Just swapped over to iphone, clicked on facebook, it's asking me to verify my account details within my mob, it's a free app, why does it need this info? I'm not buying tunes

Probably not, though I believe your iCloud data may be removed if your account is completely inactive for 180 days. Have you used iCloud recently? Made a backup, synced contacts, etc? Are you currently in the country where your iTunes account is based ? You won't be charged for downloading free apps (some free apps do then allow you to make in-app purchases to unlock extra features, though you can turn that off via Settings > General > Restritions > In-App Purchases 'off'), but if you add or change the credit card details on your account then you are likely to receive a temporary store holding charge to check that the card details are valid and that it's registered to exactly the same name and address as on your iTunes account - that should disappear within a few days or so.

You won't be charged for a free book.
If you do get an entry on your credit card it is most likely just going to be a holding charge that is made to check that your credit card is valid and active, and also possibly that it is registered to an address in the country whose iTunes store you are using. iCloud backs up your iOS device (not your Mac) automatically. You can remove the backup:

and it will not back up again. This will not affect a backup made using iTunes. The notice you see refers to calendars, contacts, iWork documents and so on, which live on the server and are read from there by your Mac, and so will obviously disappear if you turn iCloud off altogether (which you don't need to do) or turn off Documents (which you don't need to do either).

Hi everyone, I live in Australia and bought a student and teacher edition of cs 6 design standard for a Mac from Officeworks, a major Australian reseller, about a month ago and have been trying to get my serial number emailed to me for over a week.
I have provided proof of eligibility but am now being asked to provide proof of purchase.
It took 5 attempts to even send through my proof of eligibility and has taken 3 days (not including the weekend) to get any sort of reply from Adobe.
I'd like to know why i am being asked to provide this as there is no mention of it being required on Adobe's order fulfillment/instruction page.

I found that right clicking on my hard drive, Get Info and under Sharing & Permissions when the Privilege was changed to Read & Write, the authentication pop ups stopped and I could drag pictures to my desktop and save attachments there also. Now my hubby and I will investigate the Names under S&P. We know one is System, another is him sharing. There is a third that says everyone so it will be the main one we research. I get the basics of what they are - to secure folders etc. from someone getting into my computer. I'm sure this is a pretty basic description of the issue so I guess if you read this and try any of this to stop the authentication, you should make sure you know what and why.
