Hi,
You will need to use your data or internet when you are out and about. You will have access to all your nusic in the cloud but you will need to pre-download music whilst you have an internet connection.

I'm going to quit iTunes match for other streaming services, all my music is in the cloud (non on my computer). When I come back to iTunes Match: will I be able to acces my music?
I'm planning to not renew my iTunes match ending soon. But when I change my mind in, say, a year, will all my music be available to me. I really don't feel like donwloading and backig up :-)
    Thank you!

I don't know if Apple keeps a record of what music you had in the cloud. I am assuming that after the subscription lapses, after some amount of time the music in the cloud is deleted. So, after a year, if you sign up again you'll need to go through the process again.
iTunes Match is not a backup, and if you don't pay the subscription fee Apple is under no obligation to keep the data around.

  • If I buy my Iphone 5 now, will I be able to upgrade it if a new one comes out for free?

Apple will not provide a free upgrade to any future model.

  • If I buy iTunes Match do I need to backup locally?

I am thinking of buying iTunes Match does this remove the need to back up music locally?

Apple does not gurantee that matched copies of your music will always be available in the cloud. The record lables can and do pull some music from the Apple store at any time.
I have had several album purchases go missing from the store over the years and to this day, they have not returned.  It's up to you if you want to take that chance but I have all my music on the cloud as well as on two computers as backup for this reason.

  • Will I need to buy itunes match?

I will be living in Argentina for 9 months and will be taking my ipad mini down as my "computer" so I wanted to buy some icloud storage, possibly 10GB, but my question is that doesnt support the music I have on my devices does it? My ipad is 64GB and my iphone is 16GB so I was hoping while I was down there I could share my music between both the devices. Will I have to buy itunes match for that? and if I do will it work in a forgein country?

iTunes Match will host the iTunes library on your computer (up to 25,000 songs, not including songs purchased from the iTunes store) and make it available on all your devices as long as they are signed into the Apple ID used to subscribe to iTunes Match in Settings>iTunes & App Stores and have iTunes Match enabled.  You subscribe to iTunes Match from iTunes on your computer.
If you are planning on purchasing media while in Argentina, you will need an iTunes account with a local address (requires a credit card with a local address).  However, if you subscribe to iTunes Match while you're here, your devices will be associated with the ID used for the subscription.  Once a device is associated with an ID in this way, it cannot be associated with a different ID for 90 days.  This would pose a problem since you may wish to change to an Argentinean ID while you're there without waiting 90 days.  This would mean you would want to wait to subscribe until you are there.
If I were you, I would contact iTunes store support to find out exactly what the rules are before deciding what to do.  You can contact them here: http://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html.

  • My itunes match will not sync properly

    Mac User same thing
Hello there here is my problem. My itunes match will not sync properly. It shows a lot of songs over 100 with the icloud match status as "Waiting"
Here is what i have done
    1. Reinstall the entire OS delete everything and start from scratch
    2. Turn on and off itunes match.
    3. Hold down the option key
    4. Move my music out of the music folder clear everything out of my itunes and bing back my music.
    5. Use backup copies of my music in case the music files had been corrupted.
    6. Checked numerious mac community forms that report simular issues.
    7. Tried another macbook pro that I have
    8. My wifes account which has about 8000 songs did no have the issue. My account seems to have the issue sobeservices2. I beleive this to be account specific. My account has 11481 songs and about 100 to 100 show with the status of "waiting"
    9. I get no error messages
    10. I've tried multiple ISP - COMCAST - FIOS - I even tried multiple computers
    11. Redid the entire os
    12. My account has problems "*****s2" but my wife account does not
    13. Replicated the issue on more then one computer it seems only has problems with my itunes account. Suck waiting to upload
and its not always the same songs sometimes it's different songs that it gets suck waiting to upload.
    14. Removed the waiting songs and attempted again
    15. Started with fresh iTunes had the server match a blank itunes folder  to the point where it said "0 Songs Match" then re-added them
    16. Called Apple Care and spoke with a Senior Advisor who told me he would have to escalate a ticket and he to thought I had done all the tsing possible and that it was up to the engineers to figure out a solution.
I have been working on this for about 4 weeks now. All my trouble shooting has pointed it to be an account specific issue.
    Any advise from the community

