IE8 vs Siebel

Hi all,
I have a problem with connection to Siebel through internet explorer.
The bug consists in a crash of Internet browser after the login page
The error code is:
Faulting application name: iexplore.exe, version: 8.0.7600.16385
Faulting module name: SiebelAx_HI_Client_21219.dll, version: 8.1.1.3
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files\SiebelAx_HI_Client_21219.dll
Has anyone a solution to this bug??
Thanks :-)

OK I did some experimenting. Starting at 100%, I created 50, 40, 30, 25, 20 and 10% files for testing. The resolution degraded but the "text" improved. At 20% the resolution was too poor. I have deleted all test files on my test webpage. The original and 25% is there. You can see the results.
Now go and look at it with IE8. Clearly (pun intended) the rendering is still much better.
I assume this is a bug in Firefox and eventually will be fixed?

  • IE8 Support for Siebel Analytics 7.8.5

    Hi Experts,
    Currently my company has given me the task to check the issues of IE8 support for Siebel Analytics as they are trying to upgrade IE6 to IE8.
    So I have the following queries:
    1. Will Siebel Analytics 7.8.5 supports IE8?
    2. If not, then is there any patch available for 7.8.5 version to support IE8?
    3. What are the other options there might be?
    Please let me know your inputs.

    Looks like you have to upgrade to at least 7.8.2.16.
    See the Release Notes of 7.8.2.16 and search for "SWE_historyKeys".

  • Http 404 error while opening Siebel Public Sector Web Client

    Hello Experts
    I recently migrated to siebel web client and tools 8.2.2 from 8.2. However the issue that i have been facing now is that when i open my client i get HTTP 404 Not Found- The Web Page cannot be found.
    Things that i have done to configure:
    1. Enabled ActiveX settings-Settings as given in http://www.siebeloracle.com/accessing-oracle-siebel-8-1-using-windows-7-ie8-works-on-32-bit-os/
    2. EnableFQDN: FALSE, FQDN: Commented.
    3. My ODBC and public sector cfg have been configured as per need.
    Strangely what i have encountered is that: sometimes of 1 out 30 trials, when my client opens up [P(opening client)->0 i.e. Probability is close to 0] the port number is 8081 whereas in other instances it is 8080 which i guess is by default.
    URL: http://localhost:8080/start.swe
    I have tried reinstalling the client but still i face the same issue.
    Kindly help me out with this issue.
    Regards
    KT

    Hi,
    I see that its not a problem with the installation but some problem with the port 8080. I feel some other application is running by default on that port. So, everytime whenever I have to launch Siebel Web client, I have to launch 2 instances. (8080 and 8081). So, the instance which launches on port 8081 + works fine.
    I see this process to be time consuming as I have to wait for 2 instances to open up. Hence, is there any way to define the default launch of the port when the client opens up?
    Thanks and Regards

  • How to run siebel dedicated client in a IE sandbox

    Hi all,
    I don't know if sandbox is the right term for this, but here is what I need to do. We use Internet Explorer 8 to run our Siebel 8.1.1.10 version. Our Enterprise want's to install a newer IE version, but they cannot because Siebel requieres IE 8. I must admit, that I am not aware why it would not run on newer IE versions but they made a test and it failed. The solution to this would be to migrate to Open UI but due to high costs this is not an option.
    However, our Windows Engeneers developed a package to run IE8 in a sandbox. So we have IE8 installed under C:/Program Files/Internet Explorer and have a sandbox folder C:/Workarea/SiebelApps Thinapp_V2/ where another Internet Explorer8.exe is located. We use a separate Registry within the sandbox folder. The target is to have IE12 installed under Program Files and IE8 in a sandbox. We are able to open the webclient using the sandbox IE8 exe and everything seems to work fine. But if we try to open the dedicated client the application doesn't start. IE shows "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". The URL is "http://localhost/start.swe" so this seems to be ok.
    To start the dedicated Client we use the command line. We added the parameter /b pointing to the sandbox IE8 exe File (as you may see we use DEU language on Windows...)
    START "" /D "C:\Programme\APP\SIA\Client_81110\BIN" "C:\Programe\APP\SIA\Client_81110\bin\siebel.exe" /c "C:\Programe\APP\SIA\Client_81110\bin\deu\zkbconnect_kfg2.cfg" /b "C:\Workarea\SiebelApps Thinapp_V2\Internet Explorer 8.exe" /u T580 /p T580 /d ServerDataSrc
    It seems to me that start.swe command cannot be found.
    If we remove the /b parameter so that siebel uses the IE installed under Program Files the dedicated client starts and works.
    Has anyone tried to do something like this before or has a hint on how we could do this?
    Kind Regards
    Claudio
    We found an issue description in Oracle SupportWeb. There is a problem with the /b parameter found in 8.1.1.6. The Bug has been closed without a solution. Just naming the workarround to use the default browser. However I would say that the workaround was just a way to close a bug they do not want or cannot close because you would not need /b to open Siebel in the default browser. You would just use it if you want Siebel to open in a  browser that is not set as default. So I will close this thread because there will never be a solution to this problem.

