If I buy LR4 do I need..

or should I also buy ACR, Bridge, and/or Elements 11?  I'm not clear on the relationship among them and I can't tell from reading the descriptions of the products.  I'm coming from Aperture. thanks, Mike

You don't need ACR, because all that technology is part of the Lightroom program. Lightroom does not use the ACR plug-in. You might want to also purchase Photoshop Elements. There are some things that are easier to do with a pixel editor. For instance, you can do much more intricate spotting/dust removal using Photoshop Elements. If you like to create panorama images, you will also need Photoshop Elements or something else because that cannot be done in Lightroom. Lightroom is a perimetric editor, meaning that the original image is never modified; all adjustments are stored in a database that is referred to as the catalog. Since this is true, it places somewhat of a limit on what can actually be done in Lightroom. Having said that, many people (including myself) find that we are able to do at least 95% of what we need using just Lightroom. Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or some other additional editor is needed to do that extra 5%.

  • How can I buy LR4+PS6?

Hi, I would like to get the chance to buy LR4 and Photoshop CS6 instantly in order to get the discount that Adobe is offering (I want to buy the downloadable version of both programs), but I cannot figure out the way to buy both programs at once, just kind of "one by one" thing, which I won't like to probe by the "trial and error" method, because it cost too much money So I need help (obviously, that's why I'm here).
I would really love to buy the boxed version, but I don't know if will pass Customs in my country. There is kind of "self blocking" state here, you know, like the US did to Cuba long time ago, or like the british did with the first free americans, a block thing that blocks the market, usually... That kind of thing but self-applied, I mean, Argentina blocks it self, so actually and in theory, I'm probably not allowed to buy stuff from other countries, as happens to, at the least, the sales shops (like for example, all the Apple Stock is stuck in Customs, so I cannot upgrade the RAM of the Mac, etc) are not allowed to bring anything from foreign countries (importation of stuff).
So... My second question is: what happens if I order the Boxed Version of both, LR4 and PSCS6, or the Extended version of it, and it happens that it gets stuck in customs... Will Adobe 100% refund me or make something, I don't know, send someone to clone the president out of the picture and finally send me the boxed version at any cost?
Well... that's quite my question, in some kind of words? English is y second languaje, just in case (ESL).
    Thanks

Unfortunately no. I asked the same question when I went to the local Apple Store for my "try on" and as of now you would have to order the watch with the metal link band and the black sports band separately.

Absolutely not true. There is no difference, spec wise, between the iPhone sold in Japan & the GSM iPhone sold everywhere else. iPhones in Japan use UMTS 2100.

    1. No, you don't. iTunes Store purchases don't count towards the iCloud storage limit.
    2. You can read it on any device with iBooks installed.

You will get LR 4.1 through 4.x (whatever) up until LR 5.0. That's when you'll have to pay for an upgrade.

    Thanks,

Yes, I think they would like you to by the CC plan.  But you can still get the standalone.
    The Trial Download is here:
    https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop_lightroom
This is exactly the same as the paid for version but time limited. I seem to recall that the option to convert the Trial to a Paid for version pops up every time you start it.

  • In Hongkong. I want to buy new iMac, But need to sell old one first. Where is good for sell??

    Please help me.
    Please give me a suggestion.
I want to buy new iMac, but need to sell old one.
    About following the info.
How much can sell and where is good for sell?
Processor  2.93 GHz Intel Core i7
    Total Number of Cores:          4
    Processor Interconnect Speed: 4.8 GT/s
    Memory  8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.3 (12D78)
    1TB harddisk
    Warranty to 02/Aug/2013
    Thank you for your help.

When you sell your iMac, please remember that if you bought Mountain Lion upgrade at the app store, the license is not transferable and you need to erase the drive and reinstall the original system (which was most likely Snow Leopard?). If you don't do that, the buyer can never reinstall Mountain Lion because the license is tied to your Apple ID forever.

