If I buy a iphone 6 on contract from an Apple store will it be locked

If I buy a iphone 6 on contract from a Apple store will it be locked?

to lock with the first sim one put in makes not sense
unlocked phones cost the true price of the phone
the reason why locked phones cost more is because the carrier they are locked to pay the difference and expect to make their profit by the users usage
to lock automatic to the first sim one put in would mean that carrier would not had paid the difference so apple would not get anything out of it
and the user would not get anything out of it, the only who would, would be that random carrier sounds like a lotto system for sim locks

Contract free versus SIM free are different. What you want to do is to wait for Apple to sell the SIM free version of the iPhone 6. See this explanation from the Apple 5S page that details this...
If you buy iPhone for T-Mobile, it will arrive with a nano-SIM card already installed that you can activate by visiting an Apple Retail Store or a T-Mobile store or by calling T-Mobile. If you buy a SIM-free iPhone, you will need to purchase a GSM-compatible nano-SIM card separately. In the United States, you can purchase such a SIM from AT&T or T-Mobile. When you travel internationally, you can use a nano-SIM card for iPhone 5s from a local GSM carrier.
Also be aware warranty service is country specific. So if you buy a phone in the US and it develops problems you would need to return it for service in the US...

  • I bought an unlocked iPhone 4s in America from an Apple Store, need Japanese service.

As the topic line states, I bought an unlocked iPhone 4s in America from an Apple Store, need Japanese service. I need to use it in Japan. What should I do? What is a good provider? I heard that Softbank will not let you use ANY iPhone that is not purchased from them. So I am wondering what to do.
I will be studying in Japan for 15 months, so I think it best that I get a 2 year contract, seeing as I plan to work here, following graduation. Does anyone know a way around the Softbank issue? If not, should I choose AU or Docomo? If those don't make much sense, either, than should I simply return the iPhone that I purchased in America and sign up for a two year contract with Softbank here?
P.s. The whole purpose behind buying it in America to begin with was because if I return to America, I can always use it there, too.

    Hi,
I am in the same situation as Iooc, I live in Uruguay and the iphone 4s costs 1400 Us dollars. I have been told that this price is caused because apple does not offer a discount to the Uruguayan distributors, therefor they are buying at the same price as in an apple store.
Well, as I have a friend travel next week to the US, I wanted to know about the unlocked iPhone 4s. Is it only GSM? Won't I be able to use intent 3G in this phone here in Uruguay?
    Thanks

  • If I ask my friend buy iphone 5s from usa apple store will it work in malaysia if it's locked

i wanted to buy an Iphone 5s from usa because it is cheaper there. If i buy from the apple store and i didn't subscribe any telephone services there will it work here in malaysia?

Only if it is unlocked, and they are not selling the unlocked iPhone at the Apple store yet.
EDIT:  I'm sorry, I missed that you referred to iPhone 5S. There should be an unlocked 5S, and it could work in Malaysia, but probably not with all of the bands there. Also, the warranty for the device is good only in the US.

  • How do I purchase a IPhone at full price from the Apple Store.

I have been a Verizon customer for over 10 years, and I currently have the unlimited data plan.  I was informed that if I upgrade my IPhone I would be required to switch to another Data plan (because the unlimited data plan is no longer offered).  I was also informed that if I am willing to pay full price for a new phone, then Verizon will allow me to keep my current plan.
If I am going to pay full price for a new phone, I would like to purchase it directly through the Apple Store instead of through Verizon.  Unfortunately, according to Apple, the only phones that I can purchase for full price are unlocked phones and these phones do not work with Verizon plans.
Has anyone been successful with purchasing a I-Phone from the Apple store at full price and using Verizon as their service provider?

        Hello and happy Sunday LADYTLC,
The iPhone is easily one of the most popular phones of all time! With it's sleek design, super easy user interface, and innovative functionality, what's there not to love. I want to see you enjoy all the iPhone has to offer on the our data network. May I ask which iPhone are you interested in getting? This amazing device can be purchased online, by phone, or in our corporate retail locations at retail value. If you would like assistance on completing this transaction and keeping unlimited data then please advise as we are here to assist.

  • Purchase an iphone with a contract at the apple store?

I Have a $500 apple store gift card that im itching to use, but im not entirely sure if im able to purchase an iphone 6 with a contract with the gift card. Does anyone know if it is possible to do that in canada specifically?

You can get a contract from a physical Apple Store: https://www.apple.com/ca/retail/iphone/
We offer plans with the same rates available directly from the carriers. We’ll take the time to understand your needs. And we won’t recommend one carrier over another or push you to buy more minutes than you need."
If you order online: http://store.apple.com/ca_consumer_340760/iphone you will need to get a contract "by yourself", by contacting your carrier after purchasing the iPhone.

