If all the photos from my iPhone 4s Camera Roll show up in iPhoto under Library- Photos, is it safe to delete them from the iPhone and not risk losing them?
I am getting messages about being out of space on my phone for taking any more photos. I am scared to delete anything with all the photo stream and syncing that happens cause I don't want the photo to delete in many places at the same time.
So, 1) when is it safe to delete from the iPhone? 2) I feel like I have multiple copies of photos stored between the phone, Photos Library in iPhoto and all my albums in iPhoto. Is there a best practice document on how to manage your photos for space savings?
I've looked, but can't find my answer clearly in the forums.
IF you have successfully imported your pictures to your Mac http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 then it's safe to delete it from your phone.
If you want the pics back on your phone, just sync them back using itunes http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236

Unless someone physically deleted those, you describing practically impossible situation. Even deleting from camera roll would delete from photostream possibly, but not if you manually put those in dropbox and they had time to upload.

First of all, you should always save you photos on computer like any other digital camera.
Backup on iCloud or iTunes only backup your Camera Roll. The other photos should be already on the computer.
Note: Photos are not saved in iTunes, it's only a conduit between your iPhone and your photo managing software on computer.

Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. When there are photos/videos in the iPhone's Camera Roll, it is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer.
With a Mac, you can use iPhoto for this if you use iPhoto for photo management on your Mac. If not, you can use the Image Capture application for the import. Both include an option to delete all photos/videos from the Camera Roll after the import process is complete. -

Tapping? If I tap the Photos icon it goes to the Photos List. If I tap the Photos icon in the multitask bar it goes to the Photos List. What the heck does your taping do that mine doesn't?
I just reset the phone last week, it didn't change this situation.
The only thing I see that shaking icons do is enable to move them around on the iphone desktop windows.

It's just simple as creating an event/album in the iPhoto, with the photos you would like to have in your iPhone.
Then, on iTunes you chose to synchronise with the iPhone that specific photo event/albun, instead of all the library.
And that's it!

I have this exact same issue. Replaced my iPhone 4s with the new iPhone 5s, setting up my new iPhone 5s to restore from iCloud. This completed and now I am unable to delete my old iPhone 4s iCloud backup (consuming 15.1 GB of my 20GB allocation). How can I delete it, so that I get my 15 GB back? You do understand though, that if something happened to your phone - if you lost it, if it were stolen, if you dropped it and were unable to access it, if it got wet - all those pictures that you had not transferred to your computer would no longer be so "handy." Just saying, I have not only read that horror story from many users on this forum, but have seen it live from many users in my own life. Do yourself a favor and back them up sooner rather than later by transferring them all now. Trust me on this, you won't regret it.

How to copy photos/videos back to iPhone's Camera Roll?
Genius bar told me to reset my 3GS to try solving an unrelated problem, but they mentioned I should save my photos first. I copied the photos and videos from the Iphone/Internal Storage/DCIM/100Apple directory onto my PC's hard drive.
However, after I reset the iphone, I found that I cannot copy the files back into the iPhone's /100Apple directory. What gives? The device/folder is not listed as read-only, but I'm still not allowed to copy the photos back.
I should note that I am not interested in syncing the photos as an album through itunes, I want the iphone photos and videos back in the Camera Roll. Is there a way to do this?A reset is just holding the power and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and ignoring the slide to power off screen. This is mearly a reboot like a computer. A restore wipes the phone, reinstalls the OS and the native apps. If you restore from a backup, it then takes the backup it made of the phone and resinstalls all of that data. If you restore as a new phone, all it does is reinstall the OS and native apps and the phone is like it was when you bought it, except it will have the latest OS if there has been a change since you bought it. Many times, if someone has some type of problem with the phone,it can be traced back to corruption in a file, and restoring from a backup will just restore the corrupted file. Restoring as new allows to start fresh.
As I mentioned earlier, leaving photos in the camera roll can be dangerous as you run the risk of losing them, as you have seen. The ability to copy items into the camera roll folder is like copying material into the OS, and Apple has not allowed that in the past. That is why they designed the syncing of pictures to the photo library. Another issue that has cropped up lately is the fact that some pictures saved from the Internet, MMS or email into the camera roll has caused some issues with the iPhone being recognized by the computer as having pictures on it. It becomes necessary to delete those photos to enable photo importing again. Something else to be mindful of until they fix it. Just a good idea to import the photos so you have them in case of a failure on the phone. -
Why is my iPhone Camera Roll using 10.0 GB but my Photo Library only using 6.3 GB?
When I look at usage in my iPhone, Camera Roll is using 10.0 GB, but Photo Library is only using 6.3 GB. I do not have Photo Stream enabled. Why the difference?
In my case, Camera Roll is just the pictures taken on my phone and the remainder of the photos on my phone were synced from my computer via iTunes and are under "Photo Library". If you go to Photos and then tap Albums at the bottom right, it will show which pictures are in the Camera Roll. My Camera Roll usage is much smaller than Photo Library as I only have 2 pictures there since I regularly import them to my computer where I have more control and extra backup capability. I then sync back some that I want to also have on the phone.

In the photos app I have 2 camera rolls and 1 photo gallery. Each new photo that I take gets stored in one of the camera rolls, but when I back up the photos to my computer it only backs up the one camera roll, and not any of the new picks. In the one I backed up I have 500 plus photos and the other over 1000. I need to back up the 1000 one- camera roll. Any help would be sincerely appreciated. Help .... Please

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. I accidentally deleted documents from Pages on my iphone - and now they won't show up on my mac anymore either. I must have saved them just on icloud and not on my mac, too. is there anyway to recover these documents?
On a mac, when you save docs to icloud, a local copy is also saved. It's saved at:
~/Library/Mobile Documents
Note that Library in the user's home folder is now hidden, so you'll have to set Finder to view hidden files.
The Mobile Documents folder has subfolder where copies of the doc/data files are stored.
If the file(s) are no longer there, then use your Time Machine backups to get copies back to the mac. -
I can't backup my iPhone 5. It says I don't have enough storage. So I've deleted like 6-7 apps and its still says I don't have enough storage. And it also says the same thing when I want to buy new apps or music. Also my messages won't send; I have to turn my phone off and resend then just to they can send. I can't even take any pictures because it says I have no storage.(I currently have 1,658 photos and 72 videos by the way.) What can I do? I just my phone in late December. I didn't think it would act up this bad before I even had it for a year. Please help.
Your phone needs more storage, buying storage on iCloud.com doesn't change that.
Delete some of the stuff off of your phone, it's full.
