If I buy an iphone in Spain, will I be able to use it in the US when I go back?

If so, what would I have to do?
I will get a contract here in Spain, but I'd like to continue using it once I return to the States.

talk to the place you buy it from about the options to get it sim unlocked
it's not an apple issue but a phone company issue
and of cause it being in spain mean it's gsm so you can only use it with att in usa

  • If I buy an iPhone in China will I be able to use the UK app store with my UK iTunes account?

I am working/living in China, and I want to buy a new iPhone. A friend of mine bought a Windows 8 phone and he discovered that the phones, apparantly all of them (across all brands) are region locked, app store wise, to China. So he can't download apps like Skype for example. I want a new phone but I'm worried that if I buy an iPhone here in China I won't be able to access my countries store. I have an old iPhone but it was from the UK so I know I can access the UK store in China. But the issue is, is that will the Chinese sold iPhone only access their own store and no others like the Chinese sold Windows 8 phones?

    Hello Rick19992000,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. Look at your question I can say that yes you can change stores. The following article will walk you through it. I also highlighted the specific portion for you.
iOS: Changing the signed-in iTunes Store Apple ID account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1311
Sign in to the account for the iTunes Store region you'd like to use. Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Apple ID: > View Apple ID > Country/Region.
One last bit of advice is to check to make sure that certain features are going to be present when buying from a different region. You can compare by going to the different regions at the Apple Choose your Region Page

  • IPhone 5 Verizon-Will I be able to use my phone in The Philippines with a local filipino sim card?

    Hello Everyone!
QUESTION: Will I be able to use a local sim card for cellular service when I'm in the Philippines?
                                  - I have an IPhone 5 from Verizon Wireless
                                  - Running IOS 7
                                  - I've called verizon and was told that it woud work but I don't really get correct information from them sometimes so...
If this does work and you have any advice on which provider worked well for you, please let me know!
I'd love to use my phone like normal and not purchase a cheap one that is hard to operate...that's why we've got IPhones right?
    Thank You!

    Hi there ecarr2202,
You may find the information in the article below helpful.
iPhone and iPad: Using cellular networks while in another country
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1807
Many carriers offer international voice and data plans. Always contact your current carrier for details about international-roaming countries, SIMs, rates, and policies before you travel to another country. While you may not need an international plan to use voice or data roaming on your iPhone or iPad, your carrier may charge additional fees or higher data rates if you don't have an international plan.

  • If I buy my Iphone 5 now, will I be able to upgrade it if a new one comes out for free?

I am looking to buy an Iphone 5, but I have seen that a new model is due soon. Should I wait or will Apple upgrade it if I buy it now?

Apple will not provide a free upgrade to any future model.

  • If I buy an iPhone 5 from an Apple Store in Dubai will I be able to use it in the UK with a Vodafone SIM?

I am going to Dubai soon and I was wondering if I bought an iPhone out there from an Apple Store would I be able to use it back in the UK on a Vodafone SIM, also is the warranty international, ie would I be able to take my phone into a store in the UK if it needed to be fixed?

JUST DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT.
Firstly the UAE iPhones have Facetime disabled
UK Prices are among the best as are deals with the carriers
AND the iPhone DOES NOT have international warranties

  • If i buy an iphone5 in America, will i be able to use it in Australia?

  • I have a Macbook which is running Snow Leopard. I back up using time machine to an external drive. If I purchase a new Apple Macbook pro running Lion if I use the backup to this will I be able to use Leopard on the new computer

I have a Macbook running Snow Leopard which I back up to an external drive using time machine.  If I purchase a new MacBook pro and transfer backup from time maching to MacBook Pro will it also transfer Snow Leopard as its is my preferred O.S.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
If the new computer did not originally ship with Snow Leopard installed, no, you will not be able to go back from Lion. Snow Leopard lacks the necessary drivers required for newer hardware.

  • I want to purchase an ipod classic in england but i live in spain will i  be able to use itunes the same way to download music, does it really matter  which country you buy your ipod

does it make any difference if i buy my classic ipod in another country, i live in spain (dont speak spanish) & have itunes already on computer, but will be buying my new ipod in the uk, cheaper!

I would recommend trying to purchase an iPod in the United States. iPods sold in the EU have the volume control crippled.

  • If I buy Lightroom and Photoshop CC will I be able to use the applications on both my PC and my Mac?

