If I buy an iMac (educational price), do I get iWork for free?

Because I remember in one of the pictures there was a picture of it with the Mac, so was wondering if that comes along with it for free, alongside the £70 voucher..?!

What exactly do you need? iWork isn't actually for sale any longer, the items inside iWork all sell separately now.
Pages (word), Keynote (powerpoint), Numbers (excel) all sell for ~£13.99 each, so if you only need Pages for example, it's quite cheap.

  • If I buy a new iPhone 5s, will I get iWork for free on my iPad and MacBook?

Or is it only on my iPhone 5S

To get the versions for your Mac, free, you need to purchase a new Mac. So, no.

  • If I buy a mac with mountain lion and then upgrade to mavericks wil I get iWork for free, If I buy a mac with mountain lion and then upgrade to mavericks wil I get iWork for free

If I buy a mac with mountain lion and then upgrade to mavericks will I get iWork for free.

If you buy a new Mac with Mountain Lion, any included software is free and can be redownloaded from AppStore for that machine only. Some software only gets reinstalled if OS X (only) gets installed over itself to fix issues. See #8 Step here.
..Step by Step to fix your Mac
If you upgrade to Mavericks usually only OS X itself is changed (sometimes the hidden User Library is also), all the  software (and user accounts) also carries over (compatible or not), and Apple's software is upgraded.
So if your new Mountain Lion Mac comes with free iWork, then when you upgrade to Mavericks it will still be there.
If your new Mountain Lion does not come with free iWork, then it won't magically appear for free if you upgrade to Mavericks.
If you need a free Office suit, I suggest you look at the donationware LibreOffice.
You will likely need to control key or right click to "Open" LibreOffice to approve through OS X's "Gatekeeper".
You will need to manually update it also, as it's not on AppStore.
    https://www.libreoffice.org/
Benefit of LibreOffice is it's completely cross-platform compatible, so you can share working files with Windows and Linux users, which you can't with iWork.
You also should learn Microsoft Office when you have the funds, because it's standardized in the business world.

  • Buy a new iPhone 5 will get iWork for free?

In Indonesia, iPhone 5c and 5S isn't available yet. So I will buy a new iPhone 5 in this month. According to the support page (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5913), I will get iWork for free if I purchased Apple device after September 1, 2013. Is it real or I just misunderstand that statement in support page?

Does the Premium Reseller offer a return policy? If you purchased the phone in an Apple store you could return it within 14 days for a refund. If the store you're dealing with offer this you could buy the phone and go through the setup process. You'll soon learn what version of the iOS is installed.
Given that, i would add that it is not wise to continue running iOS 6 when there are no own security flaws. iOS 7 solves those problems and adds the activation lock to prevent thieves from activating your phone should it be stolen or you lose it somehow.

  • If I upgrade to Mountian Lion on my iMac, will my Macbook Air get the update free of charge?

I have an iMac and a Macbook Air. Both are running Snow Leopard 1.6.8. If I upgrade my iMac, will my Macbook Air get the update free of charge from the Mac App Store? Is it similar to buying an app on one iDevice and getting it free of charge on another iDevice with the same iTunes account?

Yes, indeed it is the same.  But you must use the EXACT SAME Apple ID account on both machines for the Upgrade.
    Hope this helps

  • I just bought the new late 2013 iMac.  Can I get the new iWork for free?

I just bought a new late 2013 iMac.  Can I get the new iWork for free?  I updated it to Mavericks also.  The Mac App store is showing $19.99 for each iWork component (Pages, Numbers, Keynote).  I also bought the previous iWork version, if that matters.  Free updates for iPhoto and  iMovie seemed to show up with no problems.  Maybe these are just glitches that will clear up in a couple of days?

Hi.  If you want it to get updated, this should take care of it.
    1. Uninstall iWork from your Mac.
    2. Do a fresh install of iWork from DVD.
    3. Install iWork update from Apple Downloads (direct link here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1563)
    4. Sign into the Mac App Store, and check for updates.  It should now show up as a free update.  You may have to give it a few minutes (i.e. 10-15 minutes).
I've been a Windows user for years, so I know all of the tricks by now.  I had hoped I would not need this knowledge for a Mac, but oh well...
    Good luck.

If i buy a macbook pro 2 months before the new operating system comes is released, can i get it for free?

Generally once Apple gives the official release date, then Macs have become available for up to date pricing.  As long as just the season has been stated, there is no guarantee that Macs purchased during the season in question will get up to date pricing.  So watch http://www.apple.com/osx/uptodate/ or http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/ the day that the release date is announced.   Past performance is no guarantee of future returns.  Thankfully since 10.7's release Apple's full fledged releases have only been $20 USD, and updates are free to the full fledged release.  I.e. 10.7.1 to 10.7.5 are updates to 10.7.
10.8.1 to 10.8.4 are updates to 10.8.  It was only with 10.6 and earlier the distribution for each full release was at least $99 and up to date were around $20 going back to 10.2.  10.6 is though available on the Apple Store for only $20.

  • If I buy LR5 and LR6 comes out, can I upgrade for free?

I need to upgrade from LR4 to accommodate my new camera. I hear LR6 is coming. If I buy LR5 and LR6 comes out within x amount of time, can I upgrade for free from LR5 to LR6 for free? I heard this somewhere and want to be sure.

The answer is that Adobe normally gives free upgrades if you buy the earlier version within 30 days of the release of the new version. But since no one knows when the new version will be released, you basically have to guess.

