  • Just bought a new Macbook Pro with OS 10.8.2.  Had windows.  I have literally 1,000's of tunes in .wma.  How can I transfer them or otherwise play them on new Mac?

I just bought a new MacBook Pro with OS x 10.8.2 because my PC died.  I have well over 3,000 tunes and they are WMA and WAV.  Can anyone help me with advice to convert them to iTunes format (MP3).

Thank you; I'll give it a try.  I read somewhere that Macroplant Adapter worked well
Wherever you read that should be off of your reading list.
Flip4Mac works, has done for many years.

  • If i bought a macbook pro on 4 juin, can i get the upgrade of new max os lion free?

if i bought a macbook pro on 4 juin, can i get the upgrade of new max os lion free?
i buy it directly from the apple store.

Might be a discount voucher near-term, to match up with past programs.  That would positively scream "epic win" in addition to being a really nice gesture by Apple.  But this is an educated guess.
We still have to find out how 10.4 and 10.5 holdouts from late '06-mid '09 (and y'all know who y'all are, ladies and gents) are going to get Lion based on the only system requirement of a 64-bit CPU.  I suspect a Mac Box Set refresh would be in order for this task.
Also: how would one reinstall Lion "clean" if, say, the hard disk flips out or one just doesn't want excess baggage gumming up his machine?   Recovery partitions assume the worst won't happen.
Unfortunately, this also leaves the earlier '06 Macs on life support and effectively kills off all prior Macs with PowerPC chips, so to anybody with a Core Duo or G-series chip, Apple wants you upgrading hardware--NOW!

70 hours...  no, it's not normal but it can't hurt your Mac to be running for that amount of time.

Most likely won't run SL unless it's one that was released before Lion went public. Color SL gone from new Macs.
    27" i7 iMac 10.6.8 , Mac OS X (10.7.2), G4 450 MP 1.5 GB RAM w/(10.5.8/10.4.11/9.2.2)

I can't watch YouTube videos on my brand new MacBook Pro with Lion. It says I need to download Adobe Flash Player but that won't install. Help!

The same thing happens to me, Safari asks me to update the Adobe FlasPlayer, I download, start the installation process, ask me my username and password in order to install, then see a window where I choose if I want to always install the updates , or ask first, or not inslate updates, and at this point it is not progress, I can not cancel the process, I turn off and turn on my machine.
    What can I do ..??
    Regards.

  • Hello, this might be a basic question, but how do you open QuickTime to record a new webinar? I have a new MacBook Pro with Yosemite and can only get QuickTime to appear in Finder but not actually open to allow me to record something new. Thx.

    Hi Winterwilly,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
The article linked below answers your question of how to use QuickTime to record something on your MacBook Pro’s screen.

  • New Macbook Pro with a SSD.  Can it be upgraded in the future?

The new Macbook Pro with retina display has a 250 GB hard drive.  My question is:  Can this drive be upgraded in the future (using a standard off the shelf SSD) or are you stuck with the 250 GB drive that it comes with?

The Retina MBP is a totally closed system that cannot be hardware upgraded. Ever. Besides the fact that they used custom components, furthermore those were glued on so disassembly is close to impossible as per the teardowns carried out by IFixIt.com and others. Got a score of ZERO in terms of serviceability.
So if you are gonna be beguiled by just a fancy screen, be sure to buy as much Mac as you can cause that's all the hardware you're gonna get.

  • New Macbook Pro with Lion, how best to migrate?

    Hi All
I'm currently running a Macbook with Snow Leopard, but tomorrow I'll be ordering a new Macbook Pro.
What is the best way to migrate my old computer files over to the Macbook Pro given that it will be loaded with Lion?
I will have the Macbook and an up to date time machine back up.
    Thanks in advance.

Connect the two computers with a Firewire cable. Boot the old computer into Target Disk Mode - Transferring files between two computers using FireWire. Boot the new computer for the first time. It will startup to the Setup Assistant. You will have an option to transfer files from another Mac or disk drive. That option will let you transfer your Home folder, third-party applications and support files, and network preferences.

  • How can I install Final Cut Studio 2 on my new MacBook Pro with Lion?

I just purchased and received a new 15" MacBook Pro (non-retina) last week. I need to install Final Cut Studio 2 on this computer. I have researched this and found that I need to install Rosetta from the Snow Leopard DVD in order to do this. This is the first Mac I've bought ( although I've been working with them for years), so I don't have a Snow Leopard DVD. I am a high school teacher and we use FCS 2 for my classes so buying FCP X is not a viable option for me since I teach FCP 6. The iMacs we use in school run Leopard and were never upgraded to Snow Leopard (budget cuts and all), so I can't even borrow one from my district.
Does anyone know how I can obtain Rosetta? Or another way to install this without it?
    Thank you ! :)

There is no way to add Rosetta support because it is not supported by OS X Lion at system level. This has been documented before the release of OS X Lion by itself.
If you really need Final Cut Studio 2, I would return your computer if possible, and purchase a Mac that is capable of running Snow Leopard (all 2010 models, early 2011 MBP and some other 2011 models)

  • New Macbook Pro with Lion, installed Aperture - all photos disappear

    Just bought a MacBook Pro:
    2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
    4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon HD 6750M 1024 MB
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.1
My old computer crashed so I transfered a folder full of photos to my computer inside of a Documents file.  Some of these photos came from my previous version of iPhoto and some of the were not imported into any program at all.  I want to clean and organize my photos before importing them into any program. I do not wish to create extra clutter on my computer by importing them at this time, being that I have a very clean machine at this time.
So, I got Aperture, newest version (software updated as of this morning) and was planning to import my photos once I organized all of them.
However, now that I've installed Aperture, the folder of my pictures that is located in My Documents is now reading that there are (0) photos, so I can't even organize them.  Also, if I run Aperture and try to import a photo, it doesn't recognize that any photos exist.
Now, if I look up All My Files in the Finder window, it shows that I do infact have over 9k Images, most of these being my photos that are not showing up in their file folder.  Some of these however are not conventional photos but are PDFs that I do not wish to hang out in any photo organizing/editing program.
So, why can't I see my photos so I can organize them via my Finder folder in My Documents when I recovered them from my old computer?
They were never imported into my new computer's iPhoto, nor were they ever imported into my new computer's Aperture.  But I can all of them in the All My Files?
    Any help would be appreciated.

I was able to find my photos, they were strangly refiled in a different file folder.
Seems like Aperture is still having troubles populating the images, but I find if I open and close import, or close and repoen Aperture, then the photos will populate.
    Buggy though for sure.

  • New MacBook Pro with Lion

Ok So I just picked up my new MacBookPro from my VAR and was hoping to just merge all my data from an earlier Macbook Pro , I`m running SL on the old machine and the new New comes with LION . I just called apple support to see if I could boot from my SL DVD and do a clean install, I was told NO I cannot.
Anything that bothers me is the New MacBookPro came with only installed software? weird no DVD`s at all. It was a sealed box with even the outer shipping box enclosed.  Solution to get this running with Lion?

Connect the two computers with a Firewire cable. Boot the old computer into Target Disk Mode - Transferring files between two computers using FireWire. Boot the new computer for the first time.
