If I backed up an old iphone that broke, is there a way to restore that stuff without erasing the content that's already on my new phone? And if I were to back up the content on my new phone would that erase what was backed up from the old device?

It sounds like you restored the backup of your old phone to your new phone.
Unless you backed up the new phone first or manually copied the pictures off prior to restoring the backup, the pictures are gone.

The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer or cloud service regularly. If she failed to do this, then they are likely gone. -

The backup of your iPod Touch would include your camera roll photos. Restoring the backup to another iPod Touch or iPhone would recover them. Photos will not be restored by restoring the backup to an iPad.
Note: Apple deletes iCloud backups after 180 days of inactivity so be sure to do this before then. -

Please help! I exited iMovie and lost my project that I've been working on for days... I am able to find it in "Finder" under iMovie Projects... but I am unable to open it as a Project in iMovie. I am using iMovie '11, with no time machine, and I'm on a MacBook Pro.
I fully sympathise with you, as I recently experienced the same issue (as have many others).
Projects always appear as normal in Finder in the Home folder Movies/iMovie Projects (or on an external disk at the top level in Movies/iMovie Projects). Nothing looks untoward there.
However, when iMovie is opened again after an editing session, the most recent project worked on does not appear in the listing of projects in iMovie's Project Library - although it is still listed in the Finder folder . This happens for no apparent reason - no unexpected quits, freezes, or crashes, and nothing else out of the ordinary. iMovie is simply not recognizing the project. It can't even be opened by double-clicking on the project in Finder.

I'm trying to resync my newly set-up Firefox on Mac OS X. Somehow it never occured to me, that i'd have to save the key.
So is there a way, as stated in the title, to restore my Sync key from the mobile device, without deleting all of my Bookmarks etc?

Sorry to read that. Unfortunately, because of security reasons, there's no way to retrieve your Sync key from any mobile device. That's why it's really important to keep a secure back up of it.
The only remaining option at this stage is to save your bookmarks on the phone and manually migrate them to your computer. Once you have done this, reset your account. -

This can be done by verifying that each device and computer is signed into the same iTunes Store account, and enabling Automatic Downloads on all of them.

I had iTunes9 in my Win/Vista/serv pack 2 and it was malfunctioning badly. Would not grant me access at all. I've got new password etc. but can't download 10.4.1 (64 bit) on my new ASUS laptop. It has 500GB of RAM, intel Pentium core 13 processor, Windows7/serv pack 1 plus fat a$$ graphics & sound but everytime I try to download iTunes, it tells me my computer hasn't been "modified"? I've gone through all support pages, and still can't find a solution. I'm needing to restore to a specific day/time period. I lost literally hundreds of hours of research...and MUST find a way to get those Tab Groups and Tabs restored.
Again, for some reason, the Restore Previous Session option is greyed out...and not an option.
From what I've read, there may be some files in the Firefox profile folder that can be used, but it's not clear the steps to take to see if this would do what I need, and before I mess with those files, etc... I recently purchased a new PC. I had backed-up my old computer on Carbonite, so I was able to transfer my iTunes library to the new computer when I downloaded my info from Carbonite, but the playlists are gone. Is there a way to restore my playlists?
Most of my playlists are on my iPod. If I use my iPod to transfer, will the songs double in my library? Also, how do I do this?

JulieIf you had backed up and restored your library properly you should have ended up with the playlists too. Did you import the media folder from the backup drive into a new library rather than restoring the entire iTunes folder?

Are you saying you were trying to backup your phone but instead it restored your phone from a backup that was two years ago
If so there is no way to recover the recent data that was lost because it wasn't back up.
did you at the very least import your pics to your computer as you would a digital camera? -

Most intelligent people would not store such sensitive data on a device that could so easily be lost, stolen, or damaged. Even if they chose to do so, they would use the device as designed and regularly sync and backup that device as described in the User's Guide.
Have you done so? If you have, all of the data is either in iCloud or iTunes on your computer. Replace the device and restore the new iDevice with the backup of the old one. -
