IExplorer open xml as read only

Hi!
We have two problem...
When we save an excel file, as an XML file...
it doesn't save
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1250" ?>
to the first line..
So we get error when we provide UTF-8..
Second.. (the worst problem)
When we open xml files from WebDav as a link..it opens only as read only file (because the file goes to temporary internet files)
u,
When we open xml files.. from File menu..open..
it could be opened as read/write...
and can be saved back to repository....
Any clue?
Viktor

  • My Finder is opening folders in Read-Only Mode.

    When I click on Finder. A folder is opening in read only mode. When I open any folders in it, then a new window is opened again in read only mode.
    Just the "New Finder Window" is having this problem.
    Please help me out with my problem. I want the Finder to open windows normally rather than in read only modes.

    Problems such as yours are sometimes caused by files that should belong to you but are locked or have wrong permissions. This procedure will check for such files. It makes no changes and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem.
    First, empty the Trash.
    Triple-click the line below to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    find ~ $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 -o -acl \) 2> /dev/null | wc -l
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). The command may take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
    The output of this command, on a line directly below what you entered, will be a number such as "41." Please post it in a reply.

  • Error when opening XLSX file with Excel 2003 SP3, file does open but in read only mode with temporary name

    I am using Excel 2003 SP3 and have the Office 2007 compatibility pack installed.  When I open Office 2007 formatted Excel files (XSLX) directly in Windows Explorer, I receive the following error if I do not have Excel already opened:
    "Windows cannot find '<path to file>'.  Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again.  To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search."
    Even though I receive the error, the file does open; however, it opens in Read Only mode with a name such as "Xl0000024.xls".  The number seems to increment up each time it happens.
    Now here is the strange part.  If I have Excel already open and try to open the file in Windows Explorer, the file opens fine in Modify mode with no error and with the correct file name.
    I Googled the error I was getting and found KB211494.  It says I should uncheck the box in Options on the General tab that says "Ignore other applications", but this box is already unchecked in my case.  Any other ideas?  This is
    really frustrating as a small percentage of our company has upgraded to Office 2007 with the rest still on Office 2003.

    This may be a file association problem.  To solve that:
    In Windows 7:
    1. Right-click the file,
    2. Select "Open With"
    select [Your Program Here]
    3. Check always use this program.
    In Windows XP:
    1. Locate the file as you have described above
    2. Right click the file
    3. Select Open with from the pop-up menu
    4. Click Choose default program…
    5. Select Excel in the Recommended Programs box
    6. Check Always use the selected program to open this kind of file
    7. Click on OK.
    1.  Make Excel not available from Office 2007 listed under Programs and Features in Control Panel.
    2. Take a registry backup using the steps given here
    3. In the registry editor window expand HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and navigate to .xls right and delete it.
    4. Exit Registry Editor
    5. Undo Step 1 to make Excel available.
    6.  Restart the computer and verify it the issue is fixed.

  • Acrobat X: browser plug-in always opens PDFs as read-only

    Hi all
    I have just installed the trial of Acrobat Pro X on my Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit PC. Prior to this I uninstalled other PDF software (Acrobat 7 and Foxit Reader).
    The problem is that the setting in Acrobat preferences to NOT open PDFs in my browser as read-only seems to have no effect.
    Specifically the setting is at Edit > Preferences > Internet > Web browser options > Display in read mode by default
    Whether this is checked or unchecked, PDFs viewed in either browser on my PC (IE8 or Firefox 3) are opened in read-only mode. One very inconvenient consequence of this is that I cannot annotate PDFs in my browser.
    I tried running Acrobat as administrator and changing the setting, but this similarly had no effect.
    I expect I will be met by a wall of silence if I attempt to get help about this from Adobe as a lowly trial user -- but it's crucial to deciding whether I want to buy the upgrade to Acrobat X. Can anyone reproduce the issue?
    Thanks...

    That option is nothing to do with the PDF being editable, it's to control the display of the toolbars. "Reading Mode" is when the toolbars are hidden and the black head-up display navigation bar appears at the bottom of the screen.
    PDFs displayed within a web browser with Acrobat/Reader X are not editable, nor can you apply markups, unless you're within a browser-based-review workflow. You have to save a copy locally and open it in desktop mode to make any changes.