I have been using Photoshop CS3 for many years and finally decided it was time to upgrade. I use a Mac at home and a PC at work and also have an iPad Air. Are the Lightroom and Photoshop CC Apps compatable with both platforms or would I need to purchase two different memberships? I would obviously not use both at the same time.

Yes, you can use your two activations  with your membership for either Mac or PC just as I am doing. I have a Macbook and Windows 7 laptop, and both work well.

  • If I purchase an iPad "cellular" in Japan will I be able to use a data plan in the US upon returning?

I am currently in Japan for the next year. If I purchase an iPad and sign up for a data plan will I be able to use it in the United States when I return? By that I mean, will I be able to sign up for a data plan in the US with Verizon, AT&T?

should find most of what you are looking for.  I have set the second shortcut to the link to  Area coverage, need the same for your area with the verizon link.  The driver chip sets are not interchangeable so get the model that will reflect the level of service you are looking for, suitable for your US location.
you should also look up references to AT and T and Verizon's use of shared infrastructure resources, one offers more than the other in terms of roaming.
    Best regards, Ct

  • If i buy an iPhone in Malaysia, will it works in India?

I am currently living in Malaysia and I am going to study my Medicine in India soon.
As we all know iPhone 6 will be released real soon rumored to be around September 2014.
So my question is if i buy an iPhone 6 in Malaysia, will it still works when I move to India? As I know, you can't use an iPhone which has been brought directly from US due to the SIM -lock I guess..
Will it be the same if I buy an iPhone in Malaysia and can't use it in India or I need to do some kind of unlock process in India?
    Thanks in advance..

I see..Let's say if it is an unlocked iPhone which I'm able to use it in Malaysia,so i will also be able to use it in India right?
The locked iPhone is only usable in US whereas the unlocked one will be usable in anywhere outside US?
    Thanks for replying ^^
Oh ya,I know that initially all iPhone were only subjected to AT&T carrier which is the US carrier..So is it means we can use it on whatever carrier at anywhere outside of US after we have unlocked it?

  • If I buy an unlocked, contract free Iphone 5 in Europe, will I be able to use it with a US carrier?

The topic says all really, Iphone 4s and 5 both have GSM and CDMA capabilities and it's supposed to be a world phone and blah blah, but, if i buy one unlocked 4s or 5 from Europe ( contract free) will I be able to use it with say ATT?
    I'm confused about this though:
    About the Unlocked iPhone
The unlocked iPhone includes all the features of iPhone but without a contract commitment. You can activate and use it on the supported GSM wireless network of your choice, such as AT&T in the United States. The unlocked iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S will not work with CDMA-based carriers such as Verizon Wireless or Sprint." ( Link http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone/iphone4s)

AT&T and europe all use GSM . There is no CDMA in Europe
A genuine unlocked iPhone 4/4S  from Europe will work fine
A similar unlocked iP5 will work on 3G but NOT on  4G as the
European  iP5 does not have the 4G bands suitable for use in US
and the warranty will not be valid in the US it is not international

  • If I buy contract free iPhone 6 from T-Mobile in USA, will I be able to use that phone in India with any other provider?

If I buy contract free iPhone 6 from T-Mobile in USA, will I be able to use that phone in India with any other provider?

Yes!! the contract free mean that it's GSM+CDMA so you can use it all over the world

  • If I would buy a iPhone 5s A1457 in europe, will I be able to use it in Australia?

If I would buy a iPhone 5s A1457 in europe, will I be able to use it in Australia?

Maxime, If you bought it with Apple in Nederland (or België) it is unlocked and you can put any sim card in it. If you go to Australia for a long time, do as Allan says, because although it will work, you will not have guarantee in Australia.
If you bought it from a provider, it is locked to that provider and you can not use it with another sim card. This is not really a problem when you are only going to Australia for a short visit, you can go on using your NL sim card, but note that you better set Dataroaming to OFF, otherwise it could be a very costly trip. SMS and telephone will also be more expensive in Australia with a dutch card.
The prices in Australia are not much different (tax included) from NL and BE.

  • If I buy an unlocked iphone 6 in the uk and have a uk sim card in it initially, will i be able to use my german sim card in it when i'm in germany and return back to my UK sim card on my return?

If I buy an unlocked iphone 6 in the uk and have a uk sim card in it initially, will i be able to use my german sim card in it when i'm in germany and return back to my UK sim card on my return?

Yes. But make sure you buy it at an Apple Store. Other stores selling SIM free iPhones will sell those that will usually lock to the carrier whose SIM is used to first activate the phone. Then you will be stuck.
