If AME 2014 no longer allows .flv export, how am I supposed to import videos to the stage for use in Flash CC?

Flash CC will notimport .mp4 videos for use on the stage, only .flv. This seems like an ENORMOUS oversight, so maybe I am missing something. But if I'm not missing anything, WHEN THE **** WILL ADOBE UPDATE FLASH TO MATCH THE STUPID FORCED WORKFLOW UPDATE THEY'VE DONE WITH AME AND AFTER EFFECTS? I HAVE TO USE SOME RANDOM 3RD PARTY WEBSITE TO CONVERT .MOV OR .MP4 FILES TO .FLV FOR USE IN FLASH!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!?

This forum is for Flash Media Server Developers so most likely you migth get much traction here. I would recommend you to post your query on Flash Builder forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/flash_builder/using_flash_builder

Previous contact information with your organization (DURIM):
Dennis - i just finished my audition trial and bought the subscription the 2014 version.

DURIM - Okay.  I would expect the "Cache Warning" message because your default directories would not be the same as the ones in the settings file I generated.
If you go back to the "7.0" directory and open the "Logs" folder, can you copy the "Audition Log.txt" file and send it as an attachment to [email protected]?  We'll take a look in that logfile and see if it gives us more information about why this is failing now.
Also, do you have any other Adobe applications installed on this machine, such as Premiere Pro?  If so, do they launch as expected or fail as well?
I do have the trial Pro version of Adobe reader, but I have not activated it, because I fear the same thing will happen did it. I cannot afford to activate the subscription for that product and take the chance of it not working either. I depend on those two programs religiously. Here is the files that you requested. I appreciate any help you can give me to get this audition program started

In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
*do not clear the Site Preferences
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/remove-browsing-search-and-download-history
Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.
If you have software like Advanced SystemCare (Surfing Protection feature) that might reset some files to older versions to protect these files against changes then check the settings or uninstall this software.

  • Problem exporting FXG file for use in Flash

I have a simple rectangle with a 3D-bevel effect built in Illustrator that I need to export as an FXG file for use in Flash.
When I export from Illustrator to an FXG format, it creates bitmaps and embeds those in the FXG file.
if  i import directly into Flash CS5 there are transparent gaps (and the  symbols created are very complex), and it warns me that the objects  aren't compatible with flash and they should be converted to bitmaps  first.
Is there a way to export the object to an FXG file and keep it in a vector format?
if  not, and this may be an Illustrator question, is there a way to create  the same kind of effect so that I can get an end FXG object that will  work in Flash?
An example of what I am seeing is posted here: http://idg-partners.com/flash_issue.html
    Thanks in advance.

Is there a way to export the object to an FXG file and keep it in a vector format?
Create the bevel edges as separate objects with gradient fills. not sure why you need AI, though. You can do that jsut the same directly in Flash...

It's not like playing a tape. It has to convert it from whatever format you currently have into a codec suitable for editing (Apple Intermediate). This will take longer or shorter depending how compressed your original format is, and on the ability of your CPUs to catch up.

  • Export/Import Process in the UI for Variations Content Translation is Generating CMP Files with No XML

We have a SharePoint 2010 Publishing Website that uses variations to deliver contain to multiple languages. We are using a third-party translation company to translate publishing pages. The pages are
exported using the  export/import using the UI process described here: "http://blogs.technet.com/b/stefan_gossner/archive/2011/12/02/sharepoint-variations-the-complete-guide-part-16-translation-support.aspx".
Certain sub-sites are extremely content-intensive. They may contain many items in the Pages library as well as lists and other sub-sites.
For some sub-sites (not all), the exported CMP file contains no XML files. There should be a Manifest.XML, Requirements.XML, ExportSettings.XML, etc., but there are none. After renaming the CMP file
to CAB and extracting it, the only files it contains are DAT files.
The only difference I can see between the sub-sites that generate CMP files with no XML files is size. For example, there is one site that is 114 MB that produces a CMP file with no XML files. Small
sites do not have this problem. If size is the problem, then I would think the process would generate an error instead of creating a single CMP file that contains only DAT files. However, I do not know exactly what the Export/Import Process in the UI is doing.
    This leads to two questions:
    1.
Does anyone know why some CMP files, when renamed to *.CAB and extracted, would not contain the necessary XML files?
    2. Second, if exporting using the UI will not work, can I use PowerShell? I have tried the Export-SPWeb, but the Manifest.XML does not contain translatable
content. I have not found any parameters that I can use with Export-SPWeb to cause the exported CMP to be in the same format as the one produced by the Export/Import process in the UI.
As a next step, we could try developing custom code using the Publishing Service, but before doing this, I would like to understand why the Export/Import process in the UI generates a CMP that
    contains no XML files.
If no one can answer this question, I would appreciate just some general help on understanding exactly what is happening with the Export/Import Process -- that is, the one that runs when you select
the export or import option in the Site Manager drop down. Understanding what it is actually doing will help us troubleshoot why there are no XML files in certain export CMPs and assist with determining an alternate approach.
    Thanks in advance

I wanted to bump this post to see about getting some more responses to your problem. I'm running into the same problem as well. We're running a SharePoint 2010 site and are looking at adding variations now. The two subsites with the most content take a
while to generate the .cmp file (one to two minutes of the browser loading bar spinning waiting on the file). Both files are generated with a lot of .dat files but no .xml files. I was thinking like you that it must be a size issue. Not sure though. Did you
ever happen to find a solution to this problem?