  • Will there be an IPhone 4S without contract (unlocked) in Apple stores ?

  • HT1937 How to unlock iPhone which I received from the Apple Store?

I used to live in Europe (Switzerland) which is where I initially purchased an iPhone under two year contract via Sunrise.  When I moved back to the US, I was unable to unlock this phone and the Apple Store where I lived swapped out my phone and replaced it with one that worked in the US.  I then took this phone to AT&T and got a month-to-month agreement (i.e., no contract).
Now I am changing providers and need to unlock the phone for use with the new carrier.  AT&T tells me that they are not able to unlock the phone because it's not one of theirs.  This doesn't sound right.
I'm wondering if anyone can provide help here.  There is no Apple Store within about 100 miles of me and I do not have the resources to travel that distance.  Can Apple provide me with an unlock in order to complete the process of changing providers?
    Thanks,
    V'rasana

Only the Carrier to which the iPhone is locked can initiate the
unlocking. What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>Carrier?
If you were using the iPhone on AT&T, either it is one of theirs or it is
already unlocked. If it is an AT&T iPhone, only AT&T can unlock.
If it is already unlocked, it should work with other SIMs; have you
tried a SIM from the carrier you wish to go to?
Third possibility is that iPhone has been hacked/modified/jailbroken to work with
AT&T. If that is the case, there is nothing Apple or this forum can do.
Google may provide some assistance, but the software used to hack
the iPhone may have done irreparable harm that will prevent legitimate
unlock and may eventually render the iPhone unuseable.

  • Are you still able to purchase an iPhone 4 (not 4s) from an apple store? If not where can I buy one?

I was helping my grandma put something into the car and placed my iphone 4 on top of the roof so I could use both hands. As I put it down I thought to myself I can not forget to pick it up again but what did I do, I forgot about it. We went back to look to the house that we were at looked there and walked up and down the street there is a roundabout at the end so we figured it would have fallen of by then. I want to buy a new iPhone but I would prefer to have the same phone because I have to pay for it myself and I am a teenager without a job. My grandma insists that she pays for it and I really don't want her to so I would like to buy it before she tries to. So basically can I still purchase an iPhone 4 and if so where from. Thanks you

    Use Google.

  • Can I buy an LCD screen by itself from an apple store?

    ????

No, Apple only sells parts to service providers who have been approved to work on iPhones, and there are very few of those. They do not sell parts to the public.

  • Is iPhone unlocked when bought from an Apple store?

I bought a 3GS from an Apple store last year on PAYG in the UK. The guy in the shop asked me which network I'd like to use and he got me the SIM pack and set the phone up for me. I want to change carriers so will I have to get the phone unlocked first, or not?
    Thanks

If you purchased it from the Apple store, it should have been unlocked. What happens when you put in the Australian SIM?

  • Is it possible to buy an old generation AirPort Extreme from an Apple Store?

    Hi All
I've just bought an AirPort Extreme base station and think I've been ripped off by the seller.  Very upsetting.
    His advert stated the following:
"It's only a year old, I think I used it for about a week in my old house. This is selling for £139 brand new, I bought mine at Sheffield Apple store."
I've just received the item and it turns out to be a 1st Generation model.  Before I pick this up with the seller I want to make sure I have my facts straight so was hoping you can help to confirm my understanding:
    1)  This item is more likely to be 6 years old
    2)  This item could not have been purchased from an Apple Store a year ago
Any information that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I've just received the item and it turns out to be a 1st Generation model.
Manufacturing for the 1st Generation model originally began in February 2007 and was discontinued in August of that same year, 2007.
It's always possible that a "new" product sat unopened in a box for almost 6 years at an Apple Store, but it's also highly unlikely. The seller could bolster his claims substantially by producing a copy of the original bill of sale.
In general, the Apple Stores quickly sell any remaining inventory to make room for new versions when they are introduced, or return the older products back to Apple who in turn sells them to other vendors as discontinued models.

  • Can apple unlock an iPhone 4 that was bought from the apple store?

I bought an iPhone 4 last year from the apple store, my network provider cannot unlock it as I didn't get it through them. Hope someone can help.

Only the carrier (not Apple) can initiate the unlocking process.  In the US, AT&T has not and will not unlock the iPhone for anyone for any reason.
If your network provider cannot or will not unlock your phone, then you phone cannot be unlocked.  If you need an unlocked phone, sell yours and buy a factory unlocked phone.
