I can use it with Pakistani operator SimA GSM 3G iPad purchased in the US will not be locked to any carrier, so it will work anywhere. Make sure you don't inadvertently get the Verizon version which will work only with Verizon.

They may be purchased unlocked at full price. But whether you can use them in Brazil depends on whether you have GSM service there.
Note that if you buy in the US then any warranty work will require you to bring the device to the US for service. The US warranty is only good in the US, not in Brazil. You would be better off buying it in Brazil which will also save you duty and import taxes plus US sales tax. -

Giving an iPad Air as a Christmas gift. Do I need to pay extra for an iPad with cellular service if I have an iPhone with a personal hotspot? If not, are there any advantages in paying the extra for the cellular v WiFi iPad?
The only advantage I can think of is if the phone contract's data plan is limited. Then an iPad data plan would provide more MBs. I used to have ipads with cellular available, but now that I have an iphone with a hotspot feature, and the fact that I rarely use the hotspot, I opted for wifi only ipad.

I'm a first year studying dentistry and my current laptop(Dell XPS M1530) have crashed so I'm looking at purchasing a new laptop.
It has lasted 5 years and looking for something to take me another 5 years. I hear the iPad is selling faster than the macs.
I have two options:
Option 1: an iPad with cellular and a cheap laptop to run the iPad as it is very dependent on iTunes
Option 2: a MacBook Pro or a MacBook Air
I currently have an iPhone 5
I mainly browse the Internet, type documents, download music and watch movies
Which option should I go for and why should I go for that option?
Thanks :)I do not think a tablet should take the place of a laptop. They are convenient and fun, but as you prepare documents, I think a Macbook Pro would be a better choice. Typing on a tablet is not as capable on a tablet. The Macbook Pro could be expected to last longer than a cheap laptop and you could always add a tablet later if you want one.

iPad with cellular will allow you to connect to the internet and email anywhere you have a cell phone signal. You can also connect to a wi-fi network.
iPad with wifi will allow you to connect to the internet when you are within range of a wifi network.
So if you are outside in the middle of a park, you won't be able to connect to the internet or email with the wifi only model, but you could with the cellular model. If you are at a Starbucks, you could connect to the internet or email with either model.

the site has all the info for eligibility and available items for purchase -- I think you can type in your school to see if on list of approved schools. I think the ID checking is rather benign. discounts are modest from what I recall.
