Ieframe.dll crashing whenever accessing Address Book

I have been able to reproduce this error whenever we have Internet Explorer 8 installed on a Windows XP SP3 machine, running GroupWise 7.0.4.
The easiest way to reproduce:
New Mail -> Enter user in "To:" Field -> Click on "Subject Line" -> Go Back to "To:" field, and Right-Click on User, and select "Details".
Window will display for a moment, but never display the information, and then subsequently Crash against ieframe.dll (8.00.XXXX).
We are banging our heads against this one, because we tried everything we can think of. Reaimging, Reinstalling both IE8 and GroupWise, rolling back Windows Updates... Nothing seems to be working.

I believe you need GW8 client for IE8 support but I'm not sure.... Try setting Firefox or some other browser as default on the workstation and see if it works better.

  • Access Address Book data from terminal

    Hi everyone,
I was wondering if there is a way to access Address Book data from the terminal. For instance, I would
need a command that would output an address of a given person.
Thanks in advance for your input

this script could be used in Terminal (save the code below as
"getaddress" and mark it as executable):
    case $# in
    2) firstname=$1; lastname=$2;;
    *) echo 'Usage: getaddress <firstname> <lastname>' 1>&2; exit 1 ;;
    esac
count=`osascript -e "tell application \"Address Book\" to count (people whose first name is \"${firstname}\" and last name is \"${lastname}\")"`
    case $count in
    0) echo "$firstname $lastname is not in Address Book." 1>&2; exit 1;;
    1) ;;
    *) echo "There are multiple entries for $firstname $lastname in Address Book (unhandled error)." 1>&2; exit 1;;
    esac
osascript -e "tell application \"Address Book\" to get formatted address of address of first person whose first name is \"${firstname}\" and last name is \"${lastname}\""

  • Access Address Book from other applications

    Hi there,
How can I access Address Book information from other applications (notably the command line, OpenOffice, etc.)?
In particular, is there a command line utility to access and edit the Address Book?
    Thanks!
    Brian

One of the best answers would have been the CPAN module: Mac::Glue. Cheers.

  • Cannot access address book following archive and install

Following an archive and install with 10.5.8 I find that when attempting to access Address Book, Font Book, Text Edit and Time Machine I get the following admonition on the screen, " You can't open the application because it is not supported on this architecture."
How can I restore these applications?

Sdgardne, thank you so much! Using your post and links I was able to restore my address book after upgrading my software and having trouble with my address book. And I am very technologically challenged so I appreciate having something I could understand and follow.

  • Just moved from PC to iMac-Mavericks and Tbird now crashes when I try to access Address Books.

When entering an email address, Tbird apparently checks address books since it gives me a list of possible addressees as I enter the name. But when I click on the Address Book icon to get in to make a change or new entry, I get an error saying Tbird has encountered a problem and crashed. My options are to quit or restart Tbird. When restarting all is fine again.
I just moved my email, address books, etc to an iMac (first time on such a machine) and thought I'd gotten everything moved per instructions, but apparently did something wrong.

The problem appears to be Reminder Fox. The other add-ons I have are Adblock Plus, Extra Folder Columns, Test Pilot for Tbird and View About. Disabling just Reminder gave me back direct access to the Address Books; toggling others off and on had no effect.
I guess the question now is why. I assume that it there must be something odd about my set up and its interaction with Reminder, or more people would be having this problem. Although I'm content to operate without Reminder, if someone wants to work with me to identify the specific source of the problem, I'm game to do it, but it's not something I'm capable of doing on my own.
Thanks again very much for your help. What a relief to have the Address Books back!

  • How can I access Address Book data from an older version of the application to transfer it to a newer version of Mac OS running on a second hard drive on the same MDD G4?

I installed a hard drive from one PowerPC Dual 1.25 GHz MDD into another one with an older version of the OS X.  all my Address Book data are on the older hard drive, from which I now boot the computer.  When I launch Address Book as an app on the hard drive with the newer version of the OS, I get an error message that says I cannot run the version of Address Book from the older hard drive on the newer OS.  How can I access the data on the older hard drive version of the Address Book app so that I can transfer it to the newer version of the app on the boot drive?  The "Import" functionality will not work. I will be grateful for any help I can get.  I would also like to uninstall the older version of OS X from the older hard drive.

Boot from the older version of OSX, then in AB use the File>Export>Export vCard after selecting all in AB.
Then boot from the new OSx & use the new AB to import that VCF file.

  • Cannot access address book after software update

I am unable to access the default address book after doing the software update - I restored my backup and everything is there except for my contacts.  When I open my address book it is labeled personal and there are no addresses and when I add a contact it does not show up, but I noticed when I go into options it shows only default under address books with 99 entries and when I try to add a contact it does not show in the list on my phone but the number of entries in the default book goes up so they are going into that one but I cannot access it?  Any idea how I can get my contact list back? (hope this makes sense to someone )
    Thank you

  • Access address book on iphone without syncing?

