I would very seriously consider contacting the Apple store via chat; according to the web page, it says "free shipping". I don't know if that means they will send you the box. Inside the box is a piece of paper that contains the registration code. If they actually mail this, you may not get it in time. So, use the storechat feature and ask if they email the code, automatically apply it to your Mac, or mail it to you for you to register.

You will get LR 4.1 through 4.x (whatever) up until LR 5.0. That's when you'll have to pay for an upgrade.

I'm looking to buy iWorks, and have noticed that right now it's the 2009 software. Let's say that I buy it now, and then this fall Apple releases iWorks '13 along with their OS overhaul. Would my software automatically update via Software Update, or would I need to buy the new version?

If you buy iWork now, you will get free updates for maintenance updates. Then, if Apple releases a new version with new features like iWork '13 (if this could exist), it's possible that Apple makes this update free for existing users or it's possible that it's a paid upgrade for everyone. Only Apple knows it, but looking at older launches, it looks like it will be a paid upgrade

Apple stated at the release of FCPX that it was pursuing a modular development scheme. Like a DSLR, you buy the body, then only the accessories that you need.
Have you seen mObject for Motion? SliceX? TrackX?
FxPlug has been updated recently and offers so much to third party develpers to so things that Apple hasn't the time for.
And AE doesn't let you create your own plugins for PPro without learning to write code. Motion does that for FCPX, and it is POWERFUL! Show me any other NLE that has this much grass roots power.

Apple didn't clarify if it will be a free or paid version, so we can't tell you an answer.
In the case that it's a simple update, you will be able to update for free. If it's a completely new version, you will probably have to pay unless Apple decides to sell Numbers for free. As we don't know it, we can't tell you the answer

Snow Leopard includes QuickTime X and it can't be upgraded to Pro.
QuickTime Player 7 was released in April, 2005 and hasn't been updated in years. It's the only version that can convert to Pro but that feature is merely unlocked from the standard player during registration.
I would ignore the Firefox plug-in checker.

G5 acting very strange and now will not get past grey screen with Apple log

Hi I have had my iMac G5 for a few years and it was working perfectly up until today ! When I switched it on and it started playing up. Every application I opened would randomly shut down. For instance, Safari would crash and mail would crash, as well as the finder refreshing itself. This settled after a short while. Therefore I thought things were fine until I pressed the < or > buttons in finder and the system would refresh itself ! Weird ! Fortunately I backed up all of my iTunes.
I can see the hard drive when I hook it up via firewire to my MacBook Pro.
The problem I have now is that the machine will not boot up ! It gets stuck on the grey screen and after a short while the fans kick in like the thing is ready for take off !
Any ideas ?????

Want to buy QT 7, but cant get free version to install Errors 1714 and 1603

Hi all,
I was trying to install QT 7.x on this XP Pro machine and it failed and now after uninstalling QT and iTunes, I get errors 1714 and 1603 when trying to re-install iTunes.
I tried the QT installer by itself, will not install

I went thru regedt32 and deleted all registries for items and QT and also all files, still no go.
And the above error message is pointing to a file that is right where the error says, so its not missing.
I have spent about 2 days trying to resolve this and WANT to BUY QT 7 pro, but not if it is never going to run onthis machine.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I'm getting the same error messages when trying to install the latest version of Quicktime along with the message 'unable to locate file c:\windows\downloaded installations\{59C4F14F-7590-45FC-BE9F-A67AB3590709}\iTunes.msi
I'm also being instructed to contact my technical support group (whoever and wherever they are).
I tried running the program that Jacumba recommends to no avail.
I wouldn't mind being permanently without iTunes, or Quicktime come to think of it, but unfortunately I need Quicktime to use a training program that I've bought, and there doesn't seem to be an alternative.

Nothing you can do. Apps are locked to the account that purchased them and you have to log into the account to update them.