    Hello Chetan,
    Thank you for the hints.
    Dedicated Client itself works fine if we use the standard IE browser installed on the windows machine. We are just not able to start the Dedicated Client if we use the IE installed as a sandbox. Actually it is better to say, that the Dedicated Client starts, but IE throws an exception that it cannot connect to the website. It is maybe clearer if i put this in context:
    Using the IE Standard Browser:
    Shortcut: C:\APP\SIA\Client_81110\BIN\siebel.exe /b "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" /c "C:\APP\SIA\Client_81110\bin\deu\zkbconnect_eng1.cfg"
    1. When I press the shortcut, Siebel asks for my credentials.
    2. Type in logon Id and password
    3. Dedicated Client starts in IE. URL is http://localhost/start.swe
    4. Siebel Application starts and the siebel homepage is shown in IE.
    --> So everything OK
    Using the IE Standbox Browser (just the /b parameter is different):
    Shortcut: C\APP\SIA\Client_81110\BIN\siebel.exe /b "C:\Workarea\SiebelApps Thinapp_V2\Internet Explorer8.exe" /c "C:\APP\SIA\Client_81110\bin\deu\zkbconnect_eng1.cfg"
    1. When I press the shortcut, Siebel asks for my credentials.
    2. Type in logon Id and password
    3. Dedicated Client starts in IE. URL is http://localhost/start.swe
    4. Siebel is unable to load the homepage. We get a connection error instead. "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
    --> NOK
    We actually just want the Dedicated Client to start with a differen browser. But this failes for unknown reasons. As you mentioned we tried to renaming the exe-File so that it would not contain spaces. Unfortunatly it did not help.
    The client log files doesn't show any connection error on debug level 5. So we have no idea what could be the problem is.
    Our windows team is currently analysing the registry files in the sandbox to check if there is a problem. If they get me new information I will post this in the thread.
    Kind Regards,
    Claudio

  • On Track with Siebel On Premise?

    Can On Track work with Siebel ON Premise? I expect I know the answer to this but I am looking for confirmation. I have a customer that would like to consider upgrading Siebel on premise, but wants "chatter-like" functionality.
    If the answer happens to be "yes", then where can I find more info or a demo?
    Thanks!
    Ami

    Ami,
    Yes On Track can work with Siebel On Premise. Using the Web Object framework the integration allows Conversations to be created in context of a Siebel Object - Account, Opportunity, SR etc. - and then recalled from that context i.e. see all Conversations related to an Account. On Track Conversations are then accessible from within Siebel and On Track's web, Outlook and mobile clients.
    There is a pre-req that that customer is using a version of Siebel (8.1) which supports IE8 as On Track is not supported with IE7 or below.
    If you would like to contact me directly I can arrange a demo or if you have internal Oracle access then we have a demo video - let me know.
    Thanks,
    Andy

  • Siebel F9 : Activity not assigned to contact - Outlook 2010

    Hi,
    Our environment change for a new version of Outlook (from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2010)
    In my tests with F9 fonctionnality, I have exactly the same issue as doc ID 1556458.1
    After sending email, activity is not assigned to contacts anymore.
    As I see in doc ID 1556458.1, I change in OFT file "Set oSession = CreateObject("MAPI.Session") to "Set oSession = CreateObject("CDO.Message") but have the same result.
    In log file, I see that parameter "Field: Email To Line" have the name of the contact instead of email...
    Here specifications of my environment:
    Siebel 8.1.1.10
    IE8
    Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 SP2
    Client MS Outlook 2010

  • Siebel Tablet Compatibility

    Greetings Siebel experts,
    At this time, the version of Siebel that we use is version 7.8 and is currently not compatible with any other web browser except for IE 7 and IE8. We are looking to go mobile and my question would be is there any plug in or a way to use Siebel on a tablet and if not, will there be an update to allow this?
    Thanks in advance. :)

    The company I consult for used Siebel SI. SI for 8.1 is actually not bad. I suggest you have a second look if you have only seen the 7.8 version.
    That said, I also found that web-based apps just aren't as enticing as native apps. No matter how fast the data connection is, there is always still a lag in repainting the screens. I have tried using iQTouch to spice up Siebel Wireless, but it still wasn't slick enough for me.
    A partner and I created a native iPhone app: http://wentari.blogspot.ca/2012/02/ropefree-iphone-app-for-siebel-release.html . You can check out the video and there's a link to the app store.
    We did this in our spare time. If there is demand, we may take it further. What makes our approach interesting is that the app does not require any back end integration. I looked at using the REST API but that required setting up a Weblogic instance.