  • Open CRMM_ACCOUNT in Read-Only-Mode

    hi,
    i want to open the application CRMM_ACCOUNT out of a bsp application in a new window. Ok, no problem... (thanks to all the posts before )
    BUT: How can i open the Account in read only mode?
    yours Michael

    Hello,
    If you look into the standard of MAC CL_BSP_ACC_ACCMOD, you will find in read method of super class CL_BSP_BP_ACCMOD the following coding :
      Activity "display": don't allow to change anything
        IF gv_activity = gc_activity-display.
          CALL METHOD cl_bsp_bp_global_service=>set_field_attr
            EXPORTING
              iv_object_key            = ls_object-object_key
              iv_screen_structure_name = iv_screen_structure_name
              iv_field_property        = gc_no_change
            CHANGING
              ct_field_attribute       = et_field_attribute
              ct_dd03p                 = gt_dd03p.
        ENDIF.
    So, the only way to put the account application in display is to work on the fields attributes.

  • Office 2013 opens file in read only mode

    I have a client on Windows 8.1 Pro using Office 2013. When he access an office file from a network drive it opens in read only. When he saves the file to his desktop using save as it lets him open the file again in compatibility mode but he is unable to
    then overwrite the file on the network folder. It keeps giving him a permission error. I have deleted his profile, changed settings in office trust center settings and checked folder permisisons. I am out of ideas. Can anyone help me out here.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.

    When I try to move files over to the drive it says I do not have required permissions to overwrite or move a file. On a different computer he has full access but not on this one. Also the settings in trust center settings for file blocking and trusted locations
    also privacy.

  • OAF: *PG.xml is read-only. Unable to extend the LOVRN to add lovmappings

    Hello All,
    I am trying to extend the PG.xml to add additional lovmappings using JDev. But the PG.xml is readonly. Unable to create new items on lovmappings!
    I have imported all the server.xml for the VO extension. That worked fine. ( I tried to add the new lovmappings using Personalization but with NO LUCK! ).
    So, now I am trying to add the lovmappings using JDev and am unable to create new lovmappings! The whole PG.xml is readonly (except the Privacy and others on the footer! ).
    So I opened only the PG.xml and the concerned LovRN.xml from myprojects/oracle/apps directory! along with all the myclasses/oracle/apps xml files.
    So Do I need to bring in anything else into my project to make the lovmapping to create new items ???
    Please help...
    Thanks,
    Francis

    Ramkumar,
    This is what I am trying to do!
    I extended the LovVO and deployed it successfully to application. I could see and use the newly added fields in the LOV region. That works fine.
    The requirement is:
    I want to populate the newly added field values from Lov region to the base page. This is what I did.
    1. Added the 2 new "Message Styled Text" items (from the extended VO) in the LOV region ( But not rendedred! )
    2. Added 2 new "Message Styled Text" items on the base page to populate the values from the LOV region.
    3. On the base page, personalizing the LOV (lovMappings) to inherit the values from the LOV region.
    >> Created 2 new lovmappings to inherit the 2 new values from the LOV region extended VO. ( Here the "LOV Region Item" {the itemID from the LOV region that I want to bring back and populate} and "Return Item" {the itemID on the base page that I want the value to get populated} are the only fields I entered other than the ID column! )
    5. Bounced the apache.
    -- After doing this, logged back in and tried the LOV, it doesn't populate the inherited values to the newly created items on the base page.
    Thanks for all the help.

  • My ID document opens as a Read-Only and won't allow me to edit or Save As...

    All the sudden I cannot edit a document that I have been working on for weeks. I can't Save As and I can't Save any edits. What gives?

    When I tried to export this as an IDML I discovered that my target disk had somehow become locked/inaccessible. When I just saved the file to another disk, it seemed to save just fine. I suppose this was the problem all along. I'll have to investigate that further. Thanks for the prompt!

    I know it's a very old issue and I reached to this page looking for a solution. Finally, I have found a fix to this problem.
    The problem is that we create an instance of Word and do not close it correctly. This makes program believe that the file is already open and hence you're getting the respective message of file being locked by you.
    Set the visibility of your application to true and then when you close it both file and instance should close and you will not get the problem again.

  • Open a document in read only mode

    HI All,
    I created a panel in which we have
    edit box which shows the document path
    Browse button to allow a user to select an indesign document
    "Open read only" button.
    My requirement is that after selecting an Indesign document if user click to "OPen read only" button then it will opened selected document in read only mode.
    I will be highly thankfull to all community memeber if anyone can give me some hint to achieve this.
    Regards,
    Alam

    Alam,
    If you change the attributes of the file before opening it to read only the file will be opened as read only by Indesign. And then you could place a responder that could clear this read only flag when the file is being closed so that the permissions are restored to the original state.