    Hi
I have had a similar set of issues.  8000 songs, 800 in waiting.  All ripped from CD into Apple Lossless - mainly classical so most didn't match directly.
First I ripped all these 8000 songs for my father first on his laptop from his CD collection.  Eventually got them all matched or uploaded to his Match account (except one) by the usual tricks people suggest (e.g. recoding as AIFF or MP3 etc, deleting, re-adding blah blah). Though of course I shouldn't really have to waste my time doing this.  One song absolutely refused to upload. Tried everything - including buying a pristine downloadable version off the publisher's website.  Still resolutely refuses to upload.
Anyway - main problem is now with my PC. I copied all these 8000 tracks over. Re-installed everything etc.  800 remain in "waiting" (even though they uploaded Ok on a different account).  When I rip my own CDs even some common stuff (e.g. Bowie/Stones) gets uploaded instead or matched and often with one or two tracks stuck in 'waiting'.
If I then look at my IPad (with Match enabled), it will show these waiting tracks as if they were already downloaded to it (which of course they are not). If I try and play one of them it just skips over it.

  • Can anyone tell me how iTunes match will work if subscripted?

For example I have a imported CD ablum called "MYAblum" which exists in the music store. After activated itunes match, these music can be matched, right?
My question is on what happens following.
If using same APPLE ID I go to the music page and buy that matched songs/album, will I be charged?
If not, after the subscription expired, if I do the same thing, will I be charged?
    thank you.

For example I have a imported CD ablum called "MYAblum" which exists in the music store. After activated itunes match, these music can be matched, right?
If you have a CD that you have already imported into iTunes and you buy iTunes Match, each song will either be uploaded, or matched.
Most of the time, if the CD is for sale in the iTunes music store, the songs will match.  Sometimes a song will be for sale and still will not match, so it will be uploaded instead. We don't know for sure why this is.
All songs that are matched or uploaded will show up on your iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, as well as any other computers you have added to your iTunes Match account.
Because as an iTunes Match subscriber, you will be able to download and play all the songs on your original CD, there would not be a reason to go and buy another copy from the iTunes Music store.
If not, after the subscription expired, if I do the same thing, will I be charged?
If songs on your CD are matched, it is possible the iTunes store copy will be of better quality than what you made from your CD.  As an iTunes Match subscriber, you can download these better copies.  Those copies are yours to keep, so if you decide not to renew your iTunes Match subscription after one year, any of those better copies that you downloaded are yours to keep.

  • HT5085 I have nearly filled my iCloud storage with pictures. If I subscribe to iTunes match, will I still be able to access music via the cloud?

I have nearly filled my iCloud storage with pictures. If I subscribe to iTunes match, will I still be able to access music via the cloud, or will I have to buy more storage space? Cheers.

Yes, but... you'll have to first index her music through your iTM subscription. So... you'd have to add her music into your own library first. Which.... would defeat the point of iTM I suspect in your case.

  • Itunes match not working. Itunes match will grey out songs that i have on my iPhone, that were fine before i signed up to itunes match.

    Hey
Itunes match will be in a loop. I have unlimited internet but it does take up bandwith. The worse problem is it can never finish step three. I have tryed signing in and out of my apple ID, but that does not seem to help. I go to my iphone and it has songs that are localy stored on it greyed out, like what people are saying about songs they have in the cloud. I can figure it out, i tryed these steps of getting the song off icloud, bring it back in, the uploading it. It just does not seem to be doing anything for me, pleas help!

    Hi,
What is the iCloud status of these tracks?
You can add icloud status column to song view - go to menu > view> view options and tick box. This will tell you what has been Matched, Uploaded, Purchased, Inelligible, Duplicate or Waiting.

