If I can't do "views" can I fake it?
I'm getting pretty used to Numbers now, but....
I want to have a sheet with a table of "master" data, and different "views" of that data.
1. I can accomplish this within the single master table by activating combinations of filters, and hiding or showing various columns, but that is not an optimal solution. The disadvantage here is having to take the time and effort to open the filter and sort panel, and change the filters and sort criteria over and over again; and re-sorting by a different column is slow!
2. I could simply duplicate the original master table several times. Then with copy 1, I could activate one combination of filters and sort criteria, with copy 2, a different combination, and so forth. The disadvantage here is that, although initially identical, the tables would all be independent of each other, so additions or alterations to the master would have to be made manually to each of the copies.
3. A third idea is to have subsidiary tables, each of which - rather than having a copy of the data in the master table - has only pointers to the data in the relevant columns of the master table (at least in the case of actual raw data; the calculations could still be made in the subsidiary table), so that when an addition or alteration is made to the master table, it automatically propagates to the daughter tables.
The master table in question is one of the dogs that are, or have been, in our kennel; some are alive, some are dead; some have a blank for birth date, some lack their date of death. So far, the disadvantage I have found with this 3rd method seems to be that a master cell that is blank (no birth date) generates (via "=All dogs :: Born") a subsidiary cell with a zero (NOT blank). but my age calculations depend on the cell being blank, not zero.
Any alternative suggestions? I would love to be able, instead of actually generating a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th table, simply to make reference to "View A = 'All dogs'; filter 1 active; filter 2 inactive; sort 1st by 'Born', descending; sort 2nd by 'Name', ascending; hide columns B, C, D, E. F, G, H, M, N"

Can not properly view cover flow in full screen in external display
My mac is the new Mac book pro 15.4 inch screen and I connect my mac pro to external display e.g. Samsung LCD monitor 24 inches.
The bug is that I can not PROPERLY view full screen (in external display) for some application e.g. iTunes, and Front Row.
- When I use iTunes, I can not properly view Cover Flow view in full screen (in the external display screen) except the case of mirror display.
- For Front Row, I can not view full screen in external display but only my mac display.
However, for other DVD or VDO players, I can view movie on external display in full screen and I still be able to do other works on my mac screen.

Why can't I view my icloud backups on a new apple device using the same icloud id? Unluckily I lost 4 iphones in 2 yrs. all had same icloud acct on them, so when i log on to locate my current iphone on my macbook or on new iphone, it shows a list of all the lost iphones and their data take up.
When i click on settings on my ios> go to icloud > storage & backup> manage storage:
LOST IPHONE 1- 4.5 GB DOCUMENTS & DATA : it shows PREVIEW 1.2 MB PAGES1.6 MB TEXT EDIT91.6 KB PHOTOS 3.2 GB
LOST IPHONE 2- 3.2 GB DOCUMENTS & DATA: it shows same thing just different gb's mb's kb's
LOST IPHONE 3- etc.......
but you can't click on those documents & data to show what exactly they are so you can move them or save and delete. If I go into icloud there's nothing there from that long ago. is that data deleted? if i were to get that certain iphone back and turn it on would the pics, docs still be in icloud? it says all that room in my icloud is still taken up so where can i view it?? anyone know??
THANK YOU!If you haven't already, you could force-quit Quicktime by using the menu option from the desktop (finder) and choose Quicktime.
Not sure what you have frozen on the screen, be it a failed movie, or some unusual screen shot. If you can find by date (created) you may be able to look for .mov or quicktime suffix name or other video file content to delete it.
And you may have to restart your computer and perhaps run repair disk permissions from Disk Utility's first aid on the hard disk drive in your computer.
Not sure if all that would help now, but it is something a few days late...!

One more reason to put my iMAC at the curb. I can open and view Picasa photo links when I sign in via Google, but if I'm in Mail and click on the Picasa image link (my own or one someone else sends me) I can't view the images. They are all blank white squares. This started a few weeks ago. Why can't I view Picasa link images through Mail?

After updating my system to Mountain Lion 10.8.2 I can no longer view videos on Facebook or other sites. The only one I can view videos on is youtube. I have downloaded Adobe Flash player and still no luck. I cannot even open Preview on my computer anymore. Any ideas would be helpful thanks
Merely clicking the Preview icon in the Dock doesn't cause it to open anything, unless you had one or more windows open the last time it quit.
If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test.
1. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, triple-click the line below to select it:

How can I quickly view pdf files like I can do with Windows Picture and Fax viewer for jpg files? I need to look at several thousand PDF files. It takes too long to open each one individually. The only thing I could think of is combining them into large groups and then using the Navigation index. But I like the way windows Picture and Fax Viewer does it because you can keep the files separate. Combining PDFs causes loss of individual file names. That would be a problem since I do need to have the individual file names.
Windows Picture and Fax Viewer is a DLL and is started via a rundll32.exe call and can't be set as an application to handle images in Firefox 3 and later versions.
Try to set Windows Picture and Fax Viewer as the default viewer in Windows, then it should be listed automatically in the Mozilla Firefox Browse dialog.

My main question is: Can new PWA views be created whereby a filter for that view can be set, and associate to the view by default? (Project Server 2013 ONLINE)? and can I have a filter set to filter on person logged on to...
In previous versions of Project Server, when CREATING a PWA view, we were able to apply/ define a filter for that view. Does not seem like it is the case in Project Server 2013 Online. And if I remember, we could also use the URL Guid_view_id.

What I was hoping to do is the following... Given that our standard that we have adopted for reporting time is 'My Timesheets' (fyi, Single Mode Entry=ON), we have some resources who have others who do it on their behalf via 'My Tasks' (ie., accomplished
by using the 'Assignment Owner' field, accordingly). Therefore, when entering time on someone else's behalf within 'My Tasks', we like to present the user that is logged in only the tasks that they are are assigned to update on others' behlaf.
I know that there is another more elegant approach to doing this which may be to use the Delegation feature. But since we are trying to stick to Sharepoint Security mode for now, this is not an option for the time being.
Any help appreciated would be greatly appreciated.

1- You still can define in Project Online a filter in the view settings, it is located just above the category setting. Here is a screenshot of the summary project center view:
2- The view GUID is not anymore in the URL, since the URL triggers an action only on the webpart and not on the whole page. I agree this is annoying since it was great to send a URL with a specific view.
3- Concerning the access to my timesheet versus my task, I'm not sure to get a full understanding but on a general way, it is much more easy to deal with those situation using categories which you cannot do with the SP permission mode.

Power View can only print one sheet at a time with Power BI Mobile Apps
I have PowerView for Excel 2013 on Power BI Preview. I have 2 reports sheet and 2 hidden data sheets on Excel.
I'm getting error on Mobile Application in Windows 8 RT tablet.
I should see 4 reports in preview page, but I see 2 correct reports and 2 errors.
Power View can only print one sheet at a time. Please switch to the desired sheet and try again.
Why this occurs? What should done in Excel?

As of yesterday afternoon, I can no longer view the content of email on my iPhone. I can view it on my iPad and my iMac. When I open the email, there's no content. Contact and subject appear, but zero content. It seems to be chronically "checking for email" at the bottom of the screen, whereas the email downloading indicator at the top has finished. This issue is across all three of my email accounts.

I can no longer view videos on a browser web page. Ive installed the latest flash player and have quicktime.
1. System Preferences > Flash Player > Advanced > Delete All
Press the "Delete All" button.
Install Adobe Flash Player.

The next step is important.
Click Safari in the menubar and select “Quit Safari”.
Follow the prompts and install it.
Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.

3. Safari > Preferences > Privacy