  • Considering buying a Mac mini - need drive information

Hello, I have never used a Mac before, so I feel a bit out of place here... But I have always heard that there is a wonderful Mac community, so I figure this is the best place to ask!
We recently purchased a full HD television, and have been thinking about buying a computer to use with it as a sort of media center / living room browsing combination.
We`ve always really wanted a Mac, but my husband works for a Windows networking and development company so our home is a bit of a "test network". It was hard to find a place to fit a different operating system.
But now we have a wonderful excuse, and I am really looking forward to a Mac... Only if we can use it how we want.
We live in Japan, and burn a lot of DVD`s from copy-once television. They are all CPRM encoded. I`ve found information that the Superdrive Mac mini supports CPRM play, but I can`t find anything relating to the more basic version. We don`t have any plans to burn discs on it, so we`re only really looking at the lower model. Our biggest plans are to play DVDs as our recorder doesn`t support upscaling - it`s such a waste when we have a nice TV.
Can anyone here help us out by checking the drive information for the "Slot-loading Combo drive"?
Also, as a side question, how is wireless control on the Mac? I have seen that there is a remote, but what exactly can it do?
    Thank you!
    Windows XP

We`re not really all that interested in the Apple TV.
We do want the ability to play media files, but not only that. Basically, we want a real Mac, but just don`t need the burning capabilities.
CPRM isn`t DVD+R, all of ours are regular DVD-R or RW. It`s an encoding scheme using a code placed in the beginning sectors of the DVD. It doesn`t have anything to do with media - I just need to know whether the drive is capable of reading those sectors. Some are, some aren`t, and it ususally doesn`t have much of anything to do with the quality of the drive. (We have some very cheap drives that have no trouble, and a very nice multi-format burner that can`t do it.)
I believe you can check by looking at the drive data - There is a listing of recorder features for the Superdrive here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2514379&#2514379
What I`d really like to see is a similar list of drive data for the regular drive.

  • I'm going to be buying an iMac and need advice

HI Everyone, I'm going to be buying an iMac. I'm trying to figure out the specs and such that I want.
    Background:
I've had a MacPro 1,1 for 8 years and it was more than enough for my needs. I liked having several different hard drives to back-up data but found that 1 tb seemed to be the most I would use (ended up backing-up data onto the other drives). Unfortunately it died and now I'm shopping for a new mac.
What I'll be using my mac for:
    1) Managing content (iTunes data)
    2) Photos
    3) Programming (working with Xcode)
    4) Photoshop
    5) Photoshop Lightroom
    6) Illustrator
    7) Microsoft apps
    8) Diablo
    9) Starcraft
    10) WoW (very rarely because of time constraints)
So I pretty much figure I want an 1 TB Fusion drive. And I want 8 - 16 gb of RAM. What processor should I get and video card. There might be some point that I'm playing games so I'm curious if I should shoot for an i7 processor or just an i5. As well, a 1 gb video card, intel HD, or 2gb card. I think with the video card and and processor it is a matter of longevity rather than performance at this moment (since non of the games I'll ever play are processor intensive). Any thoughts on this are greatly appreciated. I'm buying in Dec and am going to see what comes out in Oct. I definitely need a new computer. Been running an 128 gb hard drive Macbook Air all summer and going to pull my hair out if I can't get access to all my data soon.

for a case, if you are planning for rough treatment, dust, water...
    Look at the Pelican line.
    http://www.pelican-case.com/1095.html
This is ne of many they offer, this is brand most TV crews use. You can call them they have a ton of cases to offer, it depends on how it is going to used.
Something like this for power, this is a grey area to recommend as it depends on what the voltage supply is doig, the heavier duty, the more $$$
The solar charger you will have to do some research, I could,nt find anything that looked promising.
    Have a safe trip

