If I accidently deleted my site in iWeb, but it's already been exported...

Can anyone help me repair the damage I just did?? By trying to create two separate websites through iwebsites, I accidently deleted my two websites created in iWeb. If all the files for both sites were exported onto my hard drive, is it possible to reimport them back into iWeb, instead of having to start from scratch? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Best,
Leigh

The key file to look for is iWeb's Domain file. It's usually here:
User > Library > Application Support > iWeb
If you cannot find that, iWeb's HTML files (generated when you publish) cannot be used to re-establish your sites. In the absence of the Domain file the best you might do is copy & paste images and other "content" from the published HTML files into a fresh iWeb site.

  • Published a site in iweb but looks different in the web browser

    Hi,
I have published a site in iWeb but it looks different when viewed in the web browser having published a few times.
The pictures have small frames around which display perfectly i niweb but do not show in browser?
The navigation menu is all showing in iweb but again not showing in the web browser?
Not sure what I am doing wrong? I have tried to publish a few times.. checked that all the tick boxes show 'display navigation menu' etc?
    Thanks

Since you do not provide real varifiable, factual information I searched for :

    Is this you?

I noticed on the Pricing page that I cannot click the Gallery link. Something covering it?
    Other pages have similar behaviour.
And there's no link for the home page. Perhaps you're hiding it.
And see if you can use a shorter, and different, Sitename. It is clear who you are. And just welcome is enough.
    And empty the browser cache.

  • What happens if I delete a site in iweb?  site still on the web? system?

B/c of my various issues i'm having since upgrading iweb, I created two test sites on iweb09. I was able to upload them to the web and to a folder.
I deleted both. Later, I created another test site with the same name (site 2). I noticed this one was acting weird.
I'm wondering what happens to the sites after they are deleted.
    1. Are they available on the web?
    2. Are they somewhere else on my system that I should make sure to delete?
    Thx.

Deleting sites inside iweb does not have any effect on what has been published on a server or to a folder on your local drive. It just changes what is in iWeb's domain file.

  • Help I deleted my site from iweb

I was working on a new site and deleted my other site from iweb hoping I could find it again, is there any way to recover this site?

Not unless you have a backup of your Users folder.
If you publish to .mac, DON'T publish your new site until you have copied the folders in the Web>Sites>iWeb folder in your iDisk to another location. Publishing your new site will delete your previous site from your iDisk.
Once you have done this, you can move the folder for your first site to the Sites folder in your iDisk, and will be accessible through home page until you can rebuild the site. (If you can/want to do this, feel free to post back for more detailed instructions)

  • I have a password protected site in iweb, but how do I get my users to "sign out" so there not always logged in

I built a password protected site in iweb and its published through mobileme. How do I get users to "sign out" so there not always logged in

I wouldn't bother really - it would be best to concentrate your efforts now on finding another web host that you can move your site to because after the end of June this year, publishing to MobileMe won't be an option.
Have a look at GoDaddy, HostExcellence etc. and you can still password protect your website, but you just do this through your host/server rather than MMe.
Start looking now before it's too late!

  • Published site w/ iWeb but next time opening iWeb no content was there

I recently published updates to my site but the next time I opened iWeb there was no content & I was asked which templet I wanted to use - as if I was opening for the first time. Is there any way to reload the content into iWeb - if so how? Thanks in advance for any time & effort in helping me.

Guy ~ Assuming you haven't inadvertently logged in to a different User Account, try this... Via Spotlight's magnifying glass icon at upper right of your screen, search for iWeb's Domain file(s) by entering this:
    .site
...and see what shows up in the drop-down list of hits. Note that any files which may be iWeb's Domain file won't be displayed as filename.site — rather they'll be displayed simply as filename, where filename could be anything you've perhaps renamed the original Domain file to be.

If you can't find it, be aware that only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.
Paragraph 2.3 of this FAQ page gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch:

  • I have to sites on iweb, but can't access #2, only #1. can anyone help?

    Hello everyone,
I am new to mac, and I've manged to create a web site using iweb. I went on to create a second one. Both are done, but when I publish, the second one never shows up when looking at the link, or when visiting the site, just the first one. Does anyone know how to have both websites operating separately, and that I can send separate links to people to access only the one I sent to them ??? Help is greatly appreciated. Regards, Bola964.

When you have kernel panics, the pertinent information is in the panic report.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.

  • How to delete iOS 8.1.2 if it has already been downloaded?

Believe it or not, my iPhone 5 still runs iOS 7.0.4.
Recently it downloaded iOS 8.1.2. I suddently lost ~1GB of free space, then went to Settings and noticed it downloaded the update. I can't see iOS or anything similar under Storage. I want to delete it, since my phone is the 16GB version, making all lost storage a huge waste. And no, I'm not updating.

I've never done it myself so can't testify to the accuracy of the following but it may help: http://www.idownloadblog.com/2014/09/24/how-to-delete-ios-8-0-1-update-download- from-your-device-to-avoid-accidental-installation/

  • Deleted Site in iWeb

I deleted a site in iWeb. I need it back. Is a copy stored at .mac? I didn't have Time Machine running at the time, so I can't go back to a previous set-up.

iWeb does not recognize a website, only the domain file you do the editing in.
    It's normally in +~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/+ folder.
So check your backup to locate that file : domain.sites2
You can drag it back to the folder mentioned above in your home directory.
Then double-click the file to make it the default file.
If it's only the published website you backup'd, then you have to start from scratch.

first.. follow this link to WillPBG4's site
    http://web.mac.com/will.englefield/iWeb/WillG4PB/2S1M.html
He's got some instructions there on how to have mutlitple sites by creating more accounts on your mac. Basically, you copy your domain file (hard disk/users/username/library/applicationsupport/iweb/domain) and put it in the new account. He explains everything there, but you need to create a new account for each site, and edit each site from that new account. After you've got that all done...
Second, go to www.apple.com, click on .Mac, sign in and delete the sites you don't want there.

  • Is there a way to delete all of my iWeb sites after the iCloud transition?

    Hi!
I'm trying to delete all of my websites that I created with iWeb but it doesn't seem to work (even republishing a blanc page).
Does anybody know if there is a way to do it or is not posible after the transition to iCloud?
    Thanks!

iCloud has nothing whatsoever to do with your websites - these are published to MobileMe.
Log into your MobileMe account under System Preferences and go to your iDisk where all your published sites are stored and simply delete them - the delete button should be on the left hand side of all your sites.
You can do this or mount your iDisk on your desktop.

  • I accidently put vr files in trash but did not delete, now stuck on grey screen after battery dying! Help

I am not very tech savvy but recently used a program that tells you what programs and files are using up large amounts of space on your computer I think it was called disc utility maybe. I deleted a whole bunch of things but accidently deleted a folder called vr, I realised I made a mistake and went to remove it from the trash when my laptop died, now it won't turn on past the grey screen with the apple logo!
I didn't delete the files they are just sitting in the trash. Is there anything I am able to do? I don't have any install discs or anything or wifi at my house or have any computer knowledge really. Please help!

Thank you! But do you think that a defective cable would cause it to not boot the cd now as well as the HD errors?
Also, this is kind of embarrassing, but if my trackpad happened to be broken to where I couldn't click it (broke a while back, but I use an external mouse so it never really bothered me) can I hold down the mouse button on my external mouse at startup to eject the cd or does it have to be the trackpad. If not, is there another way I can eject the cd?
    Thanks again!