The screen has stopped working on my girlfriends iphone and she needs to access her contacts before it's replaced tomorrow, is there a way of accessing the address book without having to sync it to my computer as her mac is at home? I dont want to have to sync her phone with my mac as that will erase all her music etc and she's not sure when she last backed it up on her mac!

I think you can use your Mac, as her iPhone will be a new device. Look in the 'Reader Tips' tab on syncing to a new computer. You have to jump through a few pretty easy hoops, and then you have a backup on the new computer (yours) with the old iPhone content (hers).
    EDIT: here's the link: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
However, I would think that the Apple Store that is replacing the iPhone would be able to transfer the content, also.

  • Access Address Book

I would like to list the user´s address book details
(name and number of each contact) in my app. The user would then
choose a contact and my app would send an sms.
Is it possible to access a device´s address book with
    flash lite? If yes, how?

    Hi forum.newbie,
This is not possible directly through Flash Lite. I don't
even think its possible using a symbian/java app either, due to
    security issues.

  • Access Address Book from Menu Bar ?

There used to be a few utilities that allowed access to the Address Book from the menu bar, but they haven't been updated for years.
Anyone know of a good solution?

Yeah, I thought that too, but reinstalling iAddressX did not help. The utility didn't work (and also did not create any new files in the Application Support/AddressBook folder).
I don't think iAddressX was interfering with the Address Book, since I've been using them both under Leopard since day 1 of Leopard. My sync problems developed just a few days ago. I was just wondering if I deleted something that was needed for iAddressX to work (or worse, will cause me other problems down the road).

  • Access address book of yahoo from Java Progam

I am working on an application for which I need help.
The application retrieves the contents of 'address book' when provided with login information of yahoo or any other email account. Can somebody let me know the way to do it??
I believe that for different email service providers, the method to access the address-book would be different. Can anybody leads to any of the service providers??
    Thanks

    Yahoo might...

It likely would be, if it's supported at all. Ask the support department of your service provider.

  • Spam email accessed address book forwarding to selected addresses!?

Hi users! I have recently received a spam mail from a friend. He assured me that he had never sent it! When i looked at the details of the message, i noticed that it had been sent to a few other people we know... Is this possible? I believed that an email can only be sent by actually clicking on "send". So, knowing that he received the spam in the first place, did not forward it, how is it possible that me and some other recipients have got it? Should i believe him? Or are spammers this good now? Can they actually access the address book and forward their rubbish to others without us knowing? Anyone else had a similar experience? Would appreciate any suggestions, Thanks!

I believed that an email can only be sent by actually clicking on "send".
Alas, you are mistaken. Once a computer is infected, it can run programs that send emails all over the world without your knowledge.
So, knowing that he received the spam in the first place, ...
That is not necessarily the case, but is liklely.
Can \[spammers] actually access the address book and forward their rubbish to others without us knowing?
Once your computer is infected, YES, absolutely! That is why there is so much hand-wringing in the Windoze world. Viruses can control parts of your computer and send mountains of spam without your knowledge.

  • Mail crashing due to address book or autofill corruption

I'm trying to fix an iMac core duo where Mail crashes every time you try to write a new mail. When typing in the "To:" field a few characters, Mail.app crashes.
It's related to the autofill feature, as when it's deactivated, it works fine.
However, opening the "previous recipients" window also makes it crash.
I tried to clean the caches for both Mail and Address Book without result.

In Address Book, select "All" and then File/Export Group vCard and save the cards on your desktop. Quit Address Book.
Open folder ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook and drag the file AddressBook.data (and, if present, AddressBook.data.previous and AddressBook.data.beforeave) to the desktop.
Try mail to see if the crashing is cured. If it is open AB and use File/Import to pull back in the vCards you exported earlier. If not, you may as well put the .data files back where you got them (quit AB first).

  • How to access address book that is not on startup drive

I have an external hard drive that is from an old computer of mine. How do I access the address book on that drive without making it my startup drive first?
    Thanks.

    easy on all caps there
you can do the following to combine address books. start Address book, select all the contacts currently in your address book and drag them to the desktop. that will create one big vcard with those contacts. then quit address book and replace the folder that I told you about with the one from the backup drive. start address book. it will look like it did on the backup drive. drop the vcard you have on the desktop onto the address book. the addresses will be imported.
warning: this procedure will migrate all addresses but will destroy any groups and smart groups you currently have in AB.

  • Cannot access address book contacts in yahoo mail. Firefox 4. Contacts list will not load. With Windows Explorer, no problem.

Recently, yahoo mail upgraded their program. When I try to access my contacts (address book) the contacts list won't load. The little spinning icon just keeps spinning. I think this is a Firefox problem because Internet Explorer works okay. Also, I have problems accessing some secure sites using Firefox 4, but not with Explorer. I prefer Firefox. How can I resolve this?

I have no access to my Yahoo contacts. I cannot search or browse them. The only way I can get ONE is by adding the contact from an email. Then, if I ask to see more contacts either through the partial alphabet buttons or to see the entire list of contacts, I'm back to the same search page where NOTHING happens. Did I say this is VERY frustrating?? HELP