  • HT4914 I often record songs at a particular tempo, iTunes Match will then match it and send it back to me at the original tempo, is there anyway I can stop some songs from being matched. At the moment I have turned match off. But I would like to sync play

I often record songs at a particular tempo, iTunes Match will then match it and send it back to me at the original tempo, is there anyway I can stop some songs from being matched. At the moment I have turned match off. But I would like to sync playlists.

How old was this backup? It sounds like it was at least several weeks old.
You can look directly in the TM backup for the music.
    1. Connect to the external HDD the backup is kept on.
    2. Open a Finder window and select the backup drive in the left hand panel. Double click into the folders until you see a list of folders with dates.
These are the incremental backups. You can start at the top or the bottom of the list but I suggest you double Latest/<HDD Name>/Users/<Account Name>/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music. From this location you can start looking for the "missing" music. When/if you find it you can simply drag-n-drop to ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music on the internal HDD.
If the music is actually not in the backups (for whatever reason) then you've got a problem.
You can download the uploaded files from the cloud by deleting the affected tracks from the iTunes library (but not the cloud!), highlighting multiple tracks at once, right-clicking and choosing "download."

    No you didn't.
Now everything is in the cloud
Except for anything you did not purchase in iTunes Store.
Only you iTunes purchases are in the cloud.

  • ITunes Match will no longer let me add my PC... Help?

iTunes Match will no longer let me add my PC.  As it is, about 50% of the time that I have opened iTunes for the last year, I've gotten an error stating that iTunes Match has encountered an error and I would need to re-login.  This is on my main PC, the one with all of my music stored on the HDD. So, everytime, I sign out and re-sign in, and iTunes match takes a good bit of time and comes back on line.  Today, it asked me to sign in again, and it told me that I can't add my PC because I have too many devices on the account.  Right now, aside from this desktop PC, I have my work PC and my MacBook Pro. I had an old work PC, but I was careful to de-authorize before losing that computer.  Thus, I don't have many computers on the iTunes match account.  I *do* have a lot of iOS devices that I use with iTunes match, but I've had those for a while.  Is this the issue or is there something else?
    Thanks!

Can you try the modem plugged directly into the master socket without any ADSL filters. You will lose your broadband connection during the test, but it will eliminate any problem with the BT Home hub, or the microfilter.
ADSL does not start until 30kHz, which is well above the range that an analogue modem works at.

  • I have downloaded all my music from the cloud to my new iPhone and created playlists so I can listen to it when not it wifi like when on a plane. If I turn on iTunes Match will I still have this music still downloaded?

I have downloaded all my music from the cloud to my new iPhone and created playlists so I can listen to it when not it wifi like when on a plane. If I turn on iTunes Match will I still have this music still downloaded? The online information suggests all my music will be replaced. Will I have to download it again??

What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not an iTunes "account."  The account that is related to iTunes is your Apple ID, which you use to sign in to the iTunes Store and make purchases.  It is also used with iCloud.  iPods (that are not iPod touch) are associated with your iTunes library, not to your Apple ID.
So, I think you probably just need to set up (or update) automatic syncing for the iPod.  If it's not set up to sync those new songs, iTunes still syncs the iPod, but it syncs nothing
In iTunes, if the sidebar (along left side of iTunes window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  In the sidebar, the iPod appears under DEVICES, when it is connected.
Select the iPod in iTunes.  There is a row of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music (if it's not already checked).  If your iTunes music library fits completely on the iPod, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  On the lists below, checkmark the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres that you want on the iPod.  When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the iPod.
One convenient way to set this up (if you can't sync the entire iTunes music library) is to create a new playlist in your iTunes library.  Name it "iPod Songs" (or whatever you want).  Put ALL songs that you want on the iPod on this playlist, including those new songs.  Back on the iPod's Music screen in iTunes, select this playlist under Playlists.  Going forward, to update songs on the iPod, just update that playlist in your iTunes library (add/remove songs).  The next time you connect the iPod (or click the Sync button), iTunes automatically syncs the same changes to the iPod.
