebel Analytics as they are trying to upgrade IE6 to IE8.
So I have the following queries:
    1. Will Siebel Analytics 7.8.5 supports IE8?
    2. If not, then is there any patch available for 7.8.5 version to support IE8?
    3. What are the other options there might be?

  • IE8 Support for WebDynrpo Java

Hi, We are on EP6 and i read in SAP Notes that the Support Pack Level is 25 for IE8 Support (in non-compatability mode), but I can only see a support pack to patch level 24 in service.sap.com.
Does anyone know if SP25 for EP6 is out yet? or if not, then when it is likely to be released?
    regards,

I was aware that SP 23 was already out in the beginning of this year and as per your information SP 24 is also available now.  SP 25 is surely not out yet.
Just keep checking the PAM it would be updated as soon as the new SP is released. Not sure but I don't think you'll have to wait too long

  • EIM/WIM 4.3.1: Is IE8 supported as a customer chat console?

    Hi,
We try to use IE8 as a customer chat console relying on the "Hardware and System Software Specification for Cisco Unified Web and E-Mail Interaction Manager 4.3.1" guide. However when we attempt to start a chat we are getting the error message saying that this browser is not supported. (Please see the attached screenshot.)
    What is wrong?
At the same time I would like to note that we successfully use IE8 as an agent console although the aforementioned guide recommends only the IE7 browser for this purpose.
    Thanks.
    Igor

I agree that the System Requirements document say that IE8 is supported as a customer browser for chat. Recommend a TAC case to resolve this.

Disabling the splash screen in web.xml fixes the issues. I have an ADF application with oracle forms embedded. This application was working fine in IE7. But it doesnt work on IE8 .Does ADF(11.1.2.2) support Internet explorer 8?
The above code works fine in chrome. it has the additional element in div tag.

    Hi Juan,
    Small correction: ADF version 11.1.2.3(Latest)
We have an ADF application with oracle forms embedded. The ADF application was working fine in IE7. In IE8, ADF application has some issue with the AdfDhtmlRichDialogService.
The application is working fine in compatibility mode.
We would like to set the HTTP header meta tag in the all the JSF's.

  • IE8 support for Automation

    Hi,
I am automating a java based application which is difficult to automate using Visual Studio. Anyway I just need to identify a few controls only in that application which itself is not possible even.
When I try to use the crosshair it is showing the below warning.
"Testing Internet Explorer in 64 bit is only supported in Windows 8"
So if I downgrade my current IE 8 64 bit to 32, will it work? (I tried in good but its difficult to get IE8 32 bit)
Or do I need to try the same in Windows 8?
Is there any other way to make my crosshair to identify the controls in the application? (As i quoted before its a completely java based application and it is not even identifying any single control)

    Hi Rana Tripura,
Not very sure that which VS version you were using, but the real issue is that we would check the "Supported Configurations and Platforms for Coded UI Tests and Action Recordings" here:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd380742(v=vs.120).aspx (For VS2010)
    For example:
    Flash/Java: Not supported.
So it is the Java app, I'm afraid that it has this limitation now.
    >>"Testing Internet Explorer in 64 bit is only supported in Windows 8"
Our members also meet this kind of issue before:

  • Webdynpro not supported by IE8

    Hi:
If you run your WebDynpro    app in IE8 you´ll see this message: "Sorry, your browser/program is not supported by Web Dynpro!".
I suppose that´s because the "User-Agent" property, so I´d like to know if there´s any way to make IE8 supported by WD .
    IE8
    u201CBest Practices
Websites that are sensitive to changes in the User-Agent string may need to be updated to support IE8.
During internal testing, we have encountered a small number of sites which fail to recognize IE8 because they are performing exact string matches to look for specific IE version strings. Those checks will need to be removed or updated to accommodate IE8.  The article Best Practices for detecting the Internet Explorer version provides suggestions and code samples.
As noted in the Best Practices article, it is not recommended that you block access to content based on the user-agent string of the browser. If you do have to offer different content to different versions of the browser due to improved capabilities, you should ensure that future versions of the browser are not blocked. Serving content based solely on the user-agent string is often an unreliable way to detect the full capabilities of the browser, because the user might have adjusted some settings, such as disabling script or extensions.u201D
I searched for notes or any information about IE8 and Webdynrpo at SDN but nothing....
I try changing some values at WD Runtime ( tcwddispwda~Propertysheet clients) but nothing...It seems to be that some framework´s variables are hardcode...
"Compatibility view" (IE8 feature) doesn´t works as the button is disable when running a WD app. The configuration made by "tools> compatibility view configuration" doesn't´t work either... This is a MS  demos page to show how the button "Compatibility view" works. This is other page that works and it´s recognize by the browser to enable the "compatibly view" button.
SAP Portal works OK with IE8.
Thanks a lot for your time on this thread.

    Hi,
I started to get this JS error when I run my ADF applications in IE8. This happens on my PC. I tried clearing cache etc but it didn't help..
It happens even for one page test applications when click a button or link on the page..It works fine with firefox..
Does anyone have any idea ?