  • Buying Used Macbook Pro; Need Security Advice

    Howdy--
While on vacation last week, my sister in law accidentally spilled water on the table that ran into the back of my early 2011 13" i7 MBP.  My wife and I have the same machines, so I was able to remove the SSD and RAM to the her machine, which tested fine.  I then took the machine down to my local Apple dealer (TD Curran) and they confirmed that the machine is basically a brick.  They suggested that I start with the logic board replacement ($530 + $150 = $680), but that other components may have failed, too--so this number could grow higher.
So I looked at my local Craigslist postings to see if there was a similar machine, and I found a couple.  Here is where I need your help:
    1.  I plan on wiping whatever drive they have and using it in the DVD bay as a secondary storage device and using my SSD as the primary hard drive.  If the laptop ends up being stolen and the original owner locks the machine down somehow, are they only able to do that if the original hard drive is in place?  I'm only buying the machine for the non-hard drive/RAM components, but would these components somehow allow the original owner to lock the machine down?  This is already a giant S&*T burger for everyone to eat, and I'm certainly not interested in paying $500-1000 for a used machine that is effectively bricked because it was stolen.  What are my options?  What should I be on the look out for?  Is remote lock out only possible if the original hard drive is still in place?
    2.  I have the original installation DVDs that came with my early 2011 machine.  Will these work on any early 2011 machine or will they only work on my machine?
    3.  If the used machine is a late 2011 machine without the installation disks, are there any options for either getting these are burning new ones?
I understand that this might be a time to upgrade from my i7 chipset, but I am not willing to give into the glued RAM in the newer MBP machines.  Therefore, I want to stick an older machine where I can still get at the RAM--and the SSD--with relative ease.
Thanks for your help, and please let me know if I can answer any questions.

I tend to agree with you.  However I'm in a pinch and I need a solution, which given my circumstances is a used machine off Craigslist.  I'm trying to figure out what that might mean if the machine gets locked somehow.  I spoke with my local Apple dealer, and they indicated that I might want to make sure that the machine's password is reset via the Security and Privacy settings, make sure FileVault is turned off and that they are logged out of iCloud and that my iCloud login details are entered and accepted prior to leaving with the laptop.
Would you agree that these items should safeguard me against the machine getting locked out if it does end up being stolen?
Would you recommend any other preemptive steps.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; ways of doing so include clicking here and picking a method for your country, and filling out and submitting this form.

  • Thinking of buying Satellite C855-226 - need more info

    Hi all,
This is my 1st msg here :)
I am thinking of buying C855-226 for 529 and then Saturn offers C855-2EV for 477, which very cheap and ticks most of the boxes for me which are : price, processor, hd capacity, max ram, the thing that I dont liek is the size and weight (initially I wanted 14inch & <2.2kg, but all very expensive).
Now before I buy it, I need to gather some more information regarding this series, I hope you can help me.
What I would like to know is:
Are there any known problems with this series such as heat / wifi
The reason I ask this is because Im buying C855 to replace my overheated HP DV3, and I dont want that to happen again. Moreover the other candidate is Lenov B590 which always very cool laptop (from the review even after heavy loads it only reaches <50c), unfortunately B590 known to have wifi issue & poor screen.
How about the speaker is that decent enough?
    Thanks

  • POKER PLAYER NEEDS HELP! If i buy Parallel do i need to buy Explorer too?

    Hi
The only decent way to play poker online is to use sites that require you to download a .exe file (the "live" games i.e. not needing download, don't appear to be very good....). If i buy the Parallel software so i can run windows (i have the MacBook Pro) do i have to also buy Windows Explorer to be able to access the internet...?
    thanks
    Rob

    I'm really sorry... i wasn't clear... I meant
    Internet Explorer -
Internet Explorer is part of Windows it is not available separately.
do i need to buy that separately
or i.) is it included in the Parallel programme,
Parallels does not include a license for Windows (and therefore does not include Windows Internet Explorer) you would also need to purchase a Windows license (a copy of Windows) as well.

  • Installing full version of LR4; do i need to uninstall LR3.6?

I am running Lightroom 3.6 on my desktop (Windows Vista) and my laptop (Windows 8).  Do I need to uninstall 3.6 before installing the full version of LR4? (I purchased the full version not the upgrade.)  If I save my catalog will I be able to open it in LR4?
    Thank you for your help!
    Cheryl

No, you don't need to uninstall earlier versions of Lightroom.
Your LR3 catalog will convert (the technical term is "upgrade") to LR4 (actually, a copy will be converted, your LR3 catalog remains untouched)