  • I have an ipad, and want into replace my laptop with it. Is there a way of running iTunes from my ipad to allow me to put music onto my old ipad classic without the need for a computer.

Please help me on this issue. I have the latest full size ipad with retina display and want to replace my old hp laptop with it. I currently run an iPod classic and nano from the iTunes on it, but i want to run them off my ipad. Is this possible.

The iPad is not a computer, it cannot replace one, and it cannot sync music or media to other devices.
You need to keep a computer around if you want  to sync ther Classic and Nano. It may also be useful if you ever need to backup the iPad in case a restore is necessarry.

  • Adobe CC and .flv export

    Hello,
Yesterday, i tried to export some videos in .FLV format. It was a big surprise to see that those codecs don't exist anymore.
Looking for some answers, i find this:
After Effects CC 2014 (13.0), Premiere Pro CC 2014 (8.0), and Adobe Media Encoder CC 2014 (8.0) do not include exporters for creating FLV and F4V files.
You can still import videos in FLV and F4V formats into After Effects and Adobe Media Encoder. You can still import videos in the F4V format into Premiere Pro.
If you want to create a video to play in Flash Player, then you should generally be using H.264 (.mp4), not the obsolete FLV or F4V formats. This has been the recommendation from the Adobe Flash team for quite some time already (as far back as Flash Player 9).
We removed the exporters for FLV and F4V files from the Adobe video applications (Adobe Media Encoder, After Effects, and Premiere Pro) because maintaining these obsolete exporters was a large amount of work, and we could better spend that effort on developing new features and fixing bugs in areas that are used by more people.
We are still committed to creating video files that play well in Flash Player, and that is why we are focusing our efforts on the H.264 (.mp4) exporter, which is what is currently recommended by the Adobe Flash team.
If you do still have a need to create FLV or F4V files for some legacy workflows, then we recommend that you keep the previous versions—Adobe Media Encoder CC (7.2) and After Effects CC (12.2.1)–installed alongside the current versions. Then, whenever you need to transcode or export a file in one of these legacy formats, you can just start the previous version of the application for this specific purpose.
I can see issues with this two solutions:
    - H.264 is heavier than .FLV and i'am not sur but i don't think you can export with RGB Alpha with this settings.
    - Working with old program versions is a cheap solutions: you are not supported by Adobe if you don't have the last update. :/
Anyway, as annouced, Adobe don't want to use this codec anymore. The good way is to find an other workflow to replace the FLV codec.
Have you already met this problem? What was your solutions?
    Best regards,
    Nicolas.

    Hello Rick,
    Thanks for your replie!
"You can easily embed an h.264 MP4 in flash and with proper authoring have a Mobile compatible product. There is really no loss here, only a gain in quality and functionality.
Maybe, but a video in h.264 still heavier than a flv video, isn't it? And forget about using transparency.
I'am not agains't evolution... i'm just looking for a new solution of a better workflow..
And now, h264 doesn't match the functionalities we need :/

  • Upgraded to CS4 and now no FLV export plugin in Quicktime

When using CS3 Master Collection (on Mac 10.5.6) I could use Quicktime or Apple Compressor (uses QT) to export .mov files to .flv files. Then I upgraded to CS4 Master Collection and everything still worked. Then I got tired of having all the CS3 programs still on my computer so I used the CS3 disc to uninstall CS3. Later I noticed the Flash export within Quicktime was gone. So I put back CS3 install disc and just installed the Flash export components and then the .flv export was back on Quicktime. Though I solved the problem, shouldn't CS4 (upgrade) have that plugin as well? Did I do something wrong? Are other things going to be missing or go wrong since I uninstalled CS3? Let me know what you think. Thanks

Hi Todd, I bet you upgraded from a PPC machine.
The real problem here is that Flash 8 is/was not a universal binary (i.e. an app that is supported on both the PPC and the Intel Macs).
So the included "FLV Exporter" QuickTime component does not show up in the export dialog even if it's installed as it just does not get loaded.
    (Should be in "NameOfSystemHD/Library/QuickTime").
If you update to Flash 9/CS3 you get a universal binary app and QT exporter component and it will work again on your (Intel) Mac Pro.
Btw., the Flash support that was in QuickTime had nothing to do with export - especially not with FLV - but with playback of Flash content.
Addionally, AE 7 isn't a universal binary either, so you will suffer some pretty serious performance losses.
    Best regards, Oliver

trying to reconnect airport express to time machine but express not showing up in base station.  unfortunately clicked forgot in airport utility and express no longer shows up.  how to reconnect?

I would recommend setting the wireless encryption on the AirPort Express BEFORE configuring it for the AirPort Extreme in this case. This issue also comes up often when configuring AirPorts into a WDS.
If setting up security in my recommend order does not work, temporarily connect the Express by Ethernet to the Extreme; make the security changes, and then, move the Express back to the desired location.
