If I buy a book on my iPad, the download hangs when it syncs to my iPhone

Both devices are on the latest release of iOS. But nearly every time I buy from the iPad, the book will NOT sync to my phone unless I am using a wifi network, even though I can download other purchased books not on the iPhone without any problem when on 3g instead of wifi, even while the download of the recently purchased book is completely stalled. The stalled book shows as "downloading" but cannot be stopped, paused or made to resume.
Any ideas?

If you share the same Apple ID she can download it again on her iPad in the Past Purchases Tab of the iBooks Store, just find the book in the purchased section and download it again.
If she doesn't use the same ID, you cannot share the book.

Have you tried closing the iBooks app completely and seeing if it works ok when you re-open it ? From the home screen (i.e.not with the iBooks app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the iBooks app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
If neither of the above work then you could also try deleting the app and re-installing it - as long as the books are still in the store and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used then you can re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

Not really certain what you are telling us - - I am not good at computers
A couple of other things that may be tips - -
1 - on wednesday of this week
our son noticed the fan was going on almost continuosly,
After that trouble started - -
2. - When we put the new HD in - -same things happened,
which is ? mark in folder (start-up items)
3. - His computer will not see my wireless even if I put it next to my I-mac
It sees several networks but not mine - -and if we type in my netwokr
info - -it will not take. He wanted to try a network start-up .
I forget how that is done.
4, - The bottom of the computer is getting hot - -much hotter than i think it should.
any ideas why his computer won't see my router?
I think he may just have to take it to Apple Store on Newbury Street.
Would they be able to get his info off the old HD assuming it is still good and
transfer to the new HD fairly easy.
LAstly - - I am pretty certain I have the str-up disks for my I-mac which is running

What do you mean by sync to the phone? You cannot sync iDevices with one another at all.
If you mean that you cannot download the book on the phone after downloading it on the iPad - that is because audiobooks are not part of the free redownloads of iTunes in the cloud - or at least that is my understanding.

If you transfer the book to iTunes and then sync it to the phone, that may work.

Buying a Book via Aperture is the worst experience I've ever had

I have given up trying to buy a book via Aperture forever. I've wasted an entire day trying to get this done, and Ive gotten nowhere, I have spoken to Apple Photo Services numerous times and followed everything they said to the letter and on four occasions it has failed to "Upload to files to the server"
I have checked my account, tried different payment methods, tried different ISPs (one being a 100mbps synchronous fibre MPLS circuit, so it's nothing to do with speed), I have deleted the Aperture keychain entry, exported the book to a separate library, even tried it on a different machine and still nothing.
I now have 4 orders currently "processing", at £58.94 each, so currently Apple have over £200 of my money authorised for transfer.
It is a real shame that Apple ignores these forums, and that Aperture is such a neglected program. At least I am not trying to run a business using this POS.
Part of me wants to go on an Aperture training course just to shout at someone from Apple.
Anybody know of a good 3rd party book printing services that can use the PDFs output by Aperture?

Once the book is printed you then have the frustration of tracking the book from the printworks near Prague, travelling for approximately 3 hours a day, eventually taking about a week to travel the 900 or so miles to the UK, if it gets stuck in Germany on a Friday evening it will not move again until the Monday morning.
Only one class of shipping is supported "Snail speed" it would be very nice to opt for a faster speed.
However once the book is handed over to the final recipient the obvious pleasure they get from it is fantastic compensation for the niggles.

There is no convenient way to share I books with non iOS devices. For the future, download the kindle app or the nook app. Their libraries can be accessed by any device that has an app.
In a perfect world, apple would make an I book reader available on the google market, but that has not happened.

I received the iPad a little over a year ago as a gift from my parents. I loved it so much that I purchased the iPhone4S and I was wondering if it were possible to transfer the Apps that I previously purchased on the iPad to my iPhone. If this isn't possible can I ask why not? I don't understand why purchasing something and paying good money for it doesn't make it truly yours to be used on your devices. I want to give the iPad to my little sister and have my parents set up a new account and "refresh" the iPad (if you can even do that) for her but I'm afraid of losing the Apps that I paid good money for just for them to dissappear. If you want to have the mostly same content on both devices - it probably makes more sense to restore your iPad from the iPhone backup. this will put all of your app settings and email settings onto the iPad and any app data and game saves as well will transfer to the iPad.
You still want to sync the iPad so that all of the apps and photos that are in your iTunes library transfer over to the iPad. Restoring from the backup doesn't restore apps, music, synced photos, movies, books, TV shows and podcasts - you will still need to sync that content to the iPad.
I have pretty much have the same content on my iPad and on my Touch, but I eliminated the Movies and TV shows from the Touch and some apps as well. Remember that iPhone specific apps may run OK on the iPad - they will run in the iPhone smaller screen size and while you can double the size by tapping on the 2X button in the apps, they will be lower resolution because you just doubling the size of the pixels and the apps look kind of crappy on the iPad - they may work - they just look bad.
I do not auto sync at all. Nor does iTunes open automatically when my iDevices are connected. I start iTunes on my own and I select all of the content - piece by piece - app by app and so on - as I go along. Once you get through the initial set up - iTunes remembers each device and it's content for the next time that you sync.
