If I connect one or two ext HD to my MacBook, does TiCaps backup and update the whole system?
I would like to organize my new MacBookPro in this way: an external HD for my photographs, another for my music and documents on internal HD.
I am going to buy Time Capsule to back up the whole system. Might it work? Thank you all.
In addition to Kappy's comments, you will need to insure that the hard drive is formatted correctly to work with Time Machine and the Time Capsule.
That would be Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Unless the hard drive is specifically sold for use with Macs, it will probably be pre- formatted for Windows, so you will need to use Disk Utility to format the drive before you use it.
Disk Utility is located as follows: Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility

How can I connect my Ipad Air to my PC to see the Ipad screen on the PC?
I have connected them via the Ipad to a LIGHTNING DIGITAL AV ADAPTER-ZML connected to a APPLE HDMI TO HDMI CABLE (1.8 M)-ZML, and to the HDMI port on the PC. But now I don't know how to show the Ipad screen on the PC, as if it was a monitor / screen, so that I can then use Lync and share my PC screen with people virtually.

I need to connect to my work PC remotely from my macbook. I think I need the citrix software. But which version and what is the procedure?
Probably don't need citrix software. Is you computer in the office on LAN? Also, is the office computer setup for remote access? If it's windows then its going to be running Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) natively. If it is in fact RDP that your windows machine at work is using then you need to download RDC for mac. I use it to connect to my work computer using RDP (don't tell the "Info Tech" dude at my office) and if your not too tech savvy I would suggest trying GOTOMYPC. It's alot easier to setup. But if you have experience in setting up remote access and your Windows office machine is connected through LAN and your IT TECH has allowed port forwarding then you should be just fine with RDP and it's free!!! But are you logging onto your actual computer at work or logging into the "SERVER" through your work machine... believe me it's two completely different things.
Basically, you'll need:
1. Physichal IP address of work computer. (If office computer is on WIFI this won't work) use IPCONFIG commands in command prompt
2. Port forwarding needs to be enabled by your IT Tech
3. Remote Desktop settings will need to be enabled on the office computer
4. Download RDC for mac (search google)
5. Type the physical IP address into RDC and hit connect... type in credentials and your all done.
We need lots more details though... there are many ways to connect remotely and if your office already has a system in place for remote access then any details would be helpful in determining which method will suit you best. If it's citrix just have your IT dude set it up. If you think you need citrix then good luck.... -
Doing an insert and update in one statement.
Hypothetical Situation:
I have a table, this table has let say five rows and several thousand records. I want to take all the records where I take two of those rows with certain values in them, then duplicate those records that match the criteria and reinsert them onto the table. Afterwards, I want to change the same two values that I originally used to search for those records on the newly made duplicates and update the table to reflect the new changes.
To Illistrate:
Table Test:
Rows:
First Name
Last Name
Earnings
Employment Date
Rating
Say I am looking for all records with earnings of 30,000 and a rating of B....duplicate those records and readd them to the table, then change the earnings of the duplicates to 40,000 and the rating to A.
Any suggestions on how to approach this in as few of statements as possible (preferrably one statement)?

Slightly straying now on this topic....After evaluation of what I needed, I'd come to the conclusion that my work would actually need something along the lines of an INSERT ALL or INSERT FIRST (TY Eric for putting me on the right track btw).
Basically I'm going to need to do multiple value inserts into one statement, thus why this looks to be the right direction. So I typed it up, made sure it was fine and tried it....
.....only one problem, ALL and FIRST are new to 9i....and I'm using 8.1.....doh >_<
So, is there something simular to an INSERT ALL or INSERT FIRST that predates it that I can use in 8.1 and get the same effect (i.e. multiple insert changes in one statement)?

Sometimes deleting the account and then re-creating it can solve this issue
Write down all the information in accounts before doing this
Highlight the account on the left and click the minus button

I have 2 iphones on one itunes account. I just upgraded both to ios 8 and now the messages i receive come through to both phones when they used to be separated. What is going on here?
I noticed the same problem after upgrading a few iPhones to IOS 8, all use the same Apple ID. However, I now notice when I go into Message and instead of selecting a person from my contact list, I start typing their name which brings up a list of people, some of which are not in my contact list and are on one of the other iPhones. There's a circle/exclamation point next to the name which I click on, and one of the options is to "Remove from Recent". How did these names get from one phone to another and how do I remove all "recents"? They do not appear in my contact list. Anyone see this?

Page Setup, including page orientation, is done in the File menu. The setting applies to the whole document. As Peter says, you can rotate the contents of a page (not including the text layer of a word processing document).
As an alternative, you could use Numbers, where Sheets are empty canvases onto which you may place images, charts, tables and text boxes, and where page orientation may be set for individual Sheets. The main tradeoff is that you lose many of the built-in word processing and page layout features of Pages.

Well, it doesn't mean that at all. You can download music purchased with an Apple ID to up to 10 devices. There is no 90 day wait. The wait is if you change the Apple ID.

When I try to combine two pdf's, it asks for a permission password and says the documents are protected; however, I didn't put any protection/security in the documents. I assume it is a default security under the enhanced security settings of the Acrobat Pro XI which I recently purchased.
Acrobat (Pro or Standard) does not apply a "default" protection. It appears that someone or some other process has applied protection.

When I try to connect to a WiFi network that I need a screen pops up and says "The network you're attempting to join requires you to install a profile on your Apple TV." What does this mean?
Yes, home sharing requires both to be on the same wifi network. As it stands access to the network requires the login via webpage, which cannot be done on Apple TV. You will need to speak to IT in order to grant access for the device.

Ever since I updated the operating system, itune doesn't play music on iphone 4. If it plays, it plays only one song and gets stuck. I've tried to reconnect to the computer to see whethere there has been missing portion during the upgrade... but not really. does anyone have the same issue?

How do I take two separate non numeric fields in a acrobat form and combine the data to display in a third separate field?
You have to use custom JavScripting to concatenate the first 2 fields. You cannot use the first 2 calculation options because they force the values of the fields to a numeric value or ignore string values.
Possible scripts for the 3rd field are:
event.value = this.getField("Text1").valueAsString + " " + this.getField("Text2").valueAsString;
or
event.value = this.getField("Text1").valueAsString.concat( " ", this.getField("Text2").valueAsString);
If you do not want change the separator or not show the separator when on or the other field is empty, you will need to add more code to adjust for change.
The above scripts will also concatenate number because the field values are read as strings and not numbers.
There is also a generalized user written function to concatenate up to 3 fields with a separator that adjust for missing data. -

Are you talking about Time Machine backups on a Time Capsule?
It is fine to delete the backup as long as you are sure there is nothing you want.. and do a new clean backup. That will be the least possible space usage for a working backup.. Never delete files out of an existing backup.. it is very hard to manually delete files in the backup.
We do not recommend it. -
I have tried to update the operating system on my ipad several times without success. Each time it reaches 353.2mb of 353.3mb and starts to process the file. Nothing happens and then I get a message saying the network connection has timed out. The network is still connected.
Have you tried temporarily turning off your firewall and antivirus software whilst the download is happening ? A number of people on here have had success downloading it after doing so.