  • IMac G5 1st Gen 17in I got for free

i got this computer for free with no ram and they told me the mother board was dead and didn't turn on. so i got it home and pluged it in and trun it on it took a lot force to get it on but it truned on and beeped 1 time so i search it up what it means 1 beep means 1 beep = no ram. the main thing is how can i tell if it dosent work with out ram and and opening it

Very easy to get the back off. Here is a DIY right from Apple which shows how to replace a HD but once the back is off you will see the RAM slots. If it is a bad mother board it is a more advanced job but doable. The cost of the mother board is the worst part. If it was not turning on at all before it could be a bad power supply too. These are a lot cheaper to obtain and the PDF is in the same area that I got this PDF. You got it for nothing so you have nothing to lose. Have a look at the mother board for bulging capacitors (the little cylinder shape units) and there are a dozen or more on the mother board. If these are bad then the "Free Imac" may not be such a great deal. Good luck

  • Buying old imac g4 - price?

    Hello there,
Wondering how I can find out how much I should pay for an iMac g4 17" ?
It has been treated well as far as I know, the owner is a friend. It has been sitting in a box a lot and I will get a chance to test it first.
Wondering what tests I might do and how to check it out and determine a value.
    Thanks,
    Al

My first iMac G4 1.25GHz 17" computer with airport extreme card, speakers,
larger pro keyboard, mouse, wires, book and OS X were bought direct from
Apple online some years ago as a Special Deals item, after the iMac G5 was
available and most stores no longer had any iMac G4s. I still have that one.
The deal from a local Craigslist seller, who coincidentally worked at a retail
authorized Mac reseller but knows almost nothing technical, sells a few he
gets from people from his rented residence in the larger town up the road.
The one computer was set up and working fine, it appeared, when I finally
connected with the person and could see the computer. It was running 10.5.
but there were no discs included with the sale at all. Offers of one, were on
a contingency of me paying more - and I have an unused 10.5 retail disc...
{Instead I wiped the hard drive and installed Tiger 10.4.11 on that, since I
could then compare the activities in the questioned yet working iMac G4
based on the one I already owned that I know has been running OK. And
I also have most upgrade files for Tiger including Java & what not, saved.
    I don't have to download same repeatedly to update 2+ 10.4 systems.}
...I said no. He told me he had a box for the computer, but in order to get that,
(last November, when it was sub-zero) I had to take the computer already in
side that box. It did not function correctly. I talked him down on the price from
    $450. and then put the good computer in the box where the poor one was;
so as to transport the functional one with its accessories, in the cold weather.
So, the spare computer with apparent logic board issue (won't go past white
screen with Apple icon, sometimes does briefly, then kernel panics at some
point, occasionally, then won't boot to white at all, nothing. Then if I reset the
PMU button - under bottom metal plate, hidden under plastic in there - it will
start and give me the white screen with Apple icon, sometimes a spinning
spoke wheel; then nothing, or a kernel panic until the next PMU reset. I have
not taken that computer apart to see what it has for a hard disk drive or RAM.
If you don't mind paying shipping, you can get iMac G4s from companies who
repair and resell them with a limited guarantee; however any adjustment does
require you to mail or ship the unit back. Some companies won't honor such a
guarantee if they think you live too far away; & won't let a local tech fix it under
their alleged warranty period. I see wegenermedia.com has a few listed. The
accessories cost extra, as would an OS X retail boot installer disc, I'd guess.
These can be fun, but try to find the service manual (a technical document)
not usually something a consumer would have, if you get more than two of
these computers and start messing around. They are a bit of work and do
require some detailed steps to be performed correctly to even upgrade the
internal factory-installed RAM or replace the hard drive, or optical drive.
    The later USB2.0 iMac 15" computer is different than the earlier 15" iMac G4;
so to compare the specifications, see the free download database from
http://mactracker.ca and check into the iMac G4 series (among others.)
The first 17" iMac G4 was USB1.1 and a lower processor series, later
versions and different builds have other hardware options. The early 17"
was the first with a Superdrive and it had an 800MHz processor. I gave
one of these away to a friend a few months ago, and it was like new.
Have fun, even if it isn't pleasant work.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Buying a iMac 24" Intel Core 2 Duo processor for CS2 & CS3?

I have been a PC and MAC person for many years, but would like to move to one platform, MAC.
I am a photographer that has been using a XP x64 PRO box (AMD 64 3800+, 4GB DDR Ram, Dual Monitors) for a couple years in my photography sorting and light editing and am wondering if an Intel iMac 24 could handle my daily tasks; they are as follows: These are all RAW files from a Nikon D2x or D200.
    1. Loading the daily shots from a shoot using a card/media reader
    2. Open and make the picks within Bridge
    3. Open keeps in Camera RAW, I make 98% of my adjustments in Camera RAW.
    4. Then open the ones that need alittle more tweaking into CS2 as 16bit, to make very minor corrections such as dodge and burn or a B&W conversion using channels; save as PSD/DNG.
    5. I may print some of these to and Epson 1280.
Since I do not use any major filters and do very little heavy loading in CS2, will a iMac 24 handle this type of work.
    Regards,
    Johnny Kurtz

Well, thank you to all who responded.
I ordered my iMac 24 and it should have been here today, but snow has slowed my delivery to Utah, luckily it is coming new from the East Bay of San Francisco and will be here tomorrow.
I went with a 24" iMac 2.16 Intel Dual Core 2/2G RAM/500 G HD/Nvidia 7600GT256, and will be running dual monitor via the mini DVI port. I am also taking 3 SATA II drives from my PC and running them externally, firewire & USB. I am watching eBay and other sources for the 2GB DDR chip so I will have 3GB DDR soon.
I will run my PC version of CS2 until CS3 ships and will do a cross-upgrade to the Mac version then, also looking at Lightroom for culling the herd of photographs. I don't like the reviews and Apple Discussions about Aperture, maybe version 2.0.
    Cheers,
    Johnny
