i want to buy a macbook pro from outside america and sent it as a gift to an american resident in america

    Because of credit card laws in both US and Canada (not sure about other countries) against online fraud for your protection;
It is sometimes impossible to purchase something online when your billing and shipping address does not match your Credit Card info.
One way to bypass this is to call the Apple Store in person and give tell them about your dilema.  Also make sure that your Credit Card compay is aware of what you're about to do so they won't decline or redflag the transaction.
I have experienced the same issue but for a different purchase.  My Credit Card info and shipping address is the same but I wanted it shipped elsewhere.  I had to inform both Vendor and Credit Card company about what I was doing after my original transaction was declined.

  • Buy macbook pro from japan to singapore - tax?

Macbook pro 13inch with retina display is sold for 144600 yen in japan (less than S$2000).
it is sold at S$2388 in singapore. thats a $388 savings.
I am intending to buy it in Japan to use it during my trip there and bring the macbook pro back home.
i would like to ask if there is any tax or inplications from doing this.

Check with the country government to which you will be importing it. We would not know?

  • If I buy MacBook Pro in UK, will it work in Japan ok?

Hi. I'm new to all this - so, sorry!
I'm looking to buy a MacBook Pro by the end of the year, to take with me when I move to Japan next year. I'm just worried that what I buy may not work - can anyone advise? I'll need to be able to use it for broadband, as well as normal offline functions. I'm most concerned about the broadband, and about charging it.
Also, whilst I'm here, any advice on which one to buy would be appreciated! I mainly want it for photos, music, watching DVDs, and writing.
    Thanks!
    Ali

Now I've just got to get my head round the spec and decide how big a screen I want...
Hehe... well, that's something that only you can decide; no one else. A general rule is to get the highest spec model that your budget will allow. With regards to screen size (15" or 17") again, only you can decide. I have the 17" flavour and I absolutely love it.
Pop down to an Apple Retail Store and look at both models.

and when i gave them my imac 27 inch back to repair it (a white screen appers suddenly)  they made even worse.
however i sold very very cheap to some one i know other than those idiots wh call them selves technitians & now i want to buy macbook pro from some one else other tradeline & i want to know if it was referbushed or not by numbers or letters printed on the box.
    so please advise

Once, Apple refurbs had serial numbers starting with "R" or "RM." That faded away several years ago so I don't think you can tell from the serial number any more. However, the carton is rather plain and says something like "Apple Refurbished Product" on it
Most of the "mission-critical" Macs at our house are refurbs bought directly from Apple USA. They have all given superb and trouble-free service.

  • Wanna buy a Macbook pro from US...currently living in India.

I currently live in Kolkata, planning to buy macbook pro retina dispplay from US ..my sister wanna gift me..so in that case will all the after sales services like those damage insurance and other stuff will be valid in India? Will I have to send it to US in case of damage or the thing can be sorted out by stores here in india,(Apple(India))The student discount can only be obtained by US college student as mentioned(true??)

The warranty and (if you purchase it) AppleCare plan for the MacBook Pro are international in coverage. It is NOT damage insurance, however. It covers manufacturing defects in materiels and workmanship, but if you damage the MBP through your own (or another's) fault, it is your responsibility to pay for repairs. Service can be performed - or in some cases mail-in repair set up - at any Apple authorized service provider.
I don't know for sure about the student discount. If purchased online you have to buy through your school's store, and that would not be in the US obviously. Purchasing through one of the Apple retail stores might be different, however. I would have your sister call them for their policy first.
    Best of luck.

  • HI, I'm planning to Purchase Macbook Pro from United States while I'm there but later I will go back to India. Does it come with international warranty or do I have purchase serperately ? Regards, Mohan

    HI,
I'm planning to Purchase Macbook Pro from United States while I'm there but later I will go back to India.
Does it come with international warranty or do I have purchase internationaly warranty serperately ?

Apple's warranty is global.  However, some countries have laws which over rides Apple's warranty.  To check to see if India is involved read the info in EU-wide Consumer Laws article.

  • Can I buy a MacBook Pro from U.S.A's store online with a keyboard English&Arabic? How?

Can I buy a MacBook Pro from U.S.A's store online with a keyboard English&Arabic? How?

    That is great!
But the price ismore expensive than the United States.
In the United States's store $2199
In the United Ararb Emarates $2499.73
I can save $300 if I will from United States, but I want the Keyboard English and Arabic.
Can I request that by contact to Apple?

  • Now I am in Thailand. Can i buy Refurbished Macbook pro from US appple store?

Excuse me. I am in Thailand. Can i buy Refurbished Macbook pro from US apple store?

The USA web store requires payment in US funds, from a US source, and with a US billing address for the account.  And as Limnos mentions, they do not ship internationally - they will only ship to a US street address (no P.O. Boxes so no re-shipper will work either).

  • I bought a used macbook pro from a friend. Software updates are available, but when I try to update, the computer asks for apple id and will only accept the former owner´s. How can I connect my macbook to my apple id?

I bought a used macbook pro from a friend. Software updates are available, but when I try to update, the computer asks for apple id and will only accept the former owner´s. How can I connect my macbook to my apple id?

The first thing you should do after acquiring a used computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. How you do that depends on the model. Look it up on this page to see what version was originally installed.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard installation disc, which you can get from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the gray installation discs that came with it. If you don't have the discs, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, it should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
Once booted from the disc or in Internet Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive, which is what you should do.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
You should then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. If you want to upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, buy it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.

  • After i have downloaded an album from iCloud to my new macbook pro. Itunes will only play one song at a time. If i hit the fast forward or back button will not do anything. I have to use the mouse to hit the next tidal in the album then hit play for it

after i have downloaded an album from iCloud to my new macbook pro. Itunes will only play one song at a time. If i hit the fast forward or back button will not do anything. I have to use the mouse to hit the next tidal in the album then hit play for it to play the next song. Or put it in the UP NEXT.

First, make sure these items have checkmarks next to their names in iTunes. Continuous playback only works on checked items. Itunes will play all checked items in a list whether or not they're from the same album.
If you see that nothing in your library is checked and you want to check everything, hold down Ctrl while checking an item. This checks everything.
Next, fixing the "1 of 1" problem is easily. Select all the tracks that make up the book/album. Let's say there are 15. Press Ctrl-I. Doublecheck that the album box is filled in with the name of the book, and if not, type it there. Enter "15" in the box for the total number of tracks. Click OK. Now all the items should be "1 of 15," "2 of 15," and so on.

Will my MacBook Pro from 2008 work with the Thunderbolt Display? Or will I need an adapter? I like to have two monitors and currently using an Cinema Display from 2005. Thanks

If your computer does not have Thunderbolt you cannot use a Thunderbolt display.  There are no adapters that will help.

  • How good is macbook pro compared to 13" macbook pro retina and is the macbook pro has haswell processor and  will I get further updates if I buy macbook pro without retina

    .

will I get further updates if I buy macbook pro without retina
I do not know what you mean by that. Any currently produced Mac is likely to be supported for as long as every other Apple product that has ever been produced. Most Apple products are relegated to "vintage" status approximately six years after which they are discontinued by Apple, meaning that the non-Retina MBP is likely to be supported through 2020.