    Thank you, Muhammed.
    Yes...
I'm trying with firefox (everything ok), Safari (ok), Chrome (ok), Opera (not supported for Faces), IE7 and IE8 (supported in compatibility mode).
According to this this , it should be supported and certified to run on IE7, but it returns this funny error, related to Javascript. As far as I could guess, it has to do with the Flash properties of faces.
I've tried with 2 different pages:
    - the first one contains an ADF DVTGraph and, then, it returns this error when loading.
    - the second one contains Panel Accordion (these ones embedded that get minimized when you click on another). This behaviour is Flash, i think, because it is in this moment when it returns the error and not when it is loading.
    I don't know if I did mysefl clear... :)
Did you uninstall IE8 and then you tried with IE7 an it worked?? Did you render any DVT component?
I'm incredibly puzzled with this.... Any Idea??

  • Dropping support for Internet Explorer 8,  and  Firefox 20.x or below

Starting April 30th, we will discontinue support for all Internet Explorer 8 versions and all Firefox 20 versions and below. In order to continue using Business Catalyst Admin user interface without problems, you and your clients need to upgrade to a more recent browser:
    Download Internet Explorer
    Download Safari
    Download Chrome
    Download Firefox

    Thanks for your reply Shay.
We plan to officially support IE8 with the next patch release to JDeveloper 11g - currently planned for later this year. That matches what I wrote in my initial post in this forum thread about IE8 support.
We usually only certify browsers after they officially go production. That does not really answer my question (q1) in this forum thread.
It is more like, how can I assess that Oracle will support any successor(s) of IE8 or successor(s) of any currently supported browsers for ADF 11g applications in the future? How long will Oracle support "commonly used browsers" for an ADF 11g application I build today, so how long will I be able to use that application?
How do I answer such questions for ADF 11g applications that should be deployed on the internet (where, as some extranet environments, you typically have not that much (or no) control over which browsers your users use ... although some would like to argue with that, see forum thread "ADF Faces RC browser support and browser market share")?
(By the way, do you have any feedback for the forum thread "ADF 10g support for Internet Explorer 8"?)

  • Extended Support For Siebel 7.8 post June 2013

    Hello All,
Considering siebel 7.8 is retiring this year, what are the support options available post retirement. One of our client wants to replace siebel with another tool and have used very limited support in past from oracle. What do you think is the best solution during this transition phase of switching from Siebel to another tool.
Basically, I am looking for cost efficient and limited support options.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Portal PAR developments and IE8 comptability ?

    Hello All,
I have a number of portal JSPDynpage applications/components developed and running on portal as of date.
However, with the introduction of the new browser IE8 usage in our company, will the existing portal components(HTMLB and other portal scripting) stop working.
Can you please assist in understanding what is the impact of upgrading browser version to IE8 w.r.t existing portal par components and do we need to migrate and rewrite these apps in WD Java/ABAP.
    Please assist.
    Appreciate all the help.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Samta.

    Hi,
SAP supports IE8. You only have to make sure that your portal and ABAP system is maintained, e.g. that it is patched. To find out the patch level needed for IE8 support, check the [PAM|service.sap.com/pam]

  • ADF 10g support for Internet Explorer 8

    hi
Working with Oracle support (in SR 7732252.994) we first reached this conclusion ...
"Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 is not a supported for the ADF Faces applications built using JDeveloper 10.1.3.5.0"
    When I subsequently asked ...
"Will there be a JDeveloper 10g release (post 10.1.3.5.0) that will support IE8 ?"
    ... the answer was ...
"Jdeveloper 10.1.3.5 is the last release in the Jdeveloper 10g branch and there will be no more releases after 10.1.3.5.
Therefore, there will be no support for IE 8 in the Jdeveloper 10g branch."
    question
(q1)What is supposed to happen to ADF 10g production applications deployed in an environment that allows little control over the browser that is used (extranet/internet)?

    hi
Given the current situation for ADF 10g, see forum thread "ADF 10g support for Internet Explorer 8" ...
at ADF 10g support for Internet Explorer 8
... I was wondering about the future browser support in ADF 11g.
(Specifically about IE8 the knownissues.html document for JDeveloper and ADF 11g (11.1.1.1.0) currently says "Internet Explorer 8 is neither supported nor certified. If you must use IE8, set the compatibility view settings in your IE8 browser to ALL. In IE8, go to the Tools menu -> Compatibility View Settings and check the last checkbox "Display All Websites In Compatibility View"." and "... Hi,
    Thanks for contacting Microsoft.
The HTML5 postMessage function provides a great way for mutually
distrusting documents (even cross-domain) to communicate securely and with high performance and reliability. Unfortunately, as reported on
Connect, the HTML5 postMessage function does not work between tabs/windows in IE8. (This limitation is an artifact of the Loosely-Coupled IE feature, in which content in different tabs/windows may run in a different
process.) Update: As of IE11, this issue has not yet been fixed.
