I have Firefox 6.0.1. I am running it on a desktop with Windows XP. I have always loved it and need it for one program I use a lot. Lately, if I close Firefox for any reason, I can't open it back up without rebooting. It says Firefox is still running. I have deleted Firefox and reinstalled it several times with the same result.

It appears that you are launching the old version, probably using an icon in your Dock. That icon is an alias & is not updated. You will need to go to your Applications folder & find the new Pages 5 icon & double-click it. Once it is launched, you can right-click on the icon & choose Options > keep in Dock from the contextual menu.

Where is your iPhoto Library located?
Apply the fix below:
Fix #1
Try to launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4 as needed.

I have windows vista on my laptop and when I switch of firefox I can't open it again

until I have restarted the computer , get the message that Firefox is still running in the background and have to disable that first, I don't know where to find where I can disable this can you help?
This happens every time I accidentally close Firefox and want to open it again.
When I want to open Firefox again I have to resatart the computer and then open Firefox.

I have installed iLife a few times and because of photostream, the version on the disc must be updated. Software update usually takes care of it. It sounds like you installed an old version over a new version. I've not tried that.
You have a late 2012 machine, if you open the Mac app store from the dock, you should be able to go to the purchased tab and download/install the right version of iphoto. Honestly, you should not have used that disc on this new of mac or at least only installed iDVD & iWeb but not garageband, iphoto, and iMovie.
If the Mac App Store shows iphoto as installed already, drag the app from your applications folder to the trash and reinstall it again from the Mac App Store. That is the version you need. You may find garageband and imovie have similar problems.

It always opens first thing. If I close out of it, it doesn't always want to open again. Sometimes it says it is running but I can't access it. It happens daily, so I am just wondering if you can help me with it.

I have Firefox 3.6.13 with Firefox for Yahoo 1.7 on Win XP and when I close the browser window, I can't open it again without using Task Manager to close firefox.exe any suggestions?

This started when I first set started using Yahoo Messenger. It appears to me that Yahoo messenger is keeping the application firefox.exe open in the background and this prevents the browser from opening. The only thing I can't understand is why the broser will open the first time with Yahoo Messenger running.

Ok, one sentence, that's tough - I have gone through the 'firefox crashes when you open it' troubleshooting but my problem remains that firefox crashes when i open it, how do i fix this?

Several days ago firefox crashed when opening and it does so every time i try to open it now. I am able to use internet explorer perfectly. In fact one way i discovered i can still open firefox is by using Advanced System Care (which i installed after the crashing so it was not in any way responsible) and going to 'test bandswidth'. Because firefox is my default browser it opened it up. I was able to enter safe mode in this way and restart firefox in safe mode. I then set firefox so that all plugins and extensions were disabled but this did not help. I am running the default theme. I will be happy to provide any further information if anyone can help..thanks in advance.

I close firefox using the red cross - top right hand corner - but in processses it is still running

closing firefox using the red cross - top right of browser box closes it on my screen but the process stays running - when i try to open it again i get the message that it is already running although nothing i do willbring it back onto the screen - I have to go into task manager / processes and close it manually there (end process)
In task manager it hows in the processes list but not in the applications list

You can try to use File > Exit instead.