  • Extended Support For Siebel 7.8 post June 2013

    Hello All,
    Considering siebel 7.8 is retiring this year, what are the support options available post retirement. One of our client wants to replace siebel with another tool and have used very limited support in past from oracle. What do you think is the best solution during this transition phase of switching from Siebel to another tool.
    Basically, I am looking for cost efficient and limited support options.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Siebel 8 tools crashes after Edit Layout id clicked

    Hi All,
    I am facing a weird problem. I am working on a Virtual Machine (Windows Xp Sp3 32 bit) which I connect to via Windows 7(32 bit) IE8. I have Siebel 8.1.1.0 Tools and Client. They were working fine till yesterday. But since yesterday whenever i try to 'Edit' either web layout of applets or a workflow process Siebel Tools crashes. Client is working fine.
    Any idea why this happens or any solution to this.
    Note: I have Siebel 7.8 (Tools only) installed in the same drive but different folder.
    Thanks and regards

  • Unable to make Seibel work in windows 7 IE8!

    Hi,
    I am unable to use Siebel in my desktop. I just reinstalled my operating system. I've been given some set of instructions by my employer to use Siebel from home ... but it doesnot seem to work.
    Maybe the instructions are incomplete (because last time i got it done from my employer)
    Instrutcions:
    http://sampark.itgi.co.in/finsechannel_enu
    IE8>Tools>Internet Options> Custom Security>Enable>Enable>Restart.
    This seems incomplete to me...
    What am i missing here?
    PFA screenshot of the error message...

    Thanks. An IT guy from my office takes remote access and does something in IE8 ..
    Here is what i have i guess but i think it is not complete:
    IE8>Tools>Internet Options> Custom Security>Enable>Enable>Restart.
    In these settings i don't know what exactly he "enables".
    Will try what you suggested.
    Thanks again.
    EDIT: It worked! Thanks much. This was quick.

  • Siebel Open UI

    Is any difference in the protocol used and request, response(Content type for communication over network) of Normal Siebel and Siebel OPEN UI?

    Hi
    I found out the following
    1 When Open UI is open, the Browser Script on the Applicaation PreInvoke event fires and scripts are executed.
    2 We have browser script that closes IE8 that is executed when the Application PreInvoke event. It looks like this. It works for Siebel 8.1.1.9 when Open UI is on.
    function Application_PreInvokeMethod (name, inputPropSet)
    // Requirement is to close the browser window on applicaion logout.
    if(name=="Logoff") {
         var wGen = window.top;
         wGen.close();
         return ("CancelOperation");
    return ("ContinueOperation");
    3 This code doesn't work for IE9 and Chrome. We tested this Code in the customer's environment. This code worked with Chrome, ID8, we haven't tested with ID9 yet.
    function WellPoint_Consumer_Financial_Services_Application_PreInvokeMethod (name, inputPropSet)
    if(name=="Logoff") {
         window.open('','_self','');
    window.close();
         return ("CancelOperation");
    return ("ContinueOperation");
    4 We found that Firefox will not allow closing their browser from Browser Script. This opinion is the result of Web Research into this issue.

  • Please Help Siebel High interactivity framework

    I get the *'Your version of the Siebel High Interactivity Framework for IE, required for use of the Siebel application , may not be current. In order to download a current version of the Siebel High Interactivity Framework, please ensure that your browser security settings are correct and then log in to the application again. Consult your system administrator for details about the Siebel High Interactivity Framework and correct browser settings.'*
    My user and I get this when trying to log onto the GE website. Until just a few days ago he had no issues. I have tried on my PC where I know I have admin rights, I have 'enabled' everything that can be enabled, listed the website in trusted sites etc. We rolled back to IE8 from IE9 even to try and get this to install, but we keep getting the same message.
    Does anyone have a solution to this issue?

    It could be that the ActiveX is damaged.
    Are you by any chance working on an upgrade?
    In other words, were you connecting to two different Siebel versions?
    There are some things you can check.
    See the following post on Supportweb: ActiveX Controls do not get downloaded [ID 1065994.1]
    When the ActiveX hasn't been installed yet, what happens when you open the predeploy.htm file?
    http://<host>/<subdir>/predeploy.htm
    And you might want to have a look at the following post:
