If I backup an Ipod will it erase photos

I'm trying to save photos from my sister's Ipod touch to my macbook. If I backup the ipod to my itunes will I lose the photos?

If the photos are in the iPod's Camera Roll (or Save Photos for older iPod) album they are included in the backup that iTunes and iCloud makes.
If they are in that album you can also import them to the computer

    - The iPod backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music. If those synced items are not on the computer on which you do the update they will not be oj the iPod after the update. The update erases the iPod
    - First transfer iTunes purchases:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
    Copy music
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - The restore the iPod from that backup. The restore will also update the iPod.

if i restore my ipod will it erase my itunes library on my computer

No.  Your iTunes library is your "master copy."  Doing a Restore on the iPod just erases the iPod, like deleting a playlist.  Your iTunes library is not affected in any way.

  • Got a new macbook, when i sync my iPod, will it erase all my songs

So will it erase all my songs when i sync it to my new macbook?

Yes.  An iPod is designed to only sync with one iTunes library/computer at a time.  If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library it will erase what is currently on the iPod and replace it whatever is in the new library empty or not.
So what'll you want to do is copy all of your content on your iPod to your new Macbook Pro and into iTunes.  You can transfer purchases from the iPod to iTunes via File -> Transfer purchases.  For music outside of iTunes you'll need the help of some sort of third party program such as Senuti to help you get the job done.

  • If I delete a backup on iCloud, will that erase the data from that backup on my phone?

I had to get a replacement iPhone 5 because of a faulty power button on my first one. In order to keep my data, I used iCloud to backup my phone and transfer it to the replacement. Now I have a backup of my old phone and the replacement and that really limits my available space. (1) Is there a way to merge these together? (2) If I delete the old backup, will the data transferred from it be deleted on the replacement? Sorry if this is confusing and thanks in advance for any helpful information.

You can't merge backups.  Also, deleting a backup only permanently deletes it from iCloud; it doesn't do anything to the data currently on the phone.  If you no longer need your old backup go ahead and delete it.

  • Error -208! iPod will not update photos!!

My iPod doesn't update my Photos at all. When I plug in the iPod I immediately get the Error -208 message, it skips over the photo update, and moves right to the music update, which the music updates just fine, but not the photos. Any solutions?
I took my iPod to Apple Store a few weeks ago to see what they would say. We tested it out on a computer there and it updated everything perfectly of course, so they couldn't do anything for me. They told me to try and rebuild my iPhoto library when I got home, so I tried that, but it didn't work.

Error -208 is a java error, I believe. You may want to reinstall java on your computer. If that doesn't help, maybe reinstalling iTunes will . . .
    Good luck!

  • Ipod will not display photo slideshow on TV

I can't get my Ipod touch to play a slidewshow on my TV. I conected with cables and selected the apporpriate input on the TV

    Hi btabz,
The wording on the Apple Store for the iPod AV Connection Kit does seem to indicate otherwise:
"This kit includes everything you need to connect your iPod to your home stereo or television so you can share your favorite tunes, snapshots and movies with friends and family. Compatible with all iPod models with Dock connector.*"
    "iPod AV Cable
On one end, the iPod AV Cable connects to the headphone port of the iPod or the line-out port on the iPod Universal Dock. On the other end, it connects to the left/right stereo input jacks on a stereo, powered speakers or TV and the composite video input on a TV or monitor. "
"*About iPod Compatibility All iPod models with Dock connector are compatible with the iPod AV Connection Kit. Different iPod models offer different capabilities:
Music playback: All iPod models with Dock connector
Slideshows: iPod with color display and iPod with video
    Video playback: iPod with video"
I haven't bought the kit yet but I can't see anything on the webpage that says you can't display SlideShows on the TV.
I think I'll ask a Genius as I'm going to the Apple Store in a couple of weeks for some retail therapy
    Regards,
    Colin R.

  • 3.1.2 - iPod will not sync photos even if there is space available

Er.. is the file > then 1.03 GB, or is the total size of the files you're transferring greater than 1.03GB? If it's the former rather than the latter, FAT32 (the file system the iPod is formatted in for Windows) can't really transfer huge files. So... you may want to break the file into chunks, perhaps. If it's a bunch of files totaling 1.03 GB, then I haven't got a clue. I've transferred more than that in one go.

  • My Mac has recently been restored in an Apple Store. I'm wanting to backup my iPhone 4 so I can use that data on my new iPhone 5. Though as my apple ID and everything has been reset to Factory Settings, if I plug my iphone in, will it erase everything?

Okay, so I got Apple to restore my whole Mac operating system, and it obviously reset all my settings and computer to factory settings. As I now have an iPhone 5 and wanting to backup my iPhone 4, I can't do this as my Mac does not have any recorded backup's from before as they were deleted in the restoration. So i want to plug my iPhone 4 in to back it up. The main question is if I plug my iPhone 4 in, will it erase everything? and if so, how do i prevent this from happening as I have very important data on my iPhone 4 i can't lose.
    Thanks
    Georgia!

  • Msg: all files will be erased and replaced with songs on this iTunes.

I first set up my iPod to work on my iTunes library. Because I wanted some music from my sons iTunes, I then connected my iPod to his iTunes, created some playlists and manually moved a lot of his music into those playlists. The next time I connected iPod to my iTunes, I got the msg about all music on iPod will be erased and replaced if sync'd with my iTunes. So I chose yes and all music was deleted from iPod and all my library was sync'd back into it. However, I'm still getting the message each time I want to update on my iTunes. Could it be because I put a lot of his music into playlists which are still on my iTunes? If so, how can I remedy this?

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new one.
It sounds like you have failed to do this, which is not good at all.
You will have to transfer your itunes purchases from your iphone.  Authorize your computer for your itunes account
About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
Open itunes, plug in iphone, do NOT sync, click File>Transfer Purchases
When you do sync you will lose your pics ( photo library - synced from your old computer), your itunes content ( music, apps, videos, etc) , your contacts and your calendars.  So do NOT sync yet.  This is why a backup copy is so important.
Enter one unique contact and calendar entry on your computer.
When you first sync, you should get the option to merger the data.  Choose it.
If you want your pics, then you will need to e-mail them to yourself before you sync.  They will not be of the original quality as they are reduced when synced to iphone.
When all is as goos as it can be, then backup your computer, and always maintain the backup.
