Iexplore.exe - Application error (0x0eedfade) Runtime error 217
I have had error messages appear on my screen as I begin to shut it down. The first says: Iexplore.exe -Application error (0x0eedfade) 0x7c812a5b and the second says: Runtime error 217 at 0473F48E
What do they mean?
Yesterday my notebook shut down in the middle of me using it and then whenever I tried to re-start it again (even in safe mode) it shut down again before I got the chance. Today I've managed to restart the computer but I did have the same messages appear earlier today as I was shuting down the computer.
Hi
It looks like the Microsoft internet explorer has caused an error.
I found somewhere an advice that this could happen after IE 7 update and Norton Antivir application.
Did you remove the Norton antivirus???
I have noticed that this software makes the notebook slower. I used this several months ago. Not Im using the Freeware tool called Antivir. Its great and for free!!!
After Norton uninstalling please be sure that all files were removed!!!! The Norton Removal Tool can helps

Jinitiator - SysFader: iexplore.exe – Application Error
I have installed 10g Express edition. I am taking a class and have a book, which came with Oracle Developer Suite 10g. I have installed the software. I am trying to follow the book and when I try to open a form, location.fmb file I receive an error message.
SysFader: iexplore.exe – Application Error
The instructions at “0x0504e348” referenced memory at ‘0x000000c”. The memory could not be “read’.
I am not sure the Jinitiator is the cause of the error but that was the last piece of software that was installed. I have look all over the Web and maybe I am not looking or searching correctly but the only thing I can find that seems reasonable was about the Jinitiator. I have downloaded what seems to be a later version, 1.3.1.29. The version that installed during the opening of the form was 1.3.1.22. For some reason I am unable to get the program to use the new Jinitiator which I installed. I did uninstall the older version, I did start OC4J, I did login. The program still wants to install the older version. Not sure where to go from here. Any advise would be appreciated.Sorry, I forgot to give more info: The book I am using is Guide to Oracle 10g by Course Technology. I started OC4J. Once OC4J initialized I started Forms Builder. Once Form Builder loads, I select Open then select the file Location.fmb. Now I try to run the form by selecting Run per the instructions in the book. It asks me to login, which I do, then I select connect. Now iexplorer loads automatically and give me the error message:
SysFader: iexplore.exe – Application Error
The instruction at “0x04f9e348” referenced memory at “0x0000000c”. The memory could not be “read’.
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
I have no idea how to debug the program and I am not sure this is what I should do anyways.
I have two entries in Outlooks Manage Add-ons: JInitiator 1.3.1.22 and 1.3.1.28. I removed version 1.3.1.22 hoping that it would use 1.3.1.28 but when I try to open the file, it tells me that I have to install JInitiator. I say yes, and it installs version 1.3.1.22 again. I get the same error message. I do not understand why it will not use the new version 1.3.1.28. Any help would be appreciated. -

IEXPLORE.EXE - Application Error in Crystal Reports XI
IEXPLORE.EXE - Aplication Error
X The instruction at "0x42fc2af2" referenced memory at "0x43686d0c". the memory could not be "read".
I work in IT and not directly with this software. A user needed an upgraded computer with this software installed and consequesntly is getting this error message when trying to 'Enter Values' with the Calendar button. Calendar pops up, select a date, and error message appears.
I have noticed that if Internet Explorer is open in another window, the error message is not encountered. Could it be a setting in Explorer with scripts or activeX controls?
Windows XP SP3, IE 7. Latest updates.
Crystal Reports XI Professional ver 11.0.0.895 (could be out of date, updater not connecting...)We have a simple .net application to open our crystal reports. one of the computer has the same problem as Evan ie. when user click on the Calendar button, click any date then error message displayed:
IEXPLORE.EXE - Aplication Error
X The instruction at "0x42fc2af2" referenced memory at "0x43686d0c". the memory could not be "read".
Similarly when IE is open, error message will not displayed.
I had tried changing the Microsoft Virtual Memory but it does not seems to help.
Anyone with any advice or solution is greatly appreciated. -

Edited by: 889224 on Nov 30, 2011 8:40 AMPlease always mention 4 digit version numbers (e.g. 10.1.2.0.2) as well as Operation System, Browser and Java Versions.
Just taking a lucky guess here, but if you are using the default config of forms 10.1.2 on a nowadays OS you have a combo of JInit and IE8 which isn't supposed to work and most likely to crash. If this is the case then use a current Sun JPI instead: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/forms/documentation/forms-jre-131772.pdf
If this is not the case then...well...you might give us a more deeper insight in what you do so we can get an idea what's going wrong.

Could you check the "event log" on the operating system level? You may need to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributables. Check the note 684106 - Microsoft runtime DLLs

HI
when i am trying to open MSWord following message pop up and i can't open MSword any more:
WINWORD.EXE -Application Error The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click ok to close the application.
Please adviseHi,
Does Word start in Safe Mode?
Press Win key + R, type "winword.exe /safe" in the blank box, press Enter.
If Word can start in Safe Mode, the issue should be related to 3rd-party add-ins, disable the suspicious add-ins to determine which one caused the problem.
You can also try repairing Office from Control Panel -> Programs and Features, check if this helps.

Hi all,
After updating our acceptence Windows 7 SP1 clients (april updates). We are unable to login the machine.
Error: userinit.exe - Application Error : The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000018)
After rebooting the machine 2times I'm able to login. When I shutdown the machine at the next boot i'm getting the same error again and i'm not able to logon.
I have no idea where to start. One by one uninstalling updates isn't an option because after a reboot it seems ok.
Any idea's? Help is welcome.

Uninstalling
KB3045999 works as a workaround like Wastashi said. We too have this problem.
@Karen Hu: Startup repair didn't find anything here and this is probably because the system boots properly but only after a user logs in the "Error: userinit.exe - Application Error : The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000018)"
appears. Safe mode works however and after I disabled all the startup items and rebooted I could successfully logon once, but this could be coincidence because sometimes after a reboot you can login as pointed out by Tim NL. However a few seconds
after I successfully logged in and saw the desktop, the pc rebooted spontaneously. Any idea what this could be causing? Virus scanner maybe?
